Former world champion Kermit Cintron looks to end 2016 with a bang when he battles Rosemberg Gomez for the WBF Welterweight title this Saturday from the Sands Bethlehem Event Center and LIVE on Ringtv.com

David Peralta takes on Berlin Abreu for WBC Latino Welterweight title and Ronald Ellis battles Oscar Riojas

Plus undefeated Chordale Booker and Abraham Nova

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bethlehem, PA (December 7, 2016) – This Saturday night, former two-time world welterweight champion Kermit Cintron will take on Rosembeg Gomez in an eight-round bout for the WBF title.
The bout will serve as the co-feature of a card promoted by GH3 Promotions, KIng’s Promotions and will streamed live on www.ringtv.com beginning at 9 PM ET.
In the 10-round main event, welterweight David Peralta (26-2-1, 14 KO’s) takes on Berlin Abreu (13-1, 11 KO’s) for the WBC Latino title.
“Everything went well in camp.  Everything is on scheduled, and I am on weight.  I sparred with Julian Williams and overall it was a good camp,” said Cintron.
In Gomez, he is facing a fighter who is on a two-fight win streak, yet lost his only appearance in the United States, which ironically took place in the same building as he dropped a decision to undefeated Alex Martin on February 9th.
“I don’t know much about him.  I saw one tape, and he seems like a bully and tries to take you out of your game.  He is nothing special, nothing that I haven’t seen before.  I am just going in there and do what I have worked on, and exploit his mistakes.”
This will be Cintron’s 4th fight in the last 7 months, and he is ready for a good performance, and move on to big opportunities in 2017.
“The game plan was to be built up again.  From what (King’s Promotions) Marshall Kauffman has said, 2017 will be a big year and I am looking forward to getting back to the top.”
With a plethora of talent atop the welterweight division, Cintron sees many opportunities for that breakthrough win.
“Whatever fight makes sense for me is who i will fight.  I will fight all of the top contenders.”
At 37 years-old, Cintron still feels youthful and has the same energy level he did when he was a welterweight champion a decade again.
“My trainer Joe Pastore has been putting me through the same workouts that I always have done when I was a world champion.  They are hard workouts and I don’t feel 37.  I don’t feel any changes in my body.  I feel good and fresh.”
“I am just excited to be back.  This Saturday I will finish the year strong.  I am looking to seeing my friends and family and finish the year with a bang!”

Ronald Ellis (12-0-1, 10 KO’s) of Lynn, MA takes on Oscar Riojas (10-6-1, 3 KO’s) of Monterrey, Mexico in a eight-round super middleweight bout.
In 6-round Bouts:
Erik Spring (8-1-1, 1 KO) of Reading, PA battles Grayson Blake (6-4, 2 KO) of State College, PA in a super welterweight bout.

Antowyan Aikens (10-2-1, 1 KO) of Atlantic City, NJ will take on Blake Mansfield (3-0-1, 2 KO’s) of Burlington, NC in a super middleweight bout.

Abraham Nova (3-0, 2 KO’s) of Braintree, MA will box Joshua Santos of San Juan, PR (2-1-1, 2 KOs) in a super featherweight bout.

Derric Rossy (30-12, 14 KO’s) of Medford, New York battles Richard Carmack (15-9-1, 12 KO’s) of Kansas City, Missouri in a heavyweight bout.

In 4-Round Bouts:

Chordale Booker (3-0, 2 KO’s) takes on Dawond Pickney in a super welterweight bout.

Pro debuting Jesus Perez of Reading, PA will square off with Antonio Allen (0-4) of Philadelphia in a super lightweight bout.
Doors open at 6 PM with the 1st fight at 6:30.
Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com for $100, $75 and $50.

IBF Heavyweight World Champion Anthony Joshua and American challenger Eric Molina worked out for the British press on Tuesday in Manchester, England, as they prepare to square off this Saturday at Manchester Arena live on SHOWTIME® (5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT).

The SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL® presentation originates from Galen Center at USC in Los Angeles, site of that evening’s SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast.  WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder will join host Brian Custer and analysts Al Bernstein and Paulie Malignaggi as part of the SHOWTIME announce team for Joshua vs. Molina.

