NEF FINISHES 2018 SEASON WITH SOLD-OUT EVENT IN PORTLAND

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE: Portland, Maine (Novembre 18, 2018) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) held its most recent mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 36: Bataille pour l'or,” on Saturday night at Aura in Portland, Maine. The event officially sold-out days prior to doors opening. It was the fifth and final NEF event of the 2018 saison, and what many in attendance insisted was the standout show of the year.

Dans l'événement principal, Ryan Sanders (18-9) put the NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Title on the line against Jacob Bohn (7-6). Sanders retained the championship after the cageside doctor stopped the fight due to a cut on Bohn’s head in the second round.

History was made when Ras Hylton (3-2) et Yorgan De Castro (3-0) faced off to crown the first-ever NEF MMA Professional Cruiserweight Champion in the co-main event. De Castro captured the strap in dramatic fashion with a violent first-round knockout of Hylton.

Matt Probin (3-0) made his long-awaited NEF debut against Lionel Young (7-16). Probin remained undefeated in his professional career when he forced a referee stoppage to strikes early in the second round.

In the opening fight of the evening, Taylor Thompson (3-0) et Catie Denning (1-1) waged an absolute war that had the entire crowd on its feet to kick off the amateur card. Thompson won a unanimous decision on the judges’ tableaux de bord.

Later on in the amateur card, Megan Rosado (0-1) et gloire Watson (2-0) battled back and forth in another crowd-pleasing thriller that went the distance. Watson was victorious via split decision in a very close fight.

In the third and final women’s fight of the evening, Chelsea Tucker (1-3) picked up the first win of her amateur career with a late-fight technical knockout of BJ Garceau (1-1).

Zac Richard (3-0) remained undefeated with a first-round submission of Chris Lachcik (0-2). It was a fight that Richard had dedicated to the memory of his older sister Lacey who passed away from cancer six years ago this weekend at the age of 23.

Également, in a post fight interview, an emotional Henry Clark (5-4) dedicated his victory over Killian Murphy (1-2) to a friend of his named Justin who recently passed away.

NEF further announced that its next event, “NEF 37: SUB ZERO,” would originate from the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine on Friday, Février 1, 2019. The main event will feature Josh “Hook On” Harvey (5-0-1) et Facture “Jonesi” Jones (13-11) squaring off for the vacant NEF MMA Professional Featherweight Title.

Portland, Maine (Novembre 2, 2018) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) tiendra sa dernière épreuve-arts martiaux mixtes de 2018, “NEF 36: Bataille pour l'or,” Samedi, Novembre 17 à Aura à Portland, Maine. Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the fight promotion announced the fight card for the event featuring a full slate of professional and amateur fights.

 

 

 

The professional side of the card will be headlined by a pair of title fights as Ryan Sanders (17-9) defends the lightweight strap against Jacob Bohn (7-5) et Ras Hylton (3-1) répond Yorgan De Castro (2-0) to crown the first-ever NEF cruiserweight champion.

 

 

 

Sanders has held the lightweight title since April 2017 when he defeated Jon Lemke (7-9) in a tournament final. He has won a remarkable eight in a row in the NEF cage, not losing on Maine soil in four years. New York’s Jacob Bohn has won his last two in a row over veterans Kenny Foster (12-13) and Lewis Corapi (8-4) respectivement.

 

 

 

Ras Hylton is coming off a highlight-reel elbow knockout of Eric Bedard (6-8) Août dernier. The 6’6″ resident of South Portland, known to fans as “Le Shamrock jamaïcain,” is a perfect 3-0 in the NEF cage where he also went 3-0 en tant qu'amateur. Yorgan De Castro is undefeated as a professional, having finished both of his opponents by technical knockout. The bout will be the first in the newly-created NEF 225-pound cruiserweight division which will fall between the light-heavyweight (205-livre) et des poids lourds (265-livre) classes.

 

 

 

Also on the professional card will be a flyweight contest between Portland fan-favorite Ernesto Ornelas (4-7) and undefeated Massachusetts prospect Jose Lugo (3-0). Ornelas is riding a two-fight win streak while Lugo, surnommé “El Salvaje,” has finished all three of his opponents.

 

Matt Probin (2-0) is scheduled to make his long-awaited debut with NEF when he meets veteran Lionel Young (7-15) à un concours plume. Probin has won back-to-back bouts in Vermont via knockout to start his professional career.

 

 

 

As of press time, NEF was still searching for a replacement opponent for Carl Langston (0-1) in a professional featherweight bout after several previous opponents had pulled out. Mat “The Pugilist” Probin (2-0) va prendre Lionel “Boogz” Jeune (7-15) à un poids de combat de 145 livres-.

Despite several previous attempts that fell out due to injury, Blackpool, England-native and current Maine resident Matt Probin has yet to compete on an NEF card. Probin has fought all over the world in numerous combat sports disciplines, including competing in Muay Thai in Thailand and boxing in Boston, Massachusetts. In recent months, he has scored back-to-back first-round knockout wins in Vermont MMA bouts. Probin currently trains with Recon Fitness in Westbrook, Maine.

“It’s about bloody time,” exclaimed Probin when reached for comment. “It’s been a long journey with many hurdles to get me on an NEF card. But it’s here, it’s happening, and I’m pumped about it to finally be fighting in my own back yard. I’m glad family, amis, fans and sponsors will finally be able to watch me fight live, and this is going to be a great fight and match up. I’m fighting a crafty vet who has fought the top talent in New England. And this will be no different. I respect his game, but it’s my time. I feel unstoppable at the moment with Team Recon behind me. I’m coming prepared. Ne le manquez pas!”

