Hartford Boxing Promotions Announces inaugural show “Fight Night at the Capital”

HARTFORD, Conn. (Maj 3, 2018) -Hartford Boxing Promotions has announced its inaugural event, “Fight Night at the Capital”, to take place Saturday night, Jun 16, at Xfinity Centre in Hartford, Konektikat.

 

 

Boxing trainer Tony Blanco and his Hartford Boxing Center gym partner, Michael Tran, have teamed with their undefeated light heavyweight prospect, Richard “Popeye The Sailor Man” Rivera (7-0, 6 KOs), to form Hartford Boxing Promotions.

 

 

“I’m excited about the entire card and providing a platform for some of the best amateurs in recent Connecticut boxing history to fight,” Blanco said. “‘Popeye’ is in the main event. He’s sparred against world champions and each experience has given him more confidence. He’s on his way to greatness. We’re also showcasing (‘The Special One’) Sharad Collier in his pro debut. This kid is something special. Richard is exactly what Hartford needs, somebody youngster can look up to as a role model. ‘Popeye’ is exciting to watch and very popular. Sharad is going to be like that, suviše.

 

 

“I’m thrilled to partner with Richard and Michael to bring boxing back to Hartford, which is a hotbed for boxing, and it has a rich boxing history. There’s a lot of talent here right now and fans will see that June 16th.”

 

 

Boxing’s roots in the Hartford market dates back nearly a full century, headlined by International Hall of Famers Willie “Will o’ the Wisp” Pep i Christopher “Battling” Battalino. Other top-area boxers include world champion Marlon “Magic Man” Starling, titulu svjetskog prvaka Challengers Gaspar “El Indio” Ortega i Izrael “radije” Cardona, i 1996 USA Olympic Boxing Team captain Lawrence Clay-Bey.

 

 

The hardest hitter in New England, rising star Rivera will defend his Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) New England light heavyweight title in the eight-round main event versus an opponent to be determined.

The 21-yer-old Collard, fighting out of Hartford like Rivera, will be competing in the National Golden Gloves Championships, starting May 14th in Omaha, Nebraska, before returning home to turn pro in a four-round Special Junior Welterweight Attraction versus Carlos Galindo (0-2), Woburn, Masačusets.

 

 

“Tony is like my second father and I’m grateful to him for allowing me to make my pro debut in my hometown,” Collier remarked. “I’m bringing a big fan-base and I’m going to put on a show. I’m familiar with a lot of fighters on this card. ‘Popeye’ is like my big brother. We train and have traveled together as amateurs. We motivate each other. I’m going to try and get a faster knockout than him June 16th.”

 

 

Undefeated Danbury, CT lightweight Omar “The Beast” Bordoy, Jr. (5-0, 1 KO) in his first scheduled six-rounder vs. Aleksandar “el Bravo” Picot (2-5-1), fighting out of Hartford by way of Puerto Rico.

Mason “Rock Hard Mighty” Menard is focused and determined like no other time during his career.

 

 

 

The lightweight contender moved six hours from his home and two children in Louisiana to train with a new team in Dallas alongside the likes of WBC World Super Welterweight Champion Jermell Charlo and IBF Welterweight Champion Errol Spence Jr.

 

 

 

Menard (33-2, 24 KOs) will face undefeated Devin “The Dream” Haney (18-0, 12 KOs) of Las Vegas for the USBA Lightweight Championship on Friday, Maj 11, in the 10-round main event of the popular prospect series ShoBox: The New Generation quadrupleheader (10 poslije podne. The 29-year-old Menard says his home state of Louisiana simply couldn’t offer the level of training he is now getting, working with new trainers Nathan Pipitone, Maurice James and Aaron Navarro, while sparring with world champions.

 

 

 

“I’m in Dallas to better my career,” Menard continued. “Louisiana just doesn’t have what I need to take it to the next level and compete. I’m working hard here and it’s what I need. I’m pushing the tempo and sharpening my skills.”

 

 

 

Fighting live on ShoBox u 2016, Menard scored a brutal Knockout of the Year candidate over previously undefeated Eudy Bernardo and got another ShoBox win later that year with an impressive KO over Bahodir Mamadjonov. He then suffered his only loss since 2008, in a short-notice showdown with WBO Lightweight Champion Raymundo Beltran.

 

 

 

He returned from the setback in March 2017 with a decision win, but suffered a serious injury.

 

 

 

“I had a detached front rotator cuff tendon and partial torn biceps tendon. It gave out on me in my last fight in the first round. I’ve had surgery on it, and rehabbed it, and now I’m ready to return to the world stage. I’m in with a good, slick boxer, but my trainers have a game plan and we have been working on a few things that he does, just to be prepared for what’s to come against him. I’ll be ready.”

 

 

 

Menard says the hardest part of preparing to face one of boxing’s most talked-about prospects on national television is the loneliness of missing his two beloved daughters, Demi (8 godina star) and newborn Amelia.

