Parsippany, New Jersey (November 27, 2015) – On Friday night, December 11, GH3 Promotions will present an outstanding night of professional boxing at the Parsippany PAL in Parsippany, New Jersey.

In the main event, exciting Light Heavyweight, Jerry “The Kings Son” Odom will take on Michael Mitchell in a bout scheduled for 8-rounds.
Odom of Bowie, Maryland has a record of 13-2, with 12 knockouts.
The 22 year-old Odom won his first twelve bouts, which was highlighted by a thrilling 7th round stoppage over previously undefeated Vilier Quinonez on July 25, 2014.  Odom rebounded from his first defeat, which was a controversial disqualification to Andrew Hernandez to comeback and destroy Hernandez in the first round of their March 13, 2015 rematch.  The Quinonez and Hernandez rematch bouts where nationally televised on ShoBox: The New Generation.
In his last bout, Odom was stopped in three rounds by Samuel Clarkson on July 17, 2015 in Bethlehem, PA.
Mitchell of Paterson, New Jersey has a record of 3-6-2 with 1 knockout.

Mitchell has faced five undefeated fighters which includes his last fight  when he lost a decision to Meng Fanlong on September 26 in Beach Haven, NJ

In the 6-round co-feature, Ian Green (8-0,6 KO’s) of Paterson, New Jersey will look to stay undefeated in a 6-round Middleweight bout against Jamie Campbell (11-10, 8 KO’s) of London, England.
Green, who was a top amateur prospect has looked great as he has started his professional career flawlessly.  He is coming off 1st round stoppage over Travis Dickinson on November 14th in Springfield, VA.
Campbell won his first ten bouts.  He has faced world champions Danny Jacobs, Anthony Dirrell and Hall of Famer, Virgil Hill.
In his last bout, Campbell was stopped in 2 rounds by Mike Gavronski on October 13th in Shelton, Washington.
In 6-round bouts:
Arturo Trujillo (7-0, 3 KO’s) of Reading, PA will take on an opponent to be announced in a Welterweight bout.
In 4-round bouts:

The SHOWTIME BOXING on SHO EXTREME telecast begins live at 9 p.m. ET/PT from the Vidéotron Centre in Quebec City prior to that evening’s SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast.  In the SHO EXTREME opener, undefeated heavyweight and former international amateur star Oscar Rivas (17-0, 12 KOs) will face Joey Abell (31-8, 29 KOs) in a 10-round bout.

“I know I’m taking a risk by taking this fight but I’m going to take advantage of this. I really don’t need rest because I’m in the gym anyway. So let’s just get this fight out of the way and I’ll just wait for the world title fight.

 

“I don’t feel pressure. I know what I jumped into when I got into this professional boxing game, and I have a good team around me. We’re a tight circle and very strong, and when the opportunities come, I’ll be ready to take advantage of it.

 

“People are talking about me wanting to fight Errol Spence and getting revenge (on a past U.S. Olympic boxing trials loss). I don’t have revenge on my mind. I mean, we could definitely do it when I move up a weight class, but right now I’m focused on a 140-pound title shot. I want that title shot in early 2016 against (current WBC world champion) Viktor Postol.

 

“(Postol) is a good fighter and he got the title for a reason, but you can’t hide and run for too long and my time is coming next year. You get one defense and then it’s all me. It’s all Young Master.”

