WORCESTER, Masse. (Octobre 29, 2017) – Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Gabriel “Il a attaqué” Gonzague has a successful pro boxing debut last night (Samedi, Octobre. 28) in the co-featured event on the “L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre 4” carte, présenté par Promotions Rivera Divertissement (À propos de nous), au DCU Center, Salle d'exposition, à Worcester.

The heavy-handed Gonzaga picked up the pace in the third and his upset-minded opponent responded in a positive fashion. Both fighters exchanged freely in the fourth and final round, neither was hurt during the contest, and Gonzaga was awarded a win by four-round majority decision.
I thought I’d be more relaxed in the ring like I had been in the gym,” Gonzaga said. “I did my best and came away with a victory. I was too safe in the third round. My punches were much strong and a lot of his punches I blocked with my gloves. This was really great! ce soir”

Un nouveau chapitre de boxe pour l'ancien challenger au titre des poids lourds de l'UFC, Gabriel “Il a attaqué” Gonzague

Octobre 28 à Worcester, MA
WORCESTER, Masse. (Octobre 19, 2017) – The next chapter of former UFC heavyweight title challenger Gabriel “Il a attaqué” Gonzague starts October 28e when he makes his professional boxing debut fighting on theNew England Future 4” carte, the fourth and final 2017 installment of the popular professional boxing series, “L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre”, to be held at the DCU Center (Salle d'exposition) à Worcester, Massachusetts.
“L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre 4” est présenté par Rivera Promotions Entertainment (À propos de nous), qui est détenue et exploitée par trois retraités, double champion du monde de division Jose Antonio Rivera et son fils, Antoine (A.J.) Rivera.
The 38-year-old Gonzaga teaches Brazilian Ju-Jitsu (BJJ) in Worcester and lives nearby in Ludlow (MA). An imposing physical fighter, la 6′ 2″, 260-pound Gonzaga (17-11-0, 7 KOs, 9 SUBs, 1 Décembre), détient 4e degree black belt in BJJ. The highlight of his MMA career was at the 2007 UFC 70, held in Manchester, Royaume-Uni, in which he knocked out K-1, Pride and Rizen champion Mirko Cro Cop with a head kick in the opening round, positioning Gonzaga for his unsuccessful challenge of UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture in his next fight.
Gonzague, who retired from MMA 1 Il y a ½ ans, also defeated Ben Rothwell, Shawn Jordan et Chris Tuchscherer, among the more notable UFC fighters he faced in the Octagon.
(L-R) – Rocky Gonzalez & Gabriel Gonzaga
Gonzago has a new opponent for his four-round bout, Tampa’s pro-debuting Alejandro Esquilin Santiago, who also has a pro MMA background.
I like challenges in my life,” Gonzaga explained why he’s making his pro debut. “I set new goals because I like to be competitive in sports. I have a good boxing coach who told me I should try. I was a BJJ (Jiu-Jitsu brésilien) world champion and UFC title contender. I have good boxing skills and plan to put on a good show. I do have one-punch power and hit hard.
I started boxing in 2001 and worked at it every day for two years to learn, but then I was competing in MMA. Maintenant, I’m focused on boxing. I think boxing is the hardest part of MMA. I know you can’t make mistakes in boxing and there’s no time to relax. En MMA, I could relax a little at times in clinches, but the referee won’t allow that in boxing. I’ll probably fight more than once but not too many because of my age and I’m not really at the high-level of boxing like I was in MMA.
Gonzaga’s head boxing trainer, Rocky Gonzalez, has been working with several MMA fighters, including Gonzaga, for more than a decade to help them improve their striking skills. Gonzalez freely admits that Gonzaga knew how to box before he started working with him, crediting Gonzaga’s Muay Thai coach, and that boxing came naturally to the big Brazilian who has made an easy adjustment from the Octagon to the ring. Gonzalez also feels that leg positioning differences for MMA fighters switching to boxing, in terms of throwing proper punches, is somewhat overrated.
“dans la boxe,” Gonzalez dit, “fighters need their hands like their legs and elbows in MMA. Distance and timing is more important than where their legs and feet are positioned. Gabriel doesn’t like sparring with headgear, si, his sparring is more like real fighting. He’s been hot with some real shots but he’s responded well. He’s always going to have a puncher’s chance and he’s deceptive because he doesn’t look as fast as he is.
We didn’t really plan anything but he got this good opportunity. He’s always wanted to turn pro as a boxer and go from there. Gabriel is a good listener who keeps working hard to get better. When he first brought up boxing, he was contracted by the UFC, but we started talking about him boxing after the UFC released him. He knew Jose from him teaching boxing. Gabriel isn’t doing this for the money. He’s a competitive guy who wanted to try boxing.
Former WBU Americans and IBU North American cruiserweight champion, Vinnie “Cauchemar américain” histoire (16-1-1, 15 KOs), combats hors de Pembroke (MA), will take on Bolivian heavyweight champion Saul “El Fenjx AsesinoFaraff (64-23-3, 56 KOs) en cas de huit tour.
Hartford’s (CT) popular Richard “Popeye le marin” Rivera (3-0, 2 KOs) répond Hansen Castillo (0-2) in the four-round, co-featured event to be contested at a 180-pound catchweight.
Many of New England’s best and most popular N.E. fighters will be in action, y compris 2014 n.s.. Golden Gloves champion Adrian “Tonka” Sosa (4-0, 3 KOs), combats de proximité Laurent (MA), vs. veteran Norwalk (CT) welters Shakha Moore (12-23-3, 2 KOs) dans un match de six rondes.
Also fighting on the undercard in four-round fights include 2016 n.s.. Golden Gloves champio, Anthony Laureano (5-0, 3 KOs), East Hartford (CT) vs. Bruno Dias (0-3), de Woburn (MA), New Haven (CT) Edwin Soto (10-2-2, 4 KOs) vs. Anthony Everett (1-6). de Lawrence, at a 150-pound catchweight, triple champion des États-Unis de boxe Elvis Figueroa (2-0, 1 KO), de New Haven (CT), vs. pro-debuting Brazilian native René Nazare, Southbridge (MA) poids welter junior Wilfredo “le Sucaro” Païen (2-0) vs. Patrick Leal (0-3), de Woburn (MA), at a 150-pound catchweight, Danbury (CT) poids welter junior Omar Bordoy, Jr. (2-0) vs. Schenectady (New York) vétéranBryan “La brique” Abraham (6-30, 6 KOs), et Timmy Ramos (4-0-1, 4 KOs), de Framingham (MA) vs. Seth Basler (0-2), of Illinois.

