Del Valle excited for Tri State Area return
בייַאַמאָן, פּאָרטאַ ריקאָ (יולי 20, 2016) – As a teenager, Luis “Orlandito” Del Valle left his native Puerto Rico for Newburgh, NY where he resided for seven years. During his time in the Empire State amateur ranks, he made great strides in the ring and won multiple highly-competitive tournaments, most notably capturing the 2004 National Golden Gloves title.
As a pro, Del Valle had his first fight in New Jersey, hoisted the WBA-NABA championship in New York and Connecticut was the state that hosted his first appearance on HBO. קוילעלדיק, half of his 24 professional fights took place in the tri state area and the bilingual Del Valle built a solid fan following. אָבער, he hasn’t fought in the area since 2012.

On the contrary, there are those who take great pride in starring as an athlete and student; such as 17-year-old Joey Veazey.
Known by his moniker of “Bazooka Joe” Veazey is multi-time amateur champion and was ranked internationally. אויף דאנערשטאגאָוונט, Veazey fights Chris Perkins for the East Coast junior middleweight championship at Michael’s Eighth Ave in Glen Burnie, MD as a featured fighter on a card promoted by Baltimore Boxing.
The card serves as a tribute to Murray “Bushwacker” Smith Sr., father of Baltimore Boxing’s Jake Smith. Slated to compete in his 100טה match, Veazy is a big ticket seller in the Baltimore area and regularly draws large crowds when he enters the squared circle. To Veazey however, he is most proud of his accomplishments outside of the ring, where he’s an honor student finishing up his senior year at Northeast High School.

Most see being a fighter or student as a full time responsibility, but Veazey believes his work ethic and focus will help him continue to excel in and out of the ring.
"You have to be disciplined in the ring and classroom,” said Veazey. “I know there’s a lot on my plate but I thrive on excelling as a boxer, student and a trainer at the Baltimore Boxing Club. Focusing and paying attention to the task at hand helps keep me dialed in with whatever it is I’m doing at that time. לעסאָף, my goal is to continue excelling with my academics and win a world title. I believe both are reachable and can become a reality with continued hard work.”
סמיט, who has literally watched Veazey grow as a person and fighter during the last decade, has trained hundreds of fighters and considers Bazooka Joe one of his most special.
"Joey could’ve told himself boxing will be his everything because of how successful he’s been but he’s extremely humble and intelligent far beyond his years,"האט סמיט. “He literally goes from one task to another and excels at each of them. Whether he’s a world champion boxer, engineer, computer scientist or all of the above, Joey Veazey epitomizes what it means to be a well-rounded person and I’m very proud of him.”

Popular Clayton Frazier faces Elvin Rodriguez in a battle between boxers from the Baltimore Boxing Gym. פראַזיער, who has only two fights, is a crowd favorite and hopes to claim local bragging rights in what Smith calls the “Battle of Baltimore Boxing.”
Former basketball star Stefon “Showtime” McRay and future pro standout Donald Wallace will also appear on the card in separae bouts.

SECOND PRO BOXING BOUT ANNOUNCED FOR NEF 22

The fight card will feature a mix of mixed-martial-arts (ממאַ) and professional boxing bouts. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a light-heavyweight contest to the boxing portion of the “נעף 22” קאַמף קאָרט. קראָווסנעקק בוטאַן (0-0-1) איז סקעדזשולד צו פּנים Brandon Montella (3-0, 2 קאָס) in a four-round bout.
קראָווסנעקק בוטאַן, a regular on NEF MMA cards since 2012, made his professional boxing debut earlier this month on the “נעף 21” event in Lewiston. He fought Joel Bishop (0-0-2) to a draw in an exciting slugfest that had the Colisée crowd on the edge of its collective seat. Boutin, considered the underdog in that bout, expertly worked his jab to control the first two rounds of the fight. Like the Bishop match, Boutin is preparing for another war with Montella on אַפּריל 23.
“Brandon is a very tough opponent,” האט באָוטין. “He’s going to present me with many obstacles. My training is grueling and I’ll be prepared for a war.”
Brandon Montella is a 1998 graduate of Carrabec High School in North Anson, מיין. Following graduation, Montella joined the United States Marine Corps (וסמק) and served until 2003 with an honorable discharge. Montella worked in construction in Virginia until 2011 when he moved with his wife to the Boston, Massachusetts area. He owns and operates The Way, LLC boxing gym in Woburn, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ.
“Coming back home from to Maine after all these years to fight in a place of such history is an amazing feeling,” said Montella. “It will bring my friends and family from the past and the present together under one roof for an awesome event.”
Montella had a very successful amateur boxing career with a final record of 14-7. אין 2011, he won the prestigious Rocky Marciano Tournament. (פעברואַר 21, 2016) – The best amateur boxers in New England will compete this coming week in the open class semifinals and finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 70טה annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, דעם מיטוואך (פעברואר. 24) and Thursday (פעברואר. 25) evenings, ריספּעקטיוולי, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Tickets for the New England Tournament of Champions open class semifinals and finals are available to purchase, סטאַרטינג בייַ $17.00 for each event, by calling the Lowell Memorial Auditorium box office at 1.866.722.8881 or order online at www.LowellMemorialAuditorium.
Proceeds from the Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship go towards sending the New England Golden Gloves champions to the National Golden Gloves Championship (2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah), in addition to supporting local athletes and area gyms, the Boys & Girls Club, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, cancer funds, scholarships and many other great charitable causes.
Keeping with tradition, drawings for the semifinals will not be held until this Tuesday night. Winners in the semifinals will advance to the finals. At stake is a spot on Team New England for the 2016 National Golden Gloves Championships, מייַ 16-21, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
