“I’m here to put on a great fight. That’s what we worked so hard to do on Saturday night. I’m excited to showcase my talents on FS1 and FOX Deportes and make a statement at super middleweight.

“My wife just had a daughter, and that’s been my biggest motivation all training camp. I’m fighting for my family, not just myself. I’m hoping to inspire people who see my story and realize it’s not just about the fight, but about what we’re fighting for. I’m here to spread a positive message.

“Quand nous sommes dans ce ring, all I’m going to see is Caleb Truax, nothing else matters. I’m very fortunate to be here and have the chance to display my skills. He has to look good in front of his fans, and I’m just here to give the fans a good fight. There’s no pressure to do anything extra.

“When I sparred Caleb I remember I knocked his headgear off and it flew across the ring, that’s the only thing I really remember from that. I knew our paths could eventually cross. I’ve had my eye on him and I was really happy for him when he won his title. I have a feeling we’re going to combine for a great fight.

“I have a very determined opponent and I’m fighting in his backyard. It’s a tough fight for both of us. I have to put my authority down on this fight and control it. It’s going to be hard with all his fans in there, but what I’ve always done is take negative circumstances, and turn them into positives.”

CALEB TRUAX

“I’m excited for Saturday night. It’s a big fight and important for me that I’m in the main event and in a title eliminator. I’m looking to earn a chance at another title and I know that I have to take care of business on Saturday to get there.

“I’m looking forward to sharing the ring with Peter Quillin, a guy I’ve known and respected for a while. He’s accomplished a lot. I think that our styles are really going to clash and give the fans a lot of action and drama.

“Peter and I sparred a long time ago, de retour 2012. I came away feeling confident that if we ever fought, I’d be able to get the job done. “I’m happy to be here for this world title elimination fight. This fight is important for my career to get back to where I want to go and to show what I am capable of.

“On Saturday night I’m going to put on a really good show and give the fans a beautiful fight. Everyone knows I always bring action and great technical skill. I am confident that I will be victorious on Saturday and go on to win a world championship.”

“It’s nice to be here and I’m very thankful for this opportunity against Derevyanchenko. It’s a great honor for me to be in this fight against one of the best middleweights in the world. This the step that I was looking to take in my career.

“I’ve been sparring with Caleb Truax, and I feel it’s gotten me completely ready for this challenge. I’m going to show it in the ring on Saturday night. It’s going to be a lot of action and a lot of skill in the ring.”

“Both of these are fantastic matchups because there are championship implications on the line,” a déclaré Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. “That adds to the motivation for each of the guys stepping into the ring. For Qullin and Truax, they both know what it means to be a world champion and this is their opportunity to return to that status. There is always a lot of energy in the Armory for these types of matches and that really carries over to the FS1 and FOX Deportes broadcast for those watching at home. It promises to be a very entertaining evening for all boxing fans.” 

A former middleweight champion, Quillin (34-1-1, 23 KOs) delivered in his second bout at super middleweight, defeating J’Leon Love last August by unanimous decision. Born in Chicago and raised Michigan, Quillin has called Brooklyn, N. Y.. home throughout a pro career that saw him win a world title against Hassan N’Dam in 2012 and defend it three times. His only loss came to Daniel Jacobs in 2015 after battling former champion Andy Lee to a draw earlier that year.

“I’m approaching this fight very seriously because I know Truax is a durable guy who knows how to fight,” Saïd Quillin. “He comes from a background where people don’t give him credit for what he’s done, and those are the most dangerous guys. I’m no stranger to fighting in my opponent’s backyard. My job is to go into the ring and go home with the win. I’m looking to walk away with some of his fans on my side by winning the fight and putting on a great performance.”

Fighting out of Osseo, Minnesota, Truax (30-4-2, 19 KOs) pulled off one of 2017’s biggest upsets when he traveled to London to defeat James DeGale and become a 168-pound world champion. The 35-year-old lost a hard-fought rematch to DeGale in 2018 and most recently scored a third-round stoppage of Fabiano Soares at the Armory in August.

