BOARDWALK BOXING LAUNCHES IN ATLANTIC CITY

Rising Star Promotions Assembles Dream Team to Elevate Atlantic City to its Former Boxing Glory
ATLANTIC CITY – January 4, 2018 – In its heyday, Atlantic City was home to some of boxing’s most storied fighters, most memorable fights, and an unmatched atmosphere, punctuated by glitz, glamour, sweat and blood.    With Rising Star Promotions’ launch of its new boxing series, Boardwalk Boxing, the budding promotional outfit hopes to return the city to its former pugilistic glory.  On February 24, the series debuts at The Showboat Atlantic City, and features talent from New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York.
Boardwalk Boxing aims to continue the city’s legacy of legendary fights and glamorous nights, honoring the rich history of boxing in Atlantic City.  Rising Star Promotions plans to bring together local boxing gyms, fans and businesses to provide a platform for local and regional boxers to showcase their talent.  “We want to bring the glory days of Atlantic City boxing back to the present,” said Rising Star Promotions CEO Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna, who plans to fight in the series’ inaugural event.  “This city means so much to me personally and professionally, and after doing shows at the Claridge for the past two years and outgrowing that venue, it’s an honor to launch Boardwalk Boxing at the Showboat.  We are extremely grateful for the opportunity.”
The 26 year old fighter drafted some of boxing’s top talent to help launch the series, reaffirming his commitment to the city and the boxing community that began with the launch of his promotional company in 2015.
The series marks Hall of Fame Matchmaker Russell Peltz‘s return to Atlantic City, a locale that helped cement his legacy as one of the best matchmakers in the history of boxing.  LaManna counts Peltz’s events among the most memorable of his childhood.  “You knew that when you went to one of Russell Peltz’s events, you were going to get great, memorable fights.”  LaManna is thrilled to add the hall of famer to his team.  “At the end of the day, he’s part of the history of Atlantic City.  It feels great that he believed in us enough to come on board.”
‘Raging Babe’ Michelle Rosado has also been added to the Rising Star Promotions team ahead of the launch of Boardwalk Boxing.  The marketing strategist and boxing enthusiast brings her brand of grassroots, boots on the ground promotional talent to the boardwalk for the launch of the series.
Brandon Dixon, Chief Operating Officer of Showboat Hotel’s parent company, Tower Investments, is thrilled about the return of world-class boxing to the property.  “Our venue is the most user-friendly destination for event planners on the entire Atlantic City Boardwalk,” said Dixon. “We couldn’t think of a better way to open our space up to the public than with the launch of the Boardwalk Boxing Series and Rising Star Promotions this February for a night that our guests will not forget.”
The city’s boxing history is unparalleled.  Atlantic City’s favorite son, Hall of Fame fighter Arturo “Thunder” Gatti, fought 22 of his 49 fights in the city, including the second and third installments of his legendary trilogy with “Irish” Micky Ward.  Some of the sport’s biggest names graced the ring in the city along the boardwalk over the years.  Heavyweights Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Larry Holmes fought a combined 24 times in Atlantic City. Roy Jones, Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Roberto DuranMiguel Cotto, Kelly PavlikMatthew Saad Muhammad, Mike Rossman, Jeff Chandler, andAaron Pryor have all been part of the city’s vast boxing history.
Card information for the inaugural Boardwalk Boxing event will be released next week.  Boardwalk Boxing will be streamed live via FightNight Live on Facebook.

Niall Kennedy wins controversial decision versus defending champion Alexis Santos to capture New England heavyweight title

