USA Boxing’s Elite High Performance Team Concluded World Boxing Championship 2025 With Nine Medals

USTI NAD LABEM, República Txeca (Juny 15, 2025) -Team USA’s Elite High Performance roster picked up nine medals to close out the World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem this past Saturday. Yoseline Perez (dones 54 kg) and Alyssa Mendoza (dones 57 kg) led the way for the USA with gold medals in their respective weight classes, marking the first international gold medals of 2025.

Perez got things started this morning for the Red, White and Blue, earning a 4-1 victory over England’s Charley Davidson. The Houston, Texas native has been notable this year with top two finishes in each of her international competitions in 2025. At the World Boxing Challenge 2025, Perez secured two unanimous decision victories in three appearances to close an incredible week in the Czech Republic. This gold medal marks the first of Perez’s Elite international career for USA Boxing.

Mendoza secured her first medal of the calendar year while in Usti Nad Labem, and she did so in a dominant fashion. She earned two unanimous decisions and one 4-1 split decision victory in her three bouts on the week. One of her unanimous decisions came in Saturday’s championship bout over Mongolia’s Michidmaa Erdenedalai, a Paris 2024 Olímpic.

Three other Team USA boxers also competed on Saturday, Juny 14, each of whom claimed silver medals at the 2025 World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem. Marie Angelis Rosendo (dones 70 kg) and Malachi Georges (homes 90 kg) earned the first international medals of their careers. Kelvin Watts (homes 90+ kg) secured his first silver medal of 2025, marking his second career international medal.

The Stars and Stripesnine medals conclude the 2025 World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem, and the team will now travel to Astana, Kazakhstan, for the second World Boxing Cup of 2025. Team USA will be represented by 12 boxejadors, six male and six female, at the World Boxing Cup: Astana 2025. The event will take place from June 30 to July 7.

USA Boxing is led by head coach Billy Walsh (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and assisted by National Resident Coach Timothy Nolan (Rochester, N.Y.), Nicole Burleson (Bethany, Oklahoma.), and Eric Zimmerman (Alexandria, Va.).

Four Boxers Advance to Gold Medal Matches on Day Three of World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem

Four Team USA Boxers Close Friday With Bronze Medals

USTI NAD LABEM, República Txeca (Juny 13, 2025) -Team USA tied a bow on day three of the World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem 2025 with four boxers earning bronze medals and four more athletes advancing to the gold medal rounds. Yoseline Perez (dones 54 kg), Alyssa Mendoza (dones 57 kg), Malachi Georges (homes 90 kg) and Kelvin Watts (homes 90+ kg) stamped won on Friday. Looking ahead to Saturday’s finals action, Team USA will see five boxers contesting for gold medals at the World Boxing Challenge.

Rene Camacho (homes 65 kg), Robby González (homes 80 kg), Jajaira González (dones 60 kg) and Morelle McCane (dones 65 kg) concluded their respective weeks with bronze medals on Friday. McCane’s latest bronze marks her second internationally this year, following her outing at the World Boxing Cup: Brasil 2025. Camacho finished his impressive week with his first Elite international medal after two wins in three appearances. Gonzalez secured her medal in her first international competition of 2025, while Gonzales finished the week with a 1-1 record for his first podium placement of the year.

Mendoza nabbed a 4-1 statement victory over Brazil’s Jucielen Romeo, avenging her loss to the Brazilian at the Paris 2024 Jocs Olímpics. In addition to her latest victory, the Caldwell, Idaho, native also defeated Hungary’s Vladislava Kukhta on Thursday. Following Saturday’s performance, Mendoza has guaranteed herself at least a silver medal. She will now take on Mongolia’s Michidmaa Erdenedalai on Saturday in bout four.

"Em sento genial,” Mendoza stated. “It was definitely a really tough bout, someone that I’ve shared the ring with before [que és] always a tough competitor but we were able to pull off the victory today. I’m feeling good and we’re going into the silver and gold match tomorrow.”

Perez advances to the gold medal match in the women’s 54-kg division after garnering her second 5-0 decision of the week, this time against Hungary’s Hanna Lakotar. She will now compete in her second gold medal bout of the year and is riding a wave of confidence heading into her final matchup of the week. She will square off against England’s Charley Davidson in bout three.

Among the Team USA men’s contenders, Georges continued his remarkable week with a 4 1 win over Moldova’s Andrei Zaplitnii on Friday. In his two bouts, Georges has consistently dominated from the opening bell and enforced his powerful game on his foes. He will take on Brazil’s Isaias Filho in bout 18.

“I feel good,” said Georges. “I’m making it deep in this tournament. I’m here for the gold. Demà, I’ve got a guy, revenja, he thinks he’s better than me, but he just caught me at a time when I wasn’t where I need to be mentally. But I’m going to show him tomorrow. We’re on to the next one, getting that gold.”

