NEW YORK (April 9, 2018) – Voormalig wereldkampioen cruiserweight Al “Ijs” Cole en ongeslagen, Nee.; 1 zwaargewicht mededinger “Baby” Joe Mesi zijn beiden buitengewoon vereerd en dankbaar om te worden ingewijd, samen met 21 anderen in de Klasse van 2018, naar de New York State Boxing Hall of Fame (NYSBHOF).

 

 

 

De zevende jaarlijkse NYSBHOF inductie diner zal worden gehouden zondagmiddag (12:30-5:30 p.m. EN), April 29, nogmaals bij Russo’s On The Bay in Howard Beach, New York.

 

 

Cole (35-16-3, 16 KO), die uit Rockland County komt, vochten professionele tussen 1989 en 2011, won zijn eerste 15 en 27 van zijn aanvankelijke 28 pro gevechten. Hij veroverde de International Boxing Federation (IBF) Cruiserweight Wereldkampioenschap in 1992, toen hij een unaniem besluit van 12 ronden won over James Warring (14-1). Cole maakte vier succesvolle verdedigingen van de wereldtitel voordat hij doorging naar zwaargewicht.

 

 

 

 

 

“Ik wist dat ik op een dag zou komen en ik ben vereerd om opgenomen te worden in de New York State Boxing Hall of Fame, vooral met deze klasse omdat ik een paar andere vechters ken zoals Lou Del Valle en Terrance Alli.” Zei Cole. “Ik stond bekend als een publiekstrekker, opwindende vechter, en mensen die naar me keken, wisten altijd dat ik een goed gevecht zou hebben met goede uitwisselingen. “Ik vocht in het leger met Ray Mercer, stak Evander Holyfield tijdens het sparren. Mijn beste gevecht, hoewel, doet me het meest pijn. Ik was zo scherp tegen een vechter van Kronk Gym, Vincent Boulware, in mijn derde wereldtitelverdediging dat jaar (1993). Boulware had zes van zijn laatste zeven gevechten gewonnen met vier knock-outs en ik begon net een fatsoenlijke naam te worden, Als ik hem versla, Ik had tegen Tommy Hearns of Iran Barkley moeten vechten, die beiden op weg waren naar cruiserweight. Cole groeide op in Atlantic City, waar hij vocht 18 tijden, en hij leerde een casino-eigenaar kennen, Donald Trump. “We hingen rond,” Cole herinnerde het zich. “Trump nodigde me uit voor enkele van zijn privéfeesten. Ik had nooit gedacht dat hij president zou worden!”.

 

 

 

Mijnik (36-0, 29 KO) was zo populair in Buffalo, hij werd beschouwd als de derde sportfranchise in de staat New York (Rekeningen en sabels). Mesi stond vrijwel op de zwarte lijst tijdens het boksen, twee volle jaren verliezen in de ring, terwijl hij juridische stappen ondernam om een ​​nieuwe vergunning te krijgen, wat hij uiteindelijk was, maar slechts door een paar commissies. Joe vocht zeven keer nadat hij opnieuw een licentie had gekregen, maar hij was helaas beperkt in termen van waar hij kon vechten, en hij herwon nooit de verheven status die hij ooit had gehad. About David Benavidez
David Benavidez is a Mexican-American professional boxer. He has held the WBC Super middleweight title since September 8, 2017 by defeating Ronald Gavril in Las Vegas. Las Vegas (Maart 15, 2018) – Two-Time World Champion Shannon Briggs “Let’s Go Champ” heeft bevestigd dat hij zal verschijnen, have a booth and hold a Meet & Greet with his fans at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the 4th edition of Box Fan Expo dat zal plaatsvinden Zaterdag mei 5,2018 uit 10am to 5pm, during Cinco De Mayo fight weekend.
Briggs will appear for the first time at this year’s Expo where he will be launching and introducing his new “Champ RX” “Let’s Go Champ” producten. About Shannon Briggs
Briggs is an American professional boxer. A twenty-year veteran of the sport, he is a Two-Time former world heavyweight champion, having held the lineal title from 1997 naar 1998, and the WBO title from 2006 naar 2007. Las Vegas (Maart 9, 2018) – Former Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik has confirmed that he and “The Punch Line” Podcast team will appear at the “Ring Life” booth to Meet & Greet his fans at the Las Vegas Convention Center for the fourth edition of Box Fan Expo that will take place Zaterdag mei 5, 2018 uit 10a.m to 5pm, tijdens Cinco De Mayo weekend. The Boxing Expo will also coincide with the mega fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, that will take place later that evening.
Pavlik will appear for the first time at this years’ Expo. Kelly and “The Punch Line” team will have merchandise to sell to his fans, evenals foto's en memorabilia. They will also promote their New Show from the Boxing Expo.
Kelly Pavlik Known as “The Ghost”, is an American former professional boxer who competed from 2000 naar 2012. Pavlik grew up on the south side of Youngstown, Ohio. He won the unified WBC, WBO, Ring magazine and lineal middleweight titles by defeating Jermain Taylor in 2007, which was also named Fight of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America. Pavlik made three successful defenses before losing them to Sergio Martínez in 2010. In januari 19, 2013 Kelly Pavlik announced his retirement from boxing.

