Promoter Greg Cohen of Greg Cohen Promotions says he could not be happier with the performance turned in last Friday night by the fighter he co-promotes (with Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions), undefeated heavyweight slugger Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller.
Miller, now 16-0-1, 14 KOs, showed both his frightening power and excellent boxing skills while scoring a brutal TKO 7 over an extremely game Donovan Dennis. Fighting in the co-main event of a nationally televised ShoBox: The New Generation from the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona, Miller made believers out of many by displaying depth and ring intelligence to go with his sledgehammer fists.
“Jarrell showed he’s not just a big puncher,” said Greg Cohen. “He showed the ability to change up his game plan during a fight. That’s very important at the higher levels of the division. He nearly took Dennis’ head off in the first round, but when he saw that somehow he was going to survive for a while, he switched up to boxing and re-established his dominance that way. It was exactly what he should have done in there.”
Miller, who won the NABA Heavyweight Championship with the victory, is now in line for an even higher-profile showdown with a rated contender.
“Jarrell is a force to be reckoned with and with his power, skill, athleticism and charisma, he can become a worldwide star and be the man to restore the heavyweight division to its glory of yesteryear,” continued Cohen. “People love him and can’t enough of him!”
Cohen says that even though Miller called out the champions of the division after the victory, the probable next step will be a top-ten fighter in one of the sanctioning organizations.
“We believe he can beat any of the champions right now, today. But to get him there we will have to next focus on someone rated above him and take their spot by force. But I have every confidence we are less than a year away from getting Jarrell the world title shot he wants more than anything.”

New Heavyweight Champ Charles Martin Says: ‘My Time to Shine Will Come!’

Brand new IBF Heavyweight Champion “Prince” Charles Martin (23-0-1, 21 KOs) should be on cloud nine.
In just his seventh year of boxing and slightly over third as a professional, Martin already finds himself the sixth southpaw to have ever won a heavyweight championship after scoring a TKO 3 over Ukrainian top contender Vyacheslav Glazkov last Saturday night, January 16, at the Barclay’s Center in New York.
Winning any world title is an amazing accomplishment that most never reach in decades of boxing. Add in that Martin took out the 2008 Olympic Super Heavyweight bronze medalist to become the second current American heavyweight champion in a suddenly rejuvenated division.
“It feels good,” admits Martin. “I wanted to do it fast. I couldn’t wait,” he explains of his quick ascension. “Some things they say take time but when you’re really determined to do something, you’ll do it as soon as possible.”
With his place already assured in the boxing history books and several lucrative possible showdowns on the near horizon, why isn’t Martin the happiest man on the planet?
It was the way he won.
“I have an empty feeling right now,” said the 29-year-old champion. “I was in front of so many people and it was my time to shine on Showtime and show the world my skills. I felt that he had no power and said to myself that he would be easy work. I knew I was going to have a great night. I was going to KO him and then everyone would love me… but it didn’t happen like that.”
Glazkov stopped fighting in round three due to torn ACL in his knee and Martin was declared the winner of the then-vacant title by way of injury-induced TKO.
“I wanted to win the belt my way,” continued the disappointed Martin. “He would have got knocked out eventually. It was coming to him. I never even got to use my uppercut on him, but it’s all good.”
Humble and extremely likeable, Martin remained polite, post-fight and expressed his condolences to the disappointed Glazkov. However, since that night, Glazkov has gone on to say he had “figured Martin out” and that the championship would have certainly been his had he not been injured.
“Oh my goodness, I’m trying to stay humble about the situation, but that’s so crazy what he said,” said Martin. “If he really thinks that, he’s tripping. Things were about to get a lot worse for him. I promise you, once he started slowing down, my combinations would have started to come out. I was throwing the one/two because he was getting out of the way pretty good in the first few rounds. I was just getting started. I thought I would box him for a while and then start going at him and whip his butt. I promise you I could have. That injury saved him. It broke my heart that I didn’t get to do what I wanted. How does that happen? I was having fun.”
Martin says his team and friends and relatives have been good to remind him the abbreviated ending was out of his control. He also says he’ll take a quick vacation and then get right back to work.
So what comes next for the new American heavyweight champion?
“Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder. I want them both. I want all the best. That’s the next move. My time to shine will come. I’m a world champion now and I can say that the belt is in the right hands. I’m not going to sit around. I want to fight.”
Martin also says that is Britain’s world champ, Tyson Fury, ever points his taunting antics at him, he won’t mind.
“It’s good for boxing for him to do that kind of stuff. I like that. It’s all business. At the end of the day he has no crazy beef with anybody. Nobody choked anybody’s mother. It’s just boxing. You got to get attention somehow. He makes people want to see a fight. We’re in the entertainment and hurt business. It’s definitely a real fight in the ring though. It’s a non-personal thing that very gets personal once they step in the ring with me. That’s two guys’ livelihood in there. That’s our income for our families.”

