JR FLYWEIGHT OSCAR VASQUEZ PITCHES SHUTOUT IN LAS VEGAS

MARCH 17th, RENO — Reno’s Jr. Flyweight prospect Oscar Vasquez improves to 8-1 by decisioning Mexico’s Cesar Sustaita (3-2, 3 KOS) in a six-round bout Saturday in Las Vegas.

In an action packed, toe-to-toe clash, Sustaita matched Vasquez’s aggression throughout the fight with Oscar landing the cleaner punches.  In a heated exchange in the sixth round, a left hook floored Sustaita, but he recovered and fought to the final bell.

“I knew he was strong and had power.”  Says Vasquez.  “So I set him up for every big punch by going to the body.  I took him to the late rounds, going for the knockout.

“I want to thank everyone who made the trip to Vegas from Reno and Southern California to support me in this fight.”

All three judges scored the fight 60-53.  The evening of world-class boxing was the third installment of the regular series “Showdown at Sam’s Town” presented by Pochiro Promotions and RHP.
