HOUSTON (October 29, 2015) – Before the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBCSN fight card this Saturday, some of the fighters hosted a media workout at Charlo Brothers Boxing Academy. The card will feature a main event showcasing undefeated rising star Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (26-0, 11 KOs) out of Houston, Texas taking on former world champion Joachim Alcine (35-7-2, 21 KOs).
Televised coverage will begin at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT with the hard-hitting Tony Harrison (21-1, 18 KOs) taking on Cecil McCalla (20-2, 7 KOs).
Here is what Jermell Charlo had to say before stepping in the ring on Saturday:

“Fighting here in Houston in front of my hometown crowd with all of my family and friends to support me is huge. This is my first opportunity to fight as a main event in my city, and I’m excited to put on a great show for the fans.
“Joachim Alcine does certain things in the ring that I’ve seen and taken note of. There are some things I believe I can take advantage of. Hopefully he makes those mistakes and I can make him pay. But he puts in hard work. I know I’m not just going to go in there and beat him up. I’m going to have to be smart, but it should be a very entertaining fight.
“Sometimes too much experience can be a bad thing. Alcine is going to come in there on Saturday and try to use his experience to beat me, but I’m confident he’s going to run into some problems with me.
“My plan is to come in strong and powerful, be the faster man, move a lot and try to make him commit to the things he’s used to seeing me do in previous fights. And that’s how we’re going to open him up.
“I don’t necessarily have a prediction, but I’m going to knock him out. I don’t know what round it will be, but he’s going down.”

SIX PRELIMINARY CONTESTS ALSO CONFIRMED FOR NOV. 20

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (October 29, 2015) – A lightweight scrap pitting Brandon Girtz (13-4) against Derek Campos (15-5) has been added to“Bellator 146: Kato vs. Manhoef” at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, OK., on November 20.

 

The 155-pound tilt will take place during the main card of “Bellator 146: ‘Kato vs. Manhoef,” which airs live on Spike at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, while preliminary bouts will stream on Spike.com at 6 p.m. CT.

 

Tickets for “Bellator 146: Kato vs. Manhoef” are on sale now at the WinStar World Casino and Resort Box Office, as well as Ticketmaster. Ticket prices range from: $75, $55, $45 and doors for the event open at 5:00 p.m. CT local time, with the first contest taking place one hour later.

Previously announced pairings for the event include featherweight action featuring Bubba Jenkins (9-2), who takes on Jordan Parsons (11-1) and Hisaki Kato (5-1) who meets Melvin Manhoef (29-12-1) in a middleweight headlining attraction. In addition, a welterweight scrap pitting Ricky Rainey (11-3) against Chidi Njokuani (13-4) will also take place.

The card’s preliminary slate is also taking shape with the addition of six contests. A heavyweight fight between Zach Rosol (1-0) and Alonzo Menifield, two catchweight bouts, one featuring Bubba McDaniel (25-10) against Kenyon Jackson (3-2) and Stephen Banaszak (4-5) versus George Pacurariu(10-4). Also, a featherweight scrap pitting Treston Thomison (8-3) against Chris Jones (9-3), a bantamweight feature with Eli Tamez (9-0) battling Roshaun Jones (2-3) and welterweights Justin Patterson (6-0) meets Sean Holden (3-1).

Coming off a fight that many mixed martial arts media members and fans consider to be an upset, Girtz will “Cold Roll” his way into “Bellator 146: Kato vs. Manhoef” riding momentum from his split decision win against Melvin Guillard at “Bellator 141: Guillard vs. Girtz.” Now, with two wins in his last two Bellator MMA appearances, the 30-year-old Minnesota resident will look to redeem himself from a unanimous decision loss suffered against Campos more than two years prior.

On the opposite end of the spectrum will be Campos, who is coming off a defeat at the hands of Michael Chandler at this past June’s record-breaking“Bellator 138: Unfinished Business” event. “The Stallion” will hope to duplicate the success he experienced at the expense of Girtz during “Bellator 96”where he took home scores of 29-28 from all three judges sitting at cageside. Campos will be competing close to home, with Lubbock, Texas being a short drive away from Thackerville, OK.