LAS VEGAS (December 7, 2015) – WBC Latino and FECARBOX heavyweight champion, Bronco Billy Wright (49-4, 38 KOs), is willing and able to step up and challenge Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) for his world title.  Currently rated #20 by the WBC, Bronco Billy Wright is currently riding a 20-fight winning streak with 17 of those victories coming by way of knockout.
If Wilder, who is currently looking for an opponent for his scheduled January 16, 2016date, were to take this fight, he would be facing a game opponent in Wright, who hasn’t lost a fight since 1998.  With 31 first round knockouts to his credit, Billy feels he has what it takes to dethrone Wilder.

RIZIN FF Announces Tournament Brackets, Matchups for Eight-Man Heavyweight Tournament on December 29 and 31

Fighters comment on the highly-anticipated tournament that will award its winner a $300,000 grand prize

TOKYO, JAPAN (Nov. 30, 2015) –A drawing to determine the tournament brackets and first stage matchups for the RIZIN FIGHTING GRAND-PRIX 2015 eight-man, heavyweight tournament that will take place over the course of two days – December 29 and December 31 – and will award its winner a grand prize of $300,000, was held today in Tokyo.

BAMMA Heavyweight Champion Mark Godbeer, who had been scheduled to compete in the tournament, was forced to withdraw due to a neck injury sustained in training. BAMMA will announce a replacement fighter for the tournament soon.

Prior to the drawing, Chairman Nobuyuki Sakakibara stated, “This tournament will be the highlight of RIZIN. Fighters from around the world who are proud to represent their promotion and country, and are eager to use this platform to boost their career to make a name for themselves have gathered in the tournament. The majority of the media who gathered today may not know much about these athletes, but when K-1 first kicked off in 1993, nobody knew about Branko Cikatić or Mike Bernardo. The fighters who open up the new doors are those who exceed their expectations.”

The seven contestants slated for tournament action appeared at the press conference.  Each drew an envelope  numbered one through seven, and those who drew numbers one through four received the opportunity to choose their respective places in the tournament draw.

The first stage tournament matchups will be as follows:

Bout # 1: Lawal vs BAMMA fighter
Bout # 2: Aukstuolis vs Cappelozza,
Bout # 3  Ishii vs Prochazka,
Bout # 4: Reljic vs Nemkov.

A tournament reserve bout between Valentine Moldovsky and Yuta Uchida was also announced during the press conference.

Trey Lippe-Morrison Annihilates Bobby Thomas in 90 seconds!

Miami, OK (November 14, 2015) – Rising heavyweight sensation Trey Lippe-Morrison of Tulsa, OK continued his march towards becoming a player in the heavyweight division by scoring a devastating 80 second knockout of Bobby Thomas at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, OK.
Fighting in front of a sold out crowd and with legendary trainer Freddie Roach in his corner, Lippe-Morrison was a man on a mission from the opening bell. With his fans cheering him on in hope of another knockout, Lippe-Morrison connected with a hard right hook to Thomas’ head just over a minute into the opening stanza, sending Thomas to the canvas. The referee started to count before realizing Thomas was in no position to continue, waiving the bout off at 1:20.
“I love working with Freddie Roach because he’s getting me polished,” Lippe-Morrison said after the dominant performance. “I didn’t have an amateur career so he’s really helping me with the learning curve.”
Lippe-Morrison, who is now 10-0 with all of his wins by knockout, is pleased with his performance but insists he isn’t hunting for knockouts.
“Believe it or not, I’m not gunning for quick knockouts but they’re coming and I’m happy to please the fans. I’m continuing to improve as a boxer under Freddie’s watch and will consult with my team about the next step.”
Tony Holden, promoter of Lippe-Morrison, believes his fighter is on the path to stardom.
“Trey looked like a future champion and he fought with incredible confidence. Antonio Tarver refutes failed drug test

