Kathy "Wildcat" Collins deviendra la première boxeuse intronisée au Temple de la renommée de la boxe de l'État de New York lors du dîner d'intronisation du 30 avril

NEW YORK (Mars 22, 2023) – Multiple championne du monde Kathy « Wildcat » Collins (14-2-4, 3 KOs) deviendra la première boxeuse intronisée au Temple de la renommée de la boxe de l'État de New York (NYSBHOF).

Collins, de Plainview, fait partie d'une classe de 22 membres 2022 être intronisé au 11e dîner d'intronisation du NYSBHOF, parrainé par Ring 8, surdimanche après-midi (12:30-5:30 p.m. ET), Avril 30, à On The Bay Russo à Howard Beach, New York.

"C'est un immense honneur d'être intronisé au Temple de la renommée de la boxe de l'État de New York," a déclaré Collins (nom de mariage Globuschutz). "C'est ma quatrième intronisation au Temple de la renommée, ce qui est spécial pour moi puisque j'ai également détenu quatre titres mondiaux. Mais c'est encore plus spécial puisque c'est enfin ici à New York, la Mecque de la boxe, et où tout a commencé pour moi.

"Dans 1995, Je faisais partie de la première classe de femmes autorisées à boxer dans les légendaires gants dorés du Daily News. Un an plus tard, le premier combat féminin télévisé sur la série américaine de boxe du mardi soir de la Paramount au Madison Square Garden, qui a culminé avec les bourses féminines les plus élevées à l'époque du Madison Square Garden en tant que combat co-présenté sur un important pay-per-view pour Don King. Ce sont des réalisations majeures dans la boxe féminine. Cela a ouvert la voie aux femmes d'aujourd'hui, certains sortent des Jeux Olympiques, vendre The Garden et travailler à l'égalité de rémunération avec des jours de paie à sept chiffres.

Le deuxième combat professionnel de Collins a été une décision en six rounds contre Andrea DeShong en 1996, qui a amené la boxe féminine professionnelle au célèbre Madison Square Garden et à la télévision par câble régulière.

En 1997, Kathy a remporté le titre des poids welters de l'IFBA et a ajouté la couronne des poids welters juniors de l'IWBF plus tard la même année, puis, elle est descendue dans la division poids léger pour défier avec succès le championnat IWBF. Collins est devenu le premier combattant à posséder simultanément des titres mondiaux dans le WIBF, IFBA, et IWBF.

New York State Boxing HOF Class of 2020 Induction Ceremony Postponed until September 20

NEW YORK (Mars 19, 2020) - Le Temple de la renommée de la boxe de l'État de New York (NYSBHOF) announced today that its ninth annual induction dinner has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic from April 19e àSeptembre 20e à On The Bay Russo à Howard Beach, New York.

Money already collected for tickets and journal ads may be used for the Sept. 20e event or returned in full upon request at point of purchase.

“Because of new city mandates and the uncertainty of the coronavirus,” NYSBHOF presidentBob Duffy annoncé, “we have postponed our event until September 20. It would not have been fair to the honorees, their friends and guests, and general public to wait any longer. I must commend the ownership and management at Russo’s On The Bay for working with us during this crisis to give us a date that will hopefully work for us all.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their patience, advise and insight into making this decision. With the extra time I’m confident that we can make this award dinner our best ever.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Tour. (Novembre 4, 2019) – Olympic gold-medalists“Big” George Foreman, Mark Breland et“Smokin’” Joe Frazier head the Class of 2019 into the USA Boxing Alumni Association Hall of Fame, vendredi soir, Décembre 13, at Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino in Lake Charles, Louisiane.

The HOF reception is being held in conjunction with the 2020 Essais olympiques et 2019 Championnats nationaux. Décembre. 7-15, at Lake Charles Civic Center. Sen. John McCain will be posthumously presented a special Lifetime Achievement Award. A fearless boxer for three years at the U.S. Naval Academy, Sen. McCain managed his battalion’s boxing team to the brigade championship.

Sen. McCain was the architect of the ground-breaking Muhammad Ali Act, pushed for the pardoning ofJack Johnson, and worked with the Cleveland Clinic on the forefront of brain trauma studies leading to more safety measures for boxers.

“My father had a passion for boxing,” his daughterMegan McCain said. “He loved it for the thrill of achievement, the nobility of struggle, and the dignity of men bloodied but unbowed. His love for boxing and his love for America had a lot in common. That’s why he worked tirelessly to protect and elevate the sport – making it an arena of integrity for fans and fighters alike.

“That’s also why I am honored to join the USA Boxing Alumni Association Hall of Fame to accept their Lifetime Achievement Award on his behalf.”

“Je me sens apprécié et il commence à Settle dans que je suis près de cette marque de légende vivante. Je ne me vois pas comme une légende vivante. Que d'autres personnes décident. C'est un grand honneur et je suis reconnaissant pour Atlantic City Boxing Hall of Fame pour la réalisation de cet,” Hopkins a déclaré dans un Novembre 16 entretien RingTV avec Joseph Santoliquito.

La 3ème cérémonie d'intronisation annuelle & Week-end célébration honorera certains des figures les plus emblématiques du monde du sport de la boxe: Butch Lewis, Nigel Collins, Anglais “Bouie” Pêcheur et New Jersey boxe Hall of Fame président Henry Hascup ne sont que quelques-uns du nom qui sera inscrit à la 2019 classe d'induction.
Intronisées seront nommés dans trois catégories: Combattant, Entraîneur & Cut-Hommes et collaborateurs spéciaux.

