“Il est très important que je fasse une bonne performance Samedi. Beaucoup de gens m'ont radié et c'est mon travail de leur prouver qu'ils ont tous tort..
“Ça va être un très bon combat. Ce sera de l'action du début à la fin. J'ai déjà été sur ce genre de plateforme, donc mes nerfs sont tous apaisés. Je suis juste vraiment excité de monter sur le ring.”
ANDRES GUTIERREZ
“Tout s'est très bien passé au camp d'entraînement. Je ressens 100 pour cent physiquement et je suis prêt à me battre.
“Je vais devoir me manifester et me battre fort pour 12 rounds contre Abner Mares. Je dois utiliser mes coups puissants et attaquer tout le combat.
“Je suis très heureux et motivé à l’approche de ce combat. J'ai hâte d'avoir une chance de remporter un titre pour la première fois.

“Le camp d'entraînement a été vraiment bon. Nous avons travaillé dur chaque jour et je suis prêt à me battre. Je ne peux juste pas attendre.
“DeMarco est un vétéran rusé. Je dois être fort et intelligent. Tout dépendra de moi pour être le meilleur combattant dans l'ensemble..
“Je suis prêt à tout faire sur le ring. Si je dois boxer, je ferai ça. Si j'ai besoin de me battre, je ferai ça. Nous verrons comment se déroulera le combat, mais je serai prêt à m'adapter et à faire ce qu'il faut pour remporter la victoire..
“J'ai essayé de devenir un combattant plus intelligent l'année dernière. Je dois travailler plus intelligemment. Cela va vraiment me permettre de libérer le reste de mon potentiel.
“Si je parviens à obtenir un arrêt, je vais sauter dessus. Je suis prêt à être le combattant le plus intelligent et à utiliser mon cerveau pour remporter la victoire.”
ANTONIO DEMARCO

“Ramírez est un jeune, adversaire fort. Il est invaincu et je sais qu’il va être motivé pour conserver son palmarès parfait. Je suis prêt à faire tout ce qu’il faut pour remporter la victoire.”
IVAN Redkach
“Cela a été un camp d’entraînement très difficile. Je suis en excellente forme après avoir travaillé au gymnase avec Leo Santa Cruz pendant environ trois mois.. Je suis ravi de faire mes débuts à 140 livres.
“Il avait été trop difficile de réduire le poids pour obtenir du poids léger. Ça m'épuisait toutes mes forces. Je vais avoir beaucoup plus de puissance et montrer beaucoup plus de mon jeu sur Octobre 14.
“J'ai formé des sparring-partners de toutes sortes. J'ai aussi travaillé avec Jorge Linares’ camp menant à son combat. Je me teste chaque jour pour m'améliorer.
“Être à la salle de sport avec Leo me donne beaucoup de motivation. Il m'aide également sur toutes les parties techniques de mon jeu.. Il reste au dessus de moi et m’a aidé à m’améliorer.”
EIMANTAS STANIONIS
“Travailler avec Freddie Roach a été incroyable. Il m’a montré tellement de nouvelles choses et je suis vraiment chanceux d’être dans cette position.
“Je viens de me battre il y a trois semaines donc je suis impatient de remonter sur le ring. Je suis resté en forme tout le temps, c'est ce que je veux faire. Je suis toujours prêt mentalement à monter sur le ring aussi bien que physiquement.
“C'est une grande motivation d'être sur une grosse carte comme celle-ci. J'ai hâte de me produire devant ces fans et de leur montrer mes compétences.
“Mon style est comme un style mexicain. J'aime mettre la pression sur mon adversaire et lui lancer des coups de poing. Je peux tout faire sur le ring et j’ai hâte de tout montrer.”