Undefeated sensation and 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) will make the second defense of his title against Molina (25-3 19 KOs), a Texas native getting his second shot at a belt in his quest to become the first Mexican-American heavyweight world champion.

An encore presentation of Joshua vs. Molina will air as part of the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast later that evening, following the main event showdown between WBA Featherweight World Champion Jesus Cuellar and three-division former champ Abner Mares.  In the co-feature, Jermall Charlo will defend his IBF Junior Middleweight World Championship against fellow-undefeated challenger Julian Williams.

Here is what Joshua and Molina had to say during fight week:

ANTHONY JOSHUA

“Eric is coming here to win and he’s got a goal in his sights and dreams to fulfill.  I want to shatter his dreams and keep that title.  He gave Wilder a real test, rocked him, and boxed through the fight with an injury. So he’s got ability, power and heart.

“Eric has only lost to the best.  He’s looked at as an underdog because a lot of it is about hype.  This is his chance to announce himself.   He might say he can beat me, but we won’t know until the night if he can pull it off.

“This fight isn’t about Deontay Wilder.  Deontay is supposed to be this KO artist with one-punch power and he’s been a pro for eight years now so he’s got vast experience in the game.  Eric put up a great fight against him and watching it I thought ‘that’s the type of guy that I want to be in.’ Someone that fights with their heart on their sleeve, that’s why we’re here now.  It’ll be a comparison in the back of my mind but that doesn’t make me a better fighter than him or vice versa if I do better or worse than Deontay.

“A man that gets up after being knocked down has my full respect and he has shown he has massive heart. His mentality is that he’s got nothing to lose, and that makes him dangerous. There’s been upsets in the past but that’s not happening at this stage of my career.

“Molina is Wladimir Klitschko, he is David Haye, he is Wilder.  He is a hurdle I have to overcome. It’s not about them, it’s about me.  I won’t disrespect Eric, but I don’t play games, I come to dominate.   I don’t care how long the fight with Molina goes; one or 12 rounds, I just need to dismantle my opponent.

“I’m not fighting Klitschko.  He’s going to be there on Saturday, as is Haye, but they’re not in front of me.  My career, my discipline and my consistency, that’s the package that we’ve been sending out to the rivals and that speaks louder than any performance on Saturday.  I want to win, I want to look good and I want to entertain — but the most important thing for me is going in there and doing the job.

“I’m not learning in the shadows, I’m under the bright lights on Box Office in the UK and on SHOWTIME in the U.S. I have to perform every time that I box. There’s so many wolves in the pack that want to come and destroy what I’ve built.

“We’re close to getting some huge fights. If I get through Saturday then I fight Klitschko; it doesn’t get much bigger, so the division is moving forward.  People have just got to be patient and enjoy the ride.

“The U.S. is a big market for me and I am sure it won’t be long until I make my U.S. debut.  Whether that’s against Wilder, we’ll see.  He’s got the injury to recover from.  I have a lot of people asking me when we’re taking the show to the States, but I don’t think they mean Alabama!  They are hoping for Las Vegas, I think — that’s a trip we’d all love to make.”

ERIC MOLINA

“Knockout is the only way I am going to win.  I’m not here to take it on points, I am here to put him on the floor and take his belt.  Any heavyweight can KO any other heavyweight, and I can KO Joshua.  I’m a hard-punching heavyweight so I am extremely confident.

“I’m unpredictable – and any man in this division can be KO’d on any night.  To become champion, that’s the ultimate goal, and I think I have what it takes to knock him out.

“Joshua has great balance, he’s athletic, tall, uses his reach – but there are things about him we don’t know yet and he knows it, too.  We know he can punch and has the attributes to become a legend, but that missing piece of the puzzle is the chin.  Can he take a punch?  He hasn’t taken anything up to this date.  A good boxing puncher can KO you with a shot at any given moment.

“I don’t question his stamina, but I do want to see him take a good shot.  It’s the big question – and I’ve hurt everybody that I’ve been in the ring with.  Does he have grit and determination? We’ll find out.

