DESPITE SETBACKS, NATE BOUCHER IS NOT BACKING DOWN

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE: Bangor, Maine (Janvier 23, 2019) – Nate Boucher’s journey inside the New England Fights’ (NEF) arts martiaux mixtes (MMA) cage has not been a course without its challenges and heartbreak along the way.

After winning his first two outings at the start of his amateur fight career, Boucher, a lifelong wrestler, earned a chance to compete for the NEF Flyweight Championship. His title shot came in November 2017 in front of a sold-out crowd when NEF made its highly anticipated Portland, Maine debut. Cette nuit, Boucher was outscored on the judge’s cards and dropped a close, controversial split-decision to NEF veteran Justin Witham. It’s a loss that continues to confound Boucher almost a year and a half later.

“As far as I’m concerned, I won the flyweight title that night,” Boucher stated recently in an interview with Ryan Jarrell and Bryan Stackpole on theBetween Rounds RadioPodcast. “I try to watch that fight and be optimistic the best that I can. I try to watch that fight and be respectful of what the judge’s could have seen. There’s not an absolute bone in my body that sees the fight going the way the judge’s said it went. The Witham loss would be followed by two more defeats for Boucher.

In Boucher’s first fight back after losing to Witham, he dropped another split-decision against his hometown wrestling rival, multiple-time state champion, and former NEF Flyweight Champion, Ryan "Gordo" Burgess.

Jumping right back into the cage two months after his loss to Burgess, Boucher sustained the only stoppage defeat on his record when he lost via third-round technical knockout to former bantamweight title contender, Walt Shea, who fights out of John Raio’s First Class MMA in Brunswick, Maine.

Novembre dernier, down but not out, Boucher rebounded from three-losses-in-a-row by finishing 2018 off with a first-round submission victory over Jordan Young, a state champion wrestler from Belfast, Maine. The contest took place in the 135-pound weight class.

“Jordan was coming off of a win against my teammate—a tough teammate of mine,» Dit Boucher. “Not many guys on a three-fight skid would take a fight with a guy coming off of a win and then beat him in the first round. Si, I hope that opened some eyes for people so they know exactly what I’m about and they know that I’m strong mentally.

“I’m very happy with myself that I was able to fight like I train,” Boucher recounted regarding his win over Young. “The cut to 135 isn’t as much as it is to flyweight and I think that played a big part in my cardio. I was in great shape for that fight. Mentalement, I knew I was going to win months before the fight happened.”

With six bouts already under his belt, Boucher, at only 22-years of age, knows that he still has limitless room to grow within the sport.

“I’m an amateur,” he noted to Jarrell and Stackpole. “I’m a student of the game and I’m learning and developing my skills. I haven’t even come close to what my full potential is. I knew what I can achieve—I know what is possible if I stay on the path.”

Boucher’s 2019 fight season officially begins on Friday, Février 1st when he’s scheduled to face newcomer Dillon Henry from First Class MMA. Henry is also a wrestler, having competed for Windham High School. Henry now trains with one of Boucher’s previous opponents, Walt Shea. Regardless of being pitted against the teammate of the only fighter that’s ever stopped him in MMA competition, Boucher stated that he’s confident in the matchup.

“I know he’s going to be training with Walt Shea, évidemment,» Dit Boucher. “I know that Walt Shea is going to pass down information he feels is going to help him. It won’t… He seems to look like a strong guy. All I am going to do is I’m going to prepare myself and I’m going to become a better fighter in this fight camp and I’m going to go out there and fight him. I think it will go my way, for sure.”

Squaring off in the cage against other talented wrestlers is nothing new for Boucher. He defeated four-time Maine state wrestling champion Jeremiah Barkac by first-round submission the last time he competed in Bangor. Ryan Burgess was a three-time state champion for Mountain Valley High School in Rumford, Maine.

“I probably perform at my best against wrestlers,” Boucher stated. “They have really bad habits that a lot of wrestlers don’t seem to be able to shake off their first couple of fights, including myself. Fortunate for me, I have a coach like Jesse Erickson who’s a top-level guy when it comes to the jiu jitsu game around these parts, and he’s shown me the difference between what wrestling the sport is and what wrestling in a fight is. They’re different types of wrestling. I think he’s [Henri] going to expose himself and leave himself open. He’s going to make some rookie mistakes and I’m going to capitalize.”