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BROADWAY BOXING RESULTS

MASHANTUCKET, CT (September 16, 2017) – Undefeated Irishman Niall “Boom Boom” Kennedy won a controversial 10-round split decision versus defending champion Alexis Santos to capture the New England heavyweight championship in last night’s (Saturday) main event of Broadway Boxing held in Fox Theater, at Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, CT.
The Broadway Boxing series is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and presented by Nissan of Queens, Azad Watches, OPTYX, and Christos Steak House. Last night’s show, which was streamed by FightNight LIVE on Facebook, was promoted in association with Murphys Boxing.
Kennedy (9-0, 5 KOs), fighting out of Galway, Ireland, by way of Boston, battled Santos in a competitive, action-packed brawl to be awarded the N.E. title by scores of 96-93, 96-93, 93-96. The majority of fans in attendance, outside of Kennedy’s Irish supporters, and the ringside media felt that Santos, from Lawrence, MA, had the edge and deserved the decision.
Referee Al LoBianco deducted a point from Santos in the ninth round for a highly questionable low blow and failed to rule a knockdown when it appeared the ropes kept Kennedy upright in a tremendous last round surge from the Dominican American.
In the co-featured bout, former world champion Shelly “Shelito’s Way” Vincent (20-1, 1 KO), of Providence, RI, defeated former world title challenger Angel “Non-Stop” Gladney (9-13-1, 6 KOs) in a junior lightweight match. The colorful Vincent was the aggressor throughout the fight, effectively cutting off the ring, outboxing and walking down Gladney for a lop-sided eight-round unanimous decision (80-72, 80-71 twice).
Shelly Vincent (L) outclassed Angel Gladney
Rising Connecticut welterweight star “Marvelous” Mykquan Williams improved his record to 8-0 (4 KOs), pitching a complete shutout in an impressive six-round unanimous decision (all 60-54) win over a much more experienced and considerably taller Evincii “Prize Fighter” Dixon (7-20-2, 2 KOs). Williams is a 19-year-old from East Hartford who is a freshman at Manchester Community College.
Mykquan Williams (L) cruised to another victory
2012 Ukrainian Olympian Ievgen “The Ukrainian Lion” Khytrov (15-1, 13 KOs), fighting out of Brooklyn, bounced back from his only pro loss with a near shutout eight-round decision victory (80-72 twice, 79-73) over his always tough super middleweight adversary, battle-tested veteran Derrick “Superman” Finley (27-22-1, 18 KOs).
“It was different when I first started training after a loss,” Khytrov said after the fight. “I started to think more and work on my defense; to fight much smarter instead of just brawling, throwing punches, like I did before my loss. I came the US four years ago from a small country that’s not rich to become a world champion. I feel I’m back on the right track.
Ievgen Khytrov (R) bounced back with a solid win
Hot New England junior welterweight prospect Adrian “Tonka” Sosa (5-0, 4 KOs) stepped up in class against Mexican Francisco “El Mono” Medel (11-10, 7 KOs), and remained undefeated by displaying his overall game, offensively and defensively. Fighting out of Lawrence, MA, the 2014 N.E. amateur champion Sosa dropped Medal with a straight right in the first round, a sneaky body shot in the second and finished him off in the third with a crisp right to the temple as referee Al LoBianco immediately halted the action.
Pro-debuting welterweights Nicky DeQuattro (1-0, 1 KO) and Timothy Wheeler (0-1) engaged in a street fight from the opening bell until DeQuartro, fighting out of Johnson, RI, connected with an overhand right that dropped his New York City rival.  Moments later, DeQuattro unleashed a four-punch combination that dropped Wheeler for a complete 10-count.
The night started with a barnburner as former Irish amateur standout Ray Moylette (6-0, 2 KOs) kept his undefeated pro record intact but it certainly wasn’t easy.  Moylette overcame a second-round knockdown, coming back strong in the second half of the fight to take a six-round split decision versus game junior welterweight Donte Bryant (1-3-1, 1 KO).

FIGHTNIGHT LIVE TO COMPLETE WEEKEND TWINBILL WITH CES BOXING AT TWIN RIVER CASINO ON SATURDAY

Fan-friendly, interactive platform stages second show of the weekend – and seventh in five months – in Providence prior to GGG-Canelo.
NEW YORK (Sept. 14, 2017) – Three weeks after establishing its first 200,000-viewer audience prior to Mayweather-McGregor, Facebook FIGHTNIGHT LIVE and CES Boxingplan to partner once again this Saturday with a three-hour show leading into HBO PPV coverage of GGG-Canelo. Renowned promoter Jimmy Burchfield Sr. has set the stage with an excellent card filled with local competitors on Sept. 16 at Twin River Casino and the tech-forward, fan-friendly Facebook broadcast platform will carry the action, beginning at 7 p.m., to complete its first “doubleheader weekend” – as FIGHTNIGHT LIVE delivers back-to-back shows on Friday and Saturday.

“For more than 25 years, CES has delivered boxing excitement to fans all over the world. The tradition continued [at Foxwoods on Aug. 26] when we teamed with FIGHTNIGHT LIVE by using cutting edge technology allowing fight fans to view the fights live on Facebook. This historic, record-setting event was the result of a great production team and action-packed, competitive fights,” said CES President Burchfield Sr.