“I’ve been an underdog all my life so it doesn’t faze me. Joshua is young, he’s strong, he’s got all the attributes of a great champion.  But there are a lot of things that he’s yet to experience in the ring, and that’s what I have to capitalize on.  Eventually he has to go through those things and get taken to those places that he hasn’t been yet.  I have to take him there to win.

“Who else in the last 18 months is going to fight Joshua and Wilder?  Who is willing to do that to win? No one wants to get in with this guy.  This is my route to get the world title. It’s not about Klitschko, it’s about me.  Any man can be destroyed on any given night.  Joshua knows that’s true.  He’s got to beat me to get the fight, but I have a great chance to KO this guy.

“I don’t pay too much notice to what people think. When I fought Wilder the whole world gave me one round — that’s it.  He’s going down in one round, he’s going to get blasted away.  I’ve heard it all before, all the negative feedback.  Let people think what they want, I feed off it. I have nothing to lose in a fight like this and everything to gain.  It’s a very dangerous fight and the type of fight that I really perform in.

“Dillian Whyte has given Joshua his toughest test so far, then probably (Dominic) Breazeale.  He hasn’t been pushed.  He hasn’t been taken to a place where he’s had to dig deep.  There are some holes in his game that we feel we can execute and hurt him.

“Lots of people didn’t want the fight; it’s a business and I wanted it. I’ve shared the ring with Wilder and now I’m going in with Joshua.  These aren’t just words; I’m putting it into action, there’s a difference.

“Wilder is the most dangerous heavyweight in the world, Tyson Fury is the most skilled, the combination of both would beat Johsua.  The most feared is Luis Ortiz.  You have the heavyweights that no one wants to get in with.  Everyone is calling everyone out, but when it comes down to it, it means nothing if you don’t get in there.  You just have a certain bunch of guys that don’t want to fight another bunch of guys.

“Against Wilder I learned that I can get up.  I can fight back and still win rounds. I learned I can fight through an injury; that I can bite down on the gumshield and give more than I ever thought I could give.  It was a big stage against Wilder in his backyard so I’ve been on the big stage before. It doesn’t concern me at all – been there, done that.  I’ve lost on the big stage but I’ve also won on the big stage.”

TOP PROSPECT ED RUTH JOINS THIS FRIDAY’S ‘BELLATOR 168’ CARD IN FLORENCE FOR HIS SECOND FIGHT IN AS MANY MONTHS

SANTA MONICA, CALIF (Dec. 6, 2016) – It was announced today that one of MMA’s hottest prospects, Ed Ruth (1-0), will waste no time continuing to build his resume, as he fights Emanuele Palombi (5-2) for his second fight in as many months. The bout takes place this Friday at “Bellator 168: Sakara vs. Beltran,” on Dec. 10 from the Mandela Forum in Florence and will air LIVE and FREE on SPIKE at 4pm ET/PT.

At only 26 years old, Ruth is looking to pave the way for the other members of “The New Breed,” a group of highly accomplished wrestlers who have all signed to fight under the Bellator MMA banner including: Joey Davis (1-0), Tyrell Fortune (1-0), Jarod Trice (1-0) as well as Aaron Pico and Romero Cotton – the last of which have yet to make their highly anticipated professional debuts. Before he was a three-time National Champion and four-time All-American wrestler at Penn State University, Ruth attended the world-renown Blair Academy in Susquehanna Township, PA, where he was the top-ranked recruit in the nation for his weight class. Having achieved great success at every stage of competition throughout his life, Ruth aspires to have the Bellator middleweight gold around his waist before long. After making the move across the country to Fresno, Calif., where he now trains at Dethrone Basecamp with other Bellator MMA fighters like Josh Koscheck and Chris Honeycutt, Ruth made his professional MMA debut just last month on Nov. 4, when he finished Dustin Collins-Miles with strikes at 3:19 into the first round.

Ruth now faces Rome’s Palombi, a seven-fight veteran with five victories including three KO’s and one submission.  Ruth, who is taking the fight on less than a week’s notice, must quickly learn how to tune out a hometown crowd, who will certainly be heavily in favor of the Italian fighter.