“Peter Quillin is someone I’ve wanted to fight since I first sparred with him in 2012,” Saïd Truax. “I walked away from that experience confident that I could get the job done if we were ever matched together. The fact that it’s taking place at home in Minnesota is even better because my fans are going to give me a huge advantage. My goal is to get back into title contention and win my second world title.”

Un 2008 Olympian for his native Ukraine, Derevyanchenko (12-1, 10 KOs) has made his home in Brooklyn, N. Y.. since turning pro in July 2014. The 33-year-old was unbeaten in his first 12 combats, earning a world title fight with a final-round stoppage of Tureano Johnson in 2017. He most recently dropped a narrow split-decision to Daniel Jacobs in a middleweight title fight in October.

Culcay (25-3, 13 KOs) is originally from Ecuador, spent much of his career fighting out of Germany, and now lives in Florida. He enters this bout on a three-fight winning streak after picking up a trio of wins in 2018. He had previously held an interim 154-pound titles before losing close decisions against Demetrius Andrade and Maciej Sulecki.

Representing his hometown of Brooklyn, N. Y., Colbert (10-0, 3 KOs) has begun to make a name for himself showing off tremendous skills across his first 10 victoires pro. The 22-year-old most recently dominated Josh Hernandez on FS1 in January and he will return to fight at The Armory for the second time after defeating then unbeaten Austin Dulay on FS1 last April.

EXCLUSIVEMENT SUR LE CANAL SUPER
EDMONTON, Canada (Janvier 22, 2018) – super Channel, No. 1 réseau de destination pour les amateurs de boxe canadiens, diffusera les prochaines demi-finales de la populaire World Boxing Super Series (WBSS) tournoi, avec une action de division des poids croiseur et des poids super moyens de classe mondiale, en direct de divers lieux en Europe.
Super Channel a acquis les droits exclusifs au Canada pour diffuser l'intégralité du tournoi WBSS de MP & Silva, une entreprise leader des médias internationaux qui fournit les droits des médias, numérique, services technologiques et de parrainage.
“Nous sommes ravis que le WBSS revienne sur Super Channel pour une couverture canadienne exclusive des demi-finales très attendues.,” dit Troy Wassill, Directeur de la programmation, Distributeurs nationaux et sports. “Je n'ai aucun doute sur le fait que chaque combat sera passionnant, action incontournable pour les fans de boxe, alors que ces combattants de classe mondiale s'affrontent pour voir qui va s'affronter pour le très convoité trophée Muhammad Ali.”
WBSS est un tournoi à élimination révolutionnaire de type bracket mettant en vedette les meilleurs boxeurs du monde et un total de $50 millions en prix en argent. Le format à élimination directe de la compétition verra les meilleurs boxeurs se disputer finalement le trophée Muhammad Ali, le plus grand prix de la boxe. Le tournoi est organisé par la nouvelle société Comosa AG, une entreprise enregistrée en Suisse avec les principaux propriétaires Highlight Event & Divertissement, Groupe des temps modernes et équipe Sauerland. Comosa AG travaille en partenariat avec des boxeurs, promoteurs et managers dans le monde, et en alignement avec les quatre grandes fédérations mondiales de boxe, pour créer une nouvelle plateforme mondiale pour le sport.
Le premier tournoi du genre, qui devrait avoir lieu sur une base annuelle, a débuté en septembre dernier avec des quarts de finale dans deux divisions, cruiserweight et super moyen. Un panel d'experts a invité les meilleurs boxeurs du monde à participer, à savoir les 15 meilleurs combattants des quatre grandes fédérations: WBA, WBC, IBF et WBO. Les vainqueurs des deux demi-finales se qualifieront pour la ronde de championnat dans les deux divisions en mai.