The main event stars two intriguing welterweights battling for championship glory. After defeating Bronx vet Issouf Kinda by knockout in a controversial bout at Foxwoods on Aug. 26, New Haven, Conn., vet Jimmy Williams jumps right back into the fire less than three weeks later to face New Jersey’s “The Beast” Juan Rodriguez Jr. Shortly after his Sept. 16 return was announced, Williams’ wife, Christina, gave birth to twin boys, Logan and Austin. Now 14-0-1 (6 KOs), Williams has won 10 consecutive bouts and Saturday marks the second defense of his WBC USNBC welterweight championship.

Also featured on Saturday night in separate bouts: hard-hitting New England heavyweight Joey Cusumano (11-9, 9 KOs), Anthony Marsella Jr. of Providence (5-0, 2 KOs), Ray Oliveira Jr. of New Bedford, Mass. (7-1, 1 KO) and others.

“We’re extremely proud to watch Facebook FIGHTNIGHT LIVE reach another milestone this weekend, with outstanding shows in New England on back-to-back nights,” said Mark Fratto, Principal and Director of Business Development, Linacre Media. “Fight fans will be fired up for GGG-Canelo – including us – but we’re particularly excited to fulfill our mission to showcase local and regional up-and-coming fighters. We’ll be delivering at least 12 bouts across the two nights this weekend, providing a wide-reaching platform for 24 boxers of varied backgrounds and accomplishments to showcase their skills.”

Over the first five months of programming, the numbers on the FIGHTNIGHT LIVE series have showed promise and potential for the new platform with an average of more than 113,000 fight fans tuning in per event. The Sept. 9 “Real Deal Promotions: Empire State” from Resorts World Casino (224,658), the August “Super Saturday” from Foxwoods (203,000), the July Roy Jones Jr. “Desert Showdown” from Phoenix (63,000), the May “Slugfest at the Sun” from Mohegan Sun (45,000) and the June “Rosemont Rumble” from Chicago (32,000) saw a total of more than 12,700 total hours of Facebook video consumed by 567,000-plus users across all devices.

In addition to the raw viewership numbers, the fully-interactive, fan-friendly productions have seen more than 71,000 collective live post engagements (14,000-plus per show), including more than 40,400 “likes” or “loves,” more than 10,300 comments and 3,200-plus shares. FIGHTNIGHT LIVE broadcasts are viewed by 76 percent men, 24 percent women. The top demographic is comprised of males aged 25-34, which encompasses approximately 30 percent of the audience, on average.

The Sept. 9 “Real Deal Promotions: Empire State” set a new bar with 224,658 views and carried the series to over half-a-million views in just under four months, while the Aug. 26 Foxwoods “Super Saturday” show stands out individually with 201,935 views across 3,336 live hours of content, with 8,224 viewer interactions including 1,133 “likes” or “loves,” 1,570 comments and 1,392 shares.

FIGHTNIGHT LIVE SETS NEW RECORD WITH 200,000-PLUS FACEBOOK VIEWS FOR SATURDAY SHOW

Fan-friendly, interactive combat sports channel averages audience of 85,000 per show during first four months of action.
NEW YORK (Sept. 1, 2017) – Before fight fans turned their attention to the desert with knockout PPV numbers last Saturday, the FIGHTNIGHT LIVE Facebook series landed a massive haymaker of its own. Linacre Media and CES Boxing partnered on a pre Mayweather-McGregor card that ran from 6-9:30 p.m. ET live from Foxwoods in Connecticut, with the tech-forward, fan-friendly Facebook broadcast platform drawing an audience of 201,935 fight fans, and counting.

“Fight fans were primed and ready for Saturday night’s mega-event from Las Vegas, and we were pleased to be able to entertain so many with great fights from Foxwoods for the hours leading up to Showtime PPV,” said Mark Fratto, Principal and Director of Business Development, Linacre Media. “Of course we had some fans thinking they’d get to see Mayweather-McGregor, but we were quick to point them in the proper direction for that content. The hundreds of thousands that stayed on our platform saw some great action, including a wild ending in the CES main event. As a matter of fact, we saw 50,000 more fight fans log-in on Sunday to review the closing moments, and as always with our interactive Facebook shows, offer their own opinions and interpretations. We’re pleased to be able to announce that seven or more shows are being added to the calendar from September through November, including one leading into GGG – Canelo.”
