HALL OF FAMER "THE GOLDEN BOY" OSCAR DE LA HOYAATT DELTA 2024 HALL OF FAME WEEKEND Hall of Fames 35-årsjubileum infaller i juni 6 – 9
KORG, NY – MARS 18, 2024 – International Boxing Hall of Fame och museum, som firar 35-årsjubileum i 2024, är glada att kunna meddela att Hall of Famer "The Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya kommer att delta i mästarnas bankett och andra evenemang som planeras för den 2024 Hall of Fame Induktionshelg inställd på juni 6-9.
”Från OS-guld till världstitlar i sex divisioner, Oscar De La Hoya fångade boxningsfans runt om i världens fantasi,” sa Hall of Fame-direktören Edward Brophy. "Vi ser mycket fram emot att välkomna 'The Golden Boy' tillbaka till Canastota för Hall of Fame's 35-årsjubileum."

De La Hoya slog ett tak 223-5 (153 Kos) amatörkarriär genom att ta lättviktsguld på 1992 OLYMPISKA SPELEN. Han blev proffs samma år och tog sin första världstitel – WBO:s superfjäderviktare – i endast sin 12:e proffsmatch och skulle fortsätta att vinna 10 världstitlar i sex viktdivisioner.

Bland mästarna han besegrade är Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Genaro Hernandez, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga och Hall of Famers Hector Camacho, Julio César Chávez, Pernell Whitaker och Arturo Gatti.

En av de största pay-per-view-attraktionerna i boxningshistorien. De La Hoya gick i pension 2008 med ett proffsrekord på 39-6 (30 Kos). I 2002 han etablerade PR-kraftverk Golden Boy Promotions. I 2014 "The Golden Boy" valdes in i Hall of Fame under hans första valbarhetsår.

En imponerande lista med över 35 boxningsstorheter från USA och utomlands, inklusive klassen av 2024, återvändande Hall of Famers och speciella gäster kommer att delta i Hall of Fame Weekend-firandet.

Klassen av 2024 att hedras inkluderar boxare Ricky Hatton, Ivan Calderon, Diego Corrales (postum), Michael Moorer, Jane Couch, Ana Maria Torres, Luis Angel Firpo (postum), Theresa Kibby (postum), tränare Kenny Adams, chef Jackie Kallen, publicist Fred Sternburg, journalist Wallace Matthews och sändare Nick Charles (postum).
Klassen av 2024 kommer att hedras under Hall of Fame Induction Weekend i juni 6-9, 2024, i "Boxningens hemstad". Många evenemang kommer att äga rum i Canastota och närliggande Turning Stone Resort Casino under hela fyra dagars firande inklusive ringside-samtal, näve avgjutning, matchkväll, 5K ras / kul löpning, boxning autograf kort visa, bankett, parad och introduktionsceremoni.

The living legend retired last December with an incredible 41-6 (33 Kos) pro record, in which he became the only Puerto Rican to capture world titles in four different weights classes, light welterweight through middleweight.

World Boxing Organization Light Flyweight World Champion Tito Acosta 17-1, 17 Kos) will make his first title defense against four-time world title challenger Carlos “Chocorroncito” Buitrago (30-3-1, 17 Kos), Nicaragua, in the 12-round main event.

 

 

 

“This pay-per-view card is a very important opportunity for is to showcase a great event,” Cotto added, “as well as a perfect scenario for Acosta to show the world who he is as world champion.

The 27-year-old Acosta is on a mission to become a Puerto Rican boxing icon like Cotto, Tito Trinidad, Wilfredo Gomez, Hector Camacho, Wilfredo Benitez and so many other greats from this fertile island.

 

 

 

Acosta’s success brings back fond memories for Cotto to when he was in a similar situation as a young world champion. “He does bring back memories for me and he proves that hard work pays off,” Cotto concluded. “Tito is living the dream every boxer has when they choose to box as a living. Now is the most challenging chapter for him to expand his reign and build his legacy.”
