You were originally scheduled to face Luis Lopez, but he dropped out last week due to illness. The replacement fighter is Bergman Aguilar of Nicaragua. How do you stay focused on what you need to do to win?

 

 

 

“It’s one of those things that happens in boxing, especially to young guys like myself. I don’t let it affect me. I have a new guy in front of me. That’s how I view it. He’s in my way in what I want to accomplish, which is to win a world title. He’s not going to stop me from getting to that point.”

 

You’ve been sparring with WBA champion Danny Roman. What’s it like to learn from one of the best?

 

 

 

“Every single time I spar with Danny I learn something new. He’s a skillful fighter. A very smart boxer. I love working with him. I’m happy to have him in my corner. He helps me how to think through my punches. He talks to me after we spar and we go over things. It’s great to learn from a world champion.”

 

If boxing wasn’t a career option for you, what would you get yourself into? We hear you’re developing new culinary skills.

 

 

 

“I love everything related to fitness and nutrition. So I think I’d go the nutritionist route or study to become a physical trainer. I’m already learning a lot about nutrition. I cook my own meals. I do my own meal prep. I’m eating a lot of lean meats and vegetables and making them taste great. I get down in the kitchen. I’m learning how to cook on the fly and it’s great. When I go back home to Midland [Texas] to cook for my family, they come away very impressed.”

 

How do you expect to perform on Friday night?

 

 

 

“From when the first bell rings, I’m going to fight my fight. I’m not shooting for a knockout, but if it’s there, M'ho porto. I’m in peak shape right now. Come Friday, it’s showtime.”

FILADÈLFIA, Penn. / TARONJA, Califòrnia. (Juliol 23, 2018) – Junior lightweight Michael Dutchover (10-0, 7 KOs), captivated a sold-out crowd with an electrifying one-punch knockout of Sergio Ramirez (4-3, 4 KOs) Divendres night from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Califòrnia.

The closeout punch, a right hand on Ramirez’s chin, occurred at the :43 marca de la segona ronda.
“I timed it just right,” said the 20-year-old Dutchover. “He came at me with a lazy punch, and I just unloaded that right hand, and he dropped like a fly.”
Dutchover barely broke a sweat in his tenth career win. The Texas native, who conducts his training camps in Los Angeles with trainer and manager Danny Zamora, made his 8-round debut, but clearly didn’t need the rounds to score what is likely his most emphatic win to date.
“You go into every fight expecting a tough challenge,” Dutchover said. “I was ready to go the full eight rounds, but I’m glad I was able to end it early and give the fans something to talk about.”

Undefeated and world ranked Junior Lightweight Erick De Leon shows heart in winning unanimous decision over Adrian Young in New Orleans

NOVA YORK–World Ranked Junior Lightweight Erick De Leon showed the heart of a champion by fighting 9 1/2 rounds with an injured shoulder, but still won just about every round in his ten round unanimous decision over tough veteran, Adrian Young.

The bout took place at The Lakefront Arena in New Orleans and was shown live on ESPN+.

De Leon was knocked down in the 1st round with a left hook. De Leon dislocated his shoulder in that same round, and fought through his injury. De Leon fought well over the next nine rounds. De Leon boxed very well over the final nine rounds to get the victory by scores of 98-91 i 97-92 dues vegades.

De Leon was able to fight on despite the severity of the shoulder injury, which required hospitalization following the fight.

De Leon of Detroit remains undefeated at 18-0-1. Young of Los Mochis, MEX falls to 25-5-2.

“I went into this fight knowing it wasn’t going to be easy, but I had all the tools necessary to walk out victorious. I did just that while facing adversity with one hand. This was just another stepping stone I needed to overcome to get me a shot at a world title in the near future,” va dir De Lleó

FILADÈLFIA – Rising Philadelphia boxing star, Avery Pardal, really made a career breakthrough in 2017. The junior lightweight won four bouts during the year, including two main events, and two national TV appearances. Nova York, N.Y. (Octubre 30, 2017)–Victory Sports & Entertainment is pleased to announce the signing of former IBF World Junior Lightweight Champion Jose Pedraza to a multi-year managerial contract.

Pedraza of Cidra, Puerto Rico compta amb un registre de 22-1 amb 12 nocauts. Pedraza says, “I am very happy to sign with Victory Sports and look forward to the next chapter of my career. They represent a number of up and coming fighters and also work with elite fighters like Badou Jack so I feel that Victory is the right team to lead me back to a world championship.”

En 28 anys d'edat,, Pedraza is a six-year professional and one of the most highly decorated amateurs to come out of Puerto Rico. An Olympian in 2008, Pedraza also won medals in numerous international competitions including silver in the 2009 World Amateur Championships in Milan and gold at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games. Després es va convertir en professional en 2011, Pedraza won his first 19 fights before capturing the IBF Junior Lightweight Championship in only his 20th fight, capturing the belt with a 12-round unanimous decision over Andrey Klimov. President of Victory Sports Rick Torres feels that Pedraza is ready to make a statement at Lightweight, “Jose Pedraza is bar none the best fighter in Puerto Rico and we are extremely proud to welcome him to the Victory Sports family. We feel that Jose can be a force at Lightweight. There are a number of attractive fights in the division, from Jorge Linares to Mickey Garcia, all of which would make great fights for boxing fans.”

“Jose is a tremendous fighter who, at twenty-eight, is still in his physical prime,” explained Victory Sports COO Mike Leanardi. “We are looking to get him back in the ring as soon as possible. Llavors, after a tune-up fight or two, there is no reason Jose won’t be ready to take on the best in the world,” Leanardi continued.

Pedraza joins Victory’s growing stable of fighters including undefeated world ranked contenders Sonny Fredrickson and Tyler McCreary.

“Estic fent el que m'agrada fer i això sempre implica sacrificis. La part més difícil és estar lluny dels amics i de la família i estar lluny de casa. Sabia que mudar-me a Los Angeles era l'opció correcta perquè si vols millorar, sobretot en les classes de pes més baix, aquesta zona és el lloc per estar. Qualsevol dia pots lluitar amb contendents i campions del món, així que ha estat fantàstic per a mi.”

Com veus que baixa la baralla de divendres?

“Puc predir una victòria sòlida per a mi i el meu equip. Vaig a deixar anar els meus cops i estaré actiu. Vaig a treballar fora del jab per obrir les coses i mostraré una defensa millorada. Vaig a veure el millor que he vist fins ara. Això ho sé.”
