As the fight wore on, Mayweather began to find a spot to land numerous power shots on Paul’s head and body.
Despite sustaining punishment in the middle rounds, Paul was able to use his over 30-pound weight advantage to frequently tie Mayweather up and avoid being stopped or sent to the canvas.

Known as a slow starter throughout his accomplished career, Jack came out faster in this fight and was sharp from the outset against the replacement opponent Colina, who stepped in for Jean Pascal after Pascal failed a pre-fight drug test.
“He was trying to hold a lot and survive,” said Jack. “I fight better when I fight better opponents. I was a little sloppy. The world class fights are when I perform the best.”
Jack’s effectiveness forced Colina to try to hold to stop the incoming attack, but he was only able to use that strategy briefly, as referee Frank Santore Jr. took away points for holding in rounds two and three, warning Colina that one more infraction would end the fight in disqualification.

“I’m not sure what went wrong tonight,” said Hurd. “I believe I won the fight. I had a knockdown. I could make a hundred excuses but it wasn’t a great performance.”
Arias controlled the early rounds of the duel, attacking Hurd with numerous combinations that landed flush. His clean power punching was an advantage throughout, as he out landed Hurd in power punches by a total of 153 à 120 while landing over 40% of those shots.
“The game plan was to jump on him, get the early lead and keep it," dit Arias. “I felt like in the middle rounds I was winning the fight but you never know because I wasn’t the A-side in this fight. I buzzed him a lot, especially on the inside.”

“The plan coming out in the first round was to box,” said Hurd. “I wasn’t as confident in my feet as the rain came down, so I had to go toe-to-toe more. That wasn’t really what we trained for, so I was a bit sloppy.”
Arias bounced back effectively from the knockdown in the final round, with his onslaught eventually forcing Hurd to look to hold on in the final minutes to reach the final bell. In his first outing with new trainer Ismael Salas, Arias ended the night victorious, with one judge scoring the fight 95-94 for Hurd, overruled by scores of 97-93 et 96-93 for Arias.
“I would like to thank Ismael Salas," dit Arias. “I came to him semi-late. About six or seven weeks and I needed to change something in my game plan to beat Jarrett. “I’m just thankful that I’m still fighting on Sunday night. Now we have a new opponent and it’s going to be the same outcome. I’m in great shape and I can’t wait.
“Colina is just another guy. I respect him for coming in and stepping up as a late replacement. But I was going to win this fight on Sunday whether it was Pascal or anyone.
“I’m very frustrated about Jean Pascal. But I’m a pro and I can adjust no matter who is in front of me. I’m disappointed because I won the first fight against Pascal and I waited 18 months to get my revenge.
“I have a little anger that might get taken out on Colina, but it’s nothing personal, just business that I’m here to take care of on Sunday night.
“I don’t really care about the title too much, I really just cared about getting that revenge against Pascal. I waited so long for this and I could have taken different fights while I waited.
“He’s an undefeated guy so he’s going to come in here with a lot of confidence looking to show off his power. We’ll be ready though regardless how he comes into the fight. I had great sparring like always, so I’m prepared for what he’s going to bring.”
DERVIN COLINA

“Everyone knows I have unfinished business at 154-pounds. I’m not looking past Arias though. This fight is just a stop at middleweight because I’m going back down to take care of that business.
“We’ve had an amazing training camp with my new trainer Kay Koroma in Colorado Springs. I have a chip on my shoulder. I think a lot of people forgot who I was. I had the best resume in the weight class. Come Sunday, I’m going to remind everyone who I am.
“It’s always strictly business and it’ll be the same on Sunday. Arias is obsessed with my weight and thinks I’m struggling. But he needs to focus on what he needs to do on Sunday night.
“I don’t know where I’m rated right now, but I’m the best fighter at 154 livres. Showing that to the world is the goal on Sunday.
“We just took it back to the basics in training camp with my coach Kay Koroma. You can always learn more in the sport.
“I’ve been boxing for 15 years now and coach Koroma just helped me evolve the things I already knew. He’s got me not just coming forward and using my strength, but moving around and boxing a little bit.”
LUIS ARIAS
“I think the narrative is they needed an opponent for Jarrett Hurd, and I wasn’t looking so great lately. But people tend to forget I was 18-0 before I got my first blemish. When I was with Floyd Mayweather, J'étais 9-0 and that’s when I was most comfortable. That’s the mentality I’m taking into this fight.

