ZUBOV: I CAME TO DETROIT TO BECOME CHAMPION

Fighters often make excuses when they lose, but with Zubov, there may be some validity. Normally a very active fighter with a high work rate, Zubov appeared listless and sluggish for eight uneventful rounds.
“Life doesn’t always go the way you want. Losing that fight made me stronger. It was a good lesson for me and it was good for my experience to fight on that level. And now I know what it’s like. That will never happen again.”
Zubov will continue his quest for another shot at the big time on Sábado, Noviembre 12, at Salita Promotions’ “Pelea de Detroit” event at the Masonic Temple in Downtown Detroit.

“I only miss my parents, but we talk everyday on Skype or Facetime and they support me all the way. I don’t have many Russian-speaking friends in Detroit. Brock, 35, originally captured his title belt in 2015, by way of an 8-round unanimous decision over Oscar Valenzuela (9-1-1).

Twin brother of fellow 154-pound world champion Jermell, Jermall Charlowill be making the third defense of the super welterweight crown he won last September with a dominant stoppage over Cornelio Bundrage. The 26-year-old is coming off of a career-best, hard-fought decision over crafty former world champion Austin trucha in May in Las Vegas. Training with Ronnie Shields en Houston, Charlo will look to silence Williams and stake his claim as the best in the division.
