LAS VEGAS, NV (September 24, 2017) – Unbeaten super-flyweight prospect, Damien “Sugar” Vazquez (11-0, 6 KOs), makes his return to the ring on October 14, 2017, at the Palenque de la Feria in AguascalientesMexico.  This fight, scheduled for 8-rounds, will mark the third time this year that Vazquez will have stepped in the ring, as he looks to extend on is winning streak.  An opponent will be announced shortly.
“It’s a good feeling knowing that I’ll be back in the ring after I just fought a few weeks ago.” said Vazquez. “My last fight happened on August 31st and I feel great.  Camp has started and I’m going to be ready for anyone my management team puts in front of me.  I’m going to Mexico once again to mark my territory.  I love fighting out there because the crowds are very rowdy.  Make no mistakes about it, I’m taking the super-flyweight division by storm.”
Co-trained by former world champion, Clarence “Bones” Adams, Damien Vazquez is the younger brother of former two-time super-bantamweight world champion, Israel Vazquez, who also serves as his co-trainer.  Bones and Israel train Vazquez at the Prince Ranch Boxing gym in Las Vegas.  Prince Ranch Boxing’s Greg Hannley, co-manages Damien with his father, Oscar Vazquez.  Damien has his own promotional company titled Sugar Promotions.
“I’m very proud of my son and what he’s accomplished thus far in his career.” said Oscar Vazquez. “He became the youngest fighter to win the NABF title at 17-years old, after turning pro at age 16.  We flew in Jonathan Lecona, a natural super-bantamweight out of Mexico, to help Damien get used to fighting bigger guys.  He’s looking real sharp, and he’s going to be explosive in this fight.”
“Here at the Prince Ranch boxing facility we pride ourselves on making our fighters better, by giving them the necessary tools to become world champions.” said Greg Hannely, “Bones Adams and Israel Vazquez, two former world champions, are excellent trainers and our facility is home to some spectacular boxers.  The boxing world will be seeing the rise of this gym, and all our fighters.  Damien is a special talent and I see him fighting for a meaningful title soon.”
“My brother is getting better with each fight,” said brother and co-trainer Israel Vazquez. “I see his improvement in the gym on a daily basis.  Our goal is to go to Mexico in a couple of weeks and make a statement.  Damian is ready to take his career to the next level.”
“Damien is a really good fighter.” said co-trainer Clarence “Bones” Adams, “He’s coming along just fine.  He certainly has heart like his brother Israel, and his skills are elite in my opinion. I know this kid can do some special things in this sport if he continues on path he’s on right now.”

Fast-Rising Undefeated Junior Welterweight Eddie Ramirez Meets Rugged Former Champion Antonio DeMarco in Primetime Battle

Premier Boxing Champions on FOX & FOX Deportes
Saturday, October 14 from StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
CARSON, CALIF. (September 25, 2017) – Undefeated rising junior welterweight contender Eddie Ramirez (17-0, 11 KOs) will step up and take on former world champion Antonio DeMarco (32-6-1, 23 KOs) in a 10-round match to open the television broadcast of the Premier Boxing Champions card on FOX and FOX Deportes on Saturday, Oct. 14 from StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
Televised coverage begins at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT. and is headlined by sensational three-division champion Leo “El Terremoto” Santa Cruz defending his featherweight world title against Chris Avalos and four-time world champion Abner Mares defending his 126-pound championship against once-beaten Andres Gutierrez.
Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by Ringstar Promotions and TGB Promotions, are priced at $30, $50, $75, $100, $150, and $250 and are on sale now. To purchase tickets, visit AXS.com.
The 25-year-old Ramirez has made rapid progress this year in a 2017 that saw him jump from prospect to contender. He started the year with a rousing ninth-round TKO over then unbeaten Ryan Karl on Feb. 2 and followed that up with a victory over veteran Erick Bone in June.  Fighting out of Aurora, Illinois, Ramirez won three times in 2016, including a knockout victory over then undefeated Kevin Watts.
“I’m trying to make a statement, and if I’m able to take him out, I’ll take him out,” said Ramirez. “But I’m also going to be smart at the same time. He’s a veteran southpaw and a former champion, but his time is up and my time is now. So we’re prepared for whatever comes our way. I’ll do whatever it takes to win. I’ve been in a lot of tough fights, but they’ve all been worth it to get me prepared to become a world champion. I’ve been sparring with some big, tough guys and I’m ready to take on another one to get up there with the top fighters in the division.”
The 31-year-old DeMarco of Tijuana, Mexico has an outstanding resume, which includes matches against Adrien Broner, Rances Barthelemy, Omar Figueroa, Jr., and Jessie Vargas. DeMarco won the lightweight world championship with a TKO victory over Jorge Linares in 2011 and successfully defended it twice before losing it to Broner in 2012.  Most recently DeMarco won a unanimous decision over Luis Solis in their 10-round bout in February.
“This is a very important fight at this point for my career,” DeMarco said. “I’m going to prove that I still have a lot to give in this sport and this wide-open division. Ramirez is a young, undefeated fighter and a very tough opponent, but I’ve been in a lot of big fights and as a former champion, I definitely believe that he has never faced an experienced southpaw opponent like me. I’ll wear him down, round-by-round and if the knockout presents itself, I’ll definitely go for it.