Vinnie “Cauchemar américain” Carita boxes in his own unique way

Octobre 28 à Worcester, MA
WORCESTER, Masse. (Octobre 12, 2017) – Once-beaten Vinnie “American Dream” histoire is preparing in an entirely different way than all other fighters on the October 28eNew England Future 4” carte, the fourth and final 2017 installment of the popular professional boxing series, “L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre”, to be held at the DCU Center (Salle d'exposition) à Worcester, Massachusetts.
“L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre 4” est présenté par Rivera Promotions Entertainment (À propos de nous), qui est détenue et exploitée par trois retraités, double champion du monde de division Jose Antonio Rivera et son fils, Antoine (A.J.) Rivera.
I am happy to have a dedicated, hard-working boxer like Vinnie Carita headlining our boxing event on Samedi, October 28th au Centre DCU,” promoter Jose Antonio Rivera said. “He is a perfect example of why my son, A.J., and I started RPE. We want to be able to help boxers grow their careers and create a platform for them to get bigger and better opportunities.
A former WBU Americans and IBU North American cruiserweight champion, histoire (16-1-1, 15 KOs) will take on Bolivian heavyweight champion Saul “El Fenjx AsesinoFaraff (64-23-3, 56 KOs) en cas de huit tour.
histoire, combats hors de Pembroke (MA), will move up in weight once again to fight another foreign opponent. In the world of boxing, not only does Carita fight, he’s his own promoter, directeur, trainer and matchmaker. En dehors de l'anneau, Carita is a fulltime court officer in Brockton (MA), as well as a part-time security contractor for the Department of Defense (DOD).
Although his incredibly busy schedule leaves little, if any, downtown to relax, Carita thrives because he’s so dedicated, disciplined and driven. He starts each day at 4 a.m., running or doing cardio exercising, works his day job, and hits the gym to train between 9-10 p.m. on a regular basis for a scheduled fight. When he’s had some free time to travel, Vinne has gone to New York, Philadelphia and even Montreal for quality sparring.
He started boxing at seven, when he first walked into a gym, and captured a Southeast Regionals Golden Glove title but, à 14, only boxed sporadically, until he turned pro at 20. “I definitely have a passion for boxing,” the 32-year-old confessed. “I’m a boxing fanatic. If I’m not training, I’m watching fights, live or on television. It’s my love. Boxing will always be part of me and when I finally hang up my gloves, I want to be a referee, so I can still be in the ring, and have the best seat. Je ne veux pas juger. Bigger guys last longer than smaller fighters. I want to continue doing this until by late thirties, maybe early forties.
I fell in love with the cruiserweight division when I saw the (Vassily) Jirov-(Jacques) Toney lutte (at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut). The cruiserweight division is hot right now with the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS). (Oleksandr) Usyk could win the tournament, unifying all four major belts, and then move up to heavyweight. That could be good for me if I was one of the eight fighting for one of the four vacant (major) titres. I’ll look for the right fights until then, against guys who’ve been around and maybe competed for world or regional titles, like my next opponent (Faraff), who is the WBC Latino heavyweight champion.
histoire, who occasionally is forced to fight as a heavyweight as he will against Faraff, will still weigh in around 200-205 livres. He walks around at 208 and usually weighs in at 194-196 for his cruiserweight fights. “I have no plans to compete as a heavyweight,” il dit. “I’ve fought some heavyweights and it looks better for me to go the distance, or stop, guys much bigger than me. I try and pick the right guys to advance my career.