WARD AGREES TO EXCLUSIVE MULTI-FIGHT AGREEMENT WITH HBO BOXING

 

NEW YORK, NY (October 29, 2015) – Roc Nation Sports is pleased to announce that Two-Time World Champion and top-rated pound-for-pound fighter Andre Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) will return to the ring on Saturday, Nov. 21 in the co- feature to the Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez middleweight world championship showdown that will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View. Ward has signed an exclusive multi-fight agreement with HBO that will commence with Ward’s Nov. 21 fight at The Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Having cleaned out the super middleweight division, Ward, 31, will be making his debut in the 175-pound light heavyweight division against an opponent to be announced.

 

“HBO is the premier network in boxing and has been a great home to me both as a fighter and a commentator,” Ward said. “I made my professional debut on HBO nearly 11 years ago and I’m excited to move on to this next stage of my career at the light heavyweight division on HBO. Known for his strong character and integrity outside the ring and his warrior’s instinct inside it, Ward’s skill and talent were apparent early in his outstanding amateur career. He racked up every title in the books, culminating with a gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. As the only male American boxer to claim Olympic gold since 1996, Ward joined the likes of Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Oscar De La Hoya. He turned professional on December 18, 2004, scoring a second round technical knockout victory over Chris Molina at Staples Center in a fight that was televised live on HBO. He has gone on to rack up 27 more victories since then, building an ever-growing legion of fans in the process. After becoming the Ring Magazine and WBA Super Middleweight World Champion, rising to the number two spot on the pound-for-pound list and winning the 2011 Fighter of the Year Award (ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Ring Magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America), it was announced that Ward signed an exclusive promotional agreement with Roc Nation Sports in January 2015, opening a new chapter in his storied boxing career. The Bay Area product returned to the ring on June 20, 2015 at the Oracle Arena in front of his hometown fans in Oakland, California and scored a ninth-round knockout over Paul Smith, continuing his unbeaten streak which dates back to when he was a 13 year old amateur. BROOKLYN (October 29, 2015) – Former world champion and Brooklyn-native Yuri Foreman (32-2, 9 KOs) will return to the ring for the first time since 2013 as part of a stacked undercard featuring a diverse group of fighters from across the boroughs and regions of New York on Saturday, December 5 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The slew of additional talented fighters featured on the card include undefeated rising star from Staten Island and 2012 U.S. Olympian “Sir” Marcus Browne (16-0, 12 KOs), undefeated Brooklyn-native Heather “The Heat” Hardy (14-0, 3 KOs) and Queens’ firefighter Will “Power” Rosinsky (19-2, 10 KOs) who takes on Long Island’s Joe Smith Jr. (19-1, 16 KOs) in a 10-round light heavyweight contest.

An ordained rabbi, Foreman moved to Brooklyn from Belarus at a young age and found solace inside the legendary Gleason’s Gym. Foreman was sensational in winning the first 27 fights of his career before he defeated Daniel Santos in November 2009 to capture a super welterweight world title. While he lost an all-New York showdown with Miguel Cotto at Yankee Stadium in 2010, Foreman won the last four fights of his career before retiring in 2013. Now the 35-year-old returns to the ring to fight in front of his hometown fans.
A 2012 U.S. Olympian, Browne has been very impressive since making his pro debut in November 2011. The 24-year-old Staten Island-native has put together a big 2015 with victories over Cornelius White and Aaron Pryor Jr. before he knocked out former world champion Gabriel Campillo in the first round in September. Browne will be making his 10th career start at Barclays Center, the most of any fighter.
A popular Brooklyn fighter who competed in Barclays Center’s first-ever professional female boxing match last year, Hardy has become a staple at the arena since. On December 5, she will be making her fourth consecutive appearance at Barclays Center. A little over two years after her pro debut, Hardy won an international title belt in the super bantamweight division in October 2014. In 2015, she defeated Noemi Bosques and Renata Domsodi leading up to her third fight of the year in December.
Residing in Ozone Park, New York while also serving as a firefighter in Queens, Rosinsky is seeking is fourth consecutive victory. The 30-year-old won the U.S. Amateur Championship at light heavyweight in 2005, was a four-time New York Golden Gloves champion and began his pro career with 14 straight wins. His only defeats were to Edwin Rodriguez and former world champion Kelly Pavlik. He enters the December 5 contest having taken down Paul Gonsalves and Shujaa El Amin to start 2015.
At 26-years-old, Smith Jr. is looking to continue to make a name for himself in the division. The 2008 New York Golden Gloves champion picked up victories over veterans Michael Gbenga, Oti Griffin and Tyrell Henrix in 2014 before adding two more triumphs to his ledger in 2015. The Long Island-native has racked up 13 wins in a row and will be making his Barclays Center debut on December 5.