“I know he’s a dangerous fighter, but I’m very calm and confident because of the experience I’ve gained and the camp I’m having. I know the truth about myself, and emotionally and physically, I’m 100 percent.”

Fans can live stream the fights on FOX Sports GO, available in English or Spanish through the FOX or FOX Deportes feeds. The fights are available on desktop at FOXSportsGO.com and through the app store, or connected devices including Apple TV, Android TV, Fire TV, Xbox One and Roku. Toe-to-toe action commenced from the opening bell as both Biaz and his opponent Calzada, went right at each other.  Biaz, a southpaw, was throwing hard punches, landing his signature straight left throughout the entire fight, in addition to his powerful right hooks.  Calzada, stood his ground, but was getting beat to the punch.  Calzada had his moments, but was outworked by Biaz, who was determined to come out victorious in front of his hometown fans.  The fight was fought in a phone-booth for four rounds and the fans were thrilled to see these two warriors go at it.  At the end, Biaz came out on top as the score cards read 39-37 twice, and 40-36, all in favor of Daniel.
“I’m just wanted to give my hometown fans a great show.” said Daniel Baiz, “This was my first time fighting at the Alamodome and it was a great experience.  Calzada was a very tough opponent but I wasn’t going to be denied in front of all my family and friends.  I know with hard work, I can put myself in a great position to land a big fight.’
“Daniel is a hungry fighter who works hard in the gym.” manager Greg Hannley stated, “I know he’s going to be a tough out for anyone who steps in the ring with him. He’s learned a lot since suffering his first loss a couple of fights ago.  He’s always in great shape and I know with a few more fights, he’ll be ready to step up in competition.  He’s one of the most crowd-pleasing fighters I know and he has the heart of a champion.  In this fight he showed why he’s so poplar to all those who’ve seen him fight…he’s truly a beast.”

Ruben Villa and Michael Dutchover remain undefeated with wins in Ontario, California

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PHILADELPHIA, PENN./ORANGE, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2017) – Heralded prospects, featherweight Ruben Villa and junior lightweight Michael Dutchover remained perfect with unanimous decision victories this past Friday night in Ontario, California.
Ruben Villa (8-0, 4 KOs) of Salinas, Calif. displayed his superior talent by out boxing veteran Ernesto Guerrero (26-20, 18 KOs) of Mexico through six rounds. Villa swept all three scorecards (60-54) to continue an impressive start to his young career.

In what was perhaps his toughest test to date, Villa performed admirably and displayed his quickness by darting in and out of danger, all the while landing power shots to the head and body.

“We had a game plan for Guerrero, and we executed it perfectly,” Villa said. “We gave him different looks and fought him from different angles. I don’t think he ever got comfortable.”

Villa is promoted by Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing.