Les deux vainqueurs des demi-finales cruiserweight deviendront le premier champion du monde unifié des cruiserweight depuis Evander Holyfield en 1987. L'éventuel champion du monde WBSS cruiserweight deviendra le premier à détenir les quatre principaux titres de corps de sanction – WBC, WBA, IBF et WBO — en même temps.

Le “Braehmer vs. Brant” carte, à partir de 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT,termine la couverture en direct des quarts de finale du tournoi WBSS pour les amateurs de boxe canadiens, exclusivement sur le réseau de destination de boxe canadien, super Channel, qui a acquis les droits au Canada de diffuser la World Boxing Super Series de MP & Silva, une entreprise leader des médias internationaux qui fournit les droits des médias, numérique, services technologiques et de parrainage.
Braehmer, 39 ans (48-3, 35 KOs) est une ancienne World Boxing Association (WBA) et l'Organisation mondiale de boxe (WBO) champion du monde des poids lourds légers qui a perdu du poids pour participer au tournoi des super-moyens WBSS.
L'Allemand percutant est 9-1 dans les combats pour le titre mondial et le gaucher qualifié a battu deux champions du monde, Hector Javier Velazco et Enzo Maccarinelli. Braehmer aura également l'avantage de combattre Brant à domicile.
“Je suis très heureux que ce combat ait lieu dans ma ville natale de Schwerin,” Braehmer a dit. “En bref, J'ai hâte de commencer mon voyage pour gagner le Trophée Ali. Je me sens bien, top motivé. “Je ne sous-estime pas Brant, mais je suis dans ce tournoi pour le gagner. Brant (22-0, 15 KOs), se battre hors de Saint Paul, Minnesota, était le seul boxeur américain sélectionné pour concourir dans le WBSS. Contrairement à Braehmer, cependant, Brant a progressé d'une catégorie de poids pour participer au tournoi WBSS. Il est l'Association nord-américaine de boxe en titre (Aussi) champion des poids moyens.
“Braehmer est bien accompli et un boxeur éprouvé dans le monde entier avec une puissance de star dans son propre pays,” Brant, un outsider de 27 ans, a noté. “Je n'ai aucun problème à aller dans sa cour pour un combat, il est un combattant classé dans ce tournoi.
“Je pense que c'est un pur combat à la croisée des chemins contenant un combattant bien connu vers la fin de sa carrière contre un espoir chaud qui cherche à se faire un nom dans le sport.. Je me sens confiant pour gagner ce combat comme tout le monde dans mon cercle d'entraînement. Après avoir fait des recherches sur Schwerin, Je suis ravi de concourir dans une ville aussi belle et historique.
“Juergen a tout fait, tout vu, mais il ne m'a pas combattu. Je suis convaincu que je gagnerai vendredi. Je dois être vif mentalement, mais je me sens en meilleure forme que jamais dans tous les sens. Je sais que c'est un cliché de dire ça, mais vendredi la foule et le monde verront de quoi je parle.”
Le vainqueur de Braehmer-Brant se qualifiera pour les demi-finales du WBSS au début de l'année prochaine pour un titre mondial contre un Britannique invaincu Callum “monde” Forgeron (23-0, 17 KOs), qui le mois dernier a remporté une décision unanime en 12 rounds contre précédemment invaincu Erik Skoglund (26-1, 12 KOs), de Suède, dans leur match de quart de finale WBSS.
Cinq matchs passionnants sur le “Braehmer vs. Brant” carte, promu par Sauerland Event, sera diffusé au Canada exclusivement sur Super Channel. Le Braehmer vs. L'événement principal de Brant en 12 rondes devrait commencer à 5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT.