But it’s too big of an opportunity and too big of a card to complain about the weight. We’re going to put the gloves on and whatever he weighs, he weighs. This is going to be the best fight on the card.”
CHAD JOHNSON
“I feel really good. I’ve been using boxing to prepare for football throughout the years, but I’ve never done it to this magnitude. To prepare for an actual fight, is something new. I’m facing a guy who does this for a living, so I’m not taking this lightly at all.
“I was always nervous before every kickoff. So I’d be a fool to say I’m not nervous going into something where I’m out of my element.
“One thing I’m extremely good at, is when there’s lights, cameras and a crowd, is going in there and entertaining.
“I’ve been working with Jorge Masvidal a little bit, but the last few weeks have been in Houston with Jermall and Jermell Charlo. That’s where most of my work has been. I’ve been doing everything possible to make sure I look the part Sunday night.
“I’m out of my element, so of course I’m approaching this fight humbly. He’s coming to knock my head off. Football is something I did all my life, that’s why I walked the way I did. I can’t be arrogant and take this fight lightly.”

Born in Stockholm, Jack (22-3-3, 13 KOs), who represented his father’s home country of Gambia in the 2008 Jeux olympiques, vit maintenant à Las Vegas. Jack won the 168-pound world title with a majority decision against Anthony Dirrell in 2015 and successfully defended the belt three times before being handed a hard-fought majority draw against James DeGale in one of 2017’s best fights. In his first bout at 175 livres, Jack stopped Nathan Cleverly to pick up the WBA light heavyweight title before fighting to a majority draw against then WBC champion Adonis Stevenson in May 2018. The 33-year-old Colina (15-0, 13 KOs) lives in Medellin, Colombie, and is a native of Venezuela. He steps in on short notice to make his United States debut against Jack. Colina has been training with renowned coach Stacy McKinley for the last two months in Pompano Beach, Floride.

“I really think the work in the gym will help so I don’t have ring rust. I’m a veteran. I’ve been here and done that. At this age, it’s better to have more rest than to be over trained. I had the right intensity in camp to make sure I’m not over trained.

“There were three judges and Julie Lederman had it for me and the two other guys had never judged a big fight before. We have two judges for this fight: the right hand and the left hand. C'est tout. LUIS ARIAS
“Camp has been excellent. Je suis excité pour la lutte. I think this is a perfect fight and a perfect opportunity. It’s a great matchup. I’ve been working on the right things to make sure I’m one hundred percent prepared for this fight and I think I’m catching Jarrett Hurd at the right time. He’s switching styles. “When this fight was brought to me, he was ranked No. 1 at the Ring Magazine at 154 and that’s part of why I wanted this fight. Leonard Ellerbe asked if I was willing to fight Hurd, and I said one hundred percent. It’s all about challenging yourself. This is another challenge and I never turn down a challenge. I’ve been in there with the best and there’s nothing that Jarrett Hurd can bring to the table that I haven’t already seen.
“A win puts me right back in the mix. I’ve always been just one step away from really getting into the mix with the big guys. My last couple fights have all been just one fight away from getting that world title fight. Once I beat Jarrett Hurd on June 6, I’ll be right there with the big dogs. He’s calling out Jermell Charlo and he wants to fight all these other big names, but he’s going to have to get through me. If he loses to me, I’ll be in position for the fights that he wants.
“It’s going to be a hard fight. If he wants to bang, we can bang. If he says he wants to box, he’s not the better boxer. But there’s only one way to find out and we’re going to find out in two weeks. I have to do everything that I can do to make sure that I show up and I impress.
“I’m still young and I’m still fighting my way through. I just needed to make the proper adjustments. I’m not going to be a desperate fighter. I’m going to go in there and fight the way I fight. I’ve always had championship-level fighting in me, but I just haven’t shown it. This is a perfect opportunity for me to show it.
“I’m coming after him. Je dois gagner. He’s not going to have to find me. I’m going to be right there. If I have to box him in the middle of the ring or if I have to put my head in his chest and dog him out, then that’s what I got to do. “Floyd called me in January last year and told me the rematch was on for April. That was last year. It’s been done since we walked out of the ring the first time, but I’m happy it’s finally done. I’m happy it’s here and I’m ready to put on a show.
“I’m trying to perfect everything in preparation for this matchup. Better nutrition. Better conditioning. Better sparring. I’m trying to be better at everything.
“This is my second fight with my new trainer Johnathan Banks. The first was just a tune-up fight. It wasn’t a high-level fight. It was an eight-rounder, so it was just like a sparring session. But I’m in way better shape than I was in the last camp and I’m ready to go.
“My fight is going to be a hell of a fight. Everybody knows that. It was a Fight of the Year contender last time. Floyd vs. Logan is going to be entertainment. That’s a different kind of fight, but Floyd is going to put on a show. All of the eyeballs are going to be on that night so it’s going to be a great night.

