JOHN VERA BATTLES DANIEL ROSARIO FOR NABA SUPER WELTERWEIGHT TITLE ON SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE ON FACEBOOK FIGHTNIGHT LIVE

Former World Champion Rico Ramos takes on Tony Lopez for NABA Super Bantamweight title; Abel Ramos squares off with Emmanuel Robles.
PHOENIX (July 14, 2017) – What’s hotter than Phoenix in July? Roy Jones Jr. Boxing and the FIGHTNIGHT LIVE Facebook series will answer that question this Saturday, July 15, at 7:30 p.m. PT (10:30 p.m. ET) when the tech-forward, fan-friendly broadcast platform delivers once again – this time with a stacked fight card featuring championship action live from the desert.

Promoted by Roy Jones Jr. and Keith Veltre, Saturday’s event will bring fans back-to-back championship action. The event will showcase a main attraction featuring NABA Super Welterweight Champion John “The Phenom” Vera Jr. (16-0, 10 KOs) as he takes on the former WBO Latino Champion Daniel Rosario (11-2, 10 KOs) in a 10-round contest live from in Chandler, Ariz. Super bantamweight standout and former WBA World Champion Rico Ramos (25-5, 13 KOs) will go toe-to-toe with Tony Lopez (12-2, 4 KOs) for the vacant NABA Super Bantamweight title as part of a stacked fight card filled with Arizona-area heroes.

“Roy and I have always felt that live streaming would take the place of the old platforms of delivering fights,” stated Veltre, CEO and Co-Founder of Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions. “To partner up with Linacre Media and showcase our talent live with Facebook is years ahead of anyone else in the industry. This will give us the ability to reach millions of boxing fans around the world and enable us to deliver our sponsors triple the exposure we would normally get from traditional TV. Mark Fratto, the brains behind this envisioning series, is giving fighters the opportunity to showcase their talent to the world and gain a fan base. We are thrilled that his vision lines exactly where Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions wants to be.”

Vera, of Fort Worth, Texas, has a perfect mark of 16-0 with ten knockouts, and is ranked No. 7 by the WBA and No. 14 by the WBO.

The 28 year-old southpaw has built that mark on the strength of beating good competition. He has defeated Alberto Robles (3-0) and Radmir Akhmediyev (7-0). He won the NABA title with a sixth-round stoppage over Joey Rueles (10-1-1). He has defended the title successfully twice with a second-round stoppage over Milorad Zizc (12-1), and in his last bout when he won a 10-round split decision over Salim Larbi on January 27 in Phoenix.

Rosario is coming off an eight-round split decision loss to Norberto Gonzalez on November 18, 2016, in Las Vegas.

Ramos, of Watts, Calif., has a record of 27-5 with 13 knockouts. The 30 year-old won the WBA Super Bantamweight title with a seventh-round stoppage over Akifumi Shimoda in 2011. After losing the title, he fought for the world championship again, but lost to Jesus Cuellar. Ramos is on a three-fight win streak with his latest victory coming via a 10-round unanimous decision over Erik Ruiz on March 11 in Las Vegas.

Lopez, of Fort Worth, Texas, has a record of 12-2 with four knockouts. Lopez has defeated three undefeated fighters; included in that is a win over highly regarded Jerren Cochran (11-0). Lopez is coming off a fifth-round technical decision over Ranel Suco this past April 27 in Dallas.

The stacked undercard includes an eight-round welterweight clash between Abel Ramos (17-2, 12 KOs) of Phoenix battling Emmanuel Robles (15-2, 4 KOs). Four more undercard fights will start the bill off with fights featuring undefeated bantamweight Max Ornelas (8-0-1, 3 KOs) rematching fellow undefeated warrior, Leopoldo Martinez (6-0-1, 3 KOs) – their last bout ended in a technical draw following a headbutt. Super featherweight Randy Moreno (8-1, 7 KOs) takes on local favorite Ivan De La Madrid (3-1) and welterweight Vernon Brown (4-0, 3 KOs) of Chicago puts his undefeated slate on the line against fellow unbeaten battler Daniel Castro Jr. (2-0, 2 KOs) of Durango, Mexico.