“I’ve been working very hard in Big Bear, California with Abel Sanchez for about 10 weeks preparing for this fight. We are like a family up there. I have my Russian brothers, plus Gennady Golovkin, who is definitely like an older brother to me.
“Abel has helped me so much. He hasn’t tried to change my style. He’s just gone in and made my style better. He means so much to me.
“My last fight was my first title shot and I felt great in the moment. My nerves were calm and I feel like this is what I was made for. I want to be in this position for a very long time.
“I’m very thankful to be a part of this tournament. I’m very happy to be a part of this. This is an opportunity to be a unified world champion and prove that I’m the best in the division.
“My opponent has a lot of experience and has been in a lot of tough fights. He’s been in more fights than me, so I just need to be ready. Je suis prêt pour 12 rounds or a short fight. This is what I train for.

KRZYSZTOF WLODARCZYK

“Everyone knows that my experience will help me. I’ve had a lot more pro bouts than Gassiev. But I also will need to display smart boxing. I think I am the more intelligent fighter and will show it Samedi.
“My first goal is to win and become IBF world champion. That would put me in a special place in the history of Polish boxing as a three-time world champion. Winning this tournament would be very prestigious and lucrative for me.
“It’s always great to have the support of the great Polish fans. They really support all of their guys from Poland. But I have lots of experience fighting on the road with no Polish fans so it will just be a nice bonus.
“It’s going to be a clash of styles, I don’t know exactly what it will look like, but I can guarantee that it’s going to be exciting.”
MATEUSZ MASTERNAK
“Je ai eu un bon camp. My sparring was strong and I was very happy with the training in Poland. I finished my camp in London for some new sparring and everything is all set for Samedi.
“I have a very good opponent. He’s going to use his boxing skills. We sparred with each other a few years ago and it was good, hard sparring for eight rounds. It could help me Samedi but sparring is different from a real fight.
“It’s very important for me to fight in the U.S. and to perform well. I haven’t fought in the U.S. in seven years so I’m excited to be back. I’m motivated to do well and keep getting big fights.
“I’m fully concentrated on this opponent. I have to get in there and take care of my strategy. I don’t know exactly how the fight is going to go, but I will be ready and have a plan for everything.”
STIVENS BUJAJ
“I feel perfect physically. I’m ready to rumble Samedi nuit. We’ve done all the conditioning, sparring and dieting to be in the right position on fight night. I did what I had to do.
“I’ve been training here in New York, mostly in the Bronx but also moving around and finding the best possible sparring to prepare for Samedi.
“He’s a tough opponent and I can’t underestimate him. I’ve trained to win. I’m going to come out on top one way or another.
“I’ve sparred with Masternak before, so I know what I’m dealing with. I’m going to go in there and pick him apart. He’s an aggressive fighter who will come forward and throw power punches, but I’m ready for that.
“I’m so happy with where my body is at heading into this fight. This is the best I’ve felt in a long time. The shoulder injuries are behind me and I’m healthy now.
“I can’t really say what the fight will look like but I hope everybody comes out Samedi to see the show. I feel comfortable fighting in the New York/New Jersey area and I can’t wait to go get this win.”
MACIEJ SULECKI
“Everything was perfect in training camp and I feel very strong. I worked well with my coach and we were on the same page all of camp. I worked very hard and I’m ready to show-off on this big card.
“I know that Culcay was a great amateur champion and an interim champion in the pros, so he’s obviously a very good fighter. But I will win this fight because I’m better and stronger more determined to get the win.
“I saw Culcay fight Demetrius Andrade. Ce était un bon combat, but I don’t think Andrade performed well. Culcay lost but he made it very competitive so I know that he will be a challenge.
“I feel better at super welterweight than I did at middleweight. I always knew I could go down in weight and now was the time. So far I have felt much stronger at this weight.
“I am fully focused on fighting Culcay. First I must beat Jack Culcay, but I want to fight all the best fighters in the division. Jermell Charlo, Erislandy Lara and Jarrett Hurd, Je suis prêt pour chacun d'eux.
“It’s a lot of extra motivation to fight in front of the Polish fans. They are the best fans in the world and I’m ready to perform.”
JACK CULCAY
“I feel perfect physically. This was one of my best training camps ever. I trained for about five months in Germany. I had four or five very tough sparring partners to get me prepared for this.
“Sulecki is undefeated and that’s the most important thing I know about him. I trained my hardest for this and Samedi you will see the best versus the best.
“Je dois vitesse, I have gained strength and I will show the mix of Ecuadorian and German styles. I was an amateur champion and now I’m going to be a champion in the pros.
“I learned against Demetrius Andrade that I can fight with anybody. I can compete with anybody in this sport. I’m going to show my experience Samedi nuit.”

