BELFAST (Août 18, 2018) – Former two-division world champion Carl Frampton knocked out Luke Jackson to retain his interim featherweight title Saturday at Windsor Park in Belfast in a doubleheader that streamed live on SHOWTIME Sports social platforms.

 

 

 

In the opening bout of SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL, lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury shut out Francesco Pianeta to line up a 2018 showdown with WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder.

 

 

 

An encore presentation will air in primetime tonight at 10 p.m. ET / PT sur Showtime EXTREME®.

 

 

 

Frampton (26-1, 15 KOs) turned in an impressive performance and scored his first knockout as a featherweight in what was a “dream” homecoming fight at the home of Northern Irish football. The former 126 and 122-pound champion now has his sights set at becoming a champion yet again in one of boxing’s deepest divisions.

 

 

 

After a dominant seven rounds, Frampton scored a knockdown via a body shot with 30 secondes à jouer dans la huitième. Jackson (16-1, 7 KOs) survived the eighth but was clearly hurt. “I think it was a calculated boxing performance, comme promis,” said Fury, who was fighting for just the second time in nearly three years. “We were able to get 10 good rounds in with a tough man. I was working on my boxing, trying to slip and slide, use the jab and get the rounds in. I was very happy with the performance.

 

 

 

“It’s no secret I need the rounds. I need to prove that I can go 10 rounds and have plenty left in the tank, and I did that tonight.”

The former IBF, WBA and WBO champion Fury (26-0, 19 KOs) returned to the ring in June and will fight for the second time in less than 75 days following a nearly three-year layoff. Prior to his extended hiatus, the 6-foot-9 Fury established himself as the premier heavyweight boxer in the world by becoming the first man to defeat Wladimir Klitschko in more than 11 ans.

 

 

 

planète (35-4-1, 21 KOs), a 6-foot-5 southpaw who fights out of Germany, has twice challenged for the heavyweight world title. Pianeta faced then-unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2013 and lost in a bid for a secondary title against Ruslan Chagaev in 2015.

“Southpaws are a lot more awkward because there’s less of them in the division. You don’t get too much work with southpaws other than when you’re fighting with them. It’s hard to get southpaws to spar in training because there aren’t many heavyweight southpaws around the world. But I do have one interesting fact, every southpaw amateur or professional I’ve ever faced I’ve knocked out. That’s not good for Francesco.

 

 

 

“To be a two-time heavyweight champion is all right. It’s not great because there’s been plenty. To be a three-time heavyweight champion, it’s been done before. So I think I want to set a precedent of being a five-time heavyweight champion without losing a fight. That’s my goal. I always aim for the stars and set big targets.

 

 

 

“If I can beat Francesco Pianeta on Saturday night, I’ve beaten another boxer. Big deal. But if he beats me, he’s going on to something very big. It would be life-changing for him. It I can’t beat Francesco, then I’m going nowhere.

 

 

 

“I think I’m the greatest heavyweight that’s ever been born, so I should handle Francesco Pianeta. And whoever else is out there, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, all the bums out there.

 

 

 

“It’s very easy to win all the belts back. I’ve only got to beat two bums, fondamentalement. Wilder and Joshua and that’s it. They both haven’t got a brain cell between them so it shouldn’t be too hard for a great boxer like myself.”

Rosales (27-3, 18 KOs), combats hors du Nicaragua, fera la première défense du titre mondial du titre qu'il a remporté en avril dernier au Japon, quand il a arrêté Daigo Higa au neuvième tour. Rosales est le cousin de Roman Gonzalez, l'ancien roi de boxe de 4 livres.

 

 

Le champion en titre de la mouche intercontinentale WBO, Barnes (5-0, 1 KO) se battra également à domicile à Belfast devant sa base de fans passionnés. L'un des plus grands boxeurs amateurs irlandais de tous les temps, Barnes se battra pour un titre mondial dans seulement son sixième combat professionnel. Lewiston, Maine (Juin 18, 2016) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) a organisé le dernier événement de la promotion du combat, “NEF 24: TERRE PROMISE” Samedi nuit au Colisée Androscoggin Bank de Lewiston, Maine. L'événement a présenté une gamme complète de boxe professionnelle, arts martiaux mixtes amateurs (MMA) et des combats de MMA professionnels. Presque 2,000 emballé les salles sacrées où Muhammad Ali a autrefois défendu le championnat du monde des poids lourds contre Sonny Liston. Un hommage vidéo spécial a été présenté en l'honneur d'Ali avant le début de l'événement.

 

Pour la deuxième fois depuis avril, Brandon Berry (11-2-1) et James Lester(11-9-1) est allé la distance. Ce temps, contrairement au dernier combat qui a été marqué par un match nul, il y avait un gagnant. Lester retourne dans sa ville natale de Detroit, Michigan, le nouveau champion de boxe poids welter junior du Nord-Est après avoir remporté une décision unanime.

 

Alex Walker (1-1) et Nicole Burgess (0-1) a maintenu vivante la tradition des combats de femmes en volant la vedette aux événements de la NEF. Lewiston, Maine (Juin 7, 2016) – In an international boxing match-up, Irlande invaincu Steve Collins, Jr. (7-0-1, 3 KOs) will face his stiffest test yet as a pro when he takes on Mexico’s José Humberto Corral (19-21, 12 KOs) in a six-round cruiserweight fight on Juin 18, 2016 at The Androscoggin Bank Colisée. The bout will take place as part of New England Fights’ (NEF) prochain événement “NEF 24: TERRE PROMISE.”

 

Collins, Jr., the son of former world champion and Irish boxing legend “The Celtic Warrior” Steve Collins (36-3, 21 KOs), will be fighting in the United States for the third consecutive time after having each of his first six fights in Ireland and Great Britain.

 

“I’m happy to be back over in the States fighting,” dit Collins, Jr. “The crowd and the fans have really seemed to enjoy my fighting and style that I bring to the boxing world. I’ve been training hard at the Celtic Warriors Gym here in Ireland, and I’m looking forward to putting my knowledge to use in the ring. My next opponent has got a lot of fights under his belt, but I’m looking forward to giving him another loss.”

 

Jose Humberto Corral is a former amateur standout on the Mexican national team who has made a career as a pro as a journeyman giving solid tests to future world champions like Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin and regional prospects like Chris Traietti, Vinnie Carita and Paul Gonsalves.

 

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to fight Steve Collins in Maine,” said Corral recently through a translator. “Sure he’s an undefeated prospect and son of a former world champion, but I’ve got way more ring experience, and you can’t teach that. If I had a peso for every time I got beat up by the son of a former world champion, I would have zero pesos. I look forward to showcasing my skills in the same building Muhammad Ali fought in and leaving with all the American boxing fans looking forward to me coming back.”

 

Collins Jr. is promoted by Murphy’s Boxing USA, a boxing organization headed by Ken Casey of the popular rock band The Dropkick Murphys who are well known for hit songs like “I’m Shipping up to Boston,” “The State of Massachusetts” et “Skinhead on the MBTA.”

 

“It’s wonderful to be able to have Steve Jr. here so often,” said Ken Casey when reached for comment from Cork, Ireland during the band’s latest European tour. “This will be his third fight here in the States in less than a year, and we are all excited to see where it goes from there. He’s proven that he can step out of his father’s shadow and legacy, and make a career and name for himself.
