**LAS VEGAS** (Novembre 24, 2019) – WBC World Heavyweight Champion **Deontay “Le Bomber Bronze” Wilder** continued his title reign with a one-punch knockout victory over **Luis “King Kong” Ortiz** in the seventh round of their rematch Saturday night that headlined a FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Wilder made his 10^e consecutive successful title defense, tying him with Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Larry Holmes, Tommy Burns and Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko as the only heavyweight champions to achieve that feat.

Dans un match revanche de leur épopée 2018 fight that saw Wilder rally back from nearly being stopped to knock out Ortiz in round 10, the fight again saw both men hold the momentum of the fight at different times.

Ortiz controlled much of the action of the fight as he sought to become the first Cuban heavyweight champion in history. Wilder was not very active in the early rounds, while Ortiz was able to effectively jab, move and throw overhand lefts to rack up rounds on the scorecard.

“With Ortiz, you can see why no other heavyweight wants to fight him,” Saïd Wilder. “He’s very crafty, he moves strategically and his intellect is very high. I had to measure him in certain places.”

Much of Wilder’s attack throughout the first six rounds was centered on his jab and a sweeping left hook that didn’t seem to land cleanly until early in round seven. With the seventh round waning, Wilder used a feint and a straight right cross to put Ortiz down, the first time he had been hurt at all in the fight.

“I had to go in and out and finally I found my measurement,” Saïd Wilder. “I saw the shot and I took it. My intellect is very high in the ring and no one gives me credit for me. I think I buzzed him with a left hook earlier in the round and I took it from there.”

While Ortiz was able to get to his feet, referee Kenny Bayless waived off the bout at 2:51 dans le septième round. Ortiz led on all three scorecards, by margins of 58-56 et 59-55 deux fois. Selon Compubox, Ortiz out landed Wilder 35 à 34, avec un 28 à 17 advantage in power punches.

In the ring following the fight, Ortiz asserted that he will continue his quest for a heavyweight championship.

“Deontay showed great will and I’m not ashamed with my performance,” Ledit Ortiz. “I know I can beat anyone in the heavyweight division. My career is not over. I’m going to work my way back into a big fight.”

The action began to heat up in round three, as Santa Cruz began to find a home for his straight right hand that would help him control much of the remainder of the fight. Flores adjusted and used more movement to try to counteract Santa Cruz’s aggression and also focused on countering those right hands with body shots.

“I’m glad I got the victory,” ledit Santa Cruz. “Miguel is a good fighter, he gave me a tough fight and he proved he’s not a pushover. We put on a great battle.”

“It was a good fight and I showed I belong at this level,” Saïd Flores. “I just went 12 rounds with Leo Santa Cruz. It’s not an accomplishment in itself but I slowed down his pace. Comme je l'ai dit avant, it’s not only about throwing punches, but it’s about ring IQ and I showed I have it.”

Despite Flores’ tactics, Santa Cruz was able to stay in control and frustrate his opponent. Flores was deducted a point by referee Tony Weeks in round eight due to excessive holding during the many exchanges.

“I want to stay at 130,” ledit Santa Cruz. “We want the big fights in 2020. I want Gervonta Davis or Gary Russell Jr. I want to show the world I’m not scared of anybody.”

The pay-per-view also featured WBA Super Bantamweight Champion **Brandon “le Heartbreaker” Figueroa** (20-0-1, 15 KOs) retaining his title with a split draw against former champion **Juillet Ceja** (32-4-1, 28 KOs) après 12 tours d'action.

“I think I did win the fight,” a déclaré Figueroa. “He put on a lot of pressure, but I fought better in the early rounds and I finished strong.”

Figueroa started the fight in control, closing down the distance early and using his activity and combinations to take early control of the action. Ceja’s strategy early was to counter his charging opponent, but he soon picked up the aggression to not allow Figueroa’s offensive momentum to grow.

In the middle rounds, Ceja began taking control, landing the more powerful punches while Figueroa continued to come forward, but was not able to land anything that slowed Ceja’s offense. Watch highlights ICI.

Figueroa was able to weather the storms in the middle rounds and make it to the late rounds where he again picked up the activity and body attack. He was able to bust Ceja’s lip throughout the action, causing it to swell and bleed.