Fox of 7-0 with 2 knockouts.  The freakishly tall 6’3 1/2 ” Lightweight is just 19 years-old.  He turned professional in 2014.  The Forestville, Maryland native is coming off a 6-round unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Castillo on July 18th in Washington, D.C.

Williams of Harrisburg, PA has a record of 4-0 with 1 knockout.  Williams, 32 years-old, turned professional in 2012 and is coming off a 4-round unanimous decision over Eddie Gates on November 22, 2014.

Castillo was a 2012 Olympian from the Dominican Republic.   Castillo turned professional in 2013 and has knocked out all 7 opponents with the latest being a 1st round stoppage over Jesus Pascual on August 9, 2014 in the Dominican Republic.
Gonzales of Philadelphia has a record of 6-0-2 with one knockout.  The 25 year-old turned professional in 2012 is coming off a 6-round unanimous decision over Ryan Belasco on October 2nd in Philadelphia.
Triplett of boxing rich Youngstown, Ohio has a record of 2-0 with one knockout. He is coming off a 1st round stoppage over Frank Barnes on April 18 in Campbell. Ohio.

Snow of Capitol Heights, Maryland is a 10 year professional.  He won his first 10 fights which has catapulted him to a record of 17-2  with 11 knockouts.  In his last bout, Snow stopped Christopher Sanchez in the 1st round of a bout that took place onMarch 6th.
Rosario of Pennsauken, New Jersey has a record of 3-1 with two knockouts.  The 25 year-old has won three in a row since dropping his pro debut in 2014. He has wins over Eliezer Mendez Garcia (1-0) and his last bout when he stopped Korey Sloane in three rounds on September 19, 2015 in Chester, PA.
Irizarry of Cherry Hill, New Jersey has a record of 3-1-1.  The 23 year-old is looking to rebound from his first pro defeat when he takes on Eliezer Mendez Garcia on November 20 in Philadelphia, PA.

Fourth judge to be added in event of any draws 

LAS VEGAS (October 29, 2015) –World Series of Fighting (WSOF.com) announced today, a comprehensive set of rules for its historic, one-night, eight-man lightweight (155 pounds) tournament on Friday, Nov. 20, live on NBCSN at11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT from Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz.

“We are looking forward to a competitive night of tournament action after months of evaluating how we could make this the most exciting event possible and, at the same time, ensure the safety of our athletes and give each of them the best opportunity to prevail in the cage,” said World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo.

A former, six-time world kickboxing champion and two-time Hall of Famer, Sefo is a decorated veteran of over 50, one-night tournaments.

Designed to maximize the performance of its athletes and ensure that a decisive winner emerges in each bout, the “WSOF 25: 8-Man Lightweight Tournament” rules include scoring by a fourth cageside judge in the event that the original three judges in place score any bout a draw.

Additionally, elbow strikes will be permitted in the championship bout of the tournament when the standard, Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts take effect, but not in the quarterfinal or semifinal stages of the single-elimination affair.

Each of the four quarterfinal stage tournament bouts as well as both semifinal stage bouts will consist of two, five-minute rounds.  The championship bout will be comprised of three, five-minute rounds.

