LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 21, 2017) – The preliminary round of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship concluded last night with 11 exciting Central New England (Greater Lowell) men’s novice matches at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
De kwartfinale zal worden gehouden aankomende donderdag nacht (Jan. 26) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium with men’s and women’s novice and open class matches. See complete 2017 lijst van evenementen zowel onder als gisteravond volledige resultaten.
“We had our second straight awesome show,” Uitvoerend directeur van New England Golden Gloves Bobby Russo zei. “There was another great crowd of enthusiastic fans who loved the non-stop action. We switch to Donderdag night for this coming week’s quarterfinal round and continue every Donderdag night through February until we go Woensdag en Donderdag (Zee. 1 & 2) for the semifinals and final (open class) of the New England Tournament of Champions.”

LOWELL, Massa. (Januari 9, 2017) – The 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship kicks-off deze vrijdag nacht (Jan. 13) featuring Central New England (Greater Lowell) preliminary-round action at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Zie de volledige 2017 schedule below.
Vorig jaar, Peter Welch's Gym (South Boston) dominated the Central New England tournament, capturing seven individual titles, followed in team scoring by the Lowell West End Gym and Grealish Boxing (Dorchester).
One of the boxers to watch this year is North Chelmsford’s Brandon Higgins, who represents the Lowell West End Gym.

GH3 Promotions signs undefeated Welterweight Kenneth Sims Jr.

Nutley, NJ (Augustus 22, 2016) – GH3 Promotions is proud to announce the signing of undefeated junior welterweight prospect, Kenneth Sims Jr. to promotional contract.

GH3 Promotions will co-promote Sims with Antonio Leonard Productions.
Sims of Chicago is perfect as a professional, as he sports a record of 7-0 met twee knockouts.
Sims was a highly acclaimed amateur, who amassed over 200 fights who became a 2-time National PAL Champion, Sims Jr. was also the 2013 USA National Champion, a Silver Gloves Champion, a Junior Olympic Bronze Medalist, a 3-time Ringside World Champion and a 2012 Olympic Trials Semifinalist.
Sims turned professional on March 7, 2014 with a win over Corey Mudrew and has racked up six wins since, with the latest being a six -round unanimous decision over Tavorus Teague on March 11, 2016 in Tustin, Californië.
Sims will be back in action on September 15th as part of the televised undercard that will feature Thomas LaManna and Dusty Hernandez-Harrison from Philadelphia on the CBS Sports Network.
“This is another key signing for us,”zei CEO van GH3 Promotions, Vito Mielnicki. “Kenneth is another young and talented fighter who fits in with the blueprint we have set up for our athletes. Jong, good amateur career and guys who are looking to fight often and are willing to step up. I am happy to be partnering with Antonio Leonard Productions and working with Kenneth’s manager James Prince and I will be looking to work with them more in the future with other fighters.”
“I am excited to be back boxing and getting back to work,” said Sims. “I am looking forward to being on television. This fight will get me the exposure and people who will know me.”
Like other GH3 Promotions fighters, look for Sims to be fighting regularly. That is a schedule that Sims will relish.
“I am looking forward to staying busy. I had only two fights last year and staying busy will help me make my way up the ladder to winning championships.”
Op slechts 22 jaar oud, Sims has a good attitude and wants carve out an identity, not only in the boxing world, but be known in his hometown.

Sims is known for his boxing ability, who likes to work the body.
“It has been seven months since I fought and I am ready to put on a show. Philly is a great fight town and I am so excited to fight there.”

Sims co-promoter Antonio Leonard has been by his side since he turned professional and had his eye on an emerging talent since his amateur days.
“I have always felt that Kenneth was a tremendous fighter. He has been in Colorado Springs helping with the U.S. Olympisch team. The sparring sessions with him and (2016 Silver Medal winner) Shakur Stevenson were amazing.”
“He has the potential to be a great star. He is a grounded kid and with the help of Vito Mielnicki and GH3 Promotions, there is a good chance he could fight for a world title.”
Sims has been the main sparring partner at different times for the sport’s two biggest names and has performed well and gained incredible experience by working with Floyd Mayweather as he prepared for Andre Berto and with Manny Pacquiao as he was getting ready for Mayweather.
Sims’ talent was recognized in a big way in those camps.
“We are very excited to be with Vito and GH3 Promotions,” said Sims uncle and adviser Ed Burns. “Vito is committed to take Kenneth to the next level. With continued hard work and commitment, we all believe that he will be a world champion. That was echoed by Freddie Roach after Kenneth sparred with Pacquiao for a month.”

Sims is managed by James Prince.

Del Valle excited for Tri State Area return

Bayamon, Puerto Rico (Juli 20, 2016) – As a teenager, Luis “Orlandito” Del Valle left his native Puerto Rico for Newburgh, NY where he resided for seven years. During his time in the Empire State amateur ranks, he made great strides in the ring and won multiple highly-competitive tournaments, most notably capturing the 2004 National Golden Gloves title.

As a pro, Del Valle had his first fight in New Jersey, hoisted the WBA-NABA championship in New York and Connecticut was the state that hosted his first appearance on HBO. Globaal, half of his 24 professional fights took place in the tri state area and the bilingual Del Valle built a solid fan following. Echter, he hasn’t fought in the area since 2012.

