Mason “Rock Hard Mighty” Menard is focused and determined like no other time during his career.

Yn y cyd-nodwedd o 10-rownd, super bantamweight prospects Josh “Don’t Blink” Greer (16-1-1, 8 Kos) and Glenn Dezurn (9-1-1, 6 Kos) Bydd yn cyfarfod. In an eight-round featured attraction, light heavyweight Alvin Varmall Jr. (15-0-1, 12 Kos) takes on Charles Foster (15-0, 8 Kos); and in the opening televised fight, super bantamweight Arnold Khegai (11-0-1, 8 Kos) will face Adam Lopez (16-2-2, 8 Kos) mewn bout wyth rownd.

Mae tocynnau ar gyfer y digwyddiad, which is promoted by Greg Cohen Promotions, Hard Hitting Promotions & Devin Haney Promotions, yn costio $125 ar gyfer VIP, $70 am ringside a $50 for general admission and are available at the 2300 Arena Box office or online at www.HardHittingPromotions.com.

“Everything has changed,” said Menard. “The way I eat in my off-time, my team, my management, fy hyfforddwyr, the way I train. Everything.”

The 29-year-old Menard says his home state of Louisiana simply couldn’t offer the level of training he is now getting, working with new trainers Nathan Pipitone, Maurice James and Aaron Navarro, while sparring with world champions.

“I’m in Dallas to better my career,” Menard continued. “Louisiana just doesn’t have what I need to take it to the next level and compete. I’m working hard here and it’s what I need. I’m pushing the tempo and sharpening my skills.”

Fighting live on ShoBox mewn 2016, Menard scored a brutal Knockout of the Year candidate over previously undefeated Eudy Bernardo and got another ShoBox win later that year with an impressive KO over Bahodir Mamadjonov. He then suffered his only loss since 2008, in a short-notice showdown with WBO Lightweight Champion Raymundo Beltran.

He returned from the setback in March 2017 with a decision win, but suffered a serious injury.

“I had a detached front rotator cuff tendon and partial torn biceps tendon. It gave out on me in my last fight in the first round. I’ve had surgery on it, and rehabbed it, and now I’m ready to return to the world stage. I’m in with a good, slick boxer, but my trainers have a game plan and we have been working on a few things that he does, just to be prepared for what’s to come against him. I’ll be ready.”

Menard says the hardest part of preparing to face one of boxing’s most talked-about prospects on national television is the loneliness of missing his two beloved daughters, Demi (8 mlwydd oed) and newborn Amelia.

“I get homesick. I miss my babies back home, but it’ll all be worth it,"Meddai. “It’s my job and I’m going to do it.”

FRISCO, TEXAS (Mai 2, 2018) – Welterweight world champion Errol Spence Jr. received a championswelcome in his hometown Wednesday at Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters at a press conference to discuss his homecoming defense Saturday, Mehefin 16 live on SHOWTIME against unbeaten Carlos Ocampo at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

Spence and Ocampo were welcomed with personalized Dallas Cowboys jerseys and an appearance from Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders at The Star as Spence prepares to make his first hometown world title defense. He last fought in Dallas in November 2015 but will now have a chance to excite his hometown fans in the first boxing event to take place inside Ford Center.

Mae tocynnau ar gyfer y digwyddiad, which is promoted by TGB Promotions in association with Man Down Promotions, mynd ar werth dydd Gwener, Mai 4 yn 10 a.m. CT and can be purchased at www.SeatGeek.com.

Here is what the press conference participants had to say Wednesday from the Dallas Cowboys Headquarters Atrium Interview Room at the Star:

ERROL SPENCE JR.

“Mae hwn yn gyfle mawr i mi. This has been a lifelong dream of mine. I can’t wait to fight in front of my hometown fans that have been rooting for me since the amateurs. It’s great to bring this event to Ford Center. I’m happy to defend my title against a great contender like Ocampo and I hope everyone comes out and supports their champion.

I don’t think there’s any extra pressure fighting in my hometown. It’s just added motivation. Real pressure was fighting against 30,000 fans in the champion’s hometown for my first title against Kell Brook. This is me fighting in front of people who love me and who have seen me grow up as a boxer. I can’t wait to put on a show for them.

Everybody poses a challenge in the ring. Ocampo is tough. He’s young and this is something he’s been fighting for his whole life. I know he’s coming to fight. Mexican fighters have a great tradition. They come to fight and they don’t back down. I know he’s going to give it his all and that gets me motivated.

My motto is ‘Man Downand I have to live up to it. I don’t go in looking for the knockout, but I let it happen naturally. I let it come to me and we’re definitely going to let it happen on fight night.

