Traynor Victorious over Mulberry in FOTY Contender Battle Royale to Secure British Title

The highly anticipated PBC British Super Featherweight Championship clash between Denny’s Kevin Traynor (5-0-0 3KO) and Basildon’s Lewis Mulberry (4-1-0 1KO), finally took place on Saturday night, on the Lee McAllister promoted LET BATTLE COMMENCE VI event that took place at Rivals in Wishaw, Escòcia.

The heavily hyped title clash exceeded all expectations, it was an exceptional closely fought twelve round Battle Royale and rightly is being touted as a leading contender for FIGHT OF THE YEAR accolades.

No surprise really as both warriors went at it hammer and tongs for the full twelve rounds, much to the delight of the fans in attendance as well as those around the world that watched the sensational contest live on FITE+

Speaking from his home, following some well earned rest and relaxation with his family, Traynor said;

“What a night!

“The fight had been built up for the past year or so and I think it definitely lived up to expectations, and much more.

“Lewis was a great opponent very, very explosive but I kept my cool stuck to my game plan and everything went exactly the way I felt that it would, only thing I didn’t expect was for it to go the distance, I thought I would have got him out of there but the lad proved how tough he was.

“I knew how dangerous he would be early and the first three or four rounds would be the toughest, but I remained composed and continued to box smart before stepping it up later in the fight.

“It was a fantastic fight to be involved in and was an excellent experience fighting in my first twelve round fight.

“I enjoyed every second on it and would like to thank Lewis for being a fantastic dance partner, he is only a young lad and can definitely come again and do some great things in the sport.

“As for myself I’m not 100% sure what is next for me, I had a great camp for the fight but with my baby son being born it was hard to train the 2 o 3 times a day, work and be a dad so I will spend some time with my family consider what options I have then take it from there.

“Thanks to Lee McAllister, Assassin Promotions, BIBA and the PBC for the opportunity to fight for my first Championship, it has been a great journey so far and much, much more to come.”

In addition to the sensational Traynor versus Mulberry potential FOTY title clash, fans in attendance, as well as those watching on FITE+ were treated to a night of sensational closely matched contests, the standouts being;

The opening contest of the night see Aberdeen’s Samer Carol (1-1-0) and Newcastle’s Jak Johnson (1-4-0) in action against each other.

Originally Carol was due to face India’s Jaideep Singh (0-1-0) and Johnson was matched against India’s Sukhdeep Singh (1-0-0), however both Indian lads visas were not through in time, so some quick rejigging of the card led to the pair squaring off against each other in a fantastic all action, closely fought four rounder that had the potential of being Fight of the Night, had it not been for the exceptional Traynor-Mulberry title clash. After four all action rounds Referee James Ancliff’s scorecard read 39-39, it was that close!

Unbeaten Liam Allan (3-0-0 3KO) had his hands full when he faced late replacement in Kent’s Adam Harris (Debut), in a four round Heavyweight contest.

Quina lluita més gran, it was hard to believe it was at Heavyweight as the action was more akin to a Super Middle contest, and what’s more Harris became the first fighter to go the distance, in the pro ranks, with the big punching Aberdeen youngster. Referee James Ancliff scored the contest 40-36 in favour of Liam Allan.

Paisley’s Craig Kelly (11-15-1 2KO) was expecting a really testing full on nights work, when he faced Accra Ghana’s big punching Theophilus Ofei Dodoo (9-2-0 9KO), however fate stepped in to cut the fight short, as Dodoo suffered a serious hand injury during the first stanza that forced him to retire at the end of the round. However believe me the first round is definitely worth watching on FITE+ as it was one seriously great all action affair.

Another fight that only went one round was the heavyweight clash between Barrow’s Lee Kellett and Belfast’s Darren Burns. This was another all action affair, that was until just seconds in to the second minute of the contest when Kellet let rip with a massive hook to send Burns crashing to deck.

Originally the event was due to be headlined by two time WBO Featherweight World Champion Scott Harrison versus Razak Nettey PBC Commonwealth title clash, however that contest was forced to be cancelled just thirty minutes or so before it was due to take place.

Indian Star Neeraj Goyat, who was set to fight Amir Khan in 2019 makes his UK Debut in Aberdeen

Sis cops, five division World Champion and Promoter Lee Mcallister announced that he and World Boxing Council (CMB) Asia Welterweight Champion Neeraj Goyal will co-headline LET BATTLE COMMENCE IV, that takes place on the 29th May 2021 and broadcast live on FITE TV, as well as further linear and digital channels globally.