Lionel Young is a longtime veteran of the New England cage wars. He has just entered his tenth year as an MMA competitor. And while Young’s record might look like that of a journeyman, he has faced some of the top talent the region has to offer, including the likes of current 11th-ranked UFC bantamweight Rob Font (15-4). Like Probin, Young has spent his fair share of time as a professional in the boxing ring – a veteran of seven bouts. Hailing from the fighting city of Brockton, Massachusetts – home of legendary boxing world champions Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler – Young currently trains with Redline Fight Sports in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE: Portland, Maine (Novembre 3, 2017) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) a fait ses débuts tant attendus à Portland, Maine Samedi nuit devant une foule à guichets fermés à Aura.

Dans l'événement principal de la soirée, favori de la ville natale Paul Gorman (11-9) a pris James Blair (5-2) dans un concours de poids de 130 livres. La foule était au bord de son siège collectif pour une guerre à trois tours passionnante qui sera définitivement “combat de l'année” candidat pour 2017. Gorman a retiré la décision unanime sur les juges’ tableaux de bord.

Le John toujours populaire “Première classe” Rayon (3-8) retourné dans la cage du NEF après une retraite de trois ans. Rayon a fait face à un jeu Zenon Herrera (0-6) et est sorti avec la victoire au troisième tour quand Herrera a tiré sur un étranglement à guillotine.

Sur le côté amateur de la carte, trois nouveaux champions ont été couronnés. Terrance Jean-Jacques (3-0) est devenu le nouveau champion poids lourd amateur du NEF avec une victoire unanime sur le champion en titre Nick Gulliver (4-1). Justin Witham (4-4) est le nouveau tenant du titre des poids mouches après avoir battu Nate Boucher (2-1) par décision partagée. Hilarie Rose (5-3) est entrée dans l'histoire en tant que première championne féminine de l'histoire de la promotion en remportant le titre de champion de paille contre Alex Walker (4-2).

Jayda Bailey a fixé deux jalons tôt dans la nuit (1-0) est devenu le plus jeune combattant à sortir victorieux de la cage du NEF, tandis que Garry Carr (1-0) a pris l'honneur du plus ancien combattant à avoir jamais gagné dans la cage du NEF. Portland, Maine (Octobre 6, 2017) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) will make its long-awaited debut in Portland on Vendredi, Novembre 3, 2017 at Aura with “NEF 31: The Old Port.” Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the fight promotion announced the full fight card for the event featuring a full slate of professional and amateur mixed-martial-arts bouts.

Maine fan-favorite Paul Gorman (10-9) est prévue pour le Jacques “The Flyin’ Hawaiian” Blair (5-1) in the main event of the evening. Gorman, the former NEF bantamweight titleholder and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt out of the Academy in Portland, makes his return to the NEF cage after a three-year absence. Blair is a hot prospect from the world-renowned American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida where he trains alongside a veritable murderers’ row of current and former world champions like Mike Brown (26-9), Tyron Woodley (18-3-1), and Joanna Jędrzejczyk (14-0) Juste pour en nommer quelques-uns.

Reigning NEF Professional Middleweight Champion CJ Aiguière (3-0) will be in action when he takes on Crowsneck Boutin (2-3) in a non-title affair. Jean “Première classe” Rayon (2-8) will come out of retirement to face Zenon “K-Bar” Herrera (0-5). Raio last fought in the summer of 2015. He is the head coach of First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine. Herrera, a veteran of both the United States Army and Marine Corps, is looking for his first win since joining the professional ranks two years ago.

The amateur side of the card will feature a total of three title fights. NEF Amateur Heavyweight Champion Entaille “The Guardian” Gulliver (4-0) will defend his strap against WWE signeeTerrance Jean-Jacques (2-0), tandis que Nate Boucher (2-0) et Justin Witham (3-4) square off for the vacant flyweight title. Alex Walker (4-1) et Hilarie Rose (4-3) will make history when they battle for the first-ever NEF women’s championship in the strawweight division.

The Walker-Rose fight will be one of four female bouts featured on the “NEF 31” amateur card. PARKER AND PROBIN TO GO HEAD-TO-HEAD AT NEF 31 À PORTLAND

Josh Parker (6-9) se réunira “The Blackpool Ripper” Matt Probin (0-0) dans un match poids plume.

Josh Parker is the founder and head coach of Ruthless MMA & Boxe. A two-sport athlete, Parker has split his professional career between the MMA cage and the boxing ring. He has won two of his last three fights for NEF, most recently dominating Andre Belcarris (0-2) for three rounds on his way to a unanimous decision victory in June. Parker will look to continue his winning ways when he meets Probin on 3 novembre.

“I want to thank NEF for making this fight,” said Parker when reached for comment. “I’m excited to get back in there. We recently expanded Ruthless and moved to a new location. Our team keeps growing and they are pushing me every day. I look forward to putting on a show on 3 novembre.”

Originally from Blackpool, England and now a Maine resident, Matt Probin divides his training between Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Young’s MMA. Probin went 6-2 over the course of his amateur MMA career. While Probin has not competed in MMA in more than three years, he has been active as a professional boxer and kickboxer in recent years. En 2016, Probin had a stint training Muay Thai in Thailand where he competed at the world famous Bangla Boxing Stadium – one of Thailand’s most venerated fight venues.

Probin, a well known boxer, kickboxer and mixed-martial-artist, came to Maine and began training in the Pine Tree State in 2015. A native of Blackpool, Angleterre, Probin had spent time training in North Carolina prior to arriving in Maine. He put together a 6-2 record as an amateur MMA competitor and won a regional title in the Carolinas. While he has not competed in MMA since moving to Maine, Probin has stayed active competing in other combat sports. Il est 2-2 comme un boxeur professionnel, and he has also spent time training Muay Thai in Thailand in recent years. Probin even competed at the world famous Bangla Boxing Stadium – one of Thailand’s premier Muay Thai venues.