I feel like I’ve definitely earned this hometown fight. To go to another country and fight a champion in his hometown, and to win the belt, I think I deserve to defend my belt in front of my fans.

It’s going to be a great feeling being at this venue on fight night. When I was a kid, I thought I was going to be playing for the Cowboys. So this is just going to be a wonderful opportunity. I’ve already talked to a lot of Cowboys players who are excited to come see me fight.

I do believe I’m the best welterweight in boxing right now. I’ve been trying to prove it for a long time. I’m never looking past anyone, but I’d love to fight Danny Garcia, Shawn Porter and when he’s back, Keith Thurman. I’m ready to fight the best in the division and prove I reign supreme over all of them.

CARLOS OCAMPO

I know that this is a great opportunity to be fighting here in Spence’s hometown. That’s a plus for me and it motivates me. I’m going to be ready to fight for 12 rowndiau.

It’s supposed to be tough with the crowd against me and I know I’m the underdog, but my mind is only on the fight. I’m just fighting one man, not a whole crowd. I know that I have what it takes.

Spence is a very smart and tough fighter, but he doesn’t scare me. I’ve been working for this for too long and I will be 100 percent ready to win.

I’ve had a very tough preparation and a very long camp. We’ve been sparring southpaws to prepare and so far everything has been smooth.

Being here I am even more excited and more motivated to push hard these last weeks of training camp and come into this fight at my absolute best.

I have been the underdog before and I’m prepared to once again overcome that. I’m not worried about what anybody else thinks of me or this fight. My mind is only on winning and being prepared to do whatever I have to.

He can talk about knocking me out all he wants but I’m here too and I’m ready to knock him out on June 16.

DERRICK JAMES, Hyfforddwr Spence yn

Being at home, this fight is going to be about Errol keeping his focus and staying task. He’s always been able to do that. He’s motivated and driven. He’s the guy that you have to drag away from the gym.

I never looked ahead to moments like this with Errol, from the beginning we just grinded away day by day. I was focused on enhancing his skillset and that’s what we’re still doing to this day.

I’m able to keep my feelings bottled up until after a fight, because being at home there can be a lot of distractions. But of course, this event being here in Dallas is phenomenal. I’m most excited that my two daughters will be able to come to the fight.

Errol has been training extremely hard like he always does. On the first day of sparring he did 15 rowndiau gyda [WBC 154-pound champion] Jermell Charlo and [unbeaten light heavyweight] Adrian Taylor.

The two of us just have to stay focused and everything comes naturally. It’s going to be a great show for this city and a great night for Errol.

STEPHEN ESPINOZA, Llywydd, Sports and Event Programming, Showtime Networks, Inc.

SHOWTIME is the home of the biggest fights and brightest stars in boxing, so we are particularly thrilled to be here at the home of the best professional franchise in sports, the Dallas Cowboys. We’re proud to be bringing the first boxing event ever inside of the Ford Center and we can’t wait to show off these facilities on SHOWTIME in June.

This is the first world title fight in Dallas in quite some time and I can’t think of anyone better to bring that here with than Errol Spence Jr. It’s fitting that the NFL Draft was here last week, because I think that if boxing had a draft, there’s a good argument Errol Spence Jr. would be the number one pick. He’s top pound-for-pound champion, he’s a popular draw and he’s in boxing’s most talent-rich division. He has the ‘Trainer of the Yearin his corner and has won 10 straight fights by knockout, from contender to champion. That is the sign of a truly great fighter.

The great thing about boxing and for Carlos Ocampo, is that none of those accolades matter on June 16. Rankings, opinions and belts don’t matter. It’s just two guys in a ring and only one man will win. He’s spent his whole life working for this opportunity and I believe that will make this an exciting event.

As a Texas-native, I know that Dallas is a football town, it’s a good town for all sports but at its heart, Dallas is a football town. But I have great confidence that on June 16, Dallas will be a great boxing town as well.

TOM BROWN, Llywydd TGB Promotions

With IBF Welterweight World Champion Errol Spence Jr. making his homecoming debut at this great venue, the Headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys, I know that this is going to be a hot ticket and one you’ll want to purchase right way.

A lot of hard work went into getting this event together at this great venue and we’re thrilled to be working with the team here at Ford Center to bring it to the fight fans of this city.

Errol Spence is one of most talked about fighters in the sport. Many consider him the best welterweight and perhaps the best fighter in the world. He’s also made it known that he’s willing to prove that and fight the best in the division. But he can’t afford to look past this young undefeated challenger from Mexico, in Carlos Ocampo. He’s fought his whole life for this opportunity and is here to make the most of it. It’s going to be a great night and a great homecoming for Errol Spence Jr. on June 16.