While the prospect of defeating another wrestler in the NEF cage is an inspiring proposition to Boucher, he’s also excited by the opportunity to once again compete in Maine’s Queen City.

“I’ve never lost in Bangor,” Nate said. “I love that venue. I love the city of Bangor. I’m excited to be there and I’m excited to be sharing a card with some of the monsters that are on it. There’s a lot of great fights on this card and I’m very much looking forward to seeing some of them myself. It’s going to be a great show—I can’t wait.”

“I’m starting to earn my stripes a little bit in the cage,” Boucher added. “I’m starting to get more comfortable. I’m starting to feel more and more like a recognized name in the NEF—and I think all of that is going to play a factor. I think he’s [Henri] bit off a little more than he can chew for his first fight and, malheureusement, he’s going to figure that out very hard on February 1.”

As 2018 came to a close, Boucher, like many forward-thinking individuals, clearly defined his goals for the year ahead.

“I will be the flyweight champ in the NEF at the end of this year [2019],” Boucher stated confidently. "Aucun doute là dessus. That’s what my mind is set on right now.

“My teammate, Kam Arnold, he’s going to carry that belt straight through at 135. Homme, the two of us together are some bad dudes. I’m fortunate to have him to push me through this mentally and be able to get me on the right mindset of what a champion is supposed to be—and I’m going to be there, right there with him at flyweight. Homme, it’s going to be one hell of a one-two punch, c'est sûr."

Lewiston, Maine (Janvier 10, 2018) – Ayant grandi dans la même communauté cols bleus et avançant dans la même, programme sportif étagés ne fait pas nécessairement deux hommes meilleurs amis.

 

 

 

Anciens Mountain Valley Haute école coéquipiers, et l'avenir Nouvelle-Angleterre Combats adversaires d'arts martiaux mixtes, Ryan Burgess et Nate Boucher sont la preuve de la vieille maxime, “familiarité engendre le mépris.”

 

 

 

Bourgeois, 24, et Boucher, 21, se disputeront dans un combat de poids mouche amateur à « NEF 32: Super Samedi"Sur Samedi, Février 3. La lutte à Androscoggin Bank Colisee déterminera le numéro un dans la division 125 livres, et gagner le gagnant un titre tiré contre le champion Justin Witham.

 

 

 

Il aura été presque un an depuis Burgess, trois fois Maine haute champion de lutte scolaire et tenant du titre NEF passé, est entré dans la cage. Il a appelé NEF co-propriétaire et agent de liaison Matt Peterson et plus particulièrement demandé la lutte Boucher.

« Je suis pour un an. J'espérais sauter tout de suite dans un combat pour le titre,» Burgess a expliqué. « Après le combat de Nate avec Witham, Je savais qu'il voudrait le match retour immédiat. Une fois qu'il est devenu évident que n'allait se passer jusqu'à Avril, J'ai demandé si nous pouvions faire ce combat en Février, et Nate a pris « .

 

 

 

Bourgeois (2-2) par la suite lancé une ou deux grenades de médias sociaux qui semblaient indiquer un certain degré d'animosité envers son compatriote Falcon. Burgess est l'un des quatre états de trois champions de l'histoire MVHS. Coïncidence, Le frère de Boucher, Ethan, aussi accompli l'exploit.

 

 

 

Boucher, qui a déjà sorti quatre fois Maine haute champion du tapis scolaire, et deux fois finaliste Nouvelle-Angleterre, Jeremiah Barkac de Dexter pendant son temps dans l'hexagone NEF, ressemble et sonne comme un personnage différent de celui qui a lutté loin du tapis comme un adolescent.

« Je pensais que je contrôlais les deux premiers tours de la lutte. Tous les trois, vraiment. Les deux premiers j'avais à peu près (Avec H) étouffé,» Dit Boucher. « Il a fini par être une expérience d'apprentissage pour moi que vous ne pouvez pas laisser la lutte aux juges. La grande chose au sujet des rangs amateurs est, tout bien sûr, je me soucie de mon dossier, à la fin de la journée, il fait partie du processus d'apprentissage pour vous faire un meilleur professionnel « .

