Atlanta middleweight Antonio Todd, Jr. Riding high after upsetting WBC No. 10 rated Hugo Centeno

(Gener 26, 2022)** – Last Saturday night in Detroit, Atlanta middleweight Antonio Todd, Jr. registered his career-defining victory, upsetting World Boxing Council (CMB) No. 10-rated Hugo “The Boss” Centeno, Jr. by way of a 10-round majority decision in the main event.

The 27-year-old Todd, fighting out of Atlanta, won on two of the three judges’ scorecards, 97-93 i 96-94, as the other had it a 95-95 dibuixar. More impressive was Todd defeating a fighter who is under contract to the event promoter, Dmitriy Salita.

“It was the biggest win of my career, fins ara,” Todd said. “It means a lot for my career in terms of taking me to the next level. Pagan will make professional debut on Salita Promotions’ ‘Detroit Brawl’ event on January 22 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn, MI

Salita Promotions proudly announces the signing of Grand Rapids, Michigan-based 2021 USA National Amateur Welterweight Champion Joshua "Doble J" Pagan a un contracte promocional.

The young phenom will face Steubenville, Ohio’s Glenn Mitchell (3-6, 3 KOs) in a four-round welterweight battle to support the 10-round middleweight main event featuring WBC #9- and WBO #15-ranked middleweight Hugo “The Boss” Centeno Jr.

“I’ve watched some fights of his on YouTube,” revealed Pagan.

“Mitchell is a rugged guy. I can’t overlook him because it only takes on mistake. I’m going in there to get my first win and showcase my skills and show the Detroit fans what I can do.”

A non-stop student of the sport, while working with his father/trainer Tony, Pagan says he’s been sparring more rounds than usual against local professionals and picking up their tricks of the trade to prepare.

“I feel I got a good deal and he seems real straightforward and genuine,” added Pagan about the deal with Salita. “We got hooked up by my good friend Joseph Hicks, who is also fighting on the card. I sent him some of my fights for Dmitriy to watch and he liked what he saw, so he told us to get a hold of him. I want to win a world championship. I’ve always dreamt of being on the big stage and fighting in the big fights. I don’t get nervous in big fights. If anything I get more focused. I’m more than ready and very excited for this new challenge. Estic llest per anar. I’m training hard and I will be in the best shape I’ve ever been in on January 22.”

“He seems like a really down-to-earth guy,” added father Tony. “He seems like a good promoter and we think he’ll help us grow and do what we have to do. Joshua’s greatest strength is that he’s willing to work hard and wants to keep learning. Those are his best assets. He never stops learning and he really loves the sport.”

Promoter Salita, who has enjoyed several successes in his mission to help revive Michigan boxing, says Pagan is a talented new addition to his growing stable.

“Joshua is a young new talent with tremendous potential,” said Salita. “He’s a very hard worker in the gym with exceptional boxing skills. He’s a new prospective star from the state of Michigan and I’m happy to be working with him and his father to help them reach his potential. He has a lot of fans coming out to watch his professional debut, which will be against a tough opponent with nine more fights.”

In the night’s co-main event is power-punching undefeated Detroit middleweight “prospect to watch” Marlon Harrington (5-0, 4 KOs) will appear in a six-rounder vs. TBA.

Featured in separate eight-round battles, each against opponents to be announced, will be the always-exciting top super-featherweight contender Alejandro “Pork Chop” Guerrero (12-2, 9 KOs) of Irving, Texas; as well as Detroit super middleweight Winfred Harris Jr. (20-1-1, 10 KOs); and undefeated Houston-based welterweight Quinton Randall (8-0, 2 KOs).

And in a very special six-round pro debut will be Salita Promotions’ most recent promotional signee, popular Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Team USA Captain and bonafide amateur star Joseph "Sug" Hicks Jr., who will begin his fast-track route to potential stardom against TBA.

A native of Lithuania who now live and trains in the U.S., Stanionis (9-0, 6 KOs) is one of the most promising fighters to come out of the 2016 Jocs Olímpics. “We were getting ready for Miguel Flores, but in the gym you have to always be ready for any kind of style. We had been already been working with sparring partners who brawl, and that’s what we expect from Rafael Rivera.

“I knew immediately that Rivera was a good opponent. He’s young and hungry and that makes him dangerous. He can take punches, so we’re ready for 12 rondes. We’re going to be smart in this fight because we know what Rivera can do.

“Seeing my dad going through cancer treatment has been very tough. He motivates me to go to the gym and train hard, because I know if he sees me working hard, it will motivate him as well.