“Boxing is my life and I had to make the necessary changes to get back to this level. I’ve already been to the highest level and I fell short. ATLANTA (Décembre 26, 2019) – L'attraction la plus populaire de la boxe, Gervonta «Tank» Davis,et ancien champion unifié Yuriorkis Gamboa, s'est retrouvé face à face jeudi lors de la conférence de presse finale deux jours avant de se battre pour le titre WBA Lightweight vacant ce samedi, Décembre 28 en direct sur SHOWTIME de la State Farm Arena primée d'Atlanta lors d'un événement Premier Boxing Champions.
La conférence de presse a également présenté WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Jean Pascal et champion de deux divisions Badou Jack, qui s'affrontera dans l'événement co-principal, et l'ancien champion Jose Uzcategui et Lionell Thompson, qui se battent lors de l'ouverture de l'émission télévisée SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING à partir de 9 p.m. HE / 6 h, heure. «C'est la première fois que je combats à Atlanta. Je viens ici depuis plus de quatre ou cinq ans et je voulais me battre ici. Atlanta me montre toujours de l'amour et j'ai toujours pensé que me battre ici serait grand. Je savais que j'avais une grande base de fans ici.
«Samedi soir, nous allons avoir un gros combat. Merci à Gamboa d'avoir saisi cette chance. Samedi soir, ce sera un combat rempli d’action et nous verrons qui a ce qu’il faut.
«Je suis presque sûr que Gamboa a regardé mon dernier combat. Il dit juste qu'il n'a pas été arrogant. Je sais qu'il l'a au moins regardé se diriger vers ce combat. Nous verrons samedi soir. Il a été un peu arrogant, donc je dois lui faire payer.
«Je ne peux pas dire si j'obtiendrai le KO, mais je me suis entraîné très dur et je me suis concentré sur l'objectif principal, qui est d'obtenir la victoire. Je sais que Gamboa est un adversaire coriace et il mettra tout en jeu. Si ça va 12 tours, ça n'a pas d'importance pour moi. Je cherche à en faire un grand combat pour moi et aussi pour les fans.
«Je crois que je n’ai pas dépassé les neuf tours et je suis invaincu, donc je pense que c'est une bonne chose pour moi. Je fais ça depuis tant d’années que je crois que Gamboa ne peut rien apporter au ring que je n’ai pas vu.
«Je sais que je dois y venir concentré, fort et rapide. Voyons ce que tout cela donne. Je suis prêt et j'espère qu'il est prêt à donner aux fans ce qu'ils veulent voir.
«Samedi soir, tout le monde devrait chercher un grand combat, pas seulement de Gamboa et moi, mais toute la sous-carte. Samedi soir, les fans de combat gagnent. Nous apportons tous les deux tout et nous verrons ce que samedi soir apporte à chacun de nous. "
YURIORKIS GAMBOA
«Mon travail n’est pas de prêter attention à tout discours trash. Mon seul objectif est d'y aller à 150% et donne-moi tout. Je ne me soucie d'aucun des bavardages en dehors du ring.
«La confiance que j'ai vient de ma concentration et du travail acharné que j'ai mis dans ce camp. Je sais ce que je dois faire en décembre 28. Tout du camp a dévoilé comment je voulais mener à la nuit de combat.
«Je suis très reconnaissant d'avoir cette opportunité de me battre pour le titre mondial samedi soir. Je dois tirer le meilleur parti de cette position dans laquelle je suis. Je suis toujours au niveau où je sais que je peux concourir et battre les meilleurs combattants du sport.
«Ma concentration et ma discipline m'ont permis d'accéder au poste que j'occupe aujourd'hui. J'ai toujours beaucoup compté là-dessus et cela ne m'a pas encore déçu.
«Gervonta assommer ses adversaires et ne pas dépasser le neuvième tour est génial pour lui, mais je ne pense pas que cela ait quoi que ce soit à voir avec mon CV. J'ai affronté des combattants plus forts que Gervonta et j'ai pu les battre. Il n'apportera rien que je n'ai pas vu.
«Nous sommes ravis que le combat ait atterri à Atlanta et nous pouvons vous dire que les fans vont être très heureux du combat qu'ils verront samedi.. Je suis venu ici pour gagner et je suis définitivement prêt à tout faire 12 tours si je dois.
«J’ai eu un excellent camp d’entraînement et je sais ce que je peux donner samedi. Je donne tout et plus encore. Atlanta, être prêt. Nous allons vous donner une guerre. "
JEAN PASCAL
«C'est ma première fois dans la ville d'Atlanta et je devrai peut-être déménager ici après ma victoire de samedi soir..
"Je suis ravi de pouvoir montrer mes talents sur SHOWTIME samedi soir. Je suis au sommet de mon art et toute mon équipe m'a aidé à y arriver.