Op Augustus 27, that will change when Del Valle battles an opponent to be announced in a ten round super bantamweight bout at the Bayonne Pavilion in Bayonne, New Jersey.

“I love fighting in the tri state area,"Said Del Valle, the owner of an excellent 22-2 professional record with 16 knockouts and a #12 ranking by the International Boxing Federation. “I had a lot of great moments when I lived in New York and miss the local crowds. The support was great and there is a very large Puerto Rican population in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. I’ve still got a lot of fans in the area and they always ask me when I’m fighting locally again. Due to some of the changes in my career, I wasn’t sure until this incredible opportunity came up. I’d like to thank Roc Nation and LGM Promotions for making this happen. I’m hoping to fight for a world title in the near future and defend it in the tri state area.”

Helaas, enkele opvallende atleten geloven dat hun talenten voorrang op het uitvoeren van in de klas. Dit heeft geleid tot een hoge scholen en universiteiten een waarschuwing of schorsing van spelers als hun kwaliteiten niet verbeterd.
Integendeel, er zijn mensen die grote trots nemen in de hoofdrol als een atleet en student; zoals de 17-jarige Joey Veazey.
Bekend onder zijn bijnaam van “Bazooka Joe” Veazey is multi-time amateur-kampioen en werd internationaal gerangschikt. Op donderdagavond, Veazey vecht Chris Perkins voor de East Coast junior middengewicht kampioenschap op Michael's Achtste Ave in Glen Burnie, MD als een gekenmerkte vechter op een kaart gepromoot door Baltimore Boxing.

LOWELL, Massa. (Februari 26, 2016) – Western New England dominated the open class finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, winning seven of 10 matches last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The eight men’s individual open class winners earned spots on Team New England for the 2016 Nationale Golden Gloves Kampioenschappen, Mei 16-21, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Team New England includes two of the top ranked boxers in the country, licht zwaargewicht Elvis Figueroa and light welterweight Jaime Ortiz Rodriguez (repeat NE champion), both members of N.E. open class team champion from Western NE. Burlington, MA featherweight Amanda Pavone captured her sixth NE. titel.
“In the last 10 jaar,” explained New England Golden Gloves Executive Director Bobby Russo, “we hadn’t been on a good run. Attendance dropped off a little each year. Last year’s horrible weather killed us. Dit jaar, hoewel, the excitement was back and attendance was up 30-percent. There was a younger crowd and many novice boxers had good fan bases, which we need to build up every year. We had a lot of good fights and good boxers this year. Boxing is back in Lowell! We had a great season.
“Team New England will be very strong. We have a young team but many of these boxers have a lot of invaluable experience from Junior Olympics competition, from heavyweight on down. I think we have an impressive team that will do very well at The Nationals this year.”
Team champions were Western N.E. in the open class, Central N.E. in the novice class.

The semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions, as well as three final matches in the N.E. novice division, were held last night in Lowell. See complete results below as well as the bout sheet for vanavond.
At stake this evening are spots on Team New England for the 2016 Nationale Golden Gloves Kampioenschappen, Mei 16-21, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Winners in each open weight class will qualify.

SECOND PRO BOXING BOUT ANNOUNCED FOR NEF 22

Lewiston, Maine (Februari 25, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerika's nummer een regionale strijd promotie, zal zijn volgende evenement te houden, “NEF 22: Alle wegen leiden HIER” op Zaterdag, April 23, 2016bij de Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. De strijd kaart zal een mix van mixed-martial-arts voorzien (MMA) en professioneel boksen vlagen. Eerder vandaag, NEF announced the addition of a light-heavyweight contest to the boxing portion of the “NEF 22” strijd kaart. Crowsneck Boutin (0-0-1) is gepland te staan Brandon Montella (3-0, 2 KO) in een vier-ronde Bout.

 

Crowsneck Boutin, a regular on NEF MMA cards since 2012, made his professional boxing debut earlier this month on the “NEF 21” event in Lewiston. He fought Joel Bishop (0-0-2) to a draw in an exciting slugfest that had the Colisée crowd on the edge of its collective seat. Boutin, considered the underdog in that bout, expertly worked his jab to control the first two rounds of the fight. Like the Bishop match, Boutin is preparing for another war with Montella on April 23.

 

“Brandon is a very tough opponent,” zei Boutin. “He’s going to present me with many obstacles. My training is grueling and I’ll be prepared for a war.”

 

Brandon Montella is a 1998 graduate of Carrabec High School in North Anson, Maine. Following graduation, Montella joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and served until 2003 with an honorable discharge. Montella worked in construction in Virginia until 2011 when he moved with his wife to the Boston, Massachusetts area. He owns and operates The Way, LLC boxing gym in Woburn, Massachusetts.

 

“Coming back home from to Maine after all these years to fight in a place of such history is an amazing feeling,” said Montella. “It will bring my friends and family from the past and the present together under one roof for an awesome event.”

 

Montella had a very successful amateur boxing career with a final record of 14-7. In 2011, he won the prestigious Rocky Marciano Tournament. Montella went on to win the New England Golden Gloves the following year. Hij draaide zich pro in 2015 and has won his first three bouts with two finishes.

 

“As far as my opponent Crowsneck Boutin, I have seen his fights and read his back story,” Montella continued. “What I see is a man like myself – someone who is determined to change his life and take matters into his own hands instead of sitting around like too many men do today.