Dutchover (6-0, 4 KOs) of Midland, Tex. knocked down Mexico’s Carlos Flores (4-6-1, 3 KOs) in the opening round to get things going on his way to a unanimous decision sweep (40-35).

Throughout the fight, Dutchover snapped his left jab to set up an inside attack that left Flores bruised and battered by the fourth round.

“I had a lot of success working off the jab,” said Dutchover, who is co-promoted by Banner Promotions and Thompson Boxing. “I’m happy with the win. I’ll rest for a little, and then I’ll be back in the gym working to get better.”

Olympian Nico Hernandez remains undefeated Tramaine Williams, Armando Alvarez & Zhilei Zhang victorious

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“KO NIGHT BOXING” RESULTS FROM KANSAS
PALM CITY, Kansas (September 24, 2017) – The name of last night’s “KO Night Boxing: Step Up” event certainly was appropriate as 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Nico Hernandez had to overcome a major obstacle to remain undefeated at Hartman Arena in Palm City, Kansas.
“KO Night Boxing: Step Up!” was a presentation of KO Night Boxing LLC., in association with Roc Nation Sports and Hartman Arena, sponsored by Mort’s Cigar Bar, Jimmy Egg and Twister City Harley-Davidson. The action was taped live for future airing on CBS Sports Network.
St. Louis southpaw Kendrick “Uprising” Latchman outweighed regular flyweight Hernandez by more than 10 pounds when the two fighters entered the ring because Hernandez’ scheduled opponent, Basyzbek Baratov (2-1-2), abruptly pulled out of the fight after the weigh in due to a contractual disagreement. Hernandez weighed in at 113 pounds, Baratov was 112, which was the contracted weight. The Kansas Athletic Commission, however, automatically allows one-pound over for all non-title fights. Baratov refused to fight but Latchman agreed to fight at a 125-pound catchweight. Hernandez gained four pounds and the fight was on.
Wichita hero Hernandez was unmoved by the late change, largely due to his standout amateur career, in which his opponents often changed at the last moment. Latchman (1-5-1, 1 KO) is a pro boxer-MMA hybrid fighter who is 6-3 (5 KOs) in MMA, including a 55-second stoppage of 14-7-1 Cody Land this past July.
Latchman buzzed Hernandez in the first round, much to the chagrin of the Hernandez’ loud hometown crowd. The U.S. Olympian displayed a good chin and went on to win a six-round unanimous decision to improve his pro record to 3-0 (2 KOs).
“They (his corner and fans) were nervous,” the 21-year-old Hernandez said after the fight, “but I wasn’t. My coach (father Lewis Hernandez) told me to feint and go in, but I lunged a little too much. Hey, I’m staying in my division (flyweight) before moving up in weight.”
“Nico had to step up, fighting a new opponent on 24-hour notice, along with the difference in their weights,” promoter John Andersen commented. “Everything turned out okay but it wasn’t an easy fight. My palms were a little sweaty in the first round when he got hit hard, but Nico pulled out the win and he’ll be an even better fighter because of this experience. His father said Nico had never been hit like that before. It was a good card and the crowed was really into it.”
KO Night Boxing LLC announced that Hernandez would return December 2 to headline another show at Hartman Arena.
USBA No. 2- rated featherweight Tramaine “The Might Midget” Williams (13-0, 5 KOs), fighting out of New Haven (CT), cruised to his 13th victory without a defeat, taking a one-sided 10-round unanimous decision over Derrick Murray (13-3, 5 KOs), in the co-featured event.
Key West, FL welterweight Armando “The Gentleman: Alvarez (17-0, 11 KOs) remained undefeated, winning a 10-round unanimous decision against Hungarian champion Gabor “Squirrel” Gorbics (23-8, 14 KOs) in a competitive Special Welterweight Attraction. Alvarez is the WBC Latino welterweight title holder.
Undefeated Chinese heavyweight prospect Zhilei “Big Bang” Zhang (18-0, 14 KOs), the reigning WBO Oriental champion, needed only 2:28 to stop veteran Byron “The Bear” Polley(30-22-1, 13 KOs). Zhang, as well as Williams, are promoted by Roc Nation Sports.
In the most dramatic fight of the night, Los Angeles heavyweight Scott Alexander (13-2-2, 7 KOs) rebounded from being decked, as well as a pre-fight cut, to knockout 361-pound Richard “Silverback” Carmack (15-12-1, 12 KOs) in the second round. Alexander suffered a cut on his shin that resulted from a step breaking as he entered the ring.
Milwaukee junior middleweight Akeem Black (3-1, 1 KO) won three of four rounds on all three judges’ scorecards for a four-round unanimous decision over Marcus Neal (2-2, 2 KOs).
Wichita light heavyweight Jeff Strum pitched a shutout in his pro debut against Topeka’s (KS) previously unbeaten Chris Ortega (3-1-1), winning all four rounds in impressive fashion.