Why has Carita fought so many opponents from countries all over the world? Networking. His job with the DOD, before he started working as a court officer, found him traveling around the world. Wherever he went – Afrique du Sud, Dubai, Irlande du Nord, etc. – he worked out at boxing gyms and made invaluable connections, establishing working relationships with many managers and matchmakers who he’s remained in contact with throughout his pro boxing career.
Because he trains himself, Carita only has one regular person working his corner, Pittsfield (MA) court officer John Felix, who he first met when they were drill instructors at the academy. Carita adds a cut-man for his fight but he tends to keep things lean and mean, even in his corner.
Nobody knows better or appreciates more what promoter Jose Antonio Rivera accomplished when he was world champion working full-time as a court officer in Worcester.
To work full-time, raise children, train to be a world-class fighter and become world champion three times speaks volumes about Jose,” Carita commented. “Maintenant, he’s promoting and putting guys like me on his shows.
I understand perfectly how hard and demanding his schedule is working a fulltime job as a court officer and training to try to achieve his goals of fighting for and winning world championship,” Rivera a ajouté. “I am glad Vinnie has chosen to give RPE an opportunity to be able to help him get closer to achieving his dream.
Dans le cas de co-vedette, Hartford’s (CT) popular Richard “Popeye le marin” Rivera (3-0, 2 KOs) répond Hansen Castillo (0-2) in the four-round bout to be contested at a 180-pounds catch-weight.
Le “L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre 4” undercard features many of the best and most popular N.E. combattants, unbeaten East Hartford (CT) welterweight and 2016 n.s.. Golden Gloves champion, Anthony Laureano (5-0, 3 KOs), who meets welterweight Clifton Rashad Thames (3-2-1), d'Oklahoma City, dans un combat de six rondes.
Former UFC heavyweight title challenger Gabriel “Il a attaqué” Gonzague makes his pro boxing debut in a four-round bout versus Washington D.C. poids lourd Alando Pugh (1-10-1, 1 KO).
Other undercard fights, all four-rounders, include two-time national champion and hometown favorite, Policier “BH3” Harris III (1-0), vs. Troy “Omar KO Artiste” artiste (3-7-1, 2 KOs), 2014 n.s.. Southbridge (MA) poids welter junior Wilfredo “le Sucaro” Païen (2-0) vs. Oscar Díaz (0-12), de Hartford, and Danbury (CT) poids welter junior Omar Bordoy, Jr. (2-0) vs. Alan Beeman (0-15), de la Providence.

The two fighters came out fast in a firefight, both throwing leather from all angles, although neither was hurt in the opening round. The pace picked up even more in the second as both fighters landed solid shots.
Fighting in the third round for the first time in his young professional career, Gonzalez turned up the heat, ripping effective combination to the head and body of Lopez, who responded by pounding Gonzalez on the ropes.
Gonzalez dropped Lopez early in the fourth with a strong right to the chin, followed by a brawling fifth round, and the action slowed slightly in the sixth. Gonzalez, who took control in the final two rounds, went the distance for the first time, taking a hard-fought eight-round unanimous decision (79-73 X 2, 76-75).
He was definitely the toughest I’ve fought,” Gonzalez said after the fight. “I still have to work on things in the gym. I didn’t go to the body like I did in my last few fights. Pro boxing returns to the DCU Center for the first time en 11 ans, when promoter Jose Antonio Rivera defeated Alejandro Garcia, by way of a 12-round unanimous decision, pour l'Association mondiale de boxe (WBA) World super welterweight title.

