“The Homecoming” to be headlined by phenom Marco “El Tiburón” Romero on Sept. 6 in Olathe, Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Mai. (Iulie 29, 2025) - Nineteen-year-old boxing phenom Marco “El Tiburón” Romero (9-0, 8 KO) will make his hometown debut as a professional on September 6, headlining “The Homecoming” Pro-Am card, presented by Turner Boxing Academy, at Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Olathe, Kansas.“The Homecoming” is a fundraiser for the Turner Boxing Academy, owned and operated by boxing legend John Brown, in Kansas City, Kansas. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Safe Kids Johnson County. “This will be a special event celebrating the 20lea anniversary of the Turner Boxing Academy,” explained Turner, who is Romero’s manager/head trainer. It’s a tough homecoming fight for Marco.”

The primary sponsor of this event is McCarthy Auto Group. “I’m elated to support the Turner Boxing Academy’s 20th anniversary event,” McCarthy Auto Group founder and owner John McCarthy comentat. “This is clearly a reputable organization and non-profit. I’ve been impressed with Marco Romero and recognize how pivotal early support can be in shaping a career.”
Romero was a 23-time national amateur champion, highlighted by gold medal performances in the 2024 USA National Championships and National Golden Gloves Tournament, for which he was selected as the “Golden Boy” Award winner as the Most Outstanding Boxer.

He is matched against Javier Dario Aragon (7-1-1, 3 KO), fighting out of Denver by way of Mexico, in the 8-round main event.

“Fighting at home means so much to me,” Romero said about fighting in Olathe. “It’s giving me that extra motivation and drive to work hard every single day in the gym. I’m ready to give my people from KC and Olathe a show.”
Romero, currently a promotional free agent, has needed only 17 rounds in his 9 crize profesionale, registering 8 opriri, including his last six fights in a row. He is set to compete as a middleweight for the first time after previously fighting at super middleweight, his sixth fight in 2025.

“Going down to middleweight has always been the plan,” Romero noted. “My dream is to be a multi-world champion in different weight classes. I’m excited to see how I feel going to middleweight and see how I feel after this fight. Our plan is to go even lower in weight to super welterweight.

“I’m ready and excited to fight 8-rounds. Our opposition will be tougher – we know that – so we are preparing for a hard fought 8-rounder or finish it earlier Either way we are coming Shark Style!"

Proud of his Mexican American heritage, Marco’s boxing idols are Saul „Canelo” Alvarez, Julio Cesar Chavez și, desigur, his namesake, Marco Antonio Barrera. Romero’s ultimate goal is to bring world championship boxing back to Kansas, in order to give back to his community and inspire other young and upcoming boxers from Kansas City, not necessarily just in boxing, but any sport. “Zahăr” Shane Mosley, is a globally respected boxing icon and Hall of Famer. He competed from 1993 pentru 2016. LOS ANGELES (Iulie 2, 2025) -- It’s “Scrappy Time” again!

For the first time in 2025, charismatic super flyweight contenderJohn “Scrappy” Ramirez (15-1, 9 KO) returned to the ring on last Saturday’s DAZN Pay-Per-View event, presented by MVP Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions, and headlined by YouTuber turned boxerJake “The Problem Child” Paul(12-1, 7 KO) împotrivaJulio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (54-7-1, 34 KO) at Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

“I trusted the process,” Ramirez explained. “It was emotional when my original opponent pulled out of the fight so late and I didn’t know if I’d be fighting. I’m happy I got the fight, even if I had to open the show, because I’ve learned to embrace the opportunity. I trained to fight a 5’ 2”, righty and fought a southpaw. I was comfortable, regardless, because I prepare at camp for anything that may happen. I wanted the fight and gave him (Morales) two passes on weight. He was coming in heavy; așa, we agreed to fight at a 120-pound catchweight. Before he stepped on the scale, he said he weighed 121.6. I didn’t want him to be fined for coming in overweight because he was doing me a favor by taking the fight. I respect him for taking the fight on late notice and we changed the contract to 121.6. Nothing changed for me other than the opponent and opening the preliminaries. Time is money, and I wanted everything I had done to count like camp (expenses), resources I used, mileage on my body. Everything happens for a reason. There are six months left in 2025, and my goal is to have two more fights.”

HALL OF FAMER “THE GOLDEN BOY” OSCAR DE LA HOYATO ATTEND 2024 HALL OF FAME WEEKEND Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary Celebration set for June 6 – 9
CANASTOTA, NY – MARCH 18, 2024 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum, which is celebrating its 35th Anniversary in 2024, is pleased to announce that Hall of Famer “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya will attend the Banquet of Champions and other events planned for planned for the 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 6-9.
“From Olympic gold to world titles in six divisions, Oscar De La Hoya captured the imagination of boxing fans around the world,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We are very much looking forward to welcoming ‘The Golden Boy’ back to Canastota for the Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary celebration.”

De La Hoya capped a 223-5 (153 KO) amateur career by capturing lightweight gold at the 1992 Jocuri olimpice. He turned pro the same year and captured his first world title – the WBO super featherweight – in only his 12th pro bout and would go on to win 10 world titles in six weight divisions.