Watts opened his tournament on Friday against Mexico’s Alejandro Cruz and imposed his size and power from the beginning of the bout. The super heavyweight has been hard at work this year and is guaranteed at least a silver medal at the World Boxing Challenge. Watts is focused on closing his week strong against Italy’s Diego Lenzi, a Paris 2024 Olímpic, in bout 19.

In addition to the four Team USA winners from Friday, Marie-Angelis Rosendo will make her tournament debut on Saturday in the women’s 70-kg weight class against Brazil’s Barbara dos Santos in bout seven. Rosendo is making her Elite international debut for the USA and is intent on showing out on the world’s stage.

Team USA Sends Seven Boxers to the Medal Rounds Thursday at World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem 2025

USTI NAD LABEM, República Txeca (Juny 12, 2025) -Team USA dominated day two of the World Boxing Challenge Grand Prix Usti Nad Labem 2025, securing seven wins and seven medals on Thursday. Two Team USA competitors secured their first international medals, while four key veterans secured their first international wins of 2025 during Thursday’s action.

Rene Camacho (homes 65 kg) and Malachi Georges were standouts during Thursday’s competition. Both boxers earned unanimous decisions in the quarterfinals, securing their spots in the medal round and their first international medals along the way. Camacho secured his second victory in the event after taking down Brazil’s Carlos Patrique Souza. The Houston, Texas, native will now look to secure a berth in the gold medal round but will need to defeat Japan’s Shion Nishiyama to do so. Georgesimpressive win over Hungary’s Levente Kiss marked his first international victory, setting up a bout against Moldova’s Andrei Zaplitnii on Friday.

As for the Stars and Stripes’ veterans, Yoseline Perez (dones 54 kg) earned Team USA’s first win of the day, 1 5-0 unanimous decision over Mexico’s Ariadna Jeanette Gil. Perez will now compete in the medal round for the second consecutive tournament, this time against Hungary’s Hanna Lakotar. Més, Rahim Gonzales shined bright against Austria’s Lucky Aimufua and earned a 5-0 win of his own.

Team USA’s three returning Olympians then took the ring and dominated their respective opponents on day two. Alyssa Mendoza (dones 57 kg) and Jajaira Gonzalez (dones 60 kg) each earned unanimous decision victories over Hungary’s Vladislava Kukhta and Italy’s Rebeca Nicoli, respectivament. Morelle McCane (dones 65 kg) nabbed a 4-1 win over Switzerland’s Anna Julia Jenni.

Mendoza will now have a massive showdown with Brazil’s Jucielen Romeu on Friday to decide one half of the gold medal bout. Mendoza and Romeu have a recent history, as Mendoza will seek revenge after Romeu defeated the Caldwell, Idaho, native in the Paris 2024 Jocs Olímpics. Gonzalez will look for her third win of the tournament and will square off against Brazil’s Rebecca Santos on Friday. McCane will take on Hungary’s Luca Hamori during Friday’s slate.

Kelvin Watts (homes 90+ kg) will make his tournament debut on Friday against Mexico’s Alejandro Cruz. Watts is coming off a bronze medal at the World Boxing Cup: Brasil 2025.

USA Boxing finalizes 2022 Youth World Championship Team Members

COLORADO SPRINGS, Volta. (Novembre 7, 2022) — USA Boxing announced today the nine boxers who will represent Team USA in La Nucia, Spain at the 2022 Youth World Boxing Championships. Full team roster can be seen below.

USA Boxing National Developmental Coach Chad Wigle (Colorado Springs, Colo.) will lead the team in Spain, with assistant coaches Gilberto Garza (Sant Antoni, Texas), Blanca Gutierrez (Pacifica, Qualif.), Elizabeth Navarro (Mission, Texas) and Richard Stephenson (Middletown, N.Y.), as well as USA Boxing Strength and Conditioning Fellow Gillian Brennan (Overland Park, Maig.). Additional staff traveling with the team include USA Boxing High Performance Coordinator Morgan Bergquist (Colorado Springs, Colo.), USA Boxing Communications Manager Brian Taylor (Whiteville, N.C.) i el Dr.. Ingrid Carter (Doral, Fla.), who will serve as the Team Physician during these championships.

These Youth World Championships will be the first Youth World Championships attended by Team USA since 2018, where the team won three gold and one bronze medals. The Official Draw will take place on Monday, Novembre. 14, with competition set to begin on Tuesday, Novembre. 15. Finals will be divided into two days of competition on Friday, Novembre. 25 i dissabte, Novembre. 26.

All nine boxers will be making their Team USA international debuts at these World Championships.

89 nations have applied to participate in the tournament, amb 476 male and 208 female boxers registered to compete. Final numbers will be announced at the tournament draw.

Four Team USA Boxers Advance to Finals of 2021 Campionats del Món

BELGRAD, Sèrbia (Novembre 4, 2021)Team USA’s impressive 2021 Elite Men’s World Championships will continue into the finals, as four boxers won their semifinal bouts to advance to their championship bout.