«Je sais que Badou a eu une longue mise à pied et il est frais et aura encore plus faim. J'ai toujours faim et ça en fera un super combat samedi soir.
«Je me bats au plus haut niveau depuis le dernier 11 ans. Ça veut dire quelque chose. Je suis un combattant spécial. J'ai des choses que personne ne peut enseigner, qui est un menton et un cœur.
BADOU JACK
«J'ai eu un excellent camp d'entraînement, ce que tout le monde dit, mais je me sens vraiment bien. Je suis 36 et je sens que je suis 26 de nouveau. Je ne peux pas attendre samedi soir pour entendre «et le nouveau».
"Je suppose que vous devez attendre samedi soir pour que je prouve que je l'ai toujours. J'étais plat contre Marcus Browne, quelle que soit la coupe, Mais je me sens beaucoup mieux cette fois que je ne l'ai fait avant ce combat.

«Je vais tout prendre un combat à la fois. Je pense que Pascal peut tirer le meilleur de moi samedi soir. Les styles font des combats et je pense que nos styles vont se mailler.
«Pascal et moi venons tous les deux se battre. Marcus Browne est un gaucher et il est plus évasif. Il est donc difficile de comparer. Pascal est un dur à cuire et je n'attends rien de moins qu'un combat acharné.

«Je suis reconnaissant d’être de retour dans cette position et je promets que la foule ne sera pas déçue. Je vais rester longtemps et je vais récupérer mon titre mondial.
«Je ne parle pas beaucoup, mais depuis qu'il dit que je n'ai que du pouvoir, nous verrons samedi. Ne parlez pas aujourd'hui, puis courez autour du ring.
«Après avoir assommé Lionell Thompson, nous verrons ce que Caleb Plant a à dire après cela. J'espère qu'il se lèvera et se battra. La seule raison pour laquelle Plant est champion est parce que j'ai raté.

«Je suis concentré sur la perfection. Je n'ai pas l'intention de faire d'erreur. Je sais ce que je peux faire. Quiconque a partagé l'anneau avec moi dira que je suis l'un des combattants les plus habiles du monde. Floyd Mayweather l'a même dit.
«Je sais qu'Uzcategui est difficile, mais je ne suis pas inquiet parce que je fais de mon mieux. Je crois que je serai victorieux. Je le respecte et il est définitivement une force avec laquelle il faut compter, mais je crois juste en moi.