 

 

 

En réponse à Burgess’ sur Facebook volées, Boucher interrogé l'ancien comportement de champion après avoir remporté la sangle NEF deux combats dans sa carrière.

 

 

 

« Je ne suis pas beaucoup pour le trash talk. J'apprécie juste le sport. J'aime se battre et puis juste rentrer à la maison. Il le fait un peu pour construire son ego, je pense,» Dit Boucher. « Il a laissé tomber la ceinture parce qu'il avait du mal à faire le poids, ce qui est assez irrespectueux, pour moi. Il était pendant un certain temps, alors maintenant je suis devant lui, et il sait qu'il doit passer par moi « .

 

 

 

Burgess a dit qu'il a utilisé cette mise à pied pour terminer ses études collégiales et développer ses lettres de créance en tant que assistant kinésithérapeute, indiquant que la profession médicale est plus susceptible d'être sa carrière à long terme que MMA.

 

 

 

Alors qu'il poursuit son programme de formation au Centre communautaire Rumford avec Berserkers MMA, Burgess a dit qu'il était moins intense et structuré avant ses pertes contre Witham et Dustin Veinott. Burgess a battu précédemment les deux rivaux.

 

 

 

« Physiquement, j'aurais encore battus, mais mentalement je n'étais pas préparé comme je l'aurais été. Maintenant, je suis beaucoup plus concentré,» A déclaré Burgess. « Au moment où je terminais l'école, travaillant à temps partiel 20 à 30 heures par semaine et aller à l'école pour probablement une autre 40. J'ai perdu deux combats où je me trouvais sous le poids. Je prendre du poids alors que les autres gars ont la coupe de poids. Je vais là-bas à la limite et ils seraient mis sur 10 à 15 livres entre la pesée et la lutte « .

 

 

 

Boucher certes jamais atteint son potentiel en tant que lutteur scolaire. Il a suivi un chemin différent de Burgess, l'inscription au Central Maine Jiu-Jitsu - où il forme encore aujourd'hui - à l'âge 13.

 

 

 

«J'ai quelques-uns des meilleurs partenaires et les plus difficiles de formation dans l'État,» Dit Boucher. « Mon jiu-jitsu a parcouru un long chemin, presque au point où il a passé ma lutte un peu. Bien sûr, la lutte est ce que je vais toujours revenir quand je besoin. Ma frappe est la nuit et jour. Il était horrible pour mon premier combat « .

 

 

 

Il a ajouté que son plus grand succès dans le MMA est venu au détriment des anciens lutteurs.

 

 

 

Burgess compte sur Boucher à sous-estimer le reste de son répertoire. Comme quelqu'un qui a pris aux prises sur l'équipe junior collège universitaire en septième année, il a dit que son histoire comme une étude rapide a reporté en royaume de jiu-jitsu et la boxe.

 

 

 

« Je pense qu'il va être surpris. Il pense qu'il sait ce que j'apporter à la table,» A déclaré Burgess. « Tout ce qu'il sait sur moi est ma lutte, mais j'ai beaucoup plus que cela pour se replier sur. Je sais déjà ce qu'il apporte à la table. Et il ne va pas apprendre dans deux mois ce que j'ai appris dans deux ans."

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE: Portland, Maine (Novembre 3, 2017) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) a fait ses débuts tant attendus à Portland, Maine Samedi nuit devant une foule à guichets fermés à Aura.

Dans l'événement principal de la soirée, favori de la ville natale Paul Gorman (11-9) a pris James Blair (5-2) dans un concours de poids de 130 livres. La foule était au bord de son siège collectif pour une guerre à trois tours passionnante qui sera définitivement “combat de l'année” candidat pour 2017. Gorman a retiré la décision unanime sur les juges’ tableaux de bord.

Le John toujours populaire “Première classe” Rayon (3-8) retourné dans la cage du NEF après une retraite de trois ans. Rayon a fait face à un jeu Zenon Herrera (0-6) et est sorti avec la victoire au troisième tour quand Herrera a tiré sur un étranglement à guillotine.

