Sochi, Rusland (Maj 21, 2017) – Two-time M-1 Challenge Light Heavyweight Champion Viktor Nemkov has positioned himself for another title shot, defeating Brazilian challenger Ronny markes, last Friday night in the M-1 Challenger 77 main event at Sochi, Rusland.
Eleven exciting fights were held with athletes representing 10 different countries in true International competition: Rusland, Brasilien, U.S.A, Spanien, Portugal, Tyskland, Hviderusland, Ukraine, Georgien, and Azerbajjan.

A native of Kazakhstan fighting out of Russia, Nemkov (24-6-0, M-1: 17-5-0) has once again fought his way back to the top of the M-1 light heavyweight class. I 2013, Nemkov defeated Vasily Babich (11-8-0), ved hjælp af en anden runde indgivelse (arm-lock), på M-1 Challenge 66, for the vacant M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title.
Nemkov lost his first title defense by a five-round split decision to German Stephen Puetz, who Nemkov gained revenge from four fights later, taking a five-round majority decision in the M-1 Challenge 63 Fight of the Night to regain the coveted M-1 crown.
In his first title defense of his second reign, Nemkov lost his title via a five-round split decision to Rashid Yusupov (8-0), a year ago at M-1 Challenge 68. The resilient Nemkov will position himself for yet another title shot with an impressive victory against Markes.
Markes (16-4-0, M-1: 0-0-0), Brasilien, will be making his M-1 Global debut against Nemkov. In his last fight this past February, Markes choked out 15-4-0 Tony lopez in the opening round of their King of the Cage super heavyweight championship match. Markes is a UFC and World Series of Fighting veteran
Den M-1 Challenge 77 main card is stacked with entertaining, evenly-matched fights, including a potentially explosive throw-down between undefeated Russian middleweight prospect Artiom Frolov (8-0-0, M-1: 5-0-0) and always dangerous Talekh “Den Aserbajdsjan Terminator” Nadzhafzade (5-1-1 (M-1: 2-0-1).

New M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion Rashid Yusopov
ORENBURG CITY, Rusland (Maj 28, 2016) – Last night’s M-1 Challenge 66 event had its share of upsets, leading with a main event split decision victory by Rashid Yusopov over defending M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion Viktor Nemkov, in Orenburg City, Rusland.
Tidligere M-1 Challenge lys sværvægter mester Stephan “T-800” Puetz took a unanimous 3-round decision from Andrey Seledtsov i co-feature.
Russian challenger Yusopov (7-2-0, M-1: 4-1-0) won a hard fought 5-round split decision over defending champion Nemkov (23-6-0, M-1: 14-5-0), fighting out of Russia by way of Kazakhstan, who was making his initial title defense.
Nemkov had captured the coveted M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title this past December, taking a 5-round decision from defending champion Puetz, who had won a 5-round split decision April, 2014 against Nemkov for the title. Nemkov is a two-time M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion having defeated Vasily Babich (WSUB3 – arm-lock) for the vacant title that he then lost in his first title defense to Puetz.
The 23-year-old Yusupov was riding a 4-fight win streak going into his fight with Nemkov. A former Russian, European and World Amateur MMA champion, Yusupov is known as a dangerous striker whose signature moves are powerful kicks.
Puetz vs. Seledtsov was billed asTerminator” vs. “Spetsnevand it lived up to its name as Puetz won a unanimous 3-round decision. Puetz, Tyskland, had successfully defended his M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title twice, after beating Nemkov in their original championship match, mod Luis Fernando Miranda (SUB2 – choker) August 15, 2014 påM-1 Challenge 50, og Valery Myasnikov (KO/TKO2 – punches) December 17, 2014 påM-1 Challenge 54. The 23-year-old Yusupov (6-2-0, M-1: 3-1-0), fighting out of Sochi, Rusland, has won four fights in a row to put himself into title contention. A former Russian, European and World Amateur MMA champion, unlike many of his fellow countrymen from the North Caucasus, Yusupov (pictured below) is a dangerous striker whose signature moves are powerful kicks. He is also a top-notch wrestler, evident by his M-1 Challenge victories against Charles Andrade og Martin Zawada.