Il rejoint un groupe restreint dans la classe de 2018 être intronisé au Temple de la renommée de l'Association des anciens de boxe américaine.

Temple Saint) à Salk Lake City, Utah.

 

 

 

En plus de Cleary, la classe de 2018 comprend également les États-Unis. Médaillés par équipe olympique et monde (professionnel) champions Roy Jones, Jr., Andre Ward et Claressa Shields, ainsi qu'un ancien directeur national des entraîneurs de boxe américaine, la fin Emanuel Steward.

 

 

 

La classe charter intronisée l'année dernière incluait Muhammad Ali et Evander Holyfield, ainsi que des entraîneurs vétérans Roosevelt Sanders et Tom Coulter.

 

 

 

Un résident de longue date de Westchester, Ohio, Cleary était membre de la boxe américaine depuis 1982, et il a été chef des officiels de la National Collegiate Boxing Association de 2002 jusqu'à son décès en mai 21, 2017.

 

 

 

Il a arbitré dans 12 différents pays, sur quatre continents, en tant qu'officiel international désigné par l'AIBA. Tom a obtenu une cote de trois étoiles et il a été sélectionné pour travailler les World Series of Boxing.

JIM GRAY AND STEVE ALBERT ELECTED TO INTERNATIONAL BOXING HALL OF FAME

Veteran SHOWTIME Sports® Reporter Jim Gray and Former Play-By-Play Announcer Steve Albert Join 2018 Class Alongside Vitali Klitschko, Eric Morales and Ronald “Winky” Wright

SHOWTIME Sports veteran reporter Jim Gray and former, long-time play-by-play announcer Steve Albert were elected to the 2018 class of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, it was announced by the Hall on Tuesday.

Gray and Albert earned induction into the Observer category, which recognizes outstanding achievements of print and electronic media journalists, diffuseurs sportifs, éditeurs, écrivains, historiens, photographes et artistes. Gray and Albert will join SHOWTIME Sports boxing analyst Al Bernstein (2012), annonceur d'anneau Jimmy Lennon Jr. (2013), analyste et historien Steve Farhood (2017) and announcer Barry Tompkins (2017) in the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Former heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, four-division world champion Eric Morales and former undisputed super welterweight world champion Ronald “Winky” Wright headline the 2018 classe d'induction. The newly elected class will be inducted during Hall of Fame Weekend Juin 7-10, 2018, in Canastota, N. Y..

Gray has been a reporter for SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING since 1994, et a gagné 11 Emmy Awards throughout his career, including one for his interview of Mike Tyson following the heavyweight’s infamous “bite fight” loss to Evander Holyfield. The National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association also named that interview the “Sports Broadcast Story of the Year.” En outre, the American Sportscasters Association voted Gray “Sportscaster of the Year” en 1998 et 1999.

Throughout his four-decade career as a reporter, Gray has covered numerous Super Bowls, World Series, Jeux olympiques, NBA Finals and NCAA Final Fours, and has interviewed many of the most lauded sports figures of this era including Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady, Pete Rose, Michael Jordan and many others.

The late Ali is the lone three-time lineal world heavyweight champion of all-time, who as an amateur (known then as Cassius Clay), a remporté une médaille d'or au 1960 Olympics in Rome.
Holyfield was the first and remains the only undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion. In addition to coaching the iconic 1988 USA Olympic boxing team, which captured eight individual medals, he was a consultant for the 1996 squad that won 14 meals. A national boxing champion at Syracuse University, Coulter also coaches the U.S. Army Boxing Team.

VERONA, N. Y.. (Juin 10, 2017) – Undefeated super lightweight Regis Prograis made an emphatic statement Vendredi surShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération, knocking down previously undefeated Joel Diaz Jr. four times in the second round as he stamped his arrival as a legitimate contender in the 140-pound division.

The southpaw Prograis (20-0, 17 KOs), who was making his fourth start on the prospect developmental series, called out the top names at 140 after the second round demolition (OMS 2:55) au Turning Stone Resort Casino à Vérone, N. Y..

Nicholson (17-2-1, 16 KOs) carried the momentum to sweep the fourth, but the remaining four rounds featured back-and-forth action and were difficult to score. “I’m not going to make any excuses. He won the fight,” Nicholson said. “That’s what the judges saw, but I don’t agree. He hurt me in the first round. He hit me viciously in the head. I was dizzy but I recovered and I went on. I think I did a very good job but clearly not enough.

“I can’t fight at 160 – I’m a 168-pounder. Fighting at that weight drained me. I wasn’t at my best.”

The Sergio Martinez protégé had a bloodied Reyes hurt in the opening minute of the second and closed the show in the final minute with a sharp right to the ear that sent Reyes (14-4-3, 2 KOs) falling back toward the canvas. The perfectly placed punch had Reyes seemingly out before he hit the floor.

The Spaniard Fernandez (13-0, 11 KOs) landed a staggering 55 percent of his power shots and 40 pour cent de ses coups totaux.

“The one-two, one-two was the key to opening the door,” Fernandez said. “The straight right hand is one of my best punches and I caught Reyes in the perfect spot. I hope he is OK. I feel that I am ready for the next level. I’ll fight wherever there is an opportunity, but I believe the big fights are here in the U.S.”

Reyes was responsive but taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