Brooklyn Cindy Serrano will be making her Barclays Center debut in an eight-round special attraction bout. Brooklyn native 2016 Haïtienne olympique Richardson Hitchinswill fight in a four-round welterweight bout. Brooklyn Julian Sosa will enter the ring for a six-round welterweight attraction and Georges Arias of the Bronx will be fighting an eight-round heavyweight bout.
Here’s what the fighters had to say on Wednesday:
Erislandy Lara
“I know that Gausha is a young undefeated Olympian who’s coming to take my title. But I don’t need to worry about him. I’ve got to worry about what I’m bringing into this fight.
“I don’t choose my fights, but I’m going to clean out the whole 154-pound division. There are a lot of young fighters now, but I’m going to just clean it out and show that I’m the best here. The Canelo rematch is there. The Golovkin fight is out there. I have unfinished business that has to be settled. Canelo knows who the true winner of our fight was, and he doesn’t want to do that fight again.
“There’s been a lot of catastrophes in the world lately in Houston, Puerto Rico and Florida. I’m fortunate that it only affected my training for three days so I was able to stay focused. I stayed at my house and I kept training.
“I would love to move up to 160 and Canelo and Golovkin are the top guys. Mais 154 is much deeper. Those are the two guys we want, but if we can’t get them then we have to stay at 154 and clean it out, Comme j'ai dit. There are just better fights at 154.
“If you look at Canelo’s record there are three marks. There’s Mayweather, me and Golovkin. Great fighters fix the wrongs on their record, and Canelo and his team will have to do that sooner or later.
“I don’t know what [Gausha] does well. Je sais Samedi he’s going to have to show me something or he’ll be in trouble. After six rounds, I will be totally dominating. Just like I’ve done in all my fights.”
TERRELL Gausha
“I’m real confident that I walk away with the world title. I’m blessed as well as happy that [ce combat] is happening. Ça a été une longue période à venir. Hard work pays off.