FRISCO, TEXAS (Maj 2, 2018) – Welterweight world champion Errol Spence Jr. received a champions’ welcome in his hometown Wednesday at Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters at a press conference to discuss his homecoming defense Saturday, Jun 16 live on SHOWTIME against unbeaten Carlos Ocampo at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

 

 

 

Spence and Ocampo were welcomed with personalized Dallas Cowboys jerseys and an appearance from Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders at The Star as Spence prepares to make his first hometown world title defense. He last fought in Dallas in November 2015 but will now have a chance to excite his hometown fans in the first boxing event to take place inside Ford Center.

JOE MESI: “Moram zahvaliti toliko mnogo ljudi na ovoj časti. Ja sam Bufalonac. Niko više ne podržava jedan New York, ali nije. Ovo je za mene posebno jer je to Boksačka kuća slavnih države New York. Ovo me učvršćuje i čini da mislim da nisam samo lokalni dječak. Došao je veliki nedostatak iz malog grada, sparing nije bio isti kao u teretanama u New Yorku, ali imao sam prednost iz zapadnog New Yorka. Niko se nije snalazio kao mi u Buffalu 10,000, onda 16,00 i na kraju 18,000 ljudi. Uvijek su bili iza mene i to dijelim s njima jer me njihova podrška učinila. Moj san je bio da se borim u Buffalu i da nastavim borbu tamo.
“Jedan od vrhunaca mog života bio je borba protiv Monte Barretta na HBO -u u Madison Square Gardenu. Bio je jedan od najvećih boraca na svijetu koji se borio za svjetsku titulu. Uvijek sam želio postići titulu svjetskog prvaka, ali ja to nikad nisam dobio. To je u redu, Malo sam bio ogorčen, ali ne bih mogao biti sretniji u karijeri. RON SCOTT STEVENS: “Znam da ljudi to uvijek govore, ali ovo je istina: Dugujem toliko ljudi koji su me podržavali tokom moje karijere. Boks je za mene oduvijek bio daleko od kuće, a danas se osjećam kao da sam kod kuće.
“Bio sam 30, živi u Brooklyn Heights, i nazad vozeći taksi čekajući na stolovima. U glavi mi se ugasilo svjetlo: boks je sport underdoga, a ja sam underdog. Sljedećeg dana otišao sam u Gleason's Gym – centar svemira. Kretao sam se po svim teretanama u gradu, sastanak sa promoterima, menadžeri i treneri. Počeo sam praviti utakmice za promotere, a onda me je zaposlio Cedric Kushner 1980-2002. U 2002, Dobio sam poziv da radim za Državnu atletsku komisiju New Yorka kao njen koordinator zajednice i direktor boksa. Onda, Postao sam predsjedavajući i služio sam dva mandata. U ŠKOLU: “Mislio sam da je boks najgluplji i najgluplji sport ikada. Ko je htio da dobije udarac u lice? Kasno sam počeo boksati. Igrao sam se oko njih i ljudi su rekli da sam prilično dobar. Undefeated Puerto Rican Bantamweight Manny Rodriguez Ready for Former World Champion Paul Butler This Saturday at 02 Arena

Bantamweight contender Emmanuel “Manny” Rodriguez and his team have landed safely and ready to face former world champion Paul “Baby Faced Assassin” Butler for the vacant IBF World Championship, ove subote, Maj 5, at the O2 Arena in London.

 

 

 

 

Presented by Matchroom Boxing, Rodriguez (17-0, 12 KOs), Portoriko, and Butler (26-1, 14 KOs), 29, Engleske, will meet in a 12-round supporting bout to the all-British rematch between former World Heavyweight Champions Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KOs) and David Haye (28-3, 26 KOs).

 

 

 

 

Rodriguez almost had his very promising boxing career derailed for a time by an unfortunate car accident in which he burned 66% of his body. After a long rehab, he returned, and went on a, do sada, 17-fight tear through the professional ranks.

 

 

 

The 25-year-old was the mandatory contender to face former champion Ryan Burnett, who chose to relinquish his belts. This allowed for Butler to slide into the fight for the unclaimed belt.

 

 

 

29-year-old Butler previously held the IBF belt, but before defending it, elected to drop down in weight to face then-champion Zolani Tete… and was stopped in the eighth round. He has won nine fights since.

AGUASCALIENTES, MX (April 30, 2018) – This past Saturday, šećer Promocije presented “FERIA de CAMPEONES”, an eleven bout card from Aguascalientes, Meksiko. U 12-okrugli Main Event, super srednjoj kategoriji Bruno Sandoval (20-2-1, 16 KOs), who recently signed with Sugar Promotions, picked up a first round TKO over Devis Caceres (28-9-3, 19 KOs) capturing the WBC Latino Silver Super Middleweight title in the process. A powerful right hook landed flush on the face of Caceres, završava borbu na 2:50 znak u prvom krugu, as Sandoval claimed the vacant title in style.

Zapravo, all three of Buitrago’s career losses as a professional have been to world champions, including a pair to Thammanooon Niyomtrong (11-0) u 2016 i 2014, both by way of 12-round unanimous decisions in Thailand for the Interim WBA title. Buitrago also fought a 12-round split draw in 2013 to then WBO Minimum World Champion Merlito Sabillo (12-0) in Manila, Filipini.