The evening is highlighted by a main event featuring Italy’s most renowned mixed martial artist Alessio Sakara (18-11, 2 NC), who will duke it out with Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran (17-13, 1 NC) in a light heavyweight main event. Other Bellator MMA competitors will also be in action, including John Salter (12-3), Goiti Yamauchi (31-9) and Philipe Lins(10-1).

The Bellator Kickboxing brand will also be on display in Italy with a card that features a female flyweight rematch between Denise Kielholtz (45-3) and Gloria Peritore (11-1-1), but this time, a world title will be on the line. “Bellator Kickboxing: Florence” will also include a lightweight clash between Giorgio Petrosyan (82-2-2, 1 NC) and British kickboxing champion Jordan Watson (48-11-2), a middleweight matchup pitting Joe Schilling (19-9) against Victorio Lermano (30-7), a welterweight contest pairing Luca Novello (22-4-2) with Karim Ghajji (96-13-1), and Kevin Ross(31-9) will meet Alessio Arduini (26-14-2) in a lightweight fight. “Bellator Kickboxing: Florence” airs Friday, Dec. 16 at 11:15 pm ET, immediately following “Bellator 169: King Mo vs. Ishii.”

Ringstar Sports Continues to Grow by Adding 2016 Mexican Olympian & Bronze Medalist Misael Rodriguez to  Growing Stable of Fighters

LOS ANGELES (December 7, 2016) – The recently formed promotional company, Ringstar Sports, added another future world champion to its growing stable of fighters today with the announcement that 2016 Mexican Olympian and Bronze medalist Misael Rodriguez has signed with the company led by longtime boxing executive Richard Schaefer.
“I’m thrilled to be adding another promising young potential super star in Misael Rodriguez to the Ringstar lineup,” said Richard Schaefer, Chairman and CEO of Ringstar Sports. “This is a young man who has overcome every obstacle thrown his way. He is mentally strong, has great skills and I expect him to have a very long, successful career. I’m looking forward to helping Misael and his family achieve their goals and I hope to make him a household name in the sport.”
“After I came back from the Olympics, I knew that it was time to start my professional career,” said Rodriguez. “I am excited to have signed with Ringstar Sports.  I have always appreciated Richard Schaefer’s approach on developing talent in to boxing stars.  When the time came, picking my promoter was easy. I knew that this is where I wanted to be.
“I look forward to showing the world the passion and heart I have for the sport I love,” continued Rodriguez. “Becoming a world champion has always been a childhood dream, and now it is my number one goal.”
The 22-year-old Rodriguez was the only Mexican fighter at the Olympics to bring home a medal as he earned his bronze by putting on a great performance in the middleweight division against Egypt’s Hosam Bakr Abdin. The path for Rodriguez was a long and arduous one before Rio as the Chihuahua-native and his teammates had to resort to “begging” on public buses and streets in Mexico to raise money to compete in international boxing tournaments.
Despite these long odds, Rodriguez won the first Olympic boxing medal for Mexico since Christian Bejerano in 2000. His impressive amateur career saw him win 104 of 126 fights and compete in numerous tournaments after joining the Mexican National Team in 2013, including a Senior National Championship.
Rodriguez picked up bronze medals in 2014 at La Romana Cup, the Independence Cup and the Panamerican Sports Festival in addition to a silver at the Veracruz Central American and Caribbean games. He continued to improve and won bronze at the American Confederation Championship and Toronto Panamerican Games in 2015. Finally, in 2016 he earned a silver medal at the American Olympic Qualifier before going to Rio and taking home the bronze medal.

HEAVYWEIGHTS PREPARE FOR WAR AT NEF 27

Lewiston, Maine (December 7, 2016) –New England Fights (NEF) returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on February 11, 2017 with its next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 27: RESURGENCE.”  Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional contest to the card.  Ras “Rasquatch” Hylton (0-0) will make his professional debut against Mike “The Mustache” Hansen (5-4) in the heavyweight division.

Hylton’s now-legendary rise through the ranks of the amateur heavyweight division in NEF is one of the major stories of 2016.  At 6’6″ and towering over the top of the MMA cage, Hylton cuts an imposing figure.  The only thing more impressive than Hylton’s size and appearance might be his athletic abilities.  A prolific striker, Hylton finished all three of his opponents this year by either knockout or technical knockout.