Sur le côté amateur de la carte, trois nouveaux champions ont été couronnés. Terrance Jean-Jacques (3-0) est devenu le nouveau champion poids lourd amateur du NEF avec une victoire unanime sur le champion en titre Nick Gulliver (4-1). Justin Witham (4-4) est le nouveau tenant du titre des poids mouches après avoir battu Nate Boucher (2-1) par décision partagée. Hilarie Rose (5-3) est entrée dans l'histoire en tant que première championne féminine de l'histoire de la promotion en remportant le titre de champion de paille contre Alex Walker (4-2).

Jayda Bailey a fixé deux jalons tôt dans la nuit (1-0) est devenu le plus jeune combattant à sortir victorieux de la cage du NEF, tandis que Garry Carr (1-0) a pris l'honneur du plus ancien combattant à avoir jamais gagné dans la cage du NEF. Bailey se tourna 18 seulement huit jours avant l'événement. Carr est 56 ans jeune.

NEF ANNOUNCES MONUMENTAL FIGHT CARD FOR PORTLAND DEBUT

Portland, Maine (Octobre 6, 2017) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) will make its long-awaited debut in Portland on Vendredi, Novembre 3, 2017 at Aura with “NEF 31: The Old Port.” Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the fight promotion announced the full fight card for the event featuring a full slate of professional and amateur mixed-martial-arts bouts.

Maine fan-favorite Paul Gorman (10-9) est prévue pour le Jacques “The Flyin’ Hawaiian” Blair (5-1) in the main event of the evening. Gorman, the former NEF bantamweight titleholder and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt out of the Academy in Portland, makes his return to the NEF cage after a three-year absence. Blair is a hot prospect from the world-renowned American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida where he trains alongside a veritable murderers’ row of current and former world champions like Mike Brown (26-9), Tyron Woodley (18-3-1), and Joanna Jędrzejczyk (14-0) Juste pour en nommer quelques-uns.

Reigning NEF Professional Middleweight Champion CJ Aiguière (3-0) will be in action when he takes on Crowsneck Boutin (2-3) in a non-title affair. Jean “Première classe” Rayon (2-8) will come out of retirement to face Zenon “K-Bar” Herrera (0-5). Raio last fought in the summer of 2015. He is the head coach of First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine. Herrera, a veteran of both the United States Army and Marine Corps, is looking for his first win since joining the professional ranks two years ago.

The amateur side of the card will feature a total of three title fights. NEF Amateur Heavyweight Champion Entaille “The Guardian” Gulliver (4-0) will defend his strap against WWE signeeTerrance Jean-Jacques (2-0), tandis que Nate Boucher (2-0) et Justin Witham (3-4) square off for the vacant flyweight title. Alex Walker (4-1) et Hilarie Rose (4-3) will make history when they battle for the first-ever NEF women’s championship in the strawweight division.

The Walker-Rose fight will be one of four female bouts featured on the “NEF 31” amateur card. Carol Linn Powell (0-0), wife of former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion and current UFC competitor Devin Powell (8-3), is scheduled to make her cage debut against Francesca Morabito (0-0). jayda “Lil Killah” Mur d'enceinte (0-0) makes her debut just eight days after her 18th birthday, the legal minimum age for competing in MMA in Maine, in a bantamweight bout with Danae Dostie (0-0) tandis que Sarah Matulis (0-0) et Chelsea Elizabeth(0-0) face off in yet another double amateur debut.

NEF FLYWEIGHT TITLE WILL BE UP FOR GRABS IN PORTLAND

Portland, Maine (Août 21, 2017) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) will make its debut in Portland on Vendredi, Novembre 3, 2017 at Aura with “NEF 31: The Old Port.” Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur mixed-martial-arts title bout to the card. Nate Boucher (2-0) fera face Justin Witham (3-4) with the winner to be crowned the new NEF MMA Amateur Flyweight Champion. The 125-pound title currently sits vacant.

Nate Boucher brings a background in wrestling with him to the cage. He competed for Mountain Valley High School (MVHS) in Rumford, Maine prior to training in MMA. Boucher made his NEF debut in 2014, just months after his eighteenth birthday – the legal age limit for competing in MMA in Maine. Earlier this month in Bangor, Boucher made his return to the NEF cage. He was victorious by first-round submission over Jeremiah Barkac (0-1). Boucher is currently a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ).