TAMPA (Oct. 19, 2015) – Five-time world champion Antonio “Magic Man” Tarver (31-6-1, 22 KOs) vehemently refutes the results of his failed New Jersey Boxing Commission drug test taken prior to his 12-round draw with two-time IBF championSteve “USS” Cunningham this past August 14th in Newark.
A report claims Tarver tested positive for synthetic testosterone.  He categorically denies taking any banned substance before his fight with Cunningham.  “I have no idea how my urine sample tested positive because I didn’t take anything illegal,” Tarver said.  “Either the test was contaminated, or mixed-up with another sample.  We believe in the process and I will fully comply.  Further analysis will prove I’m 100-percent innocent because I’ve done nothing wrong.”

Travis Kauffman returns with 1st round destruction over Carmack

Reading, PA (August 18, 2015)–Last Friday night at the Prudential Center inNewark, New Jersey, Heavyweight contender Travis Kauffman (29-1, 21 KO’s) scored a first round stoppage over Richard Carmack in Kauffman’s first fight in 19 months.

Kauffman landed a perfect right hook from the southpaw stance that sent Carmack down at 2:07.

The bout took place on a card that was headlined by a fight between former world champions Antonio Tarver and Steve Cunningham that ended in a draw.

“I didn’t think Carmack would hit as hard as he did.  I went out there with the mindset of going some rounds to work off ring rust.  As soon as he hit me with a right hand, I knew that he was strong and wanted to get him out quick.  The gameplan that we worked on was to go to the body and once I dropped him, I knew he was done,” said Kauffman.

Kauffman is due back on September 18 at the Claridge in Atlantic City.

“I wasted no time and am already back in the gym with Naazim Richardson and my dad and I am ready to move forward with bigger fights.  I expect this fight to be another tune up and then I will be ready for a much bigger fight.”

NEWARK, NJ (August 15, 2015) – Heavyweights Antonio “Magic Man” Tarver (31-6, 22 KOs) and Steve “U.S.S.” Cunningham (28-7, 13 KOs) fought to a split decision draw in the main event of tonight’s Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Spike at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Both Tarver and Cunningham fought at a consistent pace throughout the bout, exchanging punches evenly in the early rounds. Tarver caught Cunningham in the fourth round with a sneaky right cross that wobbled the younger fighter who quickly regained his composure and finished out the round.  The back and forth action, which left Cunningham bruised and swollen around the eyes, lead to the draw with judges scores of 115-113 Cunningham, 115-114 Tarver and 114-114.
In the opening bout of the telecast, Poland’s Krzystof Glowacki (24-0, 15 KOs) scored an 11th round technical knockout victory over Germany’s Marco Huck (38-2-1, 26 KOs) in a huge upset that saw Glowacki capture Huck’s cruiserweight title. Huck was hoping to set a new record for most cruiserweight title defenses with a 14th successful defense tonight. Both fighters were making their US debut in front of a crowd of 5,843, many of which were their Polish and German countrymen living stateside.
In the give and take cruiserweight bout, Glowacki came out strong in the early rounds beating Huck with his power and speed on the inside. Huck started to find his rhythm in the middle rounds and out of nowhere put Glowacki on the canvas in the sixth with a punishing left hook to the temple.  Glowacki recovered quickly and was able to finish the round. Both men stayed busy for the remainder of the later rounds with the judges heeding favor to Huck by the end of the 10th. However, Glowacki came out in the 11th and late in the round put Huck on the canvas with a hard left right combination. Huck beat the count only to have Glowacki jump on him immediately, throwing a series of punches that forced the referee to stop the fight at 2:39 in the round.  Glowacki shocked the boxing world with a devastating 11th technical knockout of the 8-1 favored Huck in what will surely be a fight considered for upset of the year.

“I knew they weren’t educated on my defense and ring generalship. I threw the harder punches and wasn’t tired. I controlled the tempo, kept my jab busy and feel like I outboxed him too.
