SANT ANTONI, TX (Octubre 27, 2017) – Undefeated female sensation, super-lightweight Selina “reina asteca” Barris (2-0, 1 KO), torna al ring Dijous, Novembre 2, 2017 in Louisiana at The Rayne Civic Center. Barrios will face the highly touted Zarina Tsoloyeva (Pro Debut) from Zhaksy, Kazakhstan, in a 4-round bout in the super-lightweight division. The card titled “RAYNE RISING” es presenta per Bad Chad’s Boxncar Promotions.
Barris, who hails from San Antonio, TX, is the older sister of undefeated super-lightweight contender, Mario Barris (20-0, 12 KOs). Com amateur, Selina had a remarkable record of (80-3), most of which came by stoppage. She has a notable win against USA Olympian and Top Rank fighter, Mikaela Mayer (2-0, 2 KOs), and vows to make a statement against Tsoloyeva.
“Even though Tsoloyeva is making her pro debut, she’s a big step up in competition,” Selina Barrios said. “She had a great amateur career and I know she’s going to be a tough opponent. All I know is I’m going to bring the heat, and show her why I’m the most dangerous fighter in women’s boxing.”
Selina Barrios is guided by longtime boxing manager, Kerry Daigle, who believes Barrios is one of the most exciting boxers he’s seen in years.
“Selina has that fighting style that every boxing fan loves,” said Kerry Daigle. “She’s nonstop action every time she steps in the ring. I haven’t seen a fighter like her in a long time, mascle o femella. She has that special something that you can’t explain but you know is extraordinary. She’s in a very competitive fight, against a very skilled fighter in Zarina Tsoloyeva. When I asked her if she was willing to fight such a decorated amateur fighter, she said yes, with no hesitation. Zarina Tsoloyeva, best known for her resemblance to actress Angelina Jolie, won a bronze medal in the Kazakh national championships. She’s a highly accomplished amateur champion with great boxing skills.

BELÉN, Pennsilvània. The fast-rising star Barrios of San Antonio started the bout throwing multiple combinations to the head and body of Nelson of Philadelphia. He kept his distance and stayed patient, but did not get to showcase all of the tools in his arsenal as the fight took a turn in the third round when Nelson went to the canvas after hurting his left shoulder by throwing a hook. That was ruled a slip and he dropped to his knees again after throwing another punch, but after being examined by the ringside doctor, it was determined that Nelson could continue.
Barrios was not deterred and continued to move forward, apply pressure and control the action into the fourth round. By the fifth, Nelson’s work rate dropped significantly, which Barrios took advantage of by battering the Philadelphia-native against the ropes. Throughout the sixth, Barrios stalked Nelson around the ring while Nelson tried to work through his apparent shoulder injury, countering with the right where he could. Al final, Barrios sent Nelson to the canvas with a hard left hand causing Referee Gary Rosato to wave off the bout at 1:41 de la setena ronda. The victory over Nelson marks Barrios’ fourth straight stoppage – all of which have taken place since he started working with renowned trainer Virgil Hunter.

The sixth and final round showcased hard-fought action from both pugilists with Jones throwing several hard lefts with Velasquez countering with his own flurries of shots finishing the fight strong. Al final, the judges ruled the bout even 59-55 for each and 57-57.
“I had to use the jab in this fight as well as my double-jab and body shots were working well,” va dir Velásquez. “This was a great learning fight and I felt that I won. I can’t wait to get back in the gym, apply what I learned and get back in the ring again soon.”
“This was a tough fight against an undefeated guy who came in confident,” va dir Jones. “I countered very well and I got to him. I feel that I won the fight, but sometimes the judges don’t see it that way.”
The opening bout saw light heavyweights Earl Newman (10-0-1, 7 KOs) de Brooklyn, NY and Paul Parker (8-2-1, 4 KOs) de Toledo, OH fight to an eight-round draw. Parker made it awkward for Newman in the first two rounds by starting out strong, moving forward, diving in and staying busy. On his recent training camp with Virgil Hunter in California…
“Ara, we are finishing up the final days to training camp. All the sparring is complete and I’m 100% healthy going into this fight. My weight is good and Virgil and I have been working harmoniously since he became my lead trainer a few fights back. This will be our fourth fight together and I’m learning a lot, especially with my jab. The improvement will be evident when I step into the ring on fight night.”
On facing Naim Nelson in his hometown…
“In this sport, sometimes you have to go into someone’s backyard, and battle them on their home turf. I know he’ll have a lot of his fans in attendance, but that has no effect on me and my game plan. “This is a big opportunity for me. I lost two split decisions [to Sergio Mora and Fernando Guerrero] and both could have gone either way. I had the only knockdowns in both fights, but I was on the ‘B’ side so you know how it’s going to go.

 

“El Paso is trying to become a fight town and we have a lot of good trainers, but we still have a ways to go.

 

“I injured my shoulder a few years ago and couldn’t use my right shoulder so I started fighting more southpaw. I’ve done a lot of mixed martial arts growing up, and it hasn’t been hard switching from that to boxing.

 

“J’Leon Love has one of the best teams in boxing in Mayweather Promotions. I have to throw punches in bunches.”

 

CALEB PLANTA

“I’m just going to go in there calm and relaxed as I always do and make adjustments as I need to. I could tell you everything I plan to do, or what could happen, but this this is boxing and everyone knows how it works. It depends on what’s going on inside the ring, and I will make adjustments.