The punch output was impressive from both fighters, with their 784 combined punches landed good for the fourth most in super bantamweight history, while their 2,811 punches thrown were the second highest, selon Compubox. Figueroa earned a narrow 411 à 373 avantage dans les coups reçus.

“I said before the fight, I wasn’t going to let it go to the judges,” said Ramirez. “The first fight wasn’t a draw. I worked very hard for this and it turned out how I wanted today. I felt his punching power. Il est un bon combattant. I came here to fight. Viva Mexico.”

“Je m'entraîne dur peu importe qui est l'adversaire. C’est la seule chose que je sais faire. Donc je ne pense à aucune déception, seulement pour gagner le combat devant moi. Je pense que c'est une excellente occasion de me présenter à la division.

“Je vais y aller et me battre dur pour 12 tours ou aussi longtemps que ça dure. Je vais être intelligent et m'assurer de remporter la victoire. Mais nous voulons aussi toujours offrir aux fans un excellent spectacle du début à la fin.

“Je me sens vraiment bien maintenant. Je pense que je vais être fort à ce poids et avoir plus de puissance sur le ring le soir du combat. Je ne passe pas autant de temps au camp à me soucier de maigrir, donc tout le reste ira mieux à cause de ça. Je vais être prêt pour tout ce que Miguel Flores peut apporter.

“Je veux gagner un autre titre pour mon héritage et ainsi je peux continuer à offrir aux fans de bons combats. C'est une excellente opportunité, donc je vais aller de l'avant et en profiter au maximum.

“C’est formidable d’être sur cette carte avec un événement principal aussi passionnant. Vous savez que Deontay Wilder peut assommer n'importe qui à tout moment. Je comprends ce qu'il veut faire et je peux reconnaître certaines faiblesses que nous cherchons à exploiter. Ça va être un bon combat alors qu'il dure. Tout le monde sait ce qu'il faut attendre de Deontay Wilder. Je n'ai pas le temps de jouer à des jeux et je ne suis pas payé pour les heures supplémentaires.”

Toujours un pour trouver les moyens de pousser sa formation et son niveau de condition physique générale, Wilder a intégré la natation et la plongée dans son programme de conditionnement.

“Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas, Je suis un plongeur certifié,” Saïd Wilder. “Je l'aime et je l'ai fait pendant quelques années. Il me donne la relaxation et aide à garder la pression sur les muscles de mon corps. Il aide énormément mon corps. Il est aussi renforcer mes jambes et mes poumons en expansion afin que j'ai plus d'endurance. L'eau est grande pour l'exercice et je l'aime.”

He is coming off a highlight-reel first round knockout of Dominic Breazeale in Brooklyn on May 18. Before that had one of the most dramatic matches of 2018 when he dropped Tyson Fury twice, including a stunning knockdown in the 12^e tour, on the way to a split draw last December.

Born and still living and training in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Wilder will return to fight at MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the first time since he won the heavyweight title with a dominant 12-round decision over Bermane Stiverne on January 17, 2015. The victory had even more significance for Wilder because it came on the birthday of his boxing idol, Muhammad Ali. The rematch against Ortiz will be his 10^e défense de titre.

Ortiz (31-1, 26 KOs) has ripped off three-straight victories since suffering the only loss of his career in that first match with Wilder in 2018, including most recently winning a unanimous decision over Christian Hammer on March 2. Le gaucher, who was born in Camaguey, Cuba and now lives in Miami, is one of the most avoided heavyweight contenders in boxing because of his vicious knockout power and crafty southpaw boxing skills. In the first fight with Wilder, Ortiz hurt Wilder with a textbook counter right hook that nearly made him the first Cuban heavyweight world champion.

A three-division world champion fighting out of Los Angeles, Santa Cruz (36-1-1, 19 KOs) holds the WBA featherweight title and will be making his debut at super featherweight and seeking a title in a fourth weight class. The 31-year-old has been a dominant force in the featherweight division since 2015, including two thrilling featherweight title duels against Abner Mares and Carl Frampton each. Fleurs (24-2, 12 KOs) was originally scheduled to fight Santa Cruz for the featherweight title in February, but severely sprained his ankle in training and had to withdraw from the fight. Breazeale, whose only two defeats have now come against both Wilder and Joshua, was disappointed he wasn’t allowed to continue the fight.

“I think the ref stopped it a little early because I could hear him saying seven and eight, but that’s boxing,” Saïd Breazeale. “He did his job and kept us safe for our next fight.