Richard “Popeye de matroos” Rivera Finishes off Kevin Cobbs in 3 with super uppercut

WORCESTER, Massa. (Februari 11, 2018) – Undefeated prospect Richard “Popeye de matroos” Rivera afgewerkt Kevin “The New England Bully” Cobbs in de derde ronde, punctuating the night with an lethal uppercut that landed right on the button, headliner van gisteravond “New England's Future 5” kaart, gepresenteerd door Rivera Promotions Entertainment, The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The 27-year-old Rivera (6-0, 5 KO) fought once again in front of his large, traveling fanbase from Hartford, CT, capturing the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) light heavyweight title in dramatic fashion. The charismatic Hartford boxer ended his third consecutive match with what has become his trademark right-uppercut.

Rivera used his strength, energy and determined will to defeat South Boston’s Cobbs (10-3, 4 KO), whose previous fight had been more than a year ago, when he was stopped in the second round by now world champion David Benavidez.

In only his sixth pro fight, the key question going into the bout was whether Rivera was ready to effectively step up in class to face a more experienced Cobbs. Right from the opening bell, the answer was a resounding, ja, as Rivera pounded Cobbs with powerful shots to the body and head.

Cobbs was dropped three times in the third round, one was ruled a push, and the end came when referee Jackie Morrell halted the action at the 2:51 as a reeling Cobbs was blasted backwards from the Rivera’s previously mentioned uppercut.

Junior welterweight prospect Wilfredo “de Sucaro” Heidens (4-0, 2 KO) floored veteran Bryan “The Brick” Abraham (6-29-2, 6 KO) with a sweet right-left combination at the end of the opening round. Springfield, MA junior middleweight Boortoren “Bad Boy” Whitley (3-0) cruised to a dominating four-round unanimous decision over Cleveland’s Roger Blankenship (1-3), pitching a complete shutout in the process.

Bridgeport, CT welterweight Joe Goss (1-0) turned in an impressive pro debut, dropping Montreal’s Samuel Vasquez (1-3, 1 KO) in the second round on his way to a four-round unanimous decision.

Puerto Rican junior lightweight Luis “Lobito” Rivera (4-3, 1 KO) overcame a nasty cut over his eye to win a hard-fought four-round majority decision over Carlos Marrero, III (0-2), van Bridgeport, CT, in a non-stop action fight to the finish.

Unbeaten Springfield, MA light heavyweight Straal “antitankgeweer” Graceski (5-0-1, 3 KO) and International Muay Thai fighter, Harford’s pro boxing debuting Pawel Banasiak (0-1-0), fought to a four-round draw in an entertaining brawl.