MIAMI (November 25, 2015) – Super welterweight world champion and Cuban sensationErislandy “The American Dream” Lara (22-2-2, 13 KOs) successfully defended his title against former world champion and Slovenian Jan Zaveck (35-4, 19 KOs) in a Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN show from Miami’s Hialeah Park Racing & Casino.
Due to weather in the area, the main event was moved up to ensure the fight happened. From the opening bell, Lara controlled the action by landing heavy blows. In the third round, the ref stopped the action with Zaveck against the ropes, unable to continue. The ref called a stop to the fight at :41 into the third round.
In the second televised fight of the evening, Puerto Rican undefeated bantamweight prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez (14-0, 10 KOs) dealt a seventh round knockout toElicer Aquino (17-2-1, 11 KOs) from the Dominican Republic.
In a contest that saw great action out of both corners, Rodriguez ultimately proved to be too much for Aquino. The official stopped the fight at 2:44 into the seventh round.
Here is what the televised fighters had to say about their performances tonight:
ERISLANDY LARA
“I think I handled the pressure well tonight. I stayed in the pocket and fought my fight. This was a great win for me. (Zaveck) is a former champion and he’s never been knocked out until tonight.
“I’m very happy to be back fighting in the Miami area. This is my first time fighting back here since 2009 and I’m glad I was able to put on a good show for the fans. I’m very thankful for the way they showed up to support me tonight.
“I hit (Zaveck) with a great shot to the chin and froze his whole body. He was complaining about pain in his ear and his leg, but the bottom line is I got the win.
“I’ll face anyone they want to put in front of me at 154 lbs, unless it’s Canelo (Alavarez) or (Miguel) Cotto. Then we’ll go up to 160 lbs.”
JAN ZAVECK
“I currently have a sharp pain going from my neck to my shoulder on the right side.
“I knew I could try to fight on and land a lucky punch, but that was a small possibility and it was probably better to stop and fight another day.
“I felt good in there before that. I tried to surprise him by fighting him in close, but I was taking too many punches and he has very good power.
“I have never been injured like this before. It is very strange. The pain is surging.”
EMMANUEL RODRIGUEZ
“As the fight started I could tell Aquino was a strong fighter, but once I started boxing him I knew I could end the fight in the later rounds.
“The plan was to take him into deep waters and make it a long fight. In the seventh round my corner told me to end it and I listened.
“I agree with the stoppage. He was taking too much punishment in there.
“Being a part of a PBC card on ESPN helps take my career to the next level. I’m grateful for this opportunity.
“I’ll fight whoever my promoter and manager tell me to. I’m ready for anyone.”
ELICER AQUINO
“(Rodriguez) was better tonight. It’s nothing more complicated than that. He was a better fighter than me. I take nothing away from him.
“I was never hurt during the fight. He was strong, but I held my ground and was never in trouble. I hit him with some good shots too. He just landed more than I did. That’s my fault.
“I wasn’t frustrated. I just ran into a great fighter and tonight was his night. I will be back. It’s just one fight and a lesson learned.”

Scheduled to appear in a 6-round bout will be undefeated Mykal Fox.

Fox of Forestville, Maryland has a record of 7-0 with 2 knockouts.  The 19 year-old is coming off a 6-round unanimous decision over Juan Carlos Castillo on July 18th in Washington, DC.

Born in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic but fighting out of Brooklyn, Dominguez looks to finish out 2015 with his undefeated record intact and 20 pro wins to his name. This would mark three straight wins in 2015 after he defeated Carlos Rodriguez in February and Mario Macia in May. Prior to 2015, the 29-year-old has picked up victories over German Meraz, Camilo Perez and Jhon Alberto Molina.
The 29-year-old Vicente enters his December 8 bout with two straight victories after knocking out Reynaldo Villamizar and Manuel de los Reyes Herrera. He was undefeated in 26 professional fights before making his U.S. debut in 2012. Born in the Dominican Republic but fighting out of Miami, Vicente will surely be the stiffest challenge yet for the unbeaten Dominguez.
An undefeated prospect out of Santurce, Puerto Rico, Tapia is quickly rising to contender status in the cruiserweight division. Tapia turned pro in 2011 and made his U.S. debut with a first round knockout over Rafael Valenzuela. The 25-year-old has had a busy 2015, picking up four victories inside of the distance including his most recent triumph, a first-round stoppage of Anthony Caputo Smith. He will be opposed by the 33-year-old Wilson out of Philadelphia who enters this fight on a three-bout win streak.
An undefeated prospect out of East Meadow, New York but fighting out of Richmond, Virginia, Aleem comes off of a dominant victory over Oscar Riojas in September. The 22-year-old has racked up three victories in 2015 and will look to end the year in style when he takes on the 24-year-old Galvan.

Crolla stops Perez to win WBA Lightweight title; Abraham gets by Murray to retain WBO Super Middleweight title
San Diego, CA – November, 25, 2015 -This past Saturday, Anthony Crolla realized a lifetime dream as he became the WBA Lightweight champion with a stunning body shot 5th round knockout over defending champion Darleys Perez.
Just before that, Arthur Abraham defended the WBO Super Middleweight title with a split decision over Martin Murray.
Crolla – Perez, which took place in Manchester, England and Abraham – Murray, which originated from Hanover, Germany highlighted a split site championship doubleheader on AWE- A Wealth of Entertainment.
The two continued a string of high quality world title bouts broadcasted on AWE.
“This was a great kickoff to a great day of boxing,”said AWE president, Charles Herring.
“To show two high-quality world title bouts from two different countries fits into what we want to give the fans and that is the best boxing throughout the world.”
Crolla landed the perfect paralyzing shot that ended the fight and sent the Manchester Arena into a frenzy.
 “This is what I have dreamt about since I was a kid,” said Crolla. “To achieve it, well, it is going to take a long time to sink in – I’m absolutely made up. I couldn’t have picked a better setting to have achieved my dream, all my family and friends were in the arena and the fans were incredible.