She is a Springfield College graduate and has two Master’s Degrees. “I’m honored to be fighting in the first world title fight in Worcester since Jose Rivera,” Lamonakis said. “I’m from Massachusetts and I fought twice at Mechanics Hall (à Worcester, including her pro debut in 2010). I heard Jose was promoting shows in Worcester, so I called to say I’d like to fight for a world title on one of his cards. I think he saw me fight before and he quickly agreed.
This is still a make-dominates sport. I tell young girls to box as a side job. I have two Master’s Degrees and I’m a full-time teacher in New York. Boxing is my hobby. Very few women can make enough money boxing to make a good living. I don’t know if it’s because I was born in Greece and boxing is in my blood, but I love this sport and that’s what keeps me going. I guess I was born to fight. I enjoy getting in the ring. I’ve gotten a lot from boxing and now I’m giving back to amateurs in New York City as president of a youth organization.

Her opponent, Ramsey (10-7, KOs), as a two-time world title challenger is hoping the third time is the charm for her. They have history together and this fight nearly happened a few years ago.
I beat her daughter (Alysia Williams-Stevenson) in my second pro fight,” Lamonakis explained. “She said she’s see me and now, seven years later, we’re fighting. She’s a little older than me and I needed more fights before I fought her. We were supposed to fight a few years ago in Aruba but a hurricane cancelled the show.

Budding star Irvin Gonzalez Starting to make waves in Super featherweight division

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE
“L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre 3” 10 juin à Worcester, MA

WORCESTER, Masse. (Mai 24, 2017) – New England’s top prospect with 10 pro fights of less, undefeated hometown favorite Irvin Gonzalez, is on a fast track going into his June 10e headline fight in the third installment of the “L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre” série, au Centre DCU (Salle d'exposition) à Worcester, Massachusetts.

“L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre 3” est présenté par Rivera Promotions Entertainment (À propos de nous), qui est détenue et exploitée par trois retraités, double champion du monde de division Jose Antonio Rivera et son fils, Antoine (A.J.) Rivera.
The 21-year-old Gonzalez (6-0, 6 KOs) prend Raul Lopez (10-2-1, 5 KOs), du Bronx (New York), in an eight-round main event for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) All-American super featherweight championship.
Pro boxing returns to the DCU Center for the first time en 11 ans, ironiquement, when promoter Jose Antonio Rivera defeated Alejandro Garcia, by way of a 12-round unanimous decision, pour l'Association mondiale de boxe (WBA) World super welterweight title.
I am excited to watch Irvin’s boxing career flourish,” promoter Jose Rivera remarked. “He has all the tools to become a world champion. Fighting for the UBF championship will be the first of many and I am glad that we are able to give him this opportunity. I see big things for Irvin and I hope fans come out Samedi nuit, Juin 10e, to support him and the other local boxers.”.
“Ceci est une grande opportunité pour moi,” Gonzalez dit. “I’m blessed to be fighting in Worcester for my first title. It’s not a big title but it’s like taking baby steps to a world title. Since I started boxing at the Boys & Girls club, I always wanted to be like Jose, a three-time world champion. Maintenant, it’s my turn, and I’m fighting again in my city.
Gonzalez has a perfect pro record: six rights, six wins by knockout. Cependant, he’s only had fought a grand total of eight rounds, et Juin 10e he’s in a scheduled eight-round match. The well-spoken youngster isn’t concerned with the step up in rounds and opposition.
I’ve been asked about that by a lot of media, trainers and other fighters,” il a expliqué. “I’ve always trained like it’s for a world title fight, 12 tours, so I’m not worried about going into deep water. I’m in magnificent shape, three weeks before the fight, and even in the amateurs I’ve always gotten stronger as the fight went along. In sparring, I get stronger, so going eight isn’t a problem for me.
I don’t really know much about my opponent. He won a few national titles but hasn’t fought too often. I’ll see what he brings into the ring and then adjust. I know I’m taller.
Gonzalez learned a lot when he was a sparring partner for Guillermo Rigondeaux in Florida that was supposed to be a six-week training camp that ended after three weeks due to Rigondeauxfight being cancelled.
I learned a lot about different training methods that I now use,” Irvin continued. “His techniques are phenomenal. I was around a world champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist and I saw his work ethic. After all he’s accomplished, he still has a great work ethic, and I learned from him that a fighter need continue working like he does until the day it’s all over. It’s not all about money, it’s having fun every day, doing what we love.
Former world female heavyweight champions SonyaThe ScholarLamonakis (10-2-2, 1 KO), the New York City teacher who lived in Turners Falls (MA), et LauraLady Ram” Ramsey (10-7, 5 KOs) battle for the vacant UBF World heavyweight title in the eight-round co-featured event.
