“Detroit City Gold” marks the return of big-time boxing to the Detroit area, something promoter Dmitriy Salita is proud to be part of.
“I started the Detroit Brawl series of shows to get people excited about boxing again and they’ve responded very well,” Said Word. “So now we are bringing a huge event to this great city that was once and will be again a headquarters for boxing. The 21-year-old Shields cruised to a 77-1 amateur record before turning professional last November, winning her first bout via unanimous decision on a non-televised undercard in Las Vegas. She now returns home as a headliner to take on the veteran Szabados in a six-round middleweight bout.
Szabados challenged for a world title in July 2015 in her ninth professional fight, losing a decision to undefeated WBC Super Middleweight Champion Nikki Adler Germaniyada. The native of Miskolc, Hungary has faced two former world champions, Mikaela Lauren va Noni Tenge, and has won via knockout in three of her last five victories.
In her U.S. debyuti, Szabados lost a 10-round decision to then-undefeated prospect Alicia Napoleon yanvar kuni 29, 2016, in Queens, N.Y.. The 26-year-old has remained active since turning professional in 2014. She fought eight fights in 2016, and already has a win in 2017 via fifth round KO over Diana Marcz in January in Budapest, Vengriya.

Undefeated Light-Heavyweight Prospect Ahmed Elbiali Back In The Gym After Year-Long Layoff, Targets March Return

Mayami, FL (Fevral 9, 2017) – After fracturing his hand last year, unbeaten light heavyweight prospect, Ahmad Elbiali (14-0, 11 KOS), is back in the gym. Elbiali suffered the setback in his last bout against Andrew Hernandez, a fight that took place in January of 2016. The Miami based fighter is looking to come back in March, in a bout that most likely will be televised.
“The hand is one hundred percent healed and I’m ready to get back in the mix,” Said Ahmad Elbiali. “It’s been over a year since I’ve been back in the ring, but during the time off, I really focused on staying in shape. I didn’t let the layoff affect me in a way where I was going to be depressed. I worked on a lot of other aspects of my game that I feel I’ve improved on. Now it’s time to get back in there and march toward a world title.”
Elibial was on the fast track to the top of the light heavyweight division. He started off his career with nine straight knockouts. In his last two fights, both 8-round bouts, he’s went distance. That experience has helped him gain confidence in his ability to go deep in fights.
“When I first turned professional, I had a lot of early knockouts,” Elbiali davom. “It was nice getting my opponent out of there early but I didn’t know who my body would react if I had to go deep into fights. Shunday, the fact that I was able to go the full eight rounds in my last two fights, gives me confidence going into the next chapter of my career. Despite having the undefeated record, Pierce will be fighting in the hometown of Smith, but that doesn’t faze the 30 year-old Army vet.
“I have had 5 jang, and I have been the opponent in all of them. I know he will have the fans there, but that doesn’t bother. I am not fighting his fans.”
“I am not too concerned by not having the fan support. When I started fighting, I did that on my own, and this is no different. I spent a little time in Maryland, but I am from Texas. Because my promoter (Shohning Aktsiyalar) is located on the East Coast, I will be fighting on the East Coast a lot, so until I can build up a fan base, this is how it will be.”
“I go about my business. I just enjoy the sport and competing.”
Because of his mindset, Pierce just goes about his training, and with success the supporters will be behind him.
“I just plan on winning and the rest will take care of itself.”

Determined Super Flyweight Jose Alfredo ‘Torito’ Rodriguez Not Letting Shoulder Injury Derail his Goal of Winning Second World Championship

Former interim WBA Light Flyweight Champion Jose Alfredo “Torito” Rodriguez says he’s disappointed that a dislocated shoulder ended his recent world title challenge, but promises to be back as soon as his rehab is complete.

It was a disappointing result for Rodriguez, whose goal was to win his second world title for the people of Mazatlan, Sinaloa, where he lives.
“I worked so hard for this opportunity,” said a dissatisfied Rodriguez. “I had all the confidence and training I needed. But then his head collided with my shoulder accidentally in round two and I felt a pop. I knew at that moment my fight was over. After that I was fighting a skilled champion using only one arm.”
Rodriguez says he’s already hard at work on healing and re-strengthening the injured arm, with a goal of returning for another shot at a belt.
“I will not let this bad luck stop me from my goal to win another world championship. Biror narsa bo'lsa, this only makes me want it more. I will be back to fight whoever I have to, to get back to a world title fight and this time, god willing, win.”
Rodriguez’s manager, José A. Acevedo of Free Agent Boxing Management, says he’s proud of his fighter, no matter the outcome of his last fight.

“Jose fought for 15 minutes against one of the division’s best fighters with a dislocated shoulder. The pain he must have fought through is unimaginable. I admire his dedication and courage. World ranked Cruiserweight Kevin Lerena stops Meroro in 5

Lerena, who is ranked number-5 by the WBO,number-11 by the WBC, and number-13 by the WBA dropped Meroro in the 1st round and won each round until Meroro surprisingly quit in round five.

The win was Lerena’s 6th consecutive victory.
The stoppage came as a shock, which led promoter Rodney Berman to withhold Meroro’s purse.
“He quit, tekis va oddiy,” raged Berman, who insisted Meroro was in no imminent danger.
“We have an obligation to the public to produce good fights. The public pay good money, Emperors Palace pays good money and SuperSport pays good money. I can’t overlook that,” said Berman.

The minute I dropped him in the first round, he went into defensive mode,” said Lerena. “When a guy comes to fight, I show my true ability. It frustrates me when they don’t . . . Men kurash kabi.