Further, by putting these events on Facebook we’re providing an interactive environment for fight fans to not only view the events, but to connect with each other and provide their own real-time commentary during the bouts. We believe in high-quality, cost-efficient production that can give fans free access to hundreds of global, national and regional live fight nights without breaking the bank of the promoter and also without sacrificing what sports fans have come to expect from their viewing experience – multiple camera angles, graphics, replays and behind-the-scenes access and interviews. We don’t want traditional fans, digital customers and cord-cutters to be relegated to trying to watch other spectators’ live feeds off their cell phones.”

The streamed shows are available globally wherever Facebook is available. Iceman John Scully’s 6th Official Amateur Boxing Reunion

Saturday, March 18, 2017
12:00 Noon (until around 3 pm)
@ Monique’s Lounge (aka 108 Lounge)
181 East 108th Street
East Harlem, New York
10029
I am proud to officially announce my 6th Official Amateur Boxing Reunion that will take place on March 18 at Monique’s Lounge in Harlem, New York. I am expecting by far the largest turn out of any of the previous 5 reunions which were held twice at Rival Boxing in Las Vegas, once at Jimmy’s Corner in Manhattan and once each at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos.
Of the over 100 boxers attending this far, among them I expect the likes of 1988 Olympic Silver medalist Riddick Big Daddy Bowe, NYC Golden Gloves Champ “Poison” Junior Jones, 1984 Olympic champ Mark Breland, 1974 National Junior Olympic champ Marlon Starling, 1996 USA Olympic team captain Lawrence Clay-Bey and 1988 National Golden Gloves Champion Mark “Too Sharp” Johnson.
At my past reunions, including the most recent one held at the Rival Boxing Store in Las Vegas on November 18, we’ve had the likes of Roy Jones Jr., Alex “The Bronx Bomber” Ramos, 1992 Olympian Montell Griffin, former three time world champions Mike McCallum and Iran Barkley, and “The Fighter” and Irish Micky Ward in attendance.
Among the most special of moments at my reunions, we had Mike McCallum and Alex Ramos, who met each other in the semi-finals of the 1980 NYC Golden Gloves, reconnect in Las Vegas in late 2014, we had Luis Ortiz and Lawrence Clay-Bey, who were brought together in 2015 at Foxwoods after not only not seeing each other in 38 YEARS but after not even knowing they fought against each other in 1977 until just a few days before they reunited and in NYC over the summer of 2015 we had 1984 New York City Golden Gloves 156 pound champion and runner up Dennis “The Magician” Milton and Jesse Lanton connect once again.
Any media who wish to attend the event in Harlem, New York on March 18 are more than welcome to be a part of the festivities.

Former world champion Imamu Mayfield interested in tonight’s Jones – Gunn clash

Freehold , NJ (Feb. 17, 2017) – Former IBF World Cruiserwight word champion Imamu Mayfield has thrown his hat in the ring to face the winner of tonight’s Roy Jones, Jr. – Bobby Gunn WBF World Cruiserweight title bout that will shown LIVE on Pay-Per-View.

Mayfield of Freehold , New Jersey ended a eight-year hiatus in losing to then-undefeated heavyweight Dan Pasciolla, but came back to Knockout a game Anthony Caputo Smith in six-rounds on November 12th in Atlantic City.

Mayfield’s longtime friend/manager Vinny LaManna is adamant that that Mayfield will have the right style to beat Jones or Gunn.

“This is a fight we would love to have. Imamu is in great shape, and after his win over Caputo Smith, he has the confidence that he can beat any cruiserweight out there,” said LaManna. “Jones has beating lesser guys, and a win over either of them would catapult Imamau back into the rankings and then he can see his way back to the title. The fight would make sense as it would put two older guys together in a fight that would have meaning. I am rooting for Gunn tonight, Bobby is a gentleman. If Bobby can pull the victory off tonight, Mayfield vs Gunn would be a big draw in New Jersey because both guys live in the Garden State. The point being is simple, if Imamu can’t beat the likes of Roy Jones’s or Bobby Gunn than who can he beat?”