In one bracket of the eight-man tournament affair, Luis “Baboon” Palomino (23-11) of Miami, Fla. will square off with Rich Patishnock (6-2) of East Stroudsberg, Pa., while Brian Foster (23-7) of Sallisaw, Okla. will collide with Joao Zeferino(18-6) of Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

In the opposite bracket, Brian “The Bandit” Cobb (20-8) of Bakersfield, Calif. will battle Mike “The Martian” Ricci (10-4) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, whileIslam Mamedov (12-1) of Jersey City, N.J. via Derbent, Dagestan, Russia will face Jorge “Macaco” Patino (38-15-2, 1 NC) of Houston, Texas via Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The winner of the fight between Palomino and Patishnock will meet the winner of the fight between Foster and Zeferino in the semifinal stage of the tournament, while the winner of the bout between Cobb and Ricci will square off with the winner of the bout between Mamedov and Patino in the semifinal stage of the event.

The two semifinal stage winners will face one another in the championship round.

In the lightweight co-main event, Jason “The Kansas City Bandit” High (18-5) of Kansas City, Mo. will duke it out with Estevan “El Terrible” Payan (16-8, 1 NC) of Tempe, Ariz.

In one of two tournament reserve bouts, LaRue “The Cannibal” Burley (6-1) of Mesa, Ariz. will go to war with Joe Condon (12-8) of Victorville, Calif.

In the second reserve contest, Benny “El Hijo” Madrid (11-3) of Phoenix will face Ramil Mustapayev (3-1) of Ossetia, Russia.

Should any of the tournament’s quarterfinal stage fight winners be unable to re-enter the cage for his semifinal stage commitment due to an injury sustained en route to victory, the loser of the bout will advance to the following tournament round in place of the hurt fighter.

If neither the winner nor loser are healthy enough to re-enter the cage, however, one of the reserve fight winners will serve as a replacement in the tournament field.

Doors at Comerica Theatre will open at 5 p.m. MT, and the first bout will begin at 6 p.m.

DALLAS (October 29, 2015) – Super welterweight world champion Jermall Charlo (22-0, 17 KOs) will defend his title in his home state against “Silky” Wilky Campfort (21-1, 12 KOs) as Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC comes to The Bomb Factory in Dallas Saturday, November 28.  Televised coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.
Also featured, Dallas-native and 2012 Olympian Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (18-0, 15 KOs) takes on Mexico’s Alejandro “El Elegido” Barrera (28-2, 18 KOs) in a 12-round contest.
“I haven’t stepped out of the gym since I won the title,” said Charlo. “You get the title, you defend it. That’s the motto. I know Campfort is hungry and at the top of his game, but I’ve been training just as hard, if not harder, to defend my title. It took everything I have to get here and it’s going to take everything I have to remain here.”
“I am ready to fight,” said Campfort. “I am not in this business to run. I’m not afraif of anybody. I’m coming to win a world title and achieve my dream. Charlo better not underestimate me, because I have only victory on my mind.”

The November 28 event features two rising stars in the sport, both from Texas as they showcase their skills on Thanksgiving weekend. The undefeated Charlo will be defending his world title for the first time while the undefeated Spence Jr. looks to make another impressive statement in his young career that has many calling him a future world champion.

A newly crowned champion at 24-years-old, Charlo grabbed his title with a dominant third-round stoppage of Cornelius Bundrage in September. Residing in Houston, Charlo fights in his home state for the first time since a 2013 stoppage of Orlando Lora. Charlo built up his resume in 2014 with dominant victories over Hector Munoz, Norberto Gonzalez and Lenny Bottai before shutting out Michael Finney in March leading up to his world title fight.
Born in Haiti but fighting out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Campfort has not lost since his second pro fight in 2009. The 30-year-old has fought professionally in the U.S., Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic and his native-Haiti. He’s won six fights since the beginning of 2014 including stoppages of Milton Nunez and Devon Moncrieffe. In his last contest he stopped Ronald Montes in the second round on September 18.
A member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team who boasted a highly decorated amateur career, the 25-year-old Spence Jr.will look to put on a show in front of his hometown Dallas crowd. Spence Jr. is widely regarded as one of the top rising prospects in the sport and was dominant in his PBC debut on April 11 as he defeated Samuel Vargas by fourth-round knockout and he followed that up by stopping Phil Lo Greco in the third round onJune 20. Most recently, Spence Jr. recorded a flawless performance in his win over South African Chris van Heerden with an eighth-round stoppage on September 11.
Fighting out of Monterrey, Mexico, Barrera will be fighting in the U.S. for the second time in his career after picking up a victory over John Mackey in 2012. The 29-year-old won his first 20 bouts after turning pro in 2007 and enters this fight with three straight victories including triumphs over Juan Montiel and Jose De Jesus Macias in 2015.