STEPHEN JONES, Chief Operating Officer of the Dallas Cowboys

These are two really special young men on this stage and this is the kind of event that we had in mind when we opened The Star. To be able to have great athletes like these as part of unique events at The Star is something we’re very excited about.

We like to create versatility for this venue and we want to bring all types of sporting events here. This doesn’t happen without the city of Frisco and the Frisco independent school district. We’re also honored to partner with TGB Promotions and Premier Boxing Champions for this groundbreaking announcement.

It’s known how energetic the sport of boxing is, but to be able to host Errol Spence Jr. and have him represent our city will be an unforgettable experience for all. Carlos Ocampo is a quality opponent who is also unbeaten. I admire both of you men and I look forward to watching you on June 16.

The main event will be televised live on SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION (10 p.m. ET / PT) and will also feature highlights of Unified Women’s Middleweight Champion Christina Hammer as she defends her WBC & WBO Titles in her U.S. debut against former world champion Tori Nelson.

The 23-year-old O’Quinn says he’s eager to get in the ring at this historic event.

“I’m excited because this will be my first eight-rounder. I feel good that I’m getting closer to 10- and 12-round fights and a world title shot. I know it will happen, but I have to work my way up to the big fights and get noticed more first. Mae hyfforddiant yn mynd yn dda. I was already working out before I found out I was fighting. I was already in good shape, so now we’re stepping it up and getting in serious shape.”

O’Quinn, from the West Side of Detroit in the Plymouth And Greenfield area, enjoys intense popularity among Motown boxing fans, which gives him extra motivation to impress.

“It’s a great feeling hearing my name being chanted by hundreds of people when I come out. It’s what I love and I appreciate that my fans stand behind what I’m doing. I have a great team behind me and great fans.”

A decorated former amateur boxer, O’Quinn won the USA National Championship at bantamweight and the 2013 USA Boxing Youth National Championships. He says it’s that amateur pedigree that gives him his high “boxing IQ” in the ring and makes him so adaptable to any style.

“I have such great management and promoters, I know whoever I fight will be the best for my career, so it doesn’t really matter. Everybody knows I’m always in shape an I’ll be in even greater shape this time. It’s a big show, so I’m doing more of everything to get ready.”

“Ja’Rico O’Quinn is one of the best Bantamweight prospects in the country,” said his promoter, Dmitriy Salita. “His speed, skills and exciting style make his fights very entertaining. His fan base grows with each fight and I believe that Ja’Rico has the skills to join the list of fighters that brought glory to the great boxing city of Detroit.”

JOE MESI: “I have so many people to thank for this honor. I’m a Buffalonian. There’s nobody more in favor of one New York, but it’s not. Mae hyn yn arbennig i mi oherwydd dyna Oriel Anfarwolion Bocsio Talaith Efrog Newydd. Mae hyn yn fy solidoli ac yn gwneud i mi feddwl nad bachgen lleol ydw i. Roedd anfantais enfawr yn dod o ddinas fach, nid oedd sparring yr un peth ag yng nghampfeydd Dinas Efrog Newydd, ond cefais fantais yn dod o Orllewin Efrog Newydd. Nid oedd neb yn gwella fel y gwnaethom yn Buffalo gyda 10,000, Yna, 16,00 ac yn olaf 18,000 pobl. Roedden nhw bob amser y tu ôl i mi ac rydw i'n rhannu hyn gyda nhw oherwydd bod eu cefnogaeth wedi fy ngwneud i. Fy mreuddwyd oedd ymladd yn Buffalo a pharhau i ymladd yno.
“Un o uchafbwyntiau fy mywyd oedd ymladd yn erbyn Monte Barrett ar HBO yng Ngardd Madison Square. Roedd yn un o'r diffoddwyr mwyaf yn y byd a frwydrodd am deitl y byd. Roeddwn bob amser eisiau cael fy nheitl byd yn cael ei saethu, ond ni chefais i mohono erioed. Mae hynny'n iawn, Ychydig a chwerwais am ychydig, ond allwn i ddim bod yn hapusach gyda fy ngyrfa. Y rhan orau o focsio yw'r frawdoliaeth rydyn ni'n ei rhannu.