Puerto Rican super middleweight Jelame Garcia (7-0, 6 KO), fighting out of Lynn, MA., remained undefeated but Nathan Schulte (0-5), van Woburn, MA, extended him the full distance for first time as a pro en route to a four-round unanimous decision.

WORCESTER, Massa. (Januari 24, 2018) – One of New England’s leading pro prospects, junior weltergewicht Omar Bordoy, Jr., has prepared to make a statement February 10th bij “New England's Future 5”, presented Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), The Palladium in Worcester.
Fighting out of Danbury, Connecticut, Bordoy (3-0, 1 KO) faces Puerto Rican-born opponent, Alexander “El Bravo” Picot (2-4-1), in een vier-ronde Bout. “My opponent is tough, and he always comes to fight,” Bordoy said. “He keeps coming forward and that’s going to make for an exciting fight.”
The 22-year-old Bordoy is the typical example of a volatile teenager who found his way in boxing. He was a high school football player who started boxing at the age of 17. Bordoy had an abbreviated amateur career, highlighted by his winning performance at the New England Golden Gloves as a novice boxer.
“I was a bad hot head as a kid,” Bordoy admitted. “Op een dag, my cousin Edgardo, invited me to his gym after football practice and he beat me up. I was knocked down a few notches. I got into boxing and enjoyed watching Miguel Cotto en Mike Tyson. I even have some of Cotto’s tattoos. Nu, I’m more of a boxer, like a Pernell Whitaker of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. I’m a come- forward boxer who can still brawl. I’m working on my defense and feel that making adjustments in the ring is what I do best.”
Bordoy, Jr. credits Team Bordoy — manager A.J. Galante, hoofdtrainer Bennie Little, cut-man Luis Marichal, strength-and-conditioning coach Chris Mulfalmi en Dave McDonough – for his success.
“I’m pleased to be with the right people to bring me to the top and I’m willing to do what’s needed to get there,” Bordoy added.
Bordoy, who works fulltime as a repair technician, made his pro debut last May and he fought a total of three times in 2017, his most recent last October in Worcester on an RPE-promoted show, in which he stopped 34-fight veteran Bryan Abraham in de vierde ronde.

NEW YORK (November 15, 2017)) – Hall of Famer Evander “Real Deal” Holyfield and former world welterweight champion Luis Collazo will be special guest speakers at Ring 8’s next monthly meeting,Dinsdag nacht, November 21, at O’Neill’s Restaurant (64-21 53rd Drijfveer) in Maspeth, New York,
Because a large crowd is expected, only Ring 8 members will be allowed to attend this meeting, but membership may be obtained at the door for those interested in joining Ring 8.
“Evander Holyfield is one of the few living legends in our sport,” Ring 8 president Jack Hirsch zei. “Zo, you can imagine how thrilled we are to have him as a guest speaker. We had planned to present Holyfield with the Ring 8 Legends Award at our holiday banquet, but a lucrative business opportunity will prohibit him from being there that afternoon. In plaats daarvan, we will present him with that award at O’Neil’s. It says a lot about Evander that he adjusted his schedule to remain in New York to attend our meeting.
“Luis Collazo is a terrific fighter in his own right, having been a former world champion. His career seems to be on an upswing once again and we are anxious to hear about his future plans.”
Holyfield has retired as a boxer with an outstanding 44-10-2 (29 KO), but this past year he has operated a New York City-based promotional company, Real Deal Boxing. A U.S. Olympiër, Holyfield is the only unified world cruiserweight champion, as well as a four-time heavyweight champion of the world.
He had a 16-7-2 record in world title fights and won 19 van 30 fights with two draws against past or present world champions, defeating a Who’s Who list of all-time greats such as Dwight Muhammad Qawi, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe en Mike Tyson (tweemaal), onder de meer notabelen.
Born in Brooklyn and now a resident of Queens, Collazo (37-7. 20 KO) veroverde de World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight world title on April 2, 2005, winning a 12-round split decision over hometown favorite and defending champion Jose Antonio Rivera in Worcester, Massachusetts.