Reigning WBC Asia Champion Goyat is probably the best known Indian boxer by fans of the pugilistic arts, following the announcement back in 2019 that he was to face Amir Khan in a mega fight in Saudi Arabia, unfortunately prior to the much anticipated showdown, Goyat was seriously injured in a car crash and had to pull out, Khan fought Australia’s Billy Dib.

Goyat fully recovered from his injuries and immediately got back to winning ways, in his most recent contest, that took place at the Majestic Pride Ship, Panjim, India back in March this year Goyat knocked-out Sandeep Kumar després de just 34 segons de la quarta ronda.

On making the announcement McAllister said, “I’m a big fan of Neeraj.

“We had planned to bring him to the UK back in 2019, but when the opportunity to fight Amir was put on the table I just tore up the contract. Fighting Amir on an internationally broadcast event was a huge opportunity for Neeraj and I wasn’t going to stand in the way.

“To say I was gutted the fight didn’t happen is an understatement as the fans world-wide would have seen just how talented Neeraj is.

“So here we are two years later and finally we are going to have Neeraj fight on one of our shows and unlike when we were originally bringing him over, now our events are televised, so finally fans worldwide will get to see just what an immense talent he is.”

UK Government restrictions were relaxed in July 2020 so that sporting events could resume, however with the proviso that no spectators would be allowed to attend. Two Sensational Female Fights Feature on LET BATTLE COMMENCE II Live on FITE TV August 15th

Promoter Lee Mcallister announced earlier that there will be two female contests on the upcoming LET BATTLE COMMENCE II, en associació amb PAPA JOHN’S PIZZA i NEON ENERGY DRINK, which takes place ‘behind closed doors’ at the OYO Northern Hotel in Aberdeen and broadcast exclusively live by FITE TV on Saturday 15th August 2020.

The first of the all female battles features on the UK #1 i World #27 Ranked Super Flyweight Worksop’s Nicola Hopewell in action against Leeds’ Tasha Boyes.

Back on March 7th, just before the UK went into lockdown, Hopewell secured her #1 UK ranking onBoxRanking.Com via a sensational second round knockout victory over Ghana’s Anita Addy at the Hoops Basketball Centre in Barrow-on-Furness.

As an Amateur Hopewell, a former England Pathway Squad member, shared the ring with a host of top class fighters including Commonwealth Gold Medalist and now undefeated pro boxer Lisa Whiteside and GB boxer Tori Ellis Willetts who is on the pathway for the Olympics. During her time at the Team GB facility in Sheffield Hopewell also sparred with the likes of double Olympic Gold Medalist Nicola Adams as well as WBC International Championship Challenger Nina Bradley and IBO and WBC World Champion Terri Harper.

Hopewell’s opponent on the 15th August will be 28 year old Tasha Boyes from York, who only got into boxing a couple of years ago, after hearing about two sisters whose parents had died in the Manchester Bombing and she wanted to do something to help them in some way, so she decided to participate in a ‘White Collar’ boxing event to raise money for the orphaned sisters. Boyes continued competing successfully on the unlicensed scene, competing in further Charity events to raise funds for those more in need than herself, until earlier this year. On the 15th August Boyes will be making making her professional debut

Nicola Hopewell and Tasha Boyes careers may have been via very different routes, but come the 15th August their journeys will lead them into the very same ring.

The second of these mouthwatering fights features two pro debutante’s in action against each other, when Sheffield’s sensational Five Time National Amateur Champion Star Hollie Towl goes toe-to-toe with the World Boxing Council (CMB) La campiona del món de Muay Thai Natacha De Almeida de Suïssa.

Towl began boxing at the age of 11 years and during her esteemed Amateur career Towl secured numerous accolades including;

East Midlands Champion 2015 – 2020

National Champion 2014-2020 at three different weight classes

East Midlands box cup champion 2018 i 2019.

National association of boys and girls club champion 2019.

Esker Irish box cup champion 2019.

Esker Irish box cup silver medal 2018.

Hull box cup champion 2019 i 2020.

National welterweight champion belt holder 2019.

Xbox academy champion of champions belt holder two years running 2018-2020.

Towl was invited to join the England Boxing National Pathway Squad and has sparred WBC World Champion Terri harper and Commonwealth Champion Nina Bradley.

Towl’s opponent on the 15th August, 28 year old Natacha De Almeida, is the current WBC and PFF Muay Thai World Champion.

Al març 2019 De Almeida travelled to Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra, Ghana, where she faced and beat the bookies favourite Malaysian Dolphina Waltertony, to secure the coveted Green WBC Belt.