“The people who have been with me from day one were all there and I am so happy to have done it for them too. It’s a tough time of the year for people to dip into their pockets and pay for tickets so I am grateful to them and I hope they had a great night.

“It’s just under a year since the attack and all that has been well-documented, I promised myself when I was laying on that hospital bed that I would come back stronger than ever and that’s what I have done.

“I knew after a few rounds that he was feeling the pace and he made a few noises when I hit him with some shots, he was sharp though and he was hitting harder than he did last time, I took a few stupid shots early on but I thought I would get to him and it paid off. I felt confident before the fight that I could get him out of there.

“That’s the best body shot I’ve thrown in my career. I was touching him up top and I knew as soon as he went down that he was going to struggle to bet the count. He was sat down for a few minutes after the decision so it caught him perfectly, I’ll look forward to watching it back again and again.

“I am capable of more than that – it was a good finish but it wasn’t a great performance.”

Murray seemed to be more active fighter and landed some big shots throughout the fight.  In round eleven, Murray was deducted a point for holding which seemed like it could have been a deciding factor in the close battle but it did not come into play as Abraham won the debated decision by tallies of 116-111, 115-112 while Murray took a card 115-112.
“Obviously I’m gutted,” said Murray. “I really thought it was my night and when the final bell went – even though we were in Germany – I still thought I had it. I still thought I had done enough. When they said it was a split decision even then I still thought I’d got it.

“I know I’m too good to retire but the way I am feeling now, what can I do? It was my fifth shot. I just can’t keep doing this. I just can’t keep doing it to my family.”

“Training camp has been going great. I spent my first four weeks of camp in Argentina and then the past seven weeks I have been training in Los Angeles. My mindset in this camp hasn’t changed at all now that I am defending my title for the first time.
“Jonathan Oquendo comes from a lower division and has fought great competition. As long as I come in prepared for this fight, Oquendo is just another opponent and doesn’t bother me. I know what I am capable of accomplishing in this fight.
“I am blessed to be on such a prestigious card and I am honored to be a part of it. That’s why training camp has been so long, I must be completely prepared.
“There is no difference to me in winning the interim belt versus the title. When I first won the interim belt I considered myself a champion. To me, I’ve always been a champion.
“I didn’t expect to be fighting Jonathan Oquendo, but they mentioned my name and I want to fight the best fighters out there. I will fight any of the best fighters in the division.
“I know that there are five great champions in this division, and I will fight any of them.
“After the Oquendo fight I hope to fight one more time at 126 against a big-name fighter and then I will move up to 130 pounds. I will fight anyone in the featherweight division.
“The fact that I am the only current champion from Argentina doesn’t affect me. I knew that I would be a world champion since a young age and that’s why I train so hard.
“Growing up in Argentina was very difficult. I am one of eight siblings and the only one who is a boxer. My dad first introduced me to boxing because he was a professional fighter in Argentina. I have been in the gym since I was six years old.
“Since I won the title people have definitely begun to recognize me more in Argentina. I have been known since I was on the Argentinean National Team, but winning the title helped my recognition in the country.
“My nickname is ‘El Forastero’ because that is the name of my horse in Argentina. Besides boxing, I have always been interested in riding horses.”

130th annual USA Boxing New England Championships Hosted by John Ruiz’ Quietman Sports Gym: Finals this Saturday in Plymouth

MEDF0RD, Mass. (November 25, 2015) – The finals of the 130th annual USA Boxing New England Championships, hosted by Quietman Sports Gym, will be held this Saturday night (5 p.m. doors open, 7 p.m. first match) at Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts..
Quietman Sports Gym, located in Medford (MA), is owned and operated by two-time world heavyweight boxing champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz, the first and only world heavyweight champion of Latino heritage.
The 2015 USA Boxing N.E. champions in each weight class of the open division will advance to the USA National Championships.  Below are the pairings for Saturday night’s championship finals:

Undefeated prospect Toka Kahn-Clary Graduates to 10-round fighter

CRANSTON, RI (November 25, 2015) – After his impressive second-round stoppage of Sergio “Cuatito” Lopez (19-10-1, 13 KOs) last Friday night at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, undefeated blue-chip featherweight prospect Toka “T-Nice” Kahn-Clary (17-0, 11 KOs) has officially graduated from an eight to ten-round fighter.
“”My performance was good,” Kahn-Clary looked back on his knockout of Lopez.  “I didn’t do anything to make it a difficult fight.  I was a little concerned that my opponent came in overweight (128 lbs. contract weight but Lopez weighed 132.2 lbs.), but I didn’t think too much of it.  I really wanted to go four or five rounds for some more experience, but I put him down in the second round with a right hook, and took him out. (Lopez was unable to answer the bell for the third round.)