I just haven’t had my chance to display my skills at that level yet, but I’m here now.
“I’ve had a lot of fights, I can’t even count how many. I’ve been doing this since the age of 10. I look forward to these big fights. A lot of guys you fight don’t have the name, but Erislandy Lara has the name and the credentials. I’m looking forward to beating him come Samedi nuit.”
Jermell Charlo
“It’s always great to fight at Barclays Center, but it’s just another arena and stepping stone for me.
“This fight is going to do a lot for boxing, and this fight does a lot for this 154-pound division. There’s just so many positive things coming from this fight card, and hopefully everyone will come out and support it.
“I’m the champion of the world and I’m trying to get the fights that I want. I’ve been avoided and a lot of fighters have been ducking me. There’s nothing we can do about that. This is a living for me, but it’s also a hobby and something that I love.
“I own a home in Houston and California. My area wasn’t too jacked up [by the flooding]. And now you’ve got the wildfires in California. My prayers go out to all those affected. But it has brought Houston together, and we’re getting support from the NFL and NBA guys. And boxing has come together to help too.
“None of the flooding affected my training camp because I train out of town. We had some trees knocked down, but that’s the least of my worries right now.
“I think my fight is the one the people want to see [on the card]. My opponent is a young stud and he comes to win a world title. Is Lubin the best fighter I’ve faced? Je suis 29-0 and I’ve fought a lot of great fighters. You can’t talk about what’s on paper and what’s not.
“My style is unique in the ring and so is his. He has a high volume of punches, but that’s what we trained for. He’s expecting fireworks, I’m expecting explosions. So just don’t be surprised.”
ERICKSON LUBIN
“In these types of situations, I feel like I’ve got to keep my composure. There are a lot of cameras, a lot of lights, but I was born to do this. I’m keeping my composure but I’m going to let it all out Samedi nuit.
“We’re both going to go in there fully prepared. It’s all about who wants it more. I feel like there’s nobody in this division who wants it more than me. Just because he’s been sparring Errol Spence, that doesn’t mean a thing.
“All my previous fights against the veterans and experienced fighters have prepared me for this one. I know how to adjust. I always come ready to fight. I always come with fireworks. I’m definitely going to get my respect early.
“My ability to adjust in the ring is definitely going to give [Charlo] problems. He probably thinks that I’m going to go in there and just box or maybe just bang. I can definitely mix it up and that’s going to give him a problem Samedi nuit.
“[Charlo] moves pretty well but I don’t feel like that’s going to harm me. I trained for everything this camp. I’m ready to box. I’m ready to bang. I’m ready for any situation that he brings to me. I’m just ready to become the WBC Champion.”
JARRETT HURD
“I think this fight is more of a mind game than about physical strength.
“This is a display of the top 154-pounders in the world. I asked for this fight because in order to be the best you have to beat the best. I feel like Austin Trout, even with three losses, is the top competition. A win would mean everything. I want to show that I’m much better than the others he’s fought.
“This is my second time fighting in New York and everyone always shows me the love here, so it’s an honor.
“I’ve always rooted for Austin in his fights, but this is business now. C'est rien de personnel, it’s just that he’s in the way right now.
“I’m the taller fighter, I’m the longer fighter, and I’m the strongest fighter. I’m also the younger fighter, so those advantages will definitely be the keys Samedi nuit.
“He uses his jab well and he throws a great left to the body. He uses the ring well and he’s a veteran and he knows how to survive. He’s a crafty fighter, and knows how to win the rounds. But I don’t think that will be a factor because we are expecting it.
“I’m coming to open the show and all the fans should expect fireworks.”
AUSTN TROUT
“I’m smarter than [Hurd], and I’m better than him. What else can he do? He’s no smarter or better than me. I have better footwork, better speed, better placement of shots. The only thing he has is his size, and he overpowers the smaller guys. But I’m not small. I’m just as strong, if not stronger than Hurd.
“The fans can expect fireworks until my man goes down. I don’t think he can take my pressure for 10 ou 12 tours. I expect my arm to be raised in great fashion.
“People have been overlooking me my whole career. Before I was just fighting to get noticed, then I got noticed. Now I’m fighting for respect. But I’m not worried about that.
“I’ve done more after winning the belt than he’s done just getting the belt. No doubt I’m the best. There’s just no doubt the cream will rise to the top Samedi nuit. Once I clean up at 154 livres, there’s nowhere to go but north.
“There’s been no talk about what’s next and if the winners [Samedi] will fight the winners, but I don’t see why not. My goal is to get a belt Samedi nuit, and then get the rest of them.”
CINDY SERRANO
“This is my first time fighting at Barclays and I’m honored to be fighting on such a prestigious stage.
“I’ve been fighting for 15 years and when I started there were no females fighting. But I’m impressed with some of the women fighters out here now. There are some young ones that I hope stay around for a while because there is incentive and the pay will be there. So I’ll just keep on going after it until my time is up.”
JULIAN SOSA
“I’ve seen a few of his fights online. He’s a traditional Mexican fighter, so he brings a lot of pressure and a lot of angled shots to the head, to the body and uses his uppercut. I haven’t seen a lot of straight punches from him. That’s more my style. I’m more of a counter-puncher, boxer-puncher. When I’m in the ring with him I’ll see what he has, as far as his speed and his power.
“My father was a former boxer and he’s been training me since day one. He’s always been by my side and he’s my role model and just so glad we get to share this moment together.
“It’s surreal that this is my fourth time fighting at Barclays Center. It’s still shocking and humbling knowing that I can fight in big venues like this.”
RICHARDSON HITCHINS
“I know I’m young, but I think once I move up to six rounds my competition will step up. It’s a great card and I think Lara will win, and Lubin all the way. I see the Trout-Hurd fight as 50-50, but I would lean toward Hurd.
“I don’t know anything about my opponent. In the amateurs all you know is the city. You’re fighting a guy from Philadelphia. Or a guy from Vegas. And how you fight is all based on where he’s from. Like if you fight a guy from [Californie] then he’s going to put on pressure. So I’ll be quick to adapt, and it doesn’t really matter who the guy is or what he brings.
“I’m ready to start building my legacy.”
GEORGE ARIAS
“I’ve put in the work and I’m hoping the results are the same from my last few fights. I’ll be ready to exchange and do what I need to do to get the win.
“I know my opponent has a good jab and he has a lot of experience and he’s strong. They could throw me in there with someone 0-70 and I’d give the same intensity as someone undefeated. Every fighter I face is a world champion in my eyes.
“I predict a second round knockout. I’m always looking for the knockout, at least early on.”

Groves, 29, has an experienced advantage over Cox in terms of quality opponents fought. Mai dernier, Groves stopped Fedor Chudinov in the sixth round to capture the WBA Super World Super Middleweight Championship. En plus de Chudinov, Groves has defeated two other world champions, fellow Brit and Olympic gold medalist James DeGale (MDEC12), and Glen Johnson (UDEC12). All three of Groves’ career losses as a professional have been to world champions, twice to fellow Brit Carl Froch, avec Badou Jack.
“Experience is very important,” Groves explained. “You don’t understand it until you got it and even when you got it it’s still difficult to understand. I’m sure it will play a part. Cox has boxed at a high level as an amateur but he’s yet to do it as a pro. Let’s see if he can cope. I’m sure he will be well rehearsed in the build-up and well drilled in the gym but putting it together under the spotlight on the biggest stage is always the most difficult task. I’ve been there and done it before, but let’s see if he can.
“I’ve still got the hunger. I’ve still nowhere near achieved what I set out to achieve as a little kid. I haven’t won enough belts, I haven’t won enough fights, I haven’t made enough money, and until all those and a few other things are crossed off the bucket list, I’m more-hungry than ever. I finally know what it feels like to be a World Champion and I don’t plan on surrendering that anytime soon. Now I would like the feeling of winning the Muhammad Ali Trophy.”