NEWARK, N.J. The first contest of the World Boxing Super Series was the cruiserweight quarter-final between WBO World Champion Aleksandr Usyk and Marco Huck at the Max-Schmeling-Halle.
Ukranian Usyk retained his WBO cruiserweight title and moved on to the next round of the Ali Trophy tournament by stopping German Huck in the 10th round.
The Olympic gold medalist from London 2012 forced his German opponent backwards and dominated with his power throughout the fight which proved why the number one seed is the tournament’s favorite.
En outre, the Ukrainian got new fans all around the world with his charisma inside and outside the ring.
Septembre 23, San Antonio – Dorticos-Kudryashov, Ali Trophy cruiserweight quarter-final
With a combined 41 knockouts over 42 victoires, Yunier Dorticos vs. Dmitry Kudryashov at the Alamodome promised an all-action fight. In a fight between two KO artists, Cuban Dorticos showed that he mastered his skill better than his Russian opponent.
The WBA World Champion proved that he is a dangerous challenger for everyone in the tournament when a perfect right hand sent Kudryashov crashing to the canvas in round two. Kudryashov was counted out and Dorticos lived up to his nickname: ‘The KO Doctor’.
Septembre 30, Riga – Briedis-Perez, Ali Trophy cruiserweight quarter-final
10.000 ecstatic fans at the Arena Riga got what they came for: A victory for their hero, WBC World Champion Mairis Briedis when beat Cuban Mike Perez (22-3, 14 KOs) par un 12 round unanimous decision in a very competitive fight.

NEWARK, N.J. (Octobre 13, 2017) – Unbeaten contender Maciej Sulecki will face his toughest competition since moving to the super welterweight division when he takes on former title challenger Jack Culcay in a special undercard attraction on Samedi, Octobre 21 depuis Prudential Center à Newark, N.J.
Sulecki was unbeaten in his first 23 combats professionnels, all at middleweight, including a dominant stoppage of then unbeaten contender Hugo Centeno Jr. en Juin 2016. He’s scored two straight knockouts in 2017 after making the move down to 154-pounds.
“My promoter suggested I move down in weight so I tested it, and I liked it right away,” said Sulecki. “I’m a very stubborn man, who will most likely do the opposite of what I’m told, but this has made me a better fighter. I’m happy to be part of this division. I have the same strength, but with more speed and more precision in my punches.
Culcay won eight fights in a row from 2013 à 2016, including a decision over Maurice Weber that helped him capture an interim super welterweight title in 2015. He continued to defend that belt until losing a close split-decision to Demetrius Andrade in a world title showdown in March.
“On paper he is my toughest opponent,” said Sulecki. “You never know what will happen. I hope that Culcay is as good as advertised. He’s an intelligent fighter, he moves well and is technically skilled. It could have been an off night, but he made Andrade look bad in their bout.
“I never thought that Culcay would fight outside of Germany, but I’m glad that he changed his mind. He will be a great addition to my resume of victories. I am an aggressive fighter, but I’m going to replace aggression with terror for this fight. I’m going to terrorize him from the opening bell.”
If Sulecki can live up to his words on October 21, a world title shot in the deep and talented 154-pound division could be on the horizon.
“Everyone knows that I want the belt as soon as possible,” said Sulecki. “This is a great chance for me to prove I deserve it. I couldn’t imagine a better place to have a real evenly-matched fight. I know the crazy Polish fans will be in the building and cheering hard. What more motivation could I need to be at my best?”