 Undefeated Welterweight Javier Flores takes on Jamie Herrera on November 5, 2015 for the WBC United States National Welterweight Championship

On Thursday, November 5th in Washington DC, Javier “El Chino” Flores will step in the ring at the 25th Annual Fight for Children Night with the WBC United States National Welterweight Championship (“USNBC”) on the line. Flores, one of Roc Nation’s most promising prospects, has been in the game for some time but is now poised to take the next step towards a championship as he battles a tough Jaime Herrera (12-1-3 7 KOs) in a 10 round bout.


Flores of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico is currently in camp in Orlando, Florida and is training hard for his first title opportunity. Said Flores, “camp has been very good and we are working hard to bring home the victory to Puerto Rico.” The southpaw Flores is a come forward fan friendly fighter who describes himself as a power boxer that can box from the outside or rumble on the inside. His current record stands at an impressive 12-0 with 11 KOs. Having been sidelined previously with managerial issues, Flores is ready to increase his activity level and show that he is the best fighter in Roc Nation’s stable not named Miguel Cotto or Andre Ward. Flores feels the timing is right for him to break out and establish his own name. In Herrera, Flores is facing a battle- tested veteran who has victories over Patrick Boozer, Michael Finney and his biggest win to date when he stopped former world title challenger Mike Jones just 15 months ago. The fighting pride of the Coachella Valley in California, Randy “El Matador” Caballero is one of the sport’s most intriguing rising stars and as the IBF World Bantamweight Champion prepares for his Las Vegas debut, he is on the verge of taking his career to the next level in a big way. “El Matador” Caballero has gone from local hero to international standout over the course of a professional career that began in 2010, as his meteoric rise has seen him defeat the likes of Alexis “Beaver” Santiago, Jose Luis “Tapitas” Araiza, Manuel “Suavecito” Roman and Luis “Titi” Maldonado. In 2014, the 25-year-old took his show on the road as he traveled to Kobe, Japan to defeat Kohei Oba via eighth-round technical knockout. The victory earned the 24-year-old Caballero a shot at a world championship, and on October 25, 2014 he packed his bags once again, as he traveled to the Salle des ‘Etoiles in Monte Carlo to defeat England’s Stuart Hall for the vacant IBF World Bantamweight Championship.

 

British southpaw Lee “Playboy” Haskins has had a big 2015 campaign thus far. The Bristol native regained the EBU Bantamweight Title in February with a decision win over Omar Lamiri and then took the interim IBF Bantamweight crown in June by stopping Ryosuke Iwasa in six rounds. This November, the 31-year-old will attempt to unify the title with the highly touted Caballero and is determined to go back to England with the belt.

 

Cotto vs. Canelo, a 12-round fight for Cotto’s WBC and Ring Magazine Middleweight World Championships, takes place Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. At 28-years-old, Williams is looking to take out another tough contender on his road to title contention. The Fort Washington, Maryland-born fighter owns victories over Enrique Ornela, Cornelius White and Yusaf Mack throughout his career. He most recently dominated Michael Gbenga on his way to earning a unanimous decision in December 2014.
Born in Cuba but fighting now out of Miami, Savigne won a gold medal at the 1999 Pan American Games and the 2000 Cuban National Championships. He has beaten Jeff Lacy, Maxell Taylor and previously unbeaten fighters Jackson Junior and Quinton Rankin since turning pro in 2009.