The Groves-Cox winner will advance to the WBSS semifinals to face another Brit, IBO champion Chris “Prochaine génération” Eubank Jr., who knocked out previously undefeatedAvni Yildirim in the third round of last Saturday’s quarterfinals fight in Germany.

NEWARK, N.J. (Octobre 10, 2017) – IBF Cruiserweight Champion du Monde Murat “Fer” Gassiev shared his thoughts from training camp in Big Bear, Calif., as fight week nears for his World Boxing Super Series quarter-final showdownSamedi, Octobre 21 contre Krzysztof Wlodarczyk depuis Prudential Center à Newark, N.J and on AUDIENCE Network.
Gassiev first arrived to train in the U.S. en 2014 and has worked with the renowned Abel Sanchez, eventually capturing his title with a victory over Denis Lebedev in December 2016.
“Abel is an amazing guy and he has pushed me very hard in the gym,” said Gassiev. “He’s really a father figure here in the gym. I have so much respect for him and the way that he treats people. The best thing that I ever did was come here to train with Abel Sanchez.
“We have very hard and intense training, but this is not ballet. He’s preparing me for battle and I trust that he knows exactly what we need to do to have success.”
“There are no world champions in my gym,” Saïd Sanchez. “Your belts stay at home. My gym is just a place to work and get better. I can already see the improvements in this training camp for Gassiev. He had Lebedev down but didn’t finish him. Moments like that, you have to finish the job.”
The 23-year-old from Vladikavkaz, Russia had a winding road to success in the squared circle, but quickly embraced the sport upon picking it up at 15-years-old.
“Boxing was actually not my first sport,” said Gassiev. “My city has produced lots of Olympic and world champion wrestlers, so that was my first sport. Then I tried soccer, but that wasn’t quite right either. One day I went to a boxing gym with my friend and right away I knew, this was what I needed. Eight years later, and I’m very happy where I am.”
Gassiev has trained alongside the likes of middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin up in the unique atmosphere and altitude of Big Bear.
“It’s very important to be in a place like this because the only focus is training,” said Gassiev. “This is what we do all day. This is exactly what I need to be at my best and win this tournament. I don’t see my family for a long time, but it’s part of my life. This is my business and I’m doing all of this for my family.
“We have a very diverse group of fighters here in Big Bear. We’re all family and support each other. It’s been a great experience for me and I’ve learned a lot about different cultures.
“Some guys who come in for sparring in Big Bear really don’t anticipate how the altitude changes things. They think they can fight 10 tours, but after three it is too much. This is the best place to prepare for tough fights.”
“This has been a really smooth camp,” Saïd Sanchez. “I haven’t had any more problems with sparring partners vanishing after a couple days in the ring with Gassiev. We have the tools to make him even better than in his last performance.”
The winner of the Gassiev vs. Wlodarczyk fight will meet WBA champion Yunier Dorticos in a unification showdown in the WBSS semi-finals. Cependant, Gassiev knows he cannot look past the two-time champion standing in his way in the quarter-finals.
“I know that I have to prepare myself for a tough fight,” said Gassiev. “I’m facing an experienced fighter and it’ll be a great test for my career. Je suis prêt pour cette.

“Charlo vs. Lubin is really a great title fight between two tremendous fighters. Charlo is going to have his hands full with Lubin. I think Jermell is going to come out on top with a close, split-decision win.
“Austin Trout is a great fighter, but I think that Jarrett Hurd is too young and too strong for him. That’s going to be another going to be a good fight but I’m picking Hurd by a unanimous decision.”