“I got on my feet and had my legs under me. It’s the heavyweight division so there’s going to big shots from guys with power. This was a situation where he landed the big right hand before I did. I thought I was going to come on in the later rounds. I’ll be back and go for the heavyweight title again.”

A battle between heavyweights **Robert Alfonso** (18-0-1, 8 KOs) et **Iago Kiladze** (26-4-1, 18 KOs) ended in a split-draw after eight rounds of action. “It’s going to be an amazing night for me, and a sad night for him. Being heavyweight champion is a big responsibility. Not everyone is made to be a champion. It’s more than being glamorous or carrying around this prestigious belt.

“I’ve trained harder than I’ve ever trained. He’s got me inspired like I was against Bermane Stiverne. I want to hurt Breazeale so bad. I’m going to keep my composure until that time comes Saturday night.

“I come to fight and get that title. I had a very smooth training camp and feel 100 percent physically.

“I think my experience is superior. He thinks I’m only a pressure fighter, but he hasn’t seen me box the way I’m going to box him on Saturday.

épreuve de force titre poids moyen de week-end dernier entre Canelo Alvarez et Daniel Jacobs a également présenté l'Expo Fan annuelle Box, tenue au Centre des congrès de Las Vegas. Les souvenirs étonnants sur l'affichage et l'action en direct de boxe amateur complété une série de combattants passés et présents champion du monde disponible pour répondre rapidement et Salue.

En tant que fan de boxe vie, il était dommage que je n'avais un peu plus de deux heures pour passer à l'événement avant de retourner à l'aréna T-Mobile pour le début des combats undercard. Le temps que j'ai pu passer était très agréable. Les prix étaient raisonnables pour répondre à ces légendes fistic et ont quelques instants pour parler et prendre des photos. La moyenne $20 -$25 Prix pour une séance photo était beaucoup moins que ce qui aurait été perdu au casino en un seul tour de roulette.

James Toney était là dans un costume, prouvant qu'il peut même faire élégant look à carreaux. Pour un gars connu pour une nature revêche, il était très accommodant et a dit qu'il sera à Philadelphie pour un spectacle en direct sur Juin 7 et l'espoir de me voir là-bas.

Dans le stand d'à côté était Hall of Fame diffuseur Al Berstein, qui j'ai eu le privilège d'interviewer en 2011. Quand on lui dit de mon admiration pour son travail de classe et d'être un fan depuis ses jours avec Barry Tompkins sur Combats jeudi soir ESPN, il était humble et reconnaissante.

La ligne de rencontrer Roy Jones Jr. était longue, mais la peine d'attendre. Alors que le temps de parler avec Roy était courte, J'ai pu mentionner quel honneur il devait rencontrer l'un des plus grands artistes de ma génération et comment je me suis assis à quelques pieds de lui quand il était sur le plateau Creed II.

Également à venir pour rencontrer Thomas Hearns actuelle IBF des super-champion poids plume Tevin Fermier, un camarade Philadelphian, qui j'ai eu l'occasion de regarder passer d'un 7-4-1 à un boxeur journeyman 29-4-1 champion du monde.

Ma visite ne serait pas complète sans arrêter pour voir « Le diable Pazmanian » Vinny Paz, toujours l'un de mes combattants d'action favoris et des personnalités charismatiques. Au lieu d'une poignée de main, il m'a accueilli avec un gros câlin et a exprimé sa déception que mon père ne me joindre à l'expo.

Dans le court laps de temps, il était impossible de répondre à tous les grands combattants y compris Michael Spinks, Riddick Bowe, Errol Spence, Anthony Dirrell, et Rasoirs Earnie. Avec ce week-end étant Cinco de Mayo, les lignes pour quelques-unes des légendes mexicaines enroulé autour du rez-de-centre de congrès. Mikey Garcia, Marco Antonio Barerra, Erik Morales, et Juan Manuel Marquez tous prouvé être exceptionnellement populaire. Mais rien comparé au bruit de la foule pro-mexicaine quand le grand Julio Cesar Chavez a été introduit.

Assister à cet événement était un rêve devenu réalité et je ne pouvais voudrais avoir plus de temps pour passer à l'événement. Tout était si professionnellement fait et les personnes présentes étaient au-delà accueillir.

Kudos à Expo Fan Box pour un tel événement exceptionnel.