Nate “The Train” Landwehr celebrated his first M-1 win
The judges were very busy working the undercard as only two fights ended before the full distance with Russian featherweight knocking out his countryman, pro-debuting Rinat Shakirov in the third round, and Russian lightweight Viktor Kolesnik (11-3-1, M-1: 2-0-1) doing the same to Netherlands kickboxing specialist Brian Hooi (14-7-0, M-1: 0-1-0), only in the opening round.
Ukrainian light heavyweight Vadim Shabadash (5-2-0, M-1: 1-0-0) and Russian bantamweight Alexander Osetrov won unanimous decisions over, respectively, Russian Kirill Kusmin (2-1-0, M-1: 0-1-0) and pro-debuting Lenar Suleymanov, of Russia.

Bellator 183 Results and Photos

Patricky “Pitbull” defeated Benson Henderson via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Quote:
“I want the champion. I want Brent Primus. Tonight I took down another former champion and I want my shot at that belt,” Patricky Freire said. “He keeps running from me but now it’s time. I want that belt and after tonight I earned my shot at it. Benson Henderson is a good, tough fighter, but I’ve got my mind on the division title now. You can’t keep running Primus.”
Paul Daley defeated Lorenz Larkin via knockout at 2:40 of round two
Quote:
“The fight went as planned. I felt great and I knew how this would end,” Paul Daley said. “Lorenz Larkin was acting very uncharacteristically leading up to the fight and when I saw all of his antics and what not, I knew the fight would only end one way and that’s with him flat on the canvas.”
Roy Nelson defeated Javy Ayala via unanimous decision (30-26, 29-28, 29-28)
Quotes:
“The goal was just to go out there, get the win, and work my game a little bit. It felt good to throw some bombs for these fans in San Jose. I had to give Bellator some footage to use, especially since the UFC doesn’t license anything out,” Roy Nelson said. “It was a tough fight and Javy’s a talented fighter. Really, any heavyweight has power and if you connect the other person is definitely going to get knocked out and that is exactly what these fans come to see.”
“Overall I was pretty happy with my performance. I thought I was doing a good job with my stand up against him, but he’s really tough,” Javy Ayala said. “I just wasn’t able to stop the takedowns and his top control was at the elite level. But again I’m pretty pleased with my performance and I’m already looking forward to getting back into that cage for Bellator.”
Aaron Pico defeated Justin Linn via knockout at 3:45 of round one
Aaron Pico Quote: “First of all, hats off to Justin [Linn]. He’s a great competitor and I knew it was going to be a tough fight. It feels good fighting at 145-pounds. This is my natural weight and it felt great. I’m going to have to watch the replay of this fight because I’m not even sure how I hit him, it was just very instinctual. I always knew that I had very powerful hands and I’m not being cocky, I’m just confident because I spar with some of the best boxers in the world over at Team Bodyshop in Long Beach. The key to this fight was just relaxing because I knew that as long as I was relaxed in there, my skillset was going to show.”
Goiti Yamauchi defeated Adam Piccolotti via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:19 of round one
Quote from Goiti Yamauchi: “I’m ready to sign the contract for my next fight right now,” Yamauchi said. “I feel that I’m one fight away from a title shot, after another win like the one tonight, I don’t think there’s any way that Bellator can deny that I’m the number one contender.”