RON SCOTT STEVENS: “Rwy'n gwybod bod pobl bob amser yn ei ddweud, ond dyma'r gwir: Mae arnaf gymaint o bobl sydd wedi fy nghefnogi trwy gydol fy ngyrfa. Mae bocsio bob amser wedi bod adref oddi cartref i mi a heddiw rwy'n teimlo fy mod adref.
“Roeddwn yn 30, yn byw yn Brooklyn Heights, ac yn ôl yn gyrru tacsi yn aros ar fyrddau. Aeth golau i ffwrdd yn fy mhen: paffio yw camp yr isdog ac rwy'n isdog. Drannoeth es i i Gleason’s Gym – canol y bydysawd. Gwneuthum fy ffordd o amgylch yr holl gampfeydd yn y ddinas, cyfarfod hyrwyddwyr, rheolwyr a hyfforddwyr. I started making matches for promoters and then Cedric Kushner hired me from 1980-2002. Yn 2002, I got a call to work for the New York State Athletic Commission as its Community Co-Ordinator and Director of Boxing. Yna, I was made chairman and I served two terms. Heddiw, I’m extremely proud to be part of the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame.

BOB GOODMAN: “I can’t believe this crowd. In order to do what we do, the sacrifices and support you get from your family is so important and (in Goodman’s case) was for so many years. They allowed us to do what we do. All of us love boxing!”

(L-R) – Ray Mercer, Penny Allen, I'r ysgol, Clay Jenkins and Bob Duffy
AL COLE: “I thought boxing was the stupidest and dumbest sport ever. Who wanted to get punched in the face? I started boxing late. Chwaraeais o gwmpas rhai a dywedodd pobl fy mod yn eithaf da. Dechreuais focsio pan oeddwn i 20, yn y Fyddin, wedi'i leoli yn Ft. Hood. Bedair blynedd yn ddiweddarach, Roeddwn i ar y Tîm Olympaidd. Y rheswm pam oedd gen i bartner sparring gwych, Ray Mercer. Pe bawn i'n mynd i fod yn y cylch bob dydd gyda Ray, Roeddwn i naill ai'n mynd i gael fy curo i fyny, neu wella.
“Rwy'n cofio Bob Arum yn rhoi ei gerdyn busnes i mi. Nid oeddwn yn ei adnabod. Dim ond tri pherson roeddwn i'n eu hadnabod ym myd bocsio: Don Brenin, Muhammad Ali ac Sugar Ray Leonard. Doeddwn i ddim yn dilyn bocsio a’r unig reswm i mi focsio oedd y byddwn i wedi gorfod cysgu yn y coed pe na bawn i wedi gwneud hynny (yn y Fyddin). Paffio yw: ei daro, cyn iddo fy nharo.”

(L-R) – Bobby Cassidy, Jr, Jaime Drubin a Pete Brodsky
PETE BRODSKY: “Rwyf am ddiolch i'r bwrdd. Rydw i'n mynd i fod 70 a dechrau bocsio pan oeddwn i 18. Fe greodd gyfeiriad newydd yn fy mywyd. I’m so proud to be in company with guys who didn’t just talk it, they loved it. If you really love this sport, you really have to learn it. Any man who stepped in the ring, plus all the roadwork, time in the gym and sacrificing what they eat, did it to be the best they can be.
“Yn bocsio, you’re not going to win every fight, but whether a fighter wins or loses, if he gives 100-percent, he’s a winner. They work a job, run five miles day, workout at the gym, and then went home to spend time with his family. Friends and family always have your back.

(L-R) – Pobl Darryl & Melvina Lathan
MELVINA LATHAM: “I’m speechless. It’s wonderful. Randy (former NYSAC chairperson Gordon), do you remember this story? There were only three judges and, yn anffodus, one called in sick. I was sitting at ringside with no responsibilities. Randy said I had to workheno. I said that I wasn’t licensed and couldn’t do it. Randy said, ‘Raise your right hand’, and it was on. I was thrown in there, but it was okay.
My greatest accomplishments are my children and husband. I couldn’t ask for a better situation. A Ralph Petrillo is part of my family; he was my second in command. I also had the best officials: deputy commissioners, inspectors, judges and referees. I wouldn’t be here with without them. Bob Duffy put this whole thing together. I personally think he’s amazing. My journey continues, I am blessed.

Undefeated Puerto Rican Bantamweight Manny Rodriguez Ready for Former World Champion Paul Butler This Saturday at 02 Arena

Bantamweight contender Emmanuel “Manny” Rodriguez and his team have landed safely and ready to face former world champion Paul “Baby Faced Assassin” Butler for the vacant IBF World Championship, dydd Sadwrn, Mai 5, at the O2 Arena in London.

Presented by Matchroom Boxing, Rodriguez (17-0, 12 Kos), o Puerto Rico, and Butler (26-1, 14 Kos), 29, Lloegr, will meet in a 12-round supporting bout to the all-British rematch between former World Heavyweight Champions Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 Kos) and David Haye (28-3, 26 Kos).