Flyweight Roscoe Hill (Primavera, Texas) kicked off the evening session for Team USA in dominating fashion over his opponent, Akhtem Zakirov, of the Russian Boxing Federation. Hill used his height to his full advantage over Zakirov to take all five judges’ cards every round. Hill will face the 2020 Olympic bronze medalist and 2019 World Championships bronze medalist Saken Bibossinov of Kazakhstan on Saturday.

The American will look to become the first American male featherweight World Champion since Rau’shee Warren accomplished the feat in 2007. Hill is also the first World Championships flyweight male medalist since 2011, when Warren won silver.

Jahmal Harvey (Turó d'Oxon, Md.) picked up his fourth win of these World Championships to secure his spot in the featherweight finals. Harvey, who was facing 2020 Olympian Samuel Kisohurry of France, began the bout extremely strong, taking all five judges’ cards at the end of the round. The American did not slow down in the second, taking all five cards again to have a comfortable lead heading into the final round.

Even with a 3-2 final round in favor of Kisohurry, the 18-year-old American claimed the unanimous decision to set up a final against 2020 Olympian Serik Temirzhanov of Kazakhstan on Saturday.

Rahim González (Las Vegas, Nevada) closed out the evening session with what may end up being the bout of the whole World Championships. Gonzales was faced with the tough task of taking to the ring with Serbia’s own Vladimir Mironchikov.

After seeing the first round go in favor of Mironchikov, 4-1, Gonzales came back strong in the second round, taking the round 3-2. With the bout on the line, the American light heavyweight did not back down and left it all in the ring to grab all five judges’ cards and the final decision, 3-2. Gonzales, who has earned just the fourth light heavyweight World Championship medal since 1974 and first medalists since Michael Simms gold in 1999, will step into the ring on Saturday with Aliaksei Alfiorau of Belarus.

Welterweight Omari Jones (Orlando, Fla.) was scheduled to go head-to-head against Georgia’s Lasha Guruli in the first session of the day, però, Guruli pulled out of the competition due to injury, advancing Jones to the finals against 2020 Olympian Sewonrets Okazawa of Japan, demà.

Jones is now guaranteed either a silver or gold medal in his World Championships debut and becomes the first American male to win a welterweight World Championships medal since Demetrius Andrade won gold in 2007.

Atif Oberlton representant City of Brotherly Love fins al Campionat del Món

COLORADO SPRINGS, Volta. (Agost 22, 2019) – Hi ha una nova força en ascens a l'escena internacional de la boxa i es diu Atif Oberlton, un pes lleuger de Filadèlfia, que té la missió de fer-se un nom en la boxa.

Oberlton competirà al Campionat del Món Elit Masculin, Setembre 7-21, A Yekaterinburg, Rússia.

La manca de confiança no és un problema per al boxejador de 21 anys que afirma, "És molt important per a mi fer-ho bé i guanyar al Mundial, perquè sé amb certesa que, al meu cor, Sóc el millor lluitador del món. També, Sóc nou en l'escena internacional, així que ha arribat el moment de donar una part del que s'han trobat a faltar".

Oberlton va començar a boxar als nou anys, tot i que no va començar a competir fins que ho va ser 14, perquè era l'únic nen de la seva família, i el seu pare volia que aprengués a defensar-se. Com molts dels seus companys, es va enamorar de la boxa.

En els últims cinc anys, Oberlton ha aconseguit medalles d'or a la 2018 i 2016 Guants d'Or Nacionals Torneig, 2018 Qualificació d'elit oriental i 2014 Jocs Olímpics nacionals juvenils. També va ser un vencedor als EUA vs. Països Baixos Dual.

"El meu major èxit fins ara és formar l'equip EUA i estar on sóc, perquè durant anys i anys em van negar, i aquí estic avui al primer lloc on pertanyo. Sóc un lluitador de primer nivell, així que m'ho mereixo, i vaig deixar una feina de primer nivell, també”

Overlton ha aprofitat l'entrenament a Colorado Springs als Estats Units. Centre d'entrenament olímpic, on ha mostrat una millora des del primer dia, perfeccionant les seves habilitats per convertir-se en un boxejador complet.

“El condicionament juga un paper important en la meva millora; també veient diferents estils, i aconseguir la millor feina m'ha elevat,", va parlar sobre la formació com a membre de l'equip EUA. "Sempre trenco noves barreres en el camí cap a la grandesa i això (Els mons) és un altre que estic intentant trencar".

Oberlton és com un camaleó al ring, canviant i adaptant-se constantment al seu oponent. “Considero el meu estil com l'aigua,", va concloure. "És ondulat perquè m'ajusto per guanyar, i puc superar qualsevol estil. Puc ser més astut que qualsevol, lluitant la ment per la matèria. La boxa és un 80 per cent mental, 20-per cent físic, i ho tinc tot.

"El meu objectiu a curt termini és guanyar l'or als Mundials i tota la resta que condueixi als Jocs Olímpics. I guanyar ni més ni menys que l'or als Jocs Olímpics. El meu objectiu a llarg termini és ser el millor lluitador que hagi caminat mai per l'univers".

Definitivament, la confiança no és un problema per a Atif Oberlton.
