NEWARK, N.J. (Octobre 13, 2017) – Candidat invaincu Maciej Sulecki fera face à sa compétition la plus rude depuis son passage dans la division des super poids welters lorsqu'il affrontera l'ancien challenger pour le titre Jack Culcay dans une attraction spéciale sous carte sur Samedi, Octobre 21 depuis Prudential Center à Newark, N.J.
Sulecki était invaincu lors de son premier 23 combats professionnels, tout en poids moyen, y compris un arrêt dominant du concurrent alors invaincu Hugo Centeno Jr. en Juin 2016. Il a marqué deux KO consécutifs en 2017 après être descendu à 154 livres.
“Mon promoteur m'a suggéré de perdre du poids, alors je l'ai testé, et j'ai tout de suite aimé,” dit Sulecki. “je suis un homme très têtu, qui fera probablement le contraire de ce qu'on me dit, mais cela a fait de moi un meilleur combattant. Je suis heureux de faire partie de cette division. j'ai la même force, mais avec plus de rapidité et plus de précision dans mes coups.
Culcay a remporté huit combats d'affilée 2013 à 2016, y compris une décision sur Maurice Weber qui l'a aidé à remporter un titre intérimaire des super-welters en 2015. Il a continué à défendre cette ceinture jusqu'à perdre une décision partagée serrée contre Demetrius Andrade lors d'une confrontation pour le titre mondial en mars..
“Sur le papier, c'est mon adversaire le plus coriace,” dit Sulecki. “On ne sait jamais ce qui va se passer. J'espère que Culcay est aussi bon que annoncé. C'est un combattant intelligent, il bouge bien et est techniquement compétent. Cela aurait pu être une nuit de repos, mais il a fait mal paraître Andrade dans leur combat.
“Je n'aurais jamais pensé que Culcay combattrait en dehors de l'Allemagne, mais je suis content qu'il ait changé d'avis. Il sera un excellent ajout à mon palmarès de victoires. Je suis un combattant agressif, mais je vais remplacer l'agression par la terreur pour ce combat. Je vais le terroriser dès la cloche d’ouverture.”
Si Sulecki peut être à la hauteur de ses paroles en octobre 21, un titre mondial tiré dans la division profonde et talentueuse des 154 livres pourrait être à l'horizon.
“Tout le monde sait que je veux la ceinture le plus vite possible,” dit Sulecki. “C'est une excellente occasion pour moi de prouver que je le mérite. “Je suis prêt, motivé et concentré. Je dois gagner Samedi pour que je puisse avoir le match revanche des Mares. C'est le combat que nous voulons.
“Je ne néglige certainement pas Avalos. Je sais que je dois combattre un gars dangereux. Il va venir prendre ma ceinture et il se fiche des combats que je veux dans le futur.
“J'espère que tous mes fans apprécieront ce combat car je vais tout donner. Nous avons travaillé très dur et nous nous sommes très bien entraînés pour ce combat.. Je dois m'occuper d'Avalos avant de pouvoir m'inquiéter d'autres combats..
“Je prépare toujours la même chose pour mes adversaires. Les gens ont leur opinion sur chaque gars, mais je respecte tous mes adversaires de la même façon.
“Nous avons travaillé la polyvalence pendant le camp d'entraînement. On ne sait jamais comment un adversaire va sortir, donc je dois être prêt à tout et m'adapter sur le ring..
“C’est important pour moi d’offrir un grand combat aux fans du sud de la Californie.. Ce sont les meilleurs fans de combat et je leur dois toujours d'être à mon meilleur..
“Cela a été un autre camp d'entraînement très dur pour moi et mon équipe.. Peu importe qui est l'adversaire, nous travaillons dur chaque jour et nous nous développons mutuellement.”
CHRIS AVALOS
“C'est vraiment une bénédiction d'être ici. Je suis reconnaissant à mon équipe de m'avoir donné un fort, camp dur qui me rend très confiant avant ce combat.
“C'est une excellente carte pour pouvoir montrer mes compétences. Avec autant de combattants de haut niveau, c'est une chance de faire de mon mieux sous les yeux du monde entier.
“Je suis heureux que Leo ait pris ce combat et m'ait donné l'opportunité de faire mes preuves.. Je sais que j'ai encore beaucoup à donner et c'est exactement l'occasion dont j'ai besoin pour montrer à tout le monde que.
“Je suis très confiant pour ce combat. Léo et moi nous nous sommes beaucoup disputés quand nous étions amateurs. Je vais profiter de cette expérience et l'utiliser à mon avantage Samedi.

