I main event, junior mellemvægt Thomas “Cornflake” Lamanna vil deltage i en 6-rund Bout mod veteran Ayi Bruce.
I den forventede co-feature, “Brutal” Brendan Barrett tager på Satario Holdbrooks i en Heavyweight planlagt til 4-runder.
Barrett for Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey er en populær figur rundt om Beach Haven / Long Beach Island område på grund af ham er en 6-tiden MMA Heavyweight mester.
Barrett har skåret ud af en fantastisk MMA karriere, men har altid haft kløe til at blive en bokser.
Barrett har erfaring i kvadrerede cirkel, da han har en uafgjort i en kamp, som han deltog i 2006.
“Da jeg tog den første boksning kampen var det bare at gøre det, og at forblive aktive. Min vigtigste baggrund var brydning, men hver gang klokken ringede jeg ville bare smide slag. År siden ville jeg se Contender og se, hvordan de boksere blev portrætteret som fagfolk og respektfuld atleter i forhold til nogle af de andre kampe reality shows af tiden. Jeg begyndte at lære mere om historien og arven fra boksning og blev mere og mere interesseret i sporten.”
“Jeg var allerede en etableret MMA fighter, da jeg tog min første boksning kamp. Jeg gik ud til Pittsburgh at uddanne sig til en anden boksning kamp, men flere modstandere faldt igennem og showet blev til sidst aflyst på grund af en snestorm. Efter den kamp faldt gennem jeg blev tilbudt et andet MMA kamp, for første gang på HWT, med en modstander, der afviste at kæmpe mig som en sidste minut erstatning mod ham på en kamp, han var planlagt til. Måneder senere kaldte han mig ud nu ønsker at kæmpe. Jeg tog det temmelig personligt, så jeg gik tilbage til MMA at bekæmpe ham og vandt. Efter at jeg begyndte at få en masse tilbud til at kæmpe på HWT i MMA, og siden blev en 6 tid HWT Champion på tværs af fire forskellige kampagner, men ønskede stadig at bokse igen.”
Barrett startede virksomheden H.I.T.M. Kampagner, som står for Historie i støbeskeen, fordi han var træt af at vente på en lejlighed i boksning, og også ønskede at hjælpe andre krigere fremme deres egne karrierer.
“Jeg har ofret så meget og dedikeret mig selv så længe, at jeg følte, det var tid til at tage kontrol over min egen skæbne. Ligegyldigt hvor hårdt jeg arbejder, eller hvor forberedt er jeg, Jeg var altid venstre venter på en mulighed. Have mit eget salgsfremmende selskab fjerner ventetiden. Jeg kan nu kæmpe på andre shows, eller min egen og holde mig aktiv. Jeg begyndte H.I.T.M. Kampagner ikke at være en promotor, men for at være en fighter. Mit fokus er helt på denne lørdag, men i ryggen af mit sind jeg tænker allerede om at fremme en anden vis. Dette er dybest set den mest afgørende kamp i min karriere. Ikke alene er jeg skifter tilbage til boksning, men det er min første kamp tilbage fra en skade på min hånd, som skulle have afsluttet min karriere. Oven i købet, Det er den første vise min virksomhed nogensinde har fremmet. Jeg følte, at holde denne kamp i Beach Haven var en fantastisk måde at gøre noget anderledes og specielt til lokalsamfundet og til at give tilbage til et sted, som jeg har fået så meget fra.”

“Jeg har ærligt ikke tænkt meget over MMA. Jeg virkelig ønsker at holde boksning, men jeg har ikke helt lukke døren på MMA.
Barrett sagde at være en fighter og en promotor har ikke været let, som han begiver sig ud på hans 2. optræden i ringen.
“Det har været vanskeligt beskæftiger sig med alle de telefonopkald, emails, og planlægning, alle samtidig forsøger at forberede sig til en kamp. Der har været tidspunkter, hvor jeg gjorde min morgen cardio på, og jeg ville være på telefonen, mens du arbejder ud håndterer forretning. Da kampen kom tættere, Jeg var nødt til at tvinge mig selv til at tage mere tid til at træne og forberede mig. Det var svært at holde fokus på tidspunkter, fordi min modstander holdes ændre, og når den sidste faldt igennem, og de nævnte Holdbrooks, Jeg sagde bare ja så jeg kunne kæmpe.”

Cotto Receives Honorary Title of “Athlete of the Year”

The NPRDP established the National Puerto Rican Day Parade Scholarship Awards Program to help promote the pursuit of higher education within the community. I 2015, the organization will double the total dollar figure and number of scholarships awarded from the previous year to 30 scholarships in the amount of $2,000 hver. In celebration of the 2015 class of scholarship winners, Miguel Cotto, Roc Nation Sports and Miguel Cotto Promotions will be contributing $5,000 to the National Puerto Rican Day Parade Scholarship Fund in support of helping other high school and college students pay for their educations.
