Today marks the 36th anniversary of the epic middleweight championship battle between Hagler and Hearns. Long considered the high-water mark of the Four Kings era, Hagler-Hearns stands out for the drama and brutal non-stop action that was compressed into just over eight minutes from start to finish. Following a brief fallow period in the wake of Ali’s retirement, boxing was revitalized when Leonard became a world champion in 1979 and waged his first battle with Durán in 1980. From that point, the Four Kings engaged in a decade-long run of riveting fights that far outperformed any other sport in attention and revenue. They were the most popular stars of sports and American culture.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Ronde. (Juni 4, 2020) - Zoals veel boksers, twee-divisie wereldkampioen "El Gallo" Jose Antonio Rivera credits boksen voor het redden van zijn leven.
"Absoluut,'Rivera was het daarmee eens. Rivera was een echte wereldkampioen werken. Weinig wereldkampioenen hadden tijdens hun titelregering ook een voltijdbaan. Rivera gebruikte vakantietijd, evenals persoonlijke en ziektedagen, toen hij naar een trainingskamp ging voor enkele van zijn grote gevechten.

Over Michael Spinks Spinks is een wereldkampioen in twee divisies, de onbetwiste titel van licht zwaargewicht hebben gehouden 1983 naar 1985, en de lineaire zwaargewicht titel van 1985 naar 1988. Hij werd opgenomen in de International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1994. Als amateur won hij een gouden medaille in de middengewichtsklasse bij de 1976 Olympische Zomerspelen.

Duran Jr. had to be on top form as Santana pulled out all the stops to try and prevent the Floridian securing his maiden UK victory, Duran Jr. though had bought his ‘A game’ and was more than happy to go to war with the tough Nicaraguan and after four scintillating all action rounds it was Duran Jr that Referee Adrian Thorne deemed victorious by a 40-37 punten marge.

On May 18th 2006 Kiyan’s life came to a tragic, untimely and unnecessary end. The loving nature, by which he was known, was what made him step in and defend his friend who was being picked on by another youth.
The incident took place outside the gates of his school, the London Academy, located in Edgware North London. Kiyan attempted to resolve the situation in the most peaceable way by directly challenging the aggressor.
The ‘killer’, 16 year old Hannad Hasan, felt that Kiyan had disrespected him because he stood up to him. He then turned and callously killed Kiyan – plunging a knife straight into his chest. Kiyan died of a single, but fatal, stab wound to his heart.
Kiyan, who played for Queens Park Rangers Under-16’s football team. He was dubbed ‘The Bullet’ because of his speed and he was hailed as the next Wayne Rooney… tipped to play for England.
Kiyan was a beautiful, thoughtful, kind and considerate young man. . How he lived was reflected in the way he died… in probably the last words he ever spoke…
Even though he must have been very scared and in pain… in dying he still represented the life he lived. His heart was so full of love and empathy for others. In his final minutes his thoughts were, zelfs dan, still of others. As he lay bleeding he told his friends: “if these are my last words… tell my Mum I love her.”

