NOVICE CLASS FINALS RESULTS FROM LOWELL
Lowell, מאַסע. (פעברואַר 19, 2016) – Fourteen 2016 New England Tournament of Champions winners were crowned last night in the novice class of 70טה annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Team Central produced the most individual winners with seven, followed by Team Western with five, and Team Central had two.
The unofficial fight of the night was between Salem, MA welterweight Kenny Larson (Team Central) and his Dorchester, MA opponent Jarrod LoMax (Team Southern), in which Larson won a three-round decision, 3-2.
Portland, ME bantamweight Christian Morales (Team Northern) continued his performance run in the tournament, winning a three-round decision, 5-0, over hometown Lowell favorite Marquis Fowler (Team Central) Morales’ impressive showings in the tournament will lead him into an open division spot in next week’s New Englands.
In a Central N.E. (Greater Lowell) heavyweight final rematch, due to a round-time issue, Methuen’s Jesus Flores (Canal Street Boxing) defeated Haverhill’s John Roche (Haverhill Downtown Boxing) by the same score as their original match in another thrilling, back-and-forth bout ending a in three-round decision (5-0). The crosstown rivalry between the two gyms and boxers led up to another compelling match with Flores qualifying for מיטוואָך night’s open class semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions.
The New England Tournament of Champions open class semifinals and finals will be held next Wednesday און דאָנערשטיקevenings, ריספּעקטיוולי, at Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The Outstanding New England Boxer in the novice class will be presented to the winner דעם מיטוואך night at the N.E. open semifinals.

York, פּאַ (פעברואַר 17, 2016) – Jeter Promotions is pleased to announce the signing of undefeated Welterweight prospect Steve Weimer to an exclusive promotional contract.
Weimer of York, פּאַ. האט אַ רעקאָרד פון 9-0 with two knockouts and is looking to get back in the ring following a four-year hiatus.
Weimer did not leave the ring because of the usual boxing stereotypes, but he took some time off to get his college degree. Weimer graduated from York College with a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology.
Weimer, איצט 26 years-old had an amateur record of 105-31 was a three-time Pennsylvania Junior Golden Gloves champion and and also won a Pennsylvania open class Golden Gloves title. He holds an amateur win over 140-pound contender Emanuel Taylor and held his own in a fight with future U.S. Olympian Sadam Ali.

Tony Jeter is a Middleweight contender who twice cracked the world rankings and fought Chris Eubank Jr. for the WBA Interim Middleweight title. Jeter formed his promotional company and promoted 20 געשעענישן. Jeter is a licensed promoter in Maryland, וואַשינגטאָן ד.ק., Virginia and is waiting to receive a promoters license in Pennsylvania.

Lowell, מאַסע. (פעברואַר 11, 2016) – Team Central had the edge in last night’s novice class semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

Lowell, מאַסע. (פעברואַר 5, 2016) – Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston dominated last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) championship final round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, open and novice classes, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Peter Welch’s Gym had seven winners last night: open – Hyde Park welterweight Jennifer Perella and Brookline light welterweight Abraham Nova; novice – Dorchester lightweightJonathen DePina און מידדלעוועיגהט ברייאַן לאָראַנס, East Boston lightweight Claire Duffy light welterweight, Boston light welterweight Katie Gregory and Franklin heavyweight Jared Gately.
Lowell West End Gym and Grealish Boston had the second-most winners last evening with two apiece.
Last night, 15 matches went the distance, including several upsets, along with one technical knockout and a two walkovers.
All CNE finals winners qualified to compete in the upcoming New England Tournament of Champions, also held at Lowell Memorial Auditorium, אָנהייב next Thursday night with the semifinals of the novice division.

(יאַנואַר 29, 2016) – For the second week in a row all 13 matches went the three-round distance in last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, featuring open and novice class action, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Returning New England welterweight champion קסאַוויער וועגאַ, representing Canal Street Boxing in Lawrence (מאַ), איז אַ 4-1 winner against Michael Fontenez, of Nashua, נה.
Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston led the hit parade with three winners, all in the novice class: לייטווייט Jonathan Depina, וועלטערוועיגהט Lipi Fernandes און מידדלעוועיגהט ברייאַן לאָראַנס. The Lowell West End Gym was the only other with more than one winner last night, both in the open class, לייטווייט Brandon Higgins and light welterweight Jeremiah Perez.

(יאַנואַר 25, 2016) – Returning New England Golden Gloves welterweight champion קסאַוויער וועגאַ, פון לאָראַנס (מאַ), leads a host of talented open and novice class amateur boxers into this Thursday night’s (Jan. 8) in the Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals of the 70טה annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The 21-year-old Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing, faces Nashua (נה) טשאַללענגער Michael Fontanez in one of eight open class matches. There are also eight novice class matches scheduled.
Vega, who has a 33-3 ליבהאָבער רעקאָרד, didn’t start boxing until he was 17 because he has only one kidney. A construction worker by day, Vega hopes to become a professional boxer and, אויב נישט, a Lawrence police officer in order to give back to his community.

A novice super heavyweight showdown between heavy hitters Ryan Brooks, of Weymouth (מאַ), and Boston’s Christian Ortiz. One of the most exciting boxers in action דעם דאנערשטאג evening is novice light welterweight Edwin Rozon, of Haverhill (מאַ). Arlington’s novice middleweight Peter Maher, representing the Somerville Boxing Club, is a promising prospect.

Lowell, מאַסע. (יאַנואַר 23, 2016) – The Central New England (Greater Lowell) quarterfinals round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship was held last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium with 13 highly competitive matches in the novice class.
אַלע 13 matches went the three-round distance for 39 rounds of action that the large crowed enjoyed from start to finish. The super heavyweight match between Dorchester’s 381-pound Ivens Derival and Haverhill’s 266-pound Kyle Davis was of special especially because of their respective sizes. Davis won by way of a three-round decision, 4-1, in a back-and-forth match that had fans standing throughout.
The CNE semifinals, featuring open and novice class matches, will be heldnext Thursday נאַכט (Jan. 28) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium. See the complete 2016 schedule below as well as last night’s results.
