HALL OF FAMER “THE GOLDEN BOY” OSCAR DE LA HOYATO ATTEND 2024 HALL OF FAME WEEKEND Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary Celebration set for June 6 – 9
CANASTOTA, NY – MARCH 18, 2024 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum, which is celebrating its 35th Anniversary in 2024, is pleased to announce that Hall of Famer “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya will attend the Banquet of Champions and other events planned for planned for the 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 6-9.
“From Olympic gold to world titles in six divisions, Oscar De La Hoya captured the imagination of boxing fans around the world,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We are very much looking forward to welcoming ‘The Golden Boy’ back to Canastota for the Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary celebration.”

De La Hoya capped a 223-5 (153 KO) amateur career by capturing lightweight gold at the 1992 Jocuri olimpice. He turned pro the same year and captured his first world title – the WBO super featherweight – in only his 12th pro bout and would go on to win 10 world titles in six weight divisions.

Among the champions he defeated include Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Genaro Hernandez, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga and Hall of Famers Hector Camacho, Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker and Arturo Gatti.

One of the biggest pay per view attractions in boxing history. De La Hoya retired in 2008 with a pro record of 39-6 (30 KO). În 2002 he established promotional powerhouse Golden Boy Promotions. În 2014 “The Golden Boy” was elected into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

An impressive list of over 35 boxing greats from the United States and abroad, including the Class of 2024, returning Hall of Famers and special guests will participate in the Hall of Fame Weekend celebration.

The Class of 2024 to be honored includes boxers Ricky Hatton, Ivan Calderon, Diego Corrales (posthumous), Michael Moorer, Jane Couch, Ana Maria Torres, Luis Angel Firpo (posthumous), Theresa Kibby (posthumous), antrenor Kenny Adams, manager Jackie Kallen, publicist Fred Sternburg, journalist Wallace Matthews and broadcaster Nick Charles (posthumous).
The Class of 2024 will be honored during the Hall of Fame Induction Weekend on June 6-9, 2024, in “Boxing’s Hometown.” Many events will take place in Canastota and nearby Turning Stone Resort Casino throughout the four-day celebration including ringside talks, fist casting, fight night, 5K race / fun run, boxing autograph card show, banquet, parade and induction ceremony.

“I first got into boxing because Joey Angelo married my cousin,” Sammartino explained. “He fought back in the early forties. Joey fought Willie Pep twice and Sandy Saddler. That’s what got me started. We used to have the great Luni Night Fights at Rhode Island Auditorium and I remember watching Rocky Marciano fight “Tigru” Ted Lowry there.”
Because he was a successful oral surgeon, Clark could take long weekends to judge fights all over the world. His first and most memorable world title fight was Vinny Paz-Greg Haughn I. Through his long career, Sammartino judged more than 400 lupte pro, inclusiv 50 major world title fights.
The list of boxers whose fights Sammartino judged reads like a Who’s Who of Boxing during the past 32 an: Mike Tyson, Oscar de la Hoya, Evander Holyfield, Julio Cesar Chavez, Johnny Tapia, Naseem Hamed, Chris Eubank, Marco Antonio Barrera, Mark Johnson, Wayne McCullough, Wladimir Klitschko, Gennady Golovkin, Anthony Joshua, Sergey Kovalev, Bernard Hopkins, Juan Manuel Lopez, Nonito Donaire, Acelino Freitas, Ivan Calderon, Felix Trinidad, Tommy Morrison and many more.
Sammartino, who proudly says he never missed a day of work in 40 an, has decided to retire, although he’ll remain a boxing fans for the rest of his life. “I started slowing down at my age, doing local shows and maybe three or four world title fights a year, mostly WBO and IBF,” Sammartino remarked. “I had a tough bout with pneumonia the past 5-6 months and that made working difficult.”
His CBHOF induction is a fitting ending and tremendous tribute to Sammartino and his career in boxing. “I’m humbled to be inducted into the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame,” el a spus. “This is a great way to end my career.”

Team Dulorme is heading to Texas

Today at the Luis Munoz Marin Airport in Carolina, Puerto Rico, Puerto Rican world title contender, Thomas Dulorme ( 22-1, 14 KO ) alongside with his team, are heading to Arlington, Texas for the biggest fight of Dulorme’s career schedule for this Sâmbătă, Aprilie 18 against Terence Crawford ( 25-0, 17 KO ) of Nebraska, for the vacant WBO World super lightweight title.
The fight will air live on HBO as part of its series ‘HBO Boxing After Dark’, which starts from 9:45 pm (EST) la College Park Center, located in University of Texas at Arlington.
“I’m just two pounds over the weight limit. It is a matter of reaching Texas and continue the work plan for the fight,” said Thomas Dulorme who continued, “I will not let my people of Puerto Rico and the Latinos down”.

Formatorul legendar, Felix Pagan Pintor, a fost confirmat să se alăture grupului de formatori Rico Puerto de elita, care va fi de sprijin Thomas Dulorme ( 22-1, 14 Lui KO ) în colțul lui. Pe Sâmbătă, 18 aprilie, Dulorme va fi cea mai mare provocare cu care se confruntă de tineri carierei sale ca el se confruntă cu “2014 Boxer a anului” și campion mondial ușoare Terence Crawford ( 25-0,17 Lui KO ) într-o luptă Campionatul Mondial programat pentru 12 runde de vacant WBO Lume Junior semimijlocie din titlu. Lupta va avea loc la College Park Center situat în campusul de la Universitatea din Texas, Arlington. Lupta va fi difuzat în direct pe "HBO Boxing After Dark", începând de la 9:45 p.m. ȘI/PT.

Felix Pagan Pintor are peste 40 ani de experiență box. În 1977 el a avut său pro-debut ca un luptător în timp ce, în același timp, fiind un antrenor. El a lucrat peste 60 crize Campionatul Mondial cu luptători legendari, cum ar fi Wilfredo Gomez, Hector "Macho’ Camacho, Ivan Calderon, Paul Williams, Carlos Santos, printre altele.

Crawford a fost recunoscut ca "2014 boxerul a anului", un premiu acordat de Asociația Scriitorilor de box of America ( BWAA ) pentru victoriile sale a luat act de peste Ricky Burns, de la care a luat titlul mondial WBO. Apoi El a apărat cu succes titlul de două ori împotriva Yuriorkis Gamboa și Ray Beltrán.

Pe de altă parte Dulorme este proaspăt pe o victorie împotriva pretendent lume Hank Lundy și înainte de asta, Dulorme încheiat înregistrare neînvinsă Karim Mayfield într-un meci care a castigat prin decizie unanimă.

Dulorme este în prezent pe locul #2 de Asociația Mondială de box ( WBA ), #3 de Consiliul Mondial de box (WBC ) și Federația Internațională de Box ( IBF ), în timp ce #5 de Organizația Mondială a box ( WBO )