 

“My opponent does different things and is very durable and comes to fight. We know he moves well and can do different things and be the aggressor. He has different dimensions. We’re not overlooking him.

A trio of shows presented by Premier Boxing Champions in September will give fans more opportunities to see young boxers on the rise in the sport.

The undercard will feature two more exciting matches in the super middleweight division. A tall fighter for his division at more than six feet, the 21-year-old Barrios picked up seven victories in a jam-packed 2015 in which he stopped five opponents inside the distance and followed it up in 2016 amb tres victòries més, including a 12-round decision over Devis Boschiero in July. The San Antonio native began his 2017 campaign with a stoppage victory over Yardley Suarez on the Keith Thurman vs. Danny Garcia undercard in Brooklyn in March and followed it up with a knockout victory over Jose Luis Rodriguez in June. Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Fulton defeated previously unbeaten Luis Rosario in April after a 2016 that saw him stop then unbeaten Adalberto Zorrilla and Cristian Renteria. The 23-year-old is unbeaten since turning pro in 2014 and will be looking to make it a perfect 12 guanya a 12 pro starts when he enters the ring on Setembre 19.
The 21-year-old Lopez has beaten fighters with a combined record of 13-0-1 in his last three fights including a victory in July over Paul Romero. Fighting out of Glendale, Qualif., Lopez has picked up four victories this year as he prepares for his toughest opponent to date and his first fight on the east coast.

LANCASTER, TAL COM. (Juny 12, 2017) – L'ex campió del món Brandon Rius (34-3-1, 24 KOs) va tornar al ring amb un nocaut tècnic de Mèxic a la setena ronda Aaron Herrera (23-7-1, 14 KOs) en l'esdeveniment principal de Lliga de Campions de Boxa a FS1 i FOX Esports Diumengenit des de The Pioneer Event Center a Lancaster, Califòrnia.
“He tingut aquesta bona sensació de nervis aquesta nit, com abans del meu debut professional,” va dir Rius. “Estava una mica nerviosa, però allà em sentia bé.”

“Sempre estic preparat per a qui em posen al davant,” va dir Rius. “Era dur i es balancejava fort. Vaig haver d'anar amb compte i no hi podia entrar boig. De vegades m'agafava, però això forma part de l'esport.”
El canvi no va durar gaire, ja que Rios va augmentar la pressió i va començar a frenar Herrera amb un major treball corporal.. Herrera va continuar lluitant, però va estar clarament cansat al final de la sisena ronda, quan Rios va jugar contra ell contra les cordes amb grans cops de puny..
“La propera vegada que hi entri estaré millor,” va dir Rius. “Veureu més progrés cada vegada que surti. Encara tinc el mateix estil, però hi afegeixo més atletisme i moviment del cap. Vaig sentir que m'havia anat bé allà dins.”

Borrego va mantenir l'atac i finalment va enviar Watts a la lona amb una altra mà esquerra als dos minuts de la ronda.. Mentre Watts tornava a posar-se dempeus, Borrego el va arraconar ràpidament i va fer una altra ràfega que va obligar l'àrbitre Jack Reiss a aturar el combat 2:42 a la ronda.

“Desafortunadament, in the last twelve months, I’ve had two opponents come in overweight when I was scheduled to fight on national television. I was ready to fight both times but my team advised me to cancel the bouts because the fighters were at least 10 pounds above the contracted weight. Jose Luis Rodriguez is a very tough fighter who went the distant with Felix Verdejo, who many people consider a top prospect. I just hope Rodriguez makes weight and the fight happens because I’m ready to shine.”

“I’m just ready to get back to the top. I know that I have to climb the ladder and that’s what I’m here for.
“When I said that I was done, I was done. Eventually though I started getting that urge again, to get on that stage and perform on TV. My wife told me that if I wanted to fight again, I had to come back dedicated.
“It’s really cool to be fighting right after the Mexico vs. USA match. I’m a Mexican-American but I live in the United States so it’ll be USA vs. Mexico in the ring as well when I face Herrera.
“I know that I have a very skilled, tough opponent. He’s working with Juan Manuel Marquez and he’s very experienced. He’s faced some really tough opponents. It’s going to be a good fight to get back in the ring with.
“I felt like I needed a new voice in my corner. There’s nothing against (former trainer) Robert García, I respect him and he got me to where I am today, but I felt like I got too used to that situation.
“I told (Rius’ entrenador) Ricky Funez that I wanted to come back and have him train me and thankfully he was excited to work with me. We started working really hard and we took some time to get to know each other more and more.
“I Googled ‘Southern California boxing trainers’ and Ten Goose Boxing and Ricky came up, and I decided to hit him up. So I direct messaged him on Instagram and the rest is history.
“I feel like I’m in really good shape after working with a nutritionist for the first time. My nutritionist is with me 12 hours a day and it’s had me feeling great heading into this fight.
“I’ve always been a brawler, but I’m capable of boxing, especially with my inside game. The way I can deflect punches is a strength.
“I’m just ready to get back to the top. I know that I have to climb the ladder and that’s what I’m here for.”

“Training Brandon was a good challenge for me but he has been disciplined from the very start. I laid it all out for him from the beginning, I just wanted a good response from him and he said he’s going to work hard.
“A lot of people said that he was done, and that motivated me. I’ve seen Joe Goossen bring fighters back like Diego Corrales and he’s my mentor in this sport. I’m working hard to push Brandon and get him to that level.
“Brandon is a stubborn fighter but he really does listen. He has a lot of tools and I think you’ll see that he hasn’t lost anything in that ring diumenge.”