“I’m just looking to go out there, give a great fight and help my name continue to grow so that I can fight the best.

“I love fighting and training here in Los Angeles. It gives me a chance to be with my family more. When I have them here, it makes me train harder. I do all of this for them and their future.

“If I can get this win, we want to unify the belts or make the third fight against Carl Frampton. Sinó, we will go to 130 pounds and seek a title in a new weight class.”

“The layoff didn’t affect me against Robert Guerrero, so I don’t see why it will affect me now. That’s why I keep my style consistent. The only difference is the character across from me in the ring. This fight will depend on how John wants it to go, because I’m coming to fight.

“I’m just looking to get in the ring and take advantage of this opportunity I’ve been given. I’ve made changes that have made my whole game so much easier. It’s a totally different mentality that I have now.

“I’m ready to dominate the fight like I always do. That’s the only thing on my mind. I don’t care about his height, record or anything else. I’m coming to dominate.

“I’ve never been concerned with the height of Fundora. We sparred with some good strong southpaws in Florida including Yamaguchi Falcao. Then we went to Las Vegas for the second half of training camp and worked with some top prospects. I’m more than prepared for anything.

Viu a Los Angeles.

Santa Creu, who was joined by his father and trainer Jose Santa Cruz, showed off the skills that have made him a can’t-miss attraction. Santa Cruz was originally scheduled to face Miguel Flores, but he was replaced by Rivera after Flores suffered an injury in training.

Here is what the workout participants had to say Tuesday in Hollywood:

**LEO SANTA CREU**

“We kept our training camp going despite the change of opponent. We always train the same no matter who the opponent is.

“We spar against fighters who have every different kind of style, because the opponent could always bring something new to the ring. My dad tells me to always be prepared for any kind of style. We are ready for whatever the opponent brings into the ring.

“I’m always staying in shape whether I’m in the gym training for a fight or not. When they call us and tell us what the fight is, we’re always ready.

“I know that Rivera has fought some good opponents like Joseph Diaz and Joet Gonzalez, and he’s gone the distance with them. He’s given them tough battles. He’s shown that he’s a tough fighter who will leave everything in the ring.

“This isn’t going to be an easy fight. Rivera is tougher than people have given him credit for in the past. It motivates me to try to be the first to knock him out. If I have the opportunity for it, I’m going for it. Most important though, is to come out of there with the victory.

“Sometimes when my dad is having tough days dealing with the cancer, I want to stay at home with him, but he tells me to go to the gym and train hard. So I tell him that we’re going to work hard for him. We both motivate each other.

Action will also see 2016 U.S. Olímpic **Karlos Balderas** (6-0, 5 KOs) in a special six-round lightweight attraction, former title challenger **Hugo Centeno, Jr.** (26-2, 14 KOs) reunió **Oscar Cortez** (27-3, 14 KOs) in an eight-round middleweight bout and **Ivan Redkach** (21-4-1, 16 KOs) dueling **Tyrone Harris** (26-13, 16 KOs) in an eight-round welterweight match. The Balderas fight is a swing bout for the FOX and FOX Deportes telecast that will air live if time permits.

Juárez (23-6, 17 KOs) has worked his way back into title contention since losing to Isaac Dogboe in a super bantamweight championship match last January. The 27-year-old from Mexico City fought three more times in 2018, scoring two stoppage victories and a unanimous decision over Jorge Sanchez most recently in September.

Iwasa (25-3, 16 KOs) won the IBF Super Bantamweight title with a TKO victory over Yukinori Oguni in 2017 and successfully defended it with a unanimous decision over Ernesto Saulong last March. The 29-year-old from Kashiwa, Chiba, Japan most recently lost the title by unanimous decision to T.J. Doheny in August.

Mexico’s Licona (14-0, 2 KOs) was very busy in 2018, fighting four times and winning the IBF Junior Flyweight title with a split decision over Mark Anthony Barriga on December 1. The 23-year-old from Mexico City, Mexico will be making his first title defense against the 23-year-old Kriel (14-1-1, 6 KOs). Fighting out of Johannesburg, Sud-àfrica, he will compete for the first time in the U.S. and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Xolisa Magusha in March.

BROOKLYN (Abril 22, 2018) – campió mundial en quatre divisions Adrien Broner i campió del món de dues divisions Jessie Vargas va lluitar per un sorteig majoritari de 12 rondes molt entretingut dissabte a la nit a SHOWTIME a l'esdeveniment principal de SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING davant de 13,964 aficionats al Barclays Center de Brooklyn en un esdeveniment presentat per Premier Boxing Champions.