Dr Mark Prince is CEO and Founder of the Kiyan Prince Foundation, a charity borne out of pain, suffering and grief. Through a series of personal challenges (dakloos, drugs and alcohol abuse and criminal activity); triumphs and tragedy, the then known Mark Prince, developed a burning desire to support young people embroiled in a downward spiral of urban violence. Tijdens de middengewichttitelwedstrijd van afgelopen weekend tussen Canelo Alvarez en Daniel Jacobs vond ook de jaarlijkse Box Fan Expo plaats, gehouden in het Las Vegas Convention Center. De geweldige memorabilia die werden tentoongesteld en de live amateurboksactie vormden een aanvulling op een reeks voormalige en huidige wereldkampioenenvechters die beschikbaar zijn voor snelle meet & greets.
Als een levenslange boksfan, het was jammer dat ik maar iets meer dan twee uur te besteden had aan het evenement voordat ik terugging naar de T-Mobile Arena voor de start van de undercard-wedstrijden. De tijd die ik kon besteden was ontzettend plezierig. De prijzen waren redelijk om aan deze vurige legendes te voldoen en hebben even de tijd om te praten en foto's te maken. Het gemiddelde $20 -$25 de prijs voor een foto-op was aanzienlijk lager dan wat er bij een enkele roulette-draai in het casino verloren zou zijn gegaan.
James Toney was daar in een pak, bewijst dat hij zelfs een plaid er stijlvol uit kan laten zien. Voor een man die bekend staat om zijn nors karakter, hij was erg meegaand en zei dat hij in juni in Philadelphia zal zijn voor een liveshow 7 en hoopt me daar te zien.
In het hokje hiernaast stond Hall-of-Fame-omroep Al Berstein, die ik in 2011 had mogen interviewen. Toen ik werd verteld over mijn bewondering voor zijn stijlvolle werk en fan zijn sinds zijn dagen met Barry Tompkins op ESPN's Thursday Night Fights, hij was nederig en dankbaar.
De lijn om Roy Jones Jr. te ontmoeten. was lang maar het wachten waard. Terwijl de tijd om met Roy te praten kort was, Ik kon vermelden wat een eer het was om een van de grootste artiesten van mijn generatie te ontmoeten en hoe ik op slechts een paar meter van hem zat toen hij op de Creed II-set zat..
Terwijl de rij om de legendarische Sugar Ray Leonard te ontmoeten uitzonderlijk lang was, je kon zien dat hij het echt naar zijn zin had, die lach van een miljoen dollar flitsen en zijn beroemde foto met vuisten doen met fans. helaas, met korte tijd, Ik had niet de gelegenheid om een van mijn favoriete vechters te ontmoeten toen ik opgroeide. Ik had hem graag een foto laten zien toen ik vier jaar oud was, wegzwaaien op de Sugar Ray Leonard bokszak die ik kreeg.
Een paar meter verderop was een van Sugar Ray's beroemdste rivalen, de grote Thomas "Hitman" Hearns. Terwijl de huurmoordenaar wat vertraging heeft laten zien naarmate hij ouder is geworden, hij blijkt nog steeds een imposant figuur te zijn, maar nu vervangt hij die angstaanjagende blik door een warme glimlach.
Ook Thomas Hearns kwam opdagen om de huidige IBF Super-Featherweight-kampioen Tevin Farmer te ontmoeten, een mede-Philadelphian, die ik heb mogen zien groeien van een 7-4-1 gezel bokser naar een 29-4-1 wereldkampioen.
Mijn bezoek zou niet compleet zijn zonder te stoppen om "The Pazmanian Devil" Vinny Paz te zien, altijd een van mijn favoriete actiestrijders en charismatische persoonlijkheden. In plaats van een handdruk, hij begroette me met een dikke knuffel en uitte zijn teleurstelling dat mijn vader niet mee was op de expo.
In de korte tijd, het was onmogelijk om alle grote vechters daar te ontmoeten, inclusief Michael Spinks, Riddick Bowe, Errol Spence, Anthony Dirrell, en Earnie Shavers. Met het feit dat het Cinco de Mayo-weekend is, de regels voor enkele van de Mexicaanse legendes gewikkeld rond de vloer van het congrescentrum. Mikey Garcia, Marco Antonio Barerra, Erik Morales, en Juan Manuel Marquez bleken allemaal uitzonderlijk populair te zijn. Over Thomas Hearns Hearns meer plaats bekend als “De Hitman”, werd de eerste bokser in de geschiedenis om wereldtitels te winnen in vier divisies. Hij zou ook de eerste vechter in de geschiedenis te worden tot vijf wereldtitels te winnen in vijf verschillende divisies. Hearns werd uitgeroepen tot Ring Magazine-jager van het jaar 1980 en 1984 en is vooral bekend om zijn gevechten met Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler en Roberto Duran. Hij werd ingewijd in de Boxing Hall of Fame in 2012.

Atlantic City, N.J. – November 19, 2018 – The Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame (ACBHOF) heeft aangekondigd 2019 Inductie klasse. The Induction Weekend will take place at The Claridge, een Radisson Hotel gelegen aan Park Place & Promenade in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 21 – 23, 2019.
“We’re extremely excited about the Class of 2019 and are very much looking forward to paying tribute to the new inductees in Atlantic City at our 3rd annual induction weekend next June” said ACBHOF President and FounderRay McCline.

Bernard Hopkins will be inducted into his first Hall of Fame as part of the third annual class that will include a total of 19 inductees.
“I feel appreciated and it’s starting to settle in that I’m near that mark of living legend. I don’t see myself as a living legend. Let other people decide that. This is a great honor and I’m grateful for the Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame for making this happen,” Hopkinssaid in a November 16 RingTV interview with Joseph Santoliquito.
“Watch who you co-sign for; you can’t sell me black to get in the door. You can’t sell me white to get in the door. You can’t sell me half white or half black or none of that to get in the door. But you can sell me LOYALTY” said former two-division championBernard Hopkins.
The 3rd Annual Induction Ceremony & Celebration Weekend will honor some of the world’s most iconic figures from the sport of boxing: Butch Lewis, Nigel Collins, Engels “Bouie” Fisherand New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame’s PresidentHenry Hascupare just a few named who will be enshrined with the 2019 inductieles.
Inductees will be named in three categories: Fighter, Trainer & Cut-Men and Special Contributors.