“I’m definitely ready for 10-rounders. (Head trainer) Peter (Manfredo, Sr.) always has me doing a lot of conditioning work. We sparred a lot of rounds for eight-round fights, so I’ve been ready for 10-round fights.  I won’t be fighting again until next year, but I’ll be back in the gym next Monday.”
A decorated American amateur who had a 131-11 record, highlighted by a gold-medal performance at the 2010 National Golden Gloves Tournament, Kahn-Clary passed on a shot to make the 2016 U.S. Olympic Boxing Team, turning pro three years ago.

“I think Toka made a big statement and so did Top Rank (Kahn-Clary’s promoter),” Manfredo added.  “They’re so high on him that they want to put him in a big fight.  I told them to give us a 10-round fight first, maybe in January or February, and then we can talk about him fighting a top guy.  There’s no rush; he’s only 23.
“Toka’s really maturing.  He still doesn’t have ‘man strength’ but he’s getting there.  He always works hard.  He spars hard with bigger guys.  He doesn’t just beat up a sparring partner, he beats up the gym, three or four fighters a session.  And most of the time he’s sparring bigger guys and using big gloves.”
Born in Liberia, the 23-year-old Kahn-Clary is a rising star with lofty expectations.  “I want to compete at the top level,” he explained.  “Next year, I will keep working hard and hopefully fight some decent named opponents.  I’m not ready for the top guys in my division, not yet, but I’ll be there in another year.”

“I had a strong camp. Before I got the title I was in good shape and I took no time off, so I’m ready and I’m going to adjust once I get in the ring. I’m listening to my coach and I’m more than ready to go in and give it my all.”

“Erislandy (Lara) and I are in camp together and we get a chance to train and learn from each other and challenge each other. It keeps me really focused. It’s great being in camp with him and with our coach Ronnie Shields. Being in a championship stable is added motivation, but also added pressure to continue to be the best.”
 
WILKY CAMPFORT
 
On fighting on NBC in Dallas: 
“I’ve been to Texas, but I’ve never been to Dallas. I’m excited but there’s nothing like Florida and Haiti. This fight in Dallas and on NBC is such a great opportunity for me to show the people around the world what I can do.”
On his matchup with Jermall Charlo:
“Charlo is a very young, very talented and very powerful fighter. He’s undefeated and I know he’s going to fight hard to keep his ‘0.’ But I’m just going to go in there and do what I do. I know he’s going have the crowd behind him, being from Texas and all, but I plan to keep the crowd quiet. He has power, but I’ve never been knocked out, so I’m not worried about that. He’s never been in the ring with someone like me.”
On training camp with Will Montero and Milton LaCroix:
“I’ve been training the way that I normally do, because I plan to go out there like I always do. I’m trying not to put too much extra pressure on myself, even though I know this is a title fight. I’m just excited to get out there, put on a show and do what I do best.”
 
ERROL SPENCE
 
On fighting at home in Dallas: 
“It feels great to be fighting at home. I’ve wanted to fight here for a while, so it’s nice that I finally get the chance to. The fight is two days after Thanksgiving, so a lot of people will be back home from school and off of work. I’m excited that a lot of my friends and family will finally get to come out and see me fight live, instead of just on TV. I think the fight is almost sold out so I know I have a lot of support.”
On his opponent, Alejandro Barrera:
“He’s a tough fighter with experience. He has a little bit of power in him. I know he has a good jab and he’s a smart fighter, so I know I need to go in there and be smart. I need to make sure to keep the intensity up and hopefully I can stop him.”
On training camp with Derrick James: 
“This camp has been just like any other camp, except I had a new baby seven weeks ago, Ivy, so she is added motivation for me. Everything has been great and I’ve been training hard and getting my rounds in with sparring. Now I’m just counting down the days before I can put on a show for my hometown crowd.”
ALEJANDRO BARRERA

“I’m very happy that I’ve gotten this fight and it’s a great opportunity to fight in a big city like Dallas. I’m excited to make a name for myself.”