La batalla d'anada i tornada va ser una història d'activitat vs. precisió. Vargas va ser, amb diferència, el lluitador més actiu, llançament 839 cops totals, 300 més que el seu oponent. “Tot al camp d'entrenament ha anat fantàstic. No puc esperar per aquesta baralla. Això no és un joc. Estic aquí per guanyar i penso fer-ho. Això serà acció.

“He vist els errors que Broner ha comès en el passat. He de sortir i preocupar-me pel meu rendiment. Sóc versàtil i faré el que hagi de fer. Tots dos som antics campions del món, però al final del dia només hi haurà un guanyador, i seré jo.

“Estic centrat en el que estic passant. Hugo creu que l'estic passant per alt, però això no passa gens. Vull treure'l i fer una declaració que estic preparat per als grans noms de la divisió.

“Anem a aixecar Brooklyn. Realment vull fer una declaració. No importa com em senti durant tota la lluita, ho farem rock.”

HUGO CENTENO JR.

“Tinc la sensació que se m'està passant per alt. No he estat capaç de fer-me un nom familiar en estar en aquestes plataformes. Vinga l'abril 21, Vaig a donar a conèixer el meu nom.

“La lesió a la costella va ser difícil de suportar al principi. Estàvem molt a prop del final, però un cop vaig reprendre l'entrenament, Jo ja estava en condicions fenomenals. Em va portar a un altre nivell i ara estic en les millors condicions de la meva vida.

“Sé que Charlo ve a lluitar, i definitivament vinc a lluitar. No importa quina sigui l'estratègia o l'estil, Estaré preparat per a qualsevol cosa que se'm vegi.

“Dissabte a la nit podeu esperar una lluita plena d'acció. Sé que Cuéllar vindrà a lluitar. Definitivament vinc a lluitar. Estic preparat per reprendre on ho vaig deixar, de nou com a campió.

“Vaig tenir moltes distraccions el darrer campament que em van fer perdre pes. A partir d'aquell dia em vaig centrar a tornar a un títol mundial. Vaig decepcionar la gent quan vaig perdre el títol a l'escala, però ara estic més concentrat.

“Va ser fantàstic estar al campament a Florida en comptes de tornar a casa a Baltimore. D'aquesta manera, només em preocupa la boxa cada dia. Estic menjant bé i realment just 100 per cent centrat en la boxa. Va ser una gran jugada i es veurà dissabte.

“Tinc les habilitats i el carisma per estar al capdavant de l'esport. Només necessito els oponents adequats, però no ho vaig a pressa. He de prendre decisions intel·ligents en aquest esport per arribar on vull. Vull continuar fent grans actuacions.

“Entenc que Davis és un gran oponent, però dins del ring, només serem nosaltres dos, anar de peu a peu. Sé que serà una gran lluita.

“Tot això serà acció. Espereu veure una guerra amb mi aixecant la mà al final de la nit. Faré el que calgui.

“El pla és sortir allà i guanyar aquest cinturó. Hem tingut un gran entrenament i entrenament per aconseguir-nos aquesta posició. Els meus entrenadors van treballar molt dur per preparar-me.

Cau (15-2, 4 KOs) will return to action in an eight round bantamweight fight against Juan Medina (10-2, 9 KOs), mentre Maidana (14-0, 10 KOs) steps in for a 10-round super lightweight showdown against Hevinson Herrera (22-14-1, 16 KOs). The undercard attractions also include popular local female contender Bruc “El Heat” Resistent (20-0, 4 KOs)as she competes in a featherweight contest against Mexico’s Paolo Torres (10-2-1, 3 KOs).

The action inside the arena will also feature a pair of 2016 Olympians in separate six-round super lightweight attractions as U.S. Olímpic Gary Antuanne Russell (4-0, 4 KOs) enters the ring against Andrew Rodgers (4-2-1, 2 KOs) and Haitian Olympian Richardson Hitchins (4-0, 2 KOs) batalles Alexander Charneco (4-4, 4 KOs).

Brooklyn’s unbeaten Chordale Booker will step into the ring for a six-round super welterweight fight against Daniel Calzada while the Bronx’s undefeated heavyweight George Arias competes in an eight-round attraction against Tyrell Wright.

The action rounds out with unbeaten super featherweight Desmond Jarmon lluitant Kendrick Latchman in a four-round showdown, perspectiva invicta Shyngyskhan Tazhibay in a four-round welterweight contest against Justin Savi (31-15-2, 21 KOs) i l'invicte prospecte Dylan Price, que compleixi Edson Noria for a six-round super flyweight bout.
