Training Camp: “Everything here has been good. I’m ready to rock and get back in the ring. I’ll have no trouble making weight for this fight. My sparring partners are local guys, some pros, and other amateurs. I like helping up-and-coming fighters who want to turn pro. They have natural speed at 18, 19 anys, but their strength hasn’t fully developed, yet. They learn and I get good work. My No. 1 sparring partner, Limon, has had more than 100 amateur fights. His style is similar to Alamo’s. He’s tall and lengthy, but not as powerful as Alamo. He throws great jabs and boxes well, which will help me when I fight Alamo.

Yomar Alamo:  “He fights off his back foot a lot. He likes to box and is a good counter-puncher.

He’s undefeated but who knows how he wants to fight?  I like razzle-dazzle and I’ll quickly learn what I’m in for.”

Fighting in Alamo’s backyard: “I’m not concerned about that at all. My first fight with RJJ Boxing was in Las Vegas against a local fighter, Chuy Gutiérrez, and I won that fight. I don’t mind fighting in my opponent’s backyard and I’m getting used to it. My last fight was in Reno against a California fighter, who lived a lot closer to Reno than I do in San Antonio. And I fought a local fighter in New Hampshire, when I had a bare-knuckle fight.”

How do you envision this fight going:  “Alamo will go into the fight thinking it’s going to be a boxing match, almost like an exhibition starting the fight. But I’m going to go in strong, like a street fight, banging him around. I’ll catch him with some surprises, throwing hard blows. In the third or fourth round, I’ll start boxing more. Then it’s going to be too much for him, and I’ll take him out in the eighth or ninth round.”

Bout importance: “I think I’ll possibly get a world championship eliminator fight with an impressive victory. I’m a rare, old-fashioned boxer.”

Confident Lenin Castillo About Taking on Marcus Browne and His Undefeated Record

After winning the WBO NABO Light Heavyweight title in the month of April, former Olympian Lenin Castillo, de la República Dominicana, will travel to New York, for the fight that will place him at the door of a world title fight.

Castillo-Browne is a special edition bout of PBC that will air live on FS2 & Fox deportes a 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT.

 

 

 

“I’ve been following Browne’s career for some time. Facing him was something I was waiting for, and now it’s better because he is number two in the WBO. We were both Olympians, so I know that we will give a great fight to keep the fans talking about our division”, va dir Castell, who is stationed in Puerto Rico, under the supervision of veteran trainer Freddy Trinidad, and Yoel ‘Yowy’ González at the Caimito Municipal Gym, located in the capital city of San Juan.

Lenin Castillo grabs WBO Gold in Ponce, Port Ric

Ponce, Port Ric – Former Dominican Olympian Lenin Castillo (18-1-1, 13 Nocauts) won the WBO/NABO vacant light heavyweight title in impressive fashion. Castillo defeated Aaron “Homicide” Mitchell (27-3-1, 21 Nocauts) of Florida by way of technical knockout in the 10th and final round.

 

 

 

 

As a result of the victory, Castillo will now be ranked among the best 175 pound fighters in the WBO.

 

 

 

 

The fight was televised by DIRECTV PR as part of a card promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions at the Complejo Ferial, Ponce, PR.

 

 

 

 

“I am very grateful to my manager Raúl Pastrana from Spartan Boxing Club, Miguel Cotto Promotions and the WBO for making this fight possible with an important title at stake that will place me among the best fighters of my weight,” va dir Castell, “This victory is for my Dominican people, el meu pare, my mom and also for the Puerto Ricans who made me feel at home since I arrived on the island for the fight”.

Filadèlfia, Pennsilvània / Taronja, TAL COM. (Juliol 26, 2016)–Banner Promotions i Thompson Boxing Promocions are pleased to announce the signing of amateur standout Ruben Villato a co-promotional contract.
La 19 year-old Villa of Salinas, California compiled an outstanding record of 166-17 in the unpaid ranks that included two National Junior Golden Gloves titles and two National Golden Gloves championships at 123 lliura.
Ruben did not make the U.S. Olympic team due to his struggles to make 123 pounds in the Olympic Trials. He will campaign as a professional in the featherweight division (126 lliura).
“Estic emocionat, and I have been working very hard to get to this point. I cannot wait to turn professional,” va dir Villa.
“It is very cool to sign with two great promoters. We were offered the opportunity, and we took it.”

Villa began boxing at the age of five when his family, who were big boxing fans, took young Ruben to the gym.
That spawned his amateur career, which saw him reach the number-1 national ranking at 123 pounds and saw him defeat eventual United States Olympian Shakur Stevenson.
“He is a good fighter, and I hope he wins a medal and at some point we can break the tie in our fights against each other. I see that as a big fight down the line in the pros.”
Villa defeated Stevenson in the National Golden Gloves and Olympic Trials.
The 5’6″ Villa is managed and trained by Danny Zamora. Zamora performs the same roles with world-ranked NABA, TAMBÉ, NABF and Boxicino 2014 lightweight champion Petr Petrov.
Villa describes his style as a boxer who uses angles and does not get hit much.
“My boxing influences are a bit of Vasyl Lomachenko and Canelo Alavrez.”
Ruben’s family and friends are not only a big part of his life, but also part of his success.
“My parents started me in boxing, and they have been extremely supportive in this. I also have 4 sisters (Ruben is the 2nd oldest of the 5 nens), and they are very supportive as well. “
Villa has sparred with Petrov, Bruno Escalante and Manuel Avilla, and that has given him a good gage on where he is at as he embarks on his career.
“I do well with those guys. I can hold my own, and those guys are great professionals. It gives me confidence as I start out.”

Split-T Management signs world ranked welterweight Ray Robinson

Nova York, Nova York (Febrer 25, 2016)–Boxing managers Split-T Management are proud to announce the signing of world ranked welterweight contender Ray Robinson a un contracte directiu.

Robinson of Philadelphia, Pennsilvània. té un registre de 20-2 with nine knockouts and is currently ranked number-seven by the WBC.
