NOVICE CLASS FINALS RESULTS FROM LOWELL
LOWELL, Mass. (Februar 19, 2016) – Fourteen 2016 New England Tournament of Champions winners were crowned last night in the novice class of 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Team Central produced the most individual winners with seven, followed by Team Western with five, and Team Central had two.
The unofficial fight of the night was between Salem, MA weltervekt Kenny Larson (Team Central) and his Dorchester, MA opponent Jarrod LoMax (Team Southern), in which Larson won a three-round decision, 3-2.
Portland, ME bantamweight Christian Morales (Team Northern) continued his performance run in the tournament, winning a three-round decision, 5-0, over hometown Lowell favorite Marquis Fowler (Team Central) Morales’ impressive showings in the tournament will lead him into an open division spot in next week’s New Englands.
In a Central N.E. (Greater Lowell) heavyweight final rematch, due to a round-time issue, Methuen’s Jesus Flores (Canal Street Boxing) defeated Haverhill’s John Roche (Haverhill Sentrum Boxing) by the same score as their original match in another thrilling, back-and-forth bout ending a in three-round decision (5-0). The crosstown rivalry between the two gyms and boxers led up to another compelling match with Flores qualifying for Onsdag night’s open class semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions.
The New England Tournament of Champions open class semifinals and finals will be held next Wednesday og Torsdagevenings, henholdsvis, ved Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The Outstanding New England Boxer in the novice class will be presented to the winner denne onsdagen night at the N.E. open semifinals.

Jeter Promotions signs undefeated Welterweight Steve Weimer

York, PA (Februar 17, 2016) – Jeter Promotions is pleased to announce the signing of undefeated Welterweight prospect Steve Weimer to an exclusive promotional contract.
Weimer of York, PA. har en registrering av 9-0 with two knockouts and is looking to get back in the ring following a four-year hiatus.
Weimer did not leave the ring because of the usual boxing stereotypes, but he took some time off to get his college degree. Weimer graduated from York College with a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology.
Weimer, nå 26 years-old had an amateur record of 105-31 was a three-time Pennsylvania Junior Golden Gloves champion and and also won a Pennsylvania open class Golden Gloves title. He holds an amateur win over 140-pound contender Emanuel Taylor and held his own in a fight with future U.S. Olympian Sadam Ali.
Han ble profesjonell i 2008 with a third round stoppage over Spencer Harsley and signed with upstart promoter TKO Promotions. Weimer racked up those nine wins in a three and a half year run, before heading off to college.
“I know Jeter Promotions can get me to the top,”said Weimer. I saw what Jeter Promotions did for Tony Jeter for his career and I know what Jeter Promotions can do for mine. Combine all that with my ability and I know I will fight consistently. With Jeter Promotions, I know I can get to the top and be in big fights.
“Jeter Promotions is excited to add Steve to our roster. Jeter Promotions will do for him as It did for my career. Jeter Promotions will build him to get him rated and I can see him being in a lot of big fights in the future and eventually win a world title, ” Said Jeter.
Tony Jeter is a Middleweight contender who twice cracked the world rankings and fought Chris Eubank Jr. for the WBA Interim Middleweight title. Jeter formed his promotional company and promoted 20 events. Jeter is a licensed promoter in Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia and is waiting to receive a promoters license in Pennsylvania.
Weimer is expected to make his debut under the Jeter Promotions banner on April 9at the Springfield ABC in Springfield, Virginia.

LOWELL, Mass. (Februar 11, 2016) – Team Central had the edge in last night’s novice class semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Team Central had five individual winners, followed by Team South and Team West with three victories and Team North had two. The novice class finals of the N.E. Tournament of Champions will be held Torsdag, Februar. 18 ved Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The Fight of the Night was the light heavyweight match of the novice class as Team South’s Henry Ventura (N. Dartmouth, MA) overcame two knockdowns to defeat Team North’s Tyler Jacques (St. Albans, VT) who was dropped once and also had a standing eight count, by way of a unanimous decision (5-0).
Three remaining Central New England (Greater Lowell) open class final matches were also held last night. See all results below, as well as the remaining 2016 tidsplan.

LOWELL, Mass. (Februar 5, 2016) – Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston dominated last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) championship final round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, open and novice classes, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Peter Welch’s Gym had seven winners last night: open – Hyde Park welterweight Jennifer Perella and Brookline light welterweight Abraham Nova; nybegynner – Dorchester lightweightJonathen DePina og mellomvekt Brian Lawrence, East Boston lightweight Claire Duffy light welterweight, Boston light welterweight Katie Gregory and Franklin heavyweight Jared Gately.
Lowell West End Gym and Grealish Boston had the second-most winners last evening with two apiece.
Last night, 15 matches went the distance, including several upsets, along with one technical knockout and a two walkovers.
All CNE finals winners qualified to compete in the upcoming New England Tournament of Champions, also held at Lowell Memorial Auditorium, starter neste torsdag night with the semifinals of the novice division.

LOWELL, Mass. (Februar 2, 2016) – Thirty-eight surviving amateur boxers will compete in 19 scheduled matches this Thursday night (Februar. 4) the Central New England (Greater Lowell) final round, open and novice divisions, of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
All CNE finals winners will advance to the New England Tournament of Champions, also held at Lowell Memorial Auditorium, later this month.

LOWELL, Mass. (Januar 29, 2016) – For the second week in a row all 13 matches went the three-round distance in last night’s Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, featuring open and novice class action, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Returning New England welterweight champion Xavier Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing in Lawrence (MA), var en 4-1 winner against Michael Fontenez, Nashua, NH.
Peter Welch’s Gym in South Boston led the hit parade with three winners, all in the novice class: lette Jonathan Depina, weltervekt Lipi Fernandes og mellomvekt Brian Lawrence. The Lowell West End Gym was the only other with more than one winner last night, both in the open class, lette Brandon Higgins and light welterweight Jeremiah Perez.

LOWELL, Mass. (Januar 25, 2016) – Returning New England Golden Gloves welterweight champion Xavier Vega, av Lawrence (MA), leads a host of talented open and novice class amateur boxers into this Thursday night’s (Jan. 8) in the Central New England (Greater Lowell) semifinals of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The 21-year-old Vega, representing Canal Street Boxing, faces Nashua (NH) challenger Michael fontanez in one of eight open class matches. There are also eight novice class matches scheduled.
Vega, som har en 33-3 amatør rekord, didn’t start boxing until he was 17 because he has only one kidney. A construction worker by day, Vega hopes to become a professional boxer and, hvis ikke, a Lawrence police officer in order to give back to his community.

LOWELL, Mass. (Januar 23, 2016) – The Central New England (Greater Lowell) quarterfinals round of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship was held last night at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium with 13 highly competitive matches in the novice class.
Alt 13 matches went the three-round distance for 39 rounds of action that the large crowed enjoyed from start to finish. The super heavyweight match between Dorchester’s 381-pound Ivens Derival and Haverhill’s 266-pound Kyle Davis was of special especially because of their respective sizes. Davis won by way of a three-round decision, 4-1, in a back-and-forth match that had fans standing throughout.