“I really think Hurd vs. Trout is a 50-50 lutte. If Trout can box for 12-rounds and not get tired the way Tony Harrison did, I think he’ll win the fight. But if he slows down in the later rounds, I think Hurd will probably take over and stop him.
“I’m expecting Lara to get the win. No disrespect to Gausha, I know he’s going to come hungry and try to take the title. But the skills and experience of Lara I think will make the difference.”
JARRETT HURD
“Gausha is going to have to keep a high pace and stay in Lara’s face all night, because you know that Lara is going to use the ring. In the end I think Lara is just on a different level than what Gausha has faced. I think Lara will win by decision.
“Charlo vs. Lubin is really a 50-50 lutte. Lubin is the faster and sharper fighter, but Charlo is more mature. I would have to lean towards Charlo on this one because he’s been on this stage and been in title fights before. We don’t really know what Lubin can do yet so I give Charlo the slight edge but it’s really close.”
AUSTIN TROUT
“This is really a great night of guys putting it all on the line in tough fights. I’m expecting these to be hard-fought and close bouts. You really can’t know who the winner is until the fight starts, so I think it’ll be exciting for the fans.
“My focus is full on Jarrett Hurd. Boxing has tried to write me off but I’m not going anywhere. I’m a true warrior. I’m ready and if I can get that belt, I’m ready to face any of the other winners as soon as possible to prove that I’m the best.”

Potapov Ready for Battle Against Narvaez This Saturday in Argentina

WBO #2-ranked Russian bantamweight Nikolai Potapov is in Detroit, finalizing preparations for his long-awaited showdown with WBO #1-ranked Omar Narvaez of Argentina.
The pair will meet for a 12-round showdown this Samedi, Octobre 14, at Estadio Obras Sanitarias in Buenos Aires and live on Argentina TyC Sports.
27-year-old Potapov (17-0, 8 KOs) hails from Podolsk, Russie, but travels to Detroit before fights, to work with well-respected trainer and nephew of Emanuel Steward, Javan SugarHill.
“I had an intense training camp in Detroit with Sugar Hill Stewart,” said Potapov. “This is our second camp together and I feel like I am getting better everyday.”
Defeating the former WBO World Flyweight and Super Flyweight Champion Narvaez (46-2-2, 24 KOs) will not be easy for Potapov. The tough southpaw won his first world championship 15 years ago and remains one of the world’s best. “I look forward to making a statement in the Narvaez fight and taking a step closer to a world title,” continued Potapov.

“Nikolai is one of the best bantamweights in the world,” said his promoter, Dmitriy Salita. “A win over a top fighter a former world champion like Narvaez will put the division on notice. Nikolai is coming to make a name for himself on Octobre 14.”

DAMON ALLEN JR IS THE ONE TO WATCH FROM PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA – Rising Philadelphia lightweight Damon Allen Jr., 13-0-1, 5 KOs, will be honored as “The One to Watch” for the Philly fight scene, at the 10th Annual Briscoe Awards, sur Dimanche, Octobre 15, 2017.

Since his debut in 2013, Allen has been steadily rising in the lightweight division, and now finds himself on the brink of a major breakthrough. With Golden Boy as his promoter, and an impressive skillset in the ring, Allen is well-positioned to soon step into the spotlight.

For these reasons, Philly Boxing History, a non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating and documenting the Philadelphia fight scene, named Allen the “One to Watch” and will present him with a Briscoe Medal at their annual event this weekend.

• Rite Hook Promotions’ Javonn “Pinkie” Barnes agreed to fight welterweight contender Karim Mayfield Octobre 21in his hometown of San Francisco, COMME. The undefeated Barnes, who is from Atlanta, was in training camp preparing for the opportunity and Mayfield stirred the pot by trash talking on Barnes’ social media pages. To the surprise of Barnes and Hunter, a contact never came and Mayfield is instead fighting Miguel Dumas of Mexico.
Hunter believes that the 5’11 Barnes’ size was a concern for Mayfield. The last foe Mayfield, 5'sept, faced 5’11 or taller was back in 2008. Although the Mayfield fight is off the table, Barnes will continue to receive world class sparring when he joins Regis Prograis’ training camp to help him prepare for his upcoming bout against Viktor Postol. Hunter is negotiating to get Barnes on the undercard.
• Mike “Concrete” Bissett came up short in his Août 25 challenge for the NABF heavyweight championship against hard-hitting Laron Mitchell. Bissett, a natural cruiserweight who has a reputation for taking on all comers, entered the fight with an injury and a 30-plus pound weight disadvantage. A throwback fighter, Bissett looks to get back on track in the near future.
• Hunter is partnering with a group headed by Florida Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Pete Fernandez to start a promotional firm called Fight Night Promotions. The company is hosting their first show Vendredi, Novembre 10 at the Bryan Glaser Family JCC in Tampa, FL. Like Hunter’s vision with Rite Hook, Fight Night Promotions will help build and promote local talent. Fighters currently scheduled to appear on the 10th include female sensation Jazmine Artiga, who Hunter believes is a superstar in the making, and Ivan Franco.
