Araujo Replaces Jose Romero Who Was Forced To Withdraw Due To Injury



NOVA YORK - (Juny 12, 2019) – Undefeated lightweight prospect Yeis Solano will face a new opponent in former Argentine Lightweight Champion Elias Damian Araujo in an eight-round bout that will open a ShoBox: La Nova Generació tripleheader on Friday, Juny 21 en viu per SHOWTIME a 10 p.m. ET/PT del WinnaVegas Casino a Sloan, Iowa.



En l'esdeveniment principal, southpaw Sebastian Fundora (12-0, 8 KOs) of Coachella, Qualif., faces Hector Zepeda (17-0, 4 KOs) from Tijuana, Mexico in a 10-round super welterweight bout. Solano, (14-0, 10 KOs), is not concerned about the last minute opponent change. “It doesn’t matter who I fight. I trust my team and my skills,"Ell va dir. “I don’t worry about who is across from me. I would have beaten the first guy and I will beat this guy too. I don’t train to beat one fighter specifically. I train to beat all fighters and I make adjustments in the ring. Some fighters get upset when the opponent changes. Not me. Even if my team says they want me to fight a different guy at the weigh-in, my job stays the same.”



Solano is a hard punching 26-year-old from Monteria, Colombia who started boxing at the age of seven; he amassed an amateur record of 118-12. He’s a former WBA Fedebol Lightweight Champion and in 2012 placed third in the Colombia National Games. En la seva última baralla, he scored a five-round stoppage over Jesus Manuel Sandoval in October 2018. He is currently training at Compton Boxing Gym in Compton, Qualif., and is trained by Jose Ponce, Sr. and his son Jose Ponce, Jr.

“Estic emocionat per aquesta baralla,” said Araujo, who is making his United States debut. “My style is aggressive. I have fought four southpaws. I know how to fight them – I like fighting them.



“I checked out videos of Solano. I think he is going to come to fight. He’s training out of Compton, Califòrnia, so he’s going to come more than ready, també. These are the ingredients for a good show.”



Araujo (19-1, 7 KOs) replaces fellow compatriot Jose Romero, who was forced to withdraw from the bout due to an injury. Nicknamed “El Macho,” Araujo, a 31-year-old southpaw from Venado Tuerto, Santa Fe, Argentina, won the interim WBC Latino Lightweight Title with a unanimous decision over Jonathan Jose Eniz in October 2016. He successfully defended it twice before losing it to Javier Jose Clavero in an immediate rematch last June. He trains in Coachella with Freddy Fundora, father and trainer of main eventer Sebastian Fundora. In his last outing in January, Araujo stopped veteran Pablo Rodriguez in four rounds.

FORMER IBF WORLD CHAMPION JONATHAN “SALOMON KING” GUZMAN SIGNS WITH EL MATADOR MANAGEMENT

QUEENS, Nova York (May 15th, 2018) – El Matador Management, Inc. has announced the signing of hard hitting super bantamweight contender, Jonathan “Salomon Rei” Guzmán (23-1, 22 Nocauts). Felipe Gomez will now be managing the career of hard hitting and former IBF World Super Bantamweight Champion Guzman, who hails from Santo Domingo, República Dominicana. Gomez will be working closely with Sampson Lewkowicz (Guzmán’ Promotor) as they jointly look to keep Guzman busy, while guiding him back toward a world title.

 

 

 

Guzman won the IBF World Super Bantamweight Title with an 11-round stoppage over Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 Nocauts) al Japó. Guzman then defended his title against Yukinori Oguni (18-1-1, 8 Nocauts) in Kyoto, Japan losing a 12-round unanimous decision.

 

 

 

“I been out of the ring for over a year now and I know Felipe Gomez can help jump-start my career again.” va dir Guzman. “I see the job he is doing with all his fighters and how he has been keeping them busy. Fortuna Returns with Impressive KO over Formerly Undefeated Cabrera

En dissabte night in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the Sambil Commercial Center in Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, former world super featherweight champion Javier “El Abejón” Fortuna returned to action with an impressive two-round blowout of fellow Dominican Marlyn Cabrera.
In his first fight since a surprise defeat last June to Jason Sosa that cost him his WBA World Super Featherweight Championship, Sort (30-1-1, 22 KOs) dropped Cabrera twice in the second round, eliciting the stoppage. It was Cabrera’s first loss as a professional.
Fortuna’s victory was one of three Sampson Boxing fighters to win Dissabtenit.
Undefeated 21-year-old Dominican super welterweight Jeison “Banana” Rosario (12-0, 9 KOs) destroyed formerly undefeated Carlos Jairo Cruz (ara 17-1, 11 KOs) in two rounds and 22-year-old super featherweight Abraham “Súper” Nova moved his record to 3-0, 2 KOs with a fourth-round knockout over Willy Morillo.
Fortuna looked sharp in his comeback bout, putting the explosive power and speed that makes him one of the most exciting fighters in all of boxing. With the victory over Cabrera in the books, the southpaw former champion will now be looking to regain his championship status.
Fortuna’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, says his fighter has two options to consider for his next fight.
“Next we will either look for an elimination bout for the IBF mandatory contender to fight Jose Pedraza or we will look to face the winner of Jason Sosa vs. Stephen Smith in Monaco on Novembre 12,” va dir Lewkowicz. “Javier wants to be champion again and he’ll fight anyone to get there.”
Rosario, a recent Sampson Boxing signee to a long-term promotional agreement, is a former amateur standout with a wealth of boxing talent. Cruz stood no chance against the Santo Domingo-based slugger.
“Jeison is a future star and I’m happy to have him in my stable,” seguit Lewkowicz. “I will get him a visa to fight in the USA and pay his IRS taxes, which I do for all my fighters.”
Nova, who was born in Carolina, Port Ric, to Dominican parents, va ser 167-11 amb 60 KOs as an amateur, guanyant el 2014 USA Nationals, la 2014 Independent World Cup in the Dominican, Gold at the 2014 Cheo Aponte Tournament, i la 2015 Olympic Qualifiers. He is also a five-time New York Golden Gloves Champion.
“Abraham went some good rounds and got the KO over a veteran with more fights,” va dir Lewkowicz. “I am happy with his performance and with the improvements he continues to show in every fight. He is a strong prospect with a bright future.”

L'artista KO de 26 anys de Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, s'enfrontarà a l'IBF #1 el rival Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 KOs) a Dimecres, Juliol 20, a l'EDION Arena Osaka d'Osaka, Japó, pel títol vacant de pes súper gallo de l'IBF.
Guzmán, que va aturar el dur Daniel Rosas de Mèxic a la vuitena ronda Abril 29 per guanyar aquesta lluita, diu que els seus somnis estan tan a prop de fer-se realitat que gairebé els pot tastar. “He esperat tota la vida per una lluita pel títol mundial i ara ja és aquí,” va dir Guzman. “No puc esperar per pujar al ring i guanyar per a la meva família i el meu país.”