De Almeida has always had world class stand-up skills, so the transition to Professional Boxing should not be too much for the Muay Thai World Champ.

About The Kiyan Prince Foundation:

The Kiyan Prince Foundation was established in 2008 in memory of Kiyan Prince, Dr Prince’s fifteen-year-old son and a talented footballer who was stabbed in the heart, whilst trying to break up a fight, outside his school gates. This devastating tragedy marked the beginning of a journey which has not only transformed Dr Prince’s life but also equipped him with the knowledge and skills to support families and help prevent similar cases. In this process, he has had to defeat two of life’s toughest challenges – anger and revenge, find the strength to forgive and the commitment to substitute anger with positive life skills.

About Kiyan Prince:

Kiyan Prince was the first son born to Mark Prince and Tracy Cumberbatch on 25th November 1990.

He was an outgoing and well loved young man who got along with everybody. Teachers, fellow pupils, Queens Park Rangers football team… in fact anyone who came into contact with Kiyan counted it a privilege to have done so.

On May 18th 2006 Kiyan’s life came to a tragic, untimely and unnecessary end. The loving nature, by which he was known, was what made him step in and defend his friend who was being picked on by another youth.

The incident took place outside the gates of his school, the London Academy, located in Edgware North London. Kiyan attempted to resolve the situation in the most peaceable way by directly challenging the aggressor.

The ‘killer’, 16 year old Hannad Hasan, felt that Kiyan had disrespected him because he stood up to him. He then turned and callously killed Kiyan – plunging a knife straight into his chest. Kiyan died of a single, but fatal, stab wound to his heart.

Kiyan, who played for Queens Park Rangers Under-16’s football team. He was dubbed ‘The Bullet’ because of his speed and he was hailed as the next Wayne Rooney… tipped to play for England.

Kiyan was a beautiful, thoughtful, kind and considerate young man. . How he lived was reflected in the way he died… in probably the last words he ever spoke…

Even though he must have been very scared and in pain… in dying he still represented the life he lived. His heart was so full of love and empathy for others. In his final minutes his thoughts were, fins i tot llavors, still of others. As he lay bleeding he told his friends: “if these are my last words… tell my Mum I love her.”

About Mark Prince:

Dr Mark Prince is CEO and Founder of the Kiyan Prince Foundation, a charity borne out of pain, suffering and grief. Through a series of personal challenges (sensellarisme, drugs and alcohol abuse and criminal activity); triumphs and tragedy, the then known Mark Prince, developed a burning desire to support young people embroiled in a downward spiral of urban violence. The devastating tragedy of his son’s murder in 2006 further confirmed the importance of early intervention in a young person’s life in order to prevent what often seems like an inevitable journey into despair.

Education and Sport:

A significant part of the foundation’s work is to target school aged children and young people from primary through to secondary and tertiary education, through mentoring, life skills and training programmes. Being a professional boxer achieving titles such as the IBF and WBO Inter-continental Light-heavy weight Championship by (1997) and fighting for a world title in 1998, Dr Prince has invaluable skills and experiences that help in the development and transformation of young people’s lives for good. His autobiography The Prince of Peace written by Dr Prince and Paul Zanon is already a best seller.

Collaboration:

The Kiyan Prince Foundation is a project that has seen Dr Prince collaborate with a range of notable individuals, organisations, els mitjans de comunicació, government officials and celebrities to shine a light on the socio-economic issues impacting on young people and families nationally. He has been involved in the creation and the was the feature of the ITV documentary, “Put the Knives and Guns Down” screened on ITV London Tonight Special; panel member for The News of The World’s “Save Our Streets” campaign; keynote speaker at Metropolitan Police Operation Trident Program; and guest speaker at conferences such as, the NBCPA National Black Crown Prosecutors Association Annual Conference and the National Governor Prison Association Annual Conference.

Recognition and Vision:

In recognition of the significant contribution to the community and fight against knife crime, Dr Prince has received several well-deserved awards e.g. The Children’s Champion Award from Prime Minister Gordon Brown; an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Excel University; and recently in the Queen’s New Year Honours list (2019) to receive an OBE.

It is the foundation’s vision to obtain funding/raise the revenue to deliver#inspiringfuturechampions a campaign which involves delivering powerful messages to every school in London first, with inspirational speakers who are high level influencers amongst young people together with Dr Prince sharing with them how to utilise their strength of will, recognise their potential, individuality, purpose, how to value themselves, come back from adversity and the power of self-belief, which when understood all leads to young people steering clear of guns and knives which is a problem of the mind and not of the knife.