“Rasquatch,” or as some fans call him “The Jamaican Shamrock,” really began to raise eyebrows with a highlight-reel head kick knockout of Matt Glover (1-1) last spring.  Then, last month at “NEF 26,” Hylton pounded an extremely tough Kevin Smith (3-3) to a bloody pulp.  It was immediately after that dominant performance that Hylton’s coaches at First Class MMA and Dragon Fire Martial Arts felt the time was right for him to make the jump to the pro ranks.

“I am so grateful to be fighting a man of Mike Hansen’s stature in front of my family and friends,” said Hylton.  “As the first professional fighter to come out of both Dragon Fire Martial Arts and First Class MMA, and with the instruction of Shihan Andy Campbell, John “First Class” Raio and my team, we are preparing for me to go to war because that is what Mike always brings to the cage.”

A former Maine state heavyweight wrestling champion out of Mountain Valley High School, Mike Hansen has never shied away from taking a fight with someone bigger than him.  In fact, Hansen, who also competes in the light-heavyweight and middleweight divisions, has gained a reputation as somewhat of a “giant killer.”

Earlier this year, Hansen submitted a substantially bigger Jesse Baughman (0-2) in the first round at “NEF 22.”  He followed up that impressive performance by nearly knocking out a much larger Brendan Battles (1-1) with a right hand at “NEF 23.”  This fall Hansen gave up nearly half a foot to Matt Andrikut (2-1) and submitted his bigger opponent in the first round.  Indeed, Hylton’s size advantage will play little role in the outcome of this fight should Hansen have anything to say about it.

“I’m super excited for this fight,” exclaimed Hansen.  “I like being part of these ‘super fights.’  I know Ras has a great camp behind him and he will come 100% prepared. I’ll expect nothing less from Raio, but I feel my experience and composure in the cage will be my best asset and that’s not something that he can train up on in 10 weeks. February 11th we will go to war, so expect just that.”

NEF’s next event, “NEF 27: RESURGENCE” takes place on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 7 p.m.  Tickets start at $25 and are on sale now at www.TheColisee.com or by calling the Colisee box office at 207.783.2009, extension 525.

Lipinets and Zappavigna will fight in an eliminator for the 140-pound world title won this past weekend by Julius Indongo via a first round knockout of reigning champion Eduard Troyanovsky. Here is what Lipinets had to say about training camp with Buddy McGirt, his matchup on Saturday and more:

On his upcoming title elimination bout against Lenny Zappavigna…
“Zappavigna is a very well-rounded fighter with a lot of experience and I know he’s coming to rip my head off.  There is no doubt about it, this fight is going to be tough.  We both have a lot at stake because this is a title elimination bout. This will be war and everyone should be tuning in.”

On his recent training camp…
“It’s been a really productive training camp. My coach, Buddy McGirt has studied a lot of tape on Zappavigna and we have a great game plan intact.  We are finalizing our last days of camp and we will be ready to go.  I’m well prepared for this fight.”

On his rapid rise toward the top of the junior welterweight division…
“I’ve worked really hard and fought a lot of tough opponents to get in this position.  In my first fight as a professional boxer, I fought a guy with over 30 fights, so nothing has come easy for me.  I’ve earned my right to be here.”

On the possible opportunities that will come with a victory…
“A victory against Zappavigna will put me in position to fight for a world title.  The opportunities are endless from then on.  Unification bouts, fighting all the champions, those are the type of fights I’m looking forward too.  My desire to be the best is all I think about.”

On fighting December 10th in Los Angeles in front of hometown fans…
“Since I’ve moved to America I’ve made a lot of friends in Los Angeles, especially in the Russian community.  Anytime your hometown fans can see you fight on a mass scale is a beautiful thing.  I have a lot of friends and fans that will be in attendance.  I believe my fighting style is pleasing to the eyes of all fans.  I’m always looking to knock out my opponent.  I know one thing…the Mexican fans will love watching me go to battle.  It’s time to take my career to the next level and it starts on Saturday, December 10 in Los Angeles.”
