Victory Sport & Entertainment signs former world champion Jose Pedraza to managerial contract

New York, N. Y.. (Octobre 30, 2017)–Victory Sport & Entertainment is pleased to announce the signing of former IBF World Junior Lightweight Champion Jose Pedraza to a multi-year managerial contract.

Pedraza of Cidra, Puerto Rico a un dossier de 22-1 avec 12 KO. Pedraza says, “I am very happy to sign with Victory Sports and look forward to the next chapter of my career. They represent a number of up and coming fighters and also work with elite fighters like Badou Jack so I feel that Victory is the right team to lead me back to a world championship.”

An Olympian in 2008, Pedraza also won medals in numerous international competitions including silver in the 2009 World Amateur Championships in Milan and gold at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. I think the Lightweight division is where I will make my mark and am excited to get back in the ring.”

President of Victory Sports Rick Torres feels that Pedraza is ready to make a statement at Lightweight, “Jose Pedraza is bar none the best fighter in Puerto Rico and we are extremely proud to welcome him to the Victory Sports family. We feel that Jose can be a force at Lightweight. There are a number of attractive fights in the division, from Jorge Linares to Mickey Garcia, all of which would make great fights for boxing fans.”

“Jose is a tremendous fighter who, at twenty-eight, is still in his physical prime,” explained Victory Sports COO Mike Leanardi. “We are looking to get him back in the ring as soon as possible. Puis, after a tune-up fight or two, there is no reason Jose won’t be ready to take on the best in the world,” Leanardi continued.

Pedraza joins Victory’s growing stable of fighters including undefeated world ranked contenders Sonny Fredrickson and Tyler McCreary.

Baltimore Boxing honorera Crystal Beard et augmentera la sensibilisation au cancer en novembre 17

Crystal Beard est décédé en octobre 28 à l'âge de 37. Elle laisse derrière elle deux enfants et un petit-fils.
Baltimore, MD (Octobre 30, 2017) – Les promotions de boxe Baltimore de Jake Smith sont de retour à Michael’s Eighth AvenueVendredi, Novembre 17 pour "Who's The Next Shining Star" mais cette soirée est bien plus que ce qui se passera sur le ring lors des matchs de boxe de style olympique.
Smith a récemment été contacté pour aider Crystal Beard, un natif de la région de Baltimore aux prises avec des stades avancés du cancer. La barbe a été diagnostiquée en août 2016 avec un cancer du sein triple négatif, qui est extrêmement agressif. Malheureusement, le cancer s'est propagé dans tout son corps. Beard a subi au total six traitements de chimiothérapie et a subi une double mastectomie en février 2017. Forgeron, qui se fait une priorité d'accompagner les individus et les organisations à travers ses cartes de combat, a immédiatement accepté d'aider Beard.
Malheureusement, Barbe est décédée samedi, Octobre 28 à l'âge de 37. Elle laisse derrière elle un 17 fille d'un an, fils de sept ans et petit-fils de trois mois. Beard n'avait pas d'assurance-vie et le père de ses enfants vit en Arizona. Ses enfants et petits-enfants seront pris en charge par la sœur et la mère de Beard.
Les factures médicales arrivent toujours et la fille de Beard, un lycéen, espère aller à l'université. La famille devra désormais jongler avec les factures médicales de Crystal et s'occuper de trois enfants en plus de leurs responsabilités quotidiennes habituelles..
La nuit de combat, il y aura un 50/50 tombola, encan silencieux et offrez à la famille des billets en bloc qui pourront être revendus. Smith élabore actuellement un certain nombre d'autres plans pour collecter des fonds supplémentaires pour la famille de Beard.

WINCHESTER, Masse. (Octobre 29, 2017) – “Nuit de combat collégiale”, présenté par la National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) en association avec USA Boxing, Samedi nuit (7 p.m. ET Démarrer), Novembre 11, sera un retour aux sources pour une paire de boxeurs des cadets de West Point ayant des liens étroits avec la ville de Winchester (MA), Luca LoConte Botis et Jack Ward.
Dix combats amateurs sont au rendez-vous à l'auditorium Maurer de l'hôtel de ville de Winchester (sur Mt. Vernon St.) alors que les cadets de l'Académie militaire des États-Unis à West Point sont confrontés à une équipe d'étoiles de la Nouvelle-Angleterre composée de boxeurs de l'Académie de la Garde côtière (New London, CT), Université du Massachusetts, Université du Connecticut, Trinity College et Harvard University.
West Point a besoin de tous ses cadets, mâle et femelle, prendre 19 leçons de boxe et que, combiné avec le formidable succès du programme en compétition au fil des ans, se traduit par son nombre relativement élevé de boxeurs (40) dans une équipe de boxe universitaire. LoConte Botis et Ward, qui a près d'un 4.0 GPA, sont des étudiants de deuxième année qui aspirent à devenir officiers d'infanterie après avoir obtenu leur diplôme de West Point.
Luca a fréquenté l'école préparatoire de West Point pendant un an avant d'entrer à l'académie militaire de West Point. Un 2015 diplômé de Winchester High School, il a commencé la boxe très jeune, remportant les plus grands honneurs aux Jeux olympiques juniors de la Nouvelle-Angleterre, et il a développé ses compétences au Peter Welch's Gym à South Boston, ainsi qu'avec les frères Rivera au Somerville Boxing Club.