“Je me suis entraîné très dur. Il n'y avait pas de raccourcis. C'était un entraînement dur tous les jours. Les combattants comme Gutierrez sont les plus difficiles car ils ont tout à gagner et rien à perdre.
“C'est formidable d'être de retour dans cette position et de combattre dans ce qui est essentiellement ma ville natale.. Tout le monde sait que le StubHub Center est le « War Grounds ».’ Après Samedi nuit, J'espère que tout le monde rentrera chez lui heureux.
“J'ai hâte de revenir sur ce ring. Je veux offrir un grand spectacle aux fans et m'assurer qu'ils repartent satisfaits.. J'ai vraiment hâte de ressentir l'atmosphère avant d'entrer sur le ring et d'aller travailler..
“Le plan de jeu change toujours en fonction de l'adversaire, mais je suis aussi prêt à m'adapter pendant le combat. Je dois rester concentré et prêt. Au final, je pense que ça va être un grand combat pour les fans..
“Robert Garcia m'a beaucoup appris et il m'a apporté des choses supplémentaires. J'ai eu fière allure en sparring, mais maintenant il est temps pour moi de le mettre sur le ring.
“Je vois définitivement un peu de moi-même Gutierrez. J'étais autrefois le jeune combattant cherchant à contrarier le vétéran établi. C’est pourquoi je me suis entraîné pour ce combat comme si j’étais face à n’importe quel champion ou combattant de haut niveau.. Je sais que c'est un combat difficile et je serai prêt.
“Je pense que ce combat me rendra meilleur. J'aime recevoir et je vais vous offrir un très bon spectacle Samedi.
ANDRES GUTIERREZ
“Je suis honoré d'être ici et de donner un grand combat aux fans Samedi. Ce qui s'est passé avant le combat contre Frampton est derrière moi. Je suis prêt et je me sens très fort.
“Je sais qu'Abner est le combattant de plus haut niveau que l'on puisse affronter.. Je dois être à mon meilleur pour remporter un titre mondial. C'est le genre de défi que je veux et je serai prêt à tout.
“J'espère qu'Abner ne me sous-estime pas. Je veux qu'il soit à son meilleur niveau pour que quand je gagne. Mon plan est d'y aller et de me battre dur jusqu'à ce que le combat soit terminé et de montrer à tout le monde comment je suis compétitif..
“Il n'y a pas de repos dans mon corps. J'ai travaillé trop dur pour arriver à ce point de ma carrière. Je vais absolument lui donner tout ce que j'ai et plus encore.
“Je veux donner à tout le monde un grand combat. Je suis prêt pour une guerre. Je suis ravi de réaliser une performance spectaculaire.”
EDDIE RAMIREZ
“J’ai eu un excellent camp d’entraînement et j’ai travaillé dur. Je reste au gymnase donc je suis toujours prêt à saisir une opportunité comme celle-ci.
“Mon équipe est vraiment importante pour moi et c’est à eux que revient le mérite de m’avoir amené là où je suis.. Nous travaillons dur et nous nous poussons tous les jours au gymnase..
“Je m'améliore à chaque fois que je monte sur le ring. Cela va être une autre expérience d'apprentissage pour moi à mesure que j'arrive là où je veux aller dans ma carrière.. Ce n'est encore que le début.
“Des combats comme ceux-ci sont ceux que tous les champions doivent traverser avant d'atteindre le plus haut niveau.. C'est important de gagner, mais aussi pour impressionner quand je suis sur le ring.
“DeMarco est un gars avec beaucoup d'expérience donc je sais qu'il pense qu'il a cet avantage sur moi.. Tout ce que je peux faire, c'est être à mon meilleur. Je suis convaincu que ma jeunesse, la vitesse et la puissance feront la différence à la fin.

“I love fighting in Mexico because the fans are loud. You can feel the energy inside the arena. Every time there is an exchange, the crowd goes crazy. This will be my sixth time fighting out there and I know its going to be exciting.”
On the state of the super-flyweight division…
“The division is filled with talented fighters all across the board. Although they have a few losses, Roman Gonzalez and Rau’Shee Warren are some of the big names in the sport. I’m just looking to continue my march up the rankings with the hopes of cracking the top ten in the near future.

My weight is good and I’m feeling great. Me and Bones have a great relationship. He knows what it takes to become a world champion so his knowledge is very valuable. I do my best to feed off his energy and listen to his instructions. He’s a great coach and were going to get to the top together.”
On fighting in Mexico…

On the current state of his career…
“Since I signed with Greg Hannely, my career has taken off. This will be my third fight since May of 2017 and I’m glad to be staying busy. I know Prince Ranch Boxing has some big plans coming up. My vision is to stay undefeated and keep climbing up the rankings. I love were I’m at right now.”

Pound-4-Pound Boxing Program sends Jordan Aguilar and Leslie Soto to Elite Qualifier

PHILADELPHIA – Philly super middleweight Taneal Goyco, returns to the Briscoe Awards for his second-ever trophy for the “Upset of the Year”. Goyco won the same award two years ago and repeats for 2016, with his shocker over rising Maryland prospect Jerry Odom.
The pair met on November 11, 2016, au 2300 Aréna dans le sud de Philadelphie, and after a rocky start, Goyco punched his way back into the fight was declared the upset winner by TKO after five rounds.