Rodriguez almost had his very promising boxing career derailed for a time by an unfortunate car accident in which he burned 66% of his body. After a long rehab, he returned, and went on a, hyd yn hyn, 17-fight tear through the professional ranks.

The 25-year-old was the mandatory contender to face former champion Ryan Burnett, who chose to relinquish his belts. This allowed for Butler to slide into the fight for the unclaimed belt.

29-year-old Butler previously held the IBF belt, but before defending it, elected to drop down in weight to face then-champion Zolani Tete… and was stopped in the eighth round. He has won nine fights since.

“It has been a long road to this fight, but I am ready to win my first world championship,” said Rodriguez. “Paul Butler is a good fighter, ond gall dim stopio fi. I have worked too hard to get here. It doesn’t matter that we’re in his backyard. I’ve done everything right getting ready for this and I look forward to bringing the belt back to my beloved country of Puerto Rico.”

Rodriguez’ co-promoter, Leon Margules y Rhyfelwyr Bocsio, says a star will be born Saturday night.

“Manny has always been a superstar in the making. I am happy he is finally getting the chance to shine in front of a large audience, worldwide. I have no doubt he will win impressively and set himself up for several big showdowns in the near future.”

NEW YORK – April 30, 2018 – Prolific combat sports broadcaster Mauro Ranallo and his lifelong battle with mental illness are the subject of a new documentary film from SHOWTIME Sports®. BIPOLAR ROCK ‘N ROLLER – named for the moniker Ranallo gave himself as a broadcast personality and DJ in the early 90’s – will premiere on SHOWTIME during Mental Health Awareness Month on Friday, Mai 25 yn 9 p.m. ET / PT.

First look video: https://s.sho.com/2Ft4Mig

Ranallo has Bipolar Affective Disorder, a condition afflicting nearly five percent of the U.S. population according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI.org). As a national sportscaster for preeminent boxing, mixed martial arts and WWE events, Ranallo has long been an advocate for ending the stigma of mental illness. Nawr, am y tro cyntaf, he exposes the true extent of his daily struggle. Through extensive behind-the-scenes video footage, candid personal interviews and detailed accounts from his loved ones and doctors, BIPOLAR ROCK ‘N ROLLER takes an unflinching look at mental illness and its effects.

The film explores Ranallo’s career, including his work on the two biggest pay-per-view events in television history, and his relentless pursuit of a childhood dream despite seemingly insurmountable odds. Through this deeply personal portrait, Ranallo hopes that the film might inspire others to persevere in pursuing their dreams despite the challenges of a mental health condition.

“I have always tried to do my part to bring awareness to mental health issues,” said Ranallo. “Over the last several years, I allowed my best friend, Haris (Usanovic), to film me at my lowest points as well as at my highest. The idea is simply to show others who suffer that they are not alone and that, even when the outlook is bleak, you can overcome and achieve success. Mental illness is a life sentence—there is no cure—but it doesn’t have to be a death sentence.”

“Through BIPOLAR ROCK ‘N ROLLER, Mauro Ranallo has chosen to share not only his life’s dreams, but his nightmares as well,"Meddai Stephen Espinoza, Llywydd, Sports and Event Programming for Showtime Networks Inc. “Having reached the pinnacle of his profession, Mauro bravely turns his keen observational skills inward to examine his own life-long battle. The result is a raw, poignant and ultimately inspirational film that personifies Mauro’s courage and selflessness.”

Ranallo is a popular fixture on today’s combat sports scenes. In a career that has spanned more than 30 flynyddoedd, he has called everything from “All-Star Wrestling,” a Canadian professional wrestling outfit, to historic MMA events for PRIDE FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS out of Japan, to WWE SmackDown Live on USA Network, to many of the biggest boxing events in the world for SHOWTIME Sports. Ranallo was the first broadcaster to call play-by-play on boxing, kickboxing, MMA and professional wrestling events on national television.

Heddiw, Ranallo is the voice of three prominent nationally televised series: Showtime PENCAMPWRIAETH BOCSIO®, WWE’s weekly show NXT on WWE Network, ac BELLATOR MMA on Paramount Network. Perhaps best known for his dramatic, excitable style, Ranallo is a student of the English language. He has already made a lasting mark on the industry having called the two biggest pay-per-view events in television history: Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao (Mai 2015, international telecast); a Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor (Awst. 2017, Showtime PPV®).

BIPOLAR ROCK ‘N ROLLER is produced by Brian Dailey, the network’s Vice President, Sports Digital Content and Strategy, and MALKA MEDIA GROUP. Directed by first-time filmmaker Haris Usanovic, the film is executive produced by Stephen Espinoza and SHOWTIME Sports.