“Je deviens une meilleure version de moi-même, chaque jour, en montant sur le ring. La boxe fait des ravages sur le corps et l'esprit, mais, si j'ai une journée difficile sur le plan scolaire ou pendant l'entraînement militaire, Je reçois cette colère dans le gymnase. La boxe est une libération pour moi. Ça me rappelle pourquoi je suis ici. Ce que j'ai vaincu sur le ring, je peux faire autrement. Je prévois de concourir dans les Golden Gloves cette année et en tant qu'officier, Je conduirai des hommes et des femmes soldats.”
Ward a grandi à Hampton, New Hampshire, mais il a des racines à Winchester, qu'il considère comme sa deuxième maison. Jack a fréquenté l'école de Salisbury, dans le Connecticut, et il a été recruté comme footballeur. “I thought I’d be more relaxed in the ring like I had been in the gym,” Gonzaga said. “I did my best and came away with a victory. I was too safe in the third round. My punches were much strong and a lot of his punches I blocked with my gloves. This was really great! ce soir”

CARDIFF, PAYS DE GALLES (Octobre. 28, 2017) – Undefeated and Unified Heavyweight World Champion Anthony Joshua stopped IBF mandatory challenger Carlos Takam in the 10e tour Samedi night at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Pays de Galles, where the British sensation improved to 20 victoires, tous par KO, and retained both his IBF and WBA world title belts.

Joshua vs. Takam was contested before a record 78,000 les fans, the largest ever for an indoor boxing event and was the first of back-to-back heavyweight world title fights airing live on SHOWTIME. “I kept my composure,” said Joshua when asked about a head butt in the second round that may have broken the champion’s nose. “We will get my nose cracked back into place and then we can get back to training.”

When SKY Sports’ ringside reporter Andy Scott asked the beloved champion about a unification bout with fellow undefeated champion Wilder, Joshua a dit, “It has to happen. It has to happen for sure. When it comes down to it, l'IBF, IBO and WBA have mandatory challengers. I can’t just fight any Joe Blow I want. I have to fight the obligations as champion and once I fulfill those, my door is open to fight anyone, be it Wilder or anyone else.

“Everyone saw how hard it took to get the belts,” he continued. “I am not giving them up for anyone.”

When asked about fighting overseas in America or elsewhere, Joshua replied to the delight of the U.K. les fans, “As I said, it’s not my decision what happens outside the ring… but look at what boxing is doing. We are getting people coming in from all around the U.K. and from different countries. I think we should keep on boxing right here in the U.K.”

SAN ANTONIO, TX (Octobre 27, 2017) – sensation féminine invaincue, super-lightweight Selina “Reine aztèque” Quartiers (2-0, 1 KO), revient sur le ring Jeudi, Novembre 2, 2017 in Louisiana at The Rayne Civic Center. Barrios will face the highly touted Zarina Tsoloyeva (Pro Debut) from Zhaksy, Kazakhstan, in a 4-round bout in the super-lightweight division. La carte intitulée “RAYNE RISING” est présenté par Bad Chad’s Boxncar Promotions.
Quartiers, qui est originaire de San Antonio, TX, is the older sister of undefeated super-lightweight contender, Mario Barrios (20-0, 12 KOs). Comme un amateur, Selina had a remarkable record of (80-3), most of which came by stoppage. She has a notable win against USA Olympian and Top Rank fighter, Mikaela Mayer (2-0, 2 KOs), and vows to make a statement against Tsoloyeva.
“Even though Tsoloyeva is making her pro debut, she’s a big step up in competition,” Selina Barrios said. “She had a great amateur career and I know she’s going to be a tough opponent. All I know is I’m going to bring the heat, and show her why I’m the most dangerous fighter in women’s boxing.”
Selina Barrios is guided by longtime boxing manager, Kerry Daigle, who believes Barrios is one of the most exciting boxers he’s seen in years.
“Selina has that fighting style that every boxing fan loves,” said Kerry Daigle. “She’s nonstop action every time she steps in the ring. I haven’t seen a fighter like her in a long time, masculin ou féminin. She has that special something that you can’t explain but you know is extraordinary. She’s in a very competitive fight, against a very skilled fighter in Zarina Tsoloyeva. When I asked her if she was willing to fight such a decorated amateur fighter, she said yes, with no hesitation. Zarina Tsoloyeva, best known for her resemblance to actress Angelina Jolie, won a bronze medal in the Kazakh national championships. She’s a highly accomplished amateur champion with great boxing skills.

The referee for Samedi contest is Phil Edwards and the judges scoring ringside are Michael Alexander (Angleterre), Pawel Kardyni (Pologne) and Ron McNair (New York).

 

If Joshua’s previous 19 bouts are any indication, the judges might not be necessary.

 

“I’m not going to say I’m going to knock him out and smash him up and all these types of things,”A dit Joshua, who has knocked out all of his professional opponents en route to unifying the heavyweight division. “But that’s what I have to do.”

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, Canada (Octobre 26, 2017) – Fresh off his International Boxing Association (IBA) Inter-Continental title-winning performance, undefeated Canadian lightweight sensation Josh “Dubs” O’Reilly is ready to step up in class in terms of facing world-class opponents.
The 26-year-old O’Reilly (10-0, 4 KOs), who fights with the fury of his Irish heritage, a assommé son adversaire mexicain, Oscar “Elegante” Arjona (13-7, 5 KOs) in the fifth round of their October 21st fight at Hersey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, for the vacant IBA Inter-Continental championship.