When he’s had some free time to travel, Vinne has gone to New York, Philadelphia and even Montreal for quality sparring.
He started boxing at seven, when he first walked into a gym, and captured a Southeast Regionals Golden Glove title but, à 14, only boxed sporadically, until he turned pro at 20. “I definitely have a passion for boxing,” the 32-year-old confessed. “I’m a boxing fanatic. If I’m not training, I’m watching fights, live or on television. It’s my love. Boxing will always be part of me and when I finally hang up my gloves, I want to be a referee, so I can still be in the ring, and have the best seat. Je ne veux pas juger. Bigger guys last longer than smaller fighters. I want to continue doing this until by late thirties, maybe early forties.
“I fell in love with the cruiserweight division when I saw the (Vassily) Jirov-(Jacques) Toney lutte (at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut). The cruiserweight division is hot right now with the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS). (Oleksandr) Usyk could win the tournament, unifying all four major belts, and then move up to heavyweight. That could be good for me if I was one of the eight fighting for one of the four vacant (major) titres. I’ll look for the right fights until then, against guys who’ve been around and maybe competed for world or regional titles, like my next opponent (Faraff), who is the WBC Latino heavyweight champion.”
histoire, who occasionally is forced to fight as a heavyweight as he will against Faraff, will still weigh in around 200-205 livres. He walks around at 208 and usually weighs in at 194-196 for his cruiserweight fights. “I have no plans to compete as a heavyweight,” il dit. “I’ve fought some heavyweights and it looks better for me to go the distance, or stop, guys much bigger than me. I try and pick the right guys to advance my career.”
Why has Carita fought so many opponents from countries all over the world? Networking. His job with the DOD, before he started working as a court officer, found him traveling around the world. Wherever he went – Afrique du Sud, Dubai, Irlande du Nord, etc. – he worked out at boxing gyms and made invaluable connections, establishing working relationships with many managers and matchmakers who he’s remained in contact with throughout his pro boxing career.
Because he trains himself, Carita only has one regular person working his corner, Pittsfield (MA) court officer John Felix, who he first met when they were drill instructors at the academy. Carita adds a cut-man for his fight but he tends to keep things lean and mean, even in his corner.
Nobody knows better or appreciates more what promoter Jose Antonio Rivera accomplished when he was world champion working full-time as a court officer in Worcester.
“To work full-time, raise children, train to be a world-class fighter and become world champion three times speaks volumes about Jose,” Carita commented. “Maintenant, he’s promoting and putting guys like me on his shows.”
“I understand perfectly how hard and demanding his schedule is working a fulltime job as a court officer and training to try to achieve his goals of fighting for and winning world championship,” Rivera a ajouté. “I am glad Vinnie has chosen to give RPE an opportunity to be able to help him get closer to achieving his dream.”

Cohen Predicting Brant Will Achieve a ‘Changing of the Guard’ Against Former Champ Braehmer on October 27

Greg Cohen, promoter of middleweight/super middleweight contender Rob Brant, says his undefeated fighter is headed for a “changing of the guard” fight against Juergen Braehmer.
Brant (22-0, 15 KOs) and Braehmer (48-3, 35 KOs) will meet on Friday October 27, at the Kongresshalle in Schwerin, Allemagne, as part of the World Boxing Super Series’ super middleweight division.
The 38-year-old Braehmer is a long-time light heavyweight world champion, who hasn’t fought at super middleweight in a decade. A star in his native Germany, where the fight is taking place, Braehmer seems to be on the tail end of a distinguished career.
27-ans Brant, from Saint Paul, Minnesota, is the dark horse in this tournament. With comparatively much fewer professional titles and accomplishments thus far in his career, Brant would seem to be taking a huge risk with his undefeated career.
Pas si, says Cohen.
“We think Robert Brant is going to win this whole tournament,” a déclaré Cohen. “You have the perfect ‘changing of the guard’ type of fight here: an undefeated young buck against an aging former champion.”
Mais, says Cohen, there are some hidden factors at play in this fight.
“Braehmer is coming down in weight for the fist time in eight or nine years and hasn’t fought since losing his title via TKO stoppage late last year. Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs) dethroned defending champion Stiverne in January 2015 via unanimous decision in what was the promising challenger’s toughest fight to date. Dominic Breazeale (18-1, 16 KOs), who lives in Eastvale, Californie, is coming off a KO victory over Izu Ugonoh on Février. 25. The 32-year-old Breazeale suffered the only loss of career in a heavyweight championship match against Anthony Joshua in London on June 25, 2016.
Eric Molina (26-4, 19 KOs) has twice fought for the heavyweight world championship. In his first title shot the 35-year-old from Weslaco, Texas was knocked out by Deontay Wilder on June 13, 2015. Molina lost via TKO to Anthony Joshua in his next opportunity on Dec. 10, 2016. Molina bounced back with a majority decision victory against Jamal Woods in his last fight on Sept. 2.
Five-division world champion Amanda Serrano (33-1-1, 25 KOs) will be making her fourth appearance at Barclays Center when she defends her super bantamweight world title against Marilyn Hernandez (26-10, 17 KOs). Serrano, who was born in Puerto Rico and lives in Brooklyn, successfully defended her title with a TKO victory over Edina Kiss in her last fight on Juillet 21. Hernandez of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic scored a TKO victory over Maria Hernandez in her last fight on Jan. 10.