Justin Witham got off to a slow start in his amateur career. He lost his first three in a row prior to his first victory over Brent Ouellette (0-1) by technical knockout in the first round. Lewiston, Maine (Décembre 15, 2016) Combats -Nouveau Angleterre (NEF) retourne au Colisée de la Banque Androscoggin le Février 11, 2017 avec son prochain événement d'arts martiaux mixtes, “NEF 27: RÉAPPARITION.” Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the fight promotion announced the addition of two amateur bouts to the card. Ryan Burgess (2-1) vont se battre Justin Witham (2-4) in a flyweight contest while his sister, Nicole Burgess (0-1), prend Sarah Ziehm (0-0) in the strawweight division.

 

This will not be the first time the Burgess siblings have competed on an NEF card together. En juin dernier à “NEF 24,” Ryan and Nicole would taste defeat at the hands of Dustin Veinott (5-4) and Alex Walker (2-1), respectivement. They will look to redeem themselves on Février 11.

 

“I’m super excited to get my sister back in the cage on the same card as me,” said Ryan Burgess. “She has always been a competitor and being able to train side by side with her throughout this fight camp will help me as much as it will help her. She is tough as nails and everything I will be helping her learn over the next two months will just reinforce the knowledge I have already obtained from my coaches. Her debut was against a seasoned fighter in Alex Walker and I can’t wait to see her take home her first win on 11 février.”

 

Ryan and Nicole are based out of the Berserkers MMA camp in Rumford, Maine. They grew up in neighboring Mexico, Maine. Ryan was a three-time state wrestling champion out of Mountain Valley High School, while Nicole, a multi-sport athlete, also wrestled and excelled in field hockey. She has continued her field hockey career at Plymouth State University. Ryan captured the NEF MMA Flyweight Title last year. Both siblings are confident that Nicole can replicate his success in the cage.

 

“Training with my brother is both a challenge and a blessing,” said Nicole. “We’ll get on each other’s nerves, but at the end of the day we want each other to succeed. Plus, he’s a good partner to have on your team.”

 

Ryan’s bout at “NEF 27” will be a rematch. In their first meeting, he defeated Justin Witham via unanimous decision at “NEF 18” in the summer of 2015.

 

“Rematching Witham will be a perfect opportunity for me to showcase the huge strides I have made over the last year and a half since the beginning of my MMA career. He is a really tough dude and I know he will show up for a war, but I have made huge improvements in all aspects of my game since adding Jason Bell to my corner and I will be the one to decide the outcome of this fight. I will control the pace of the fight and whether I want to take it to him on the feet or take him down and submit him, there is nothing he will be able to do to stop me. This fight will not go three rounds.”

 

Justin Witham is a member of the Shatterproof Combat Club. Since his loss to Burgess, Witham has gone 2-1 including an impressive submission win over Conner Murphy (1-1) dans sa sortie la plus récente. Witham is certain that he can defeat Burgess in the rematch.

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the cage,” said Nicole. “I think my first fight was a good learning experience and I got out all my nerves that I didn’t expect to have. Maintenant, it’s my turn to come out with a ‘W’ for my team.”

Lewiston, Maine (Juin 18, 2016) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) a organisé le dernier événement de la promotion du combat, “NEF 24: TERRE PROMISE” Samedi nuit au Colisée Androscoggin Bank de Lewiston, Maine. L'événement a présenté une gamme complète de boxe professionnelle, arts martiaux mixtes amateurs (MMA) et des combats de MMA professionnels. Presque 2,000 emballé les salles sacrées où Muhammad Ali a autrefois défendu le championnat du monde des poids lourds contre Sonny Liston. Un hommage vidéo spécial a été présenté en l'honneur d'Ali avant le début de l'événement.

 

Pour la deuxième fois depuis avril, Brandon Berry (11-2-1) et James Lester(11-9-1) est allé la distance. Ce temps, contrairement au dernier combat qui a été marqué par un match nul, il y avait un gagnant. Lester retourne dans sa ville natale de Detroit, Michigan, le nouveau champion de boxe poids welter junior du Nord-Est après avoir remporté une décision unanime.

 

Alex Walker (1-1) et Nicole Burgess (0-1) a maintenu vivante la tradition des combats de femmes en volant la vedette aux événements de la NEF.