Among the champions he defeated include Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Genaro Hernandez, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga and Hall of Famers Hector Camacho, Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker and Arturo Gatti.

One of the biggest pay per view attractions in boxing history. De La Hoya retired in 2008 with a pro record of 39-6 (30 KO). În 2002 he established promotional powerhouse Golden Boy Promotions. În 2014 “The Golden Boy” was elected into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

An impressive list of over 35 boxing greats from the United States and abroad, including the Class of 2024, returning Hall of Famers and special guests will participate in the Hall of Fame Weekend celebration.

The Class of 2024 to be honored includes boxers Ricky Hatton, Ivan Calderon, Diego Corrales (posthumous), Michael Moorer, Jane Couch, Ana Maria Torres, Luis Angel Firpo (posthumous), Theresa Kibby (posthumous), antrenor Kenny Adams, manager Jackie Kallen, publicist Fred Sternburg, journalist Wallace Matthews and broadcaster Nick Charles (posthumous).
The Class of 2024 will be honored during the Hall of Fame Induction Weekend on June 6-9, 2024, in “Boxing’s Hometown.” Many events will take place in Canastota and nearby Turning Stone Resort Casino throughout the four-day celebration including ringside talks, fist casting, fight night, 5K race / fun run, boxing autograph card show, banquet, parade and induction ceremony.

“Zurdo” fighting for his legacy, 41-0 Gilberto Ramirez on mission to join elusive 50-0 club

LAS VEGAS (Mai 19, 2021) – Only five boxers have started their professional careers with a 50-fight win streak and the contemporary leader, 41-0 Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez is on a mission to join the exclusive club, continuing July 9lea in Los Angeles againstSullivan Barrera (22-3, 14 KO). 

Ramirez, who recently signed an exclusive promotional contract withOscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, was the first Mexican-born super middleweight World champion, and he is currently the No. 3 rated light heavyweight in the world, de Asociația Mondială de box (WBA) și Organizația Mondială a box (WBO). 

Although he won’t turn 30 until June 19, Ramirez has been fighting professionally for nearly 12 an, and one of his goals is to become a World champion in two different weight classes.     Another Mexican boxer is in the 50-0 Club, Nu Face. 4 Carlos Zarate, who reached 52 straight victories off his pro debut, 51 de knock-out, in the 1970’s. Zarate was stopped in his 53rd fight by Puerto Rican starWilfredo Gomez in the fifth round of their 1978 WBC super bantamweight World championship match.

About Roy Jones Jr.
Roy Jones Jr. is an American professional boxer who has captured numerous championships in the Middleweight, Super Mijlocie, Light heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions. He is the only boxer in history to start his career as a junior middleweight, and go on to win a heavyweight title. He is also noted for holding the WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, NABF, WBF, and IBA light heavyweight championships; a record seven belts at the same time. Jones left his mark in boxing history when he won the WBA heavyweight title, becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a Heavyweight title in 106 an. As of February 2018, Jones holds the record for the most wins in unified light heavyweight title bouts in boxing history, at twelve. Colorado Springs, Poală. (Noiembrie 19, 2018) – Tarziu Emanuel Steward, fără îndoială, cel mai mare formator de box din toate timpurile, este un membru al clasei de 2018 obtinerea introdus în asociere Hall SUA box Alumni of Fame.

NEW YORK (Martie 26, 2018) – Salvatori de box Bob Goodman și tatăl său, târziu Murray Goodman, sunt printre 23 membri ai clasei de 2018 fiind introdus în sala de faimă a boxului de stat din New York (NYSBHOF) pe Duminică după amiază (12:30-5:30 p.m. ȘI), Aprilie 29.

Un legendar publicist de box, Murray Goodman (Bronx) și-a adus fiul în știința dulce când Bob avea doar opt ani. Restul a fost istoric pentru Goodman, care sunt amândoi angajați în mai multe săli de renume, inclusiv Sala internațională a renumelui de box.

Uncasville, Conn. A graduate of Brown University, the now 80-year-old Sammartino has enjoyed two other careers as an oral surgeon and investment advisor at Blue Fin in Providence, in addition to his role as an international boxing judge since 1985.
“I first got into boxing because Joey Angelo married my cousin,” Sammartino explained. “He fought back in the early forties. Joey fought Willie Pep twice and Sandy Saddler. That’s what got me started. We used to have the great Luni Night Fights at Rhode Island Auditorium and I remember watching Rocky Marciano fight “Tigru” Ted Lowry there.”
Because he was a successful oral surgeon, Clark could take long weekends to judge fights all over the world. His first and most memorable world title fight was Vinny Paz-Greg Haughn I. Through his long career, Sammartino judged more than 400 lupte pro, inclusiv 50 major world title fights.

Sammartino, who proudly says he never missed a day of work in 40 an, has decided to retire, although he’ll remain a boxing fans for the rest of his life. “I started slowing down at my age, doing local shows and maybe three or four world title fights a year, mostly WBO and IBF,” Sammartino remarked. “I had a tough bout with pneumonia the past 5-6 months and that made working difficult.”
His CBHOF induction is a fitting ending and tremendous tribute to Sammartino and his career in boxing. “I’m humbled to be inducted into the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame,” el a spus. “This is a great way to end my career.”
