SAN ANTONIO (Maart 8, 2018) – Unbeaten three-division world champion Mikey Garcia and IBF Junior Welterweight World Champion Sergey Lipinets went face to face Donderdag at the final press conference before they square-off Zaterdag, Maart 10 live on SHOWTIME from Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio.

“Barrios is a really good fighter, I know he’s undefeated but if I execute my game plan and focus on what I’ve been working on in the gym I’ll be successful. I want to take him in to deeper waters, to the fourth and fifth rounds, and try to get him on his heels.
“I’ve been working really really hard on good defense and staying low. once I get past the third, fourth and fifth rounds that’s when the fight is really going to start.”

NEW YORK (Maart 8, 2018) – Despite taking the bout on less than five days’ kennisgeving, two-time world title challenger Petr Petrov is ready for his showdown with junior welterweight Ivan Baranchyk, deze vrijdag night on a Showtime Boxing: SPECIAL EDITION live op SHOW TIME(10 PM ET/PT)

Petrov arrived at the Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota, and he is confident going into this important fight.
“Ik voel me goed. I am always training, and was getting ready for a fight in a couple months in my native Spain, so I don’t find this to be a big deal to accept this fight on short notice,” Said Petrov.
What made it easy for him to take the fight, was the opportunity to fight for the number-2 position in the IBF.
“My goal is to be a world champion, and this fight gets me close to that. I don’t know anything about Baranchyk, but I know he has never fought anyone with my experience, and combined with being on the stages where I have competed will prove to be the distance op vrijdag nachts.”

Young to Face Reymart in WBA Eliminator on March 23 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Vrijdag, Maart 23, in the Event Center at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, promoter Kris Lawrence’s The Heavyweight Factory will present “Rumble at the Rock,” an 11-bout night of world-class professional boxing.
Featured in the night’s main event is a 12-round WBA Bantamweight Eliminator for the mandatory contender between WBA #4-rated southpaw Stephon “Showstopper” Jong (17-0-3, 7 KO) from Saint Louis and WBA #5 Reymart “GenSan Assassin” Gaballo (18-0, 16 KO) from General Santos City, Philippines. In the 10-round co-main, red-hot 19-year-old Hawaiian welterweight prospect Logan “The Korican Kid” Yoon (11-0, 11 KO) will face an opponent TBA for the IBF Youth World Championship.
Special guests expected that evening include former heavyweight champions Riddick “Big Daddy” Bowe and Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield.

For 29-year-old Young, the fight against Gaballo represents him getting one step closer to his dream of a world title after years as a contender.

Argentinian WBA super welterweight interim champion Brian Carlos Castaño (14-0, 10 KO) travels to France to make his first world championship title defense against challenger and former EBU titleholder Cedric Vitu (46-2, 19 KO) live from La Seine Musicale, in Parijs, Frankrijk.
“I look forward to the fight with the Frenchman Cedric Vitu. I want to put on a couple of great fights for the year coming up and the first should be with Cedric Vitu,” Castaño said.
Back in July, Castaño got his biggest win to date when he defeated Michel Soro in Evian, Frankrijk. Castaño is arguably the most gifted Argentine boxer to come along in many years. Prior to turning pro in 2012 he was highly regarded as an amateur.
During his amateur career that yielded nearly 180 wins, he beat 2012 Olympic Silver medalist Esquiva Falcao, U.S. Olympiër (and current IBF welterweight titleholder) Errol Spence Jr. and current middleweight standout Sergey Derevyanchenko.
Cedric Vitu held the EBU light middleweight title between 2015 en 2017, with three successful title defenses. Vitu first challenged for the EBU title in 2012, facing the undefeated Sergey Rabchenko in Manchester on the undercard of Ricky Hatton’s comeback bout against Vyacheslav Senchenko. Rabchenko, promoted by Hatton, prevailed on a split decision.
Op juni 2015, Vitu got another shot at the EBU title against Orlando Fiordigiglio in Brescia. He won the title beating Fiordigiglio by technical knockout in round 11. Back in France, Vitu retained his belt against Roberto Santos in December 2015 and Ruben Varon in March 2016. He was named European Boxer of the Year by the EBU on June 2016. Vitu notched another successful defense against Isaac Real on January 2017. In Mei, he fought in an IBF title eliminator against Marcello Matano. Vitu defeated Matano with a round 10 WHO, becoming the mandatory challenger to IBF champion, Jarrett Hurd. Following his win, Vitu vacated the EBU title.
The Super Welterweight championship fight will be supported in an explosive matchup between Souleymane Cissokho and Pavel Semjonon, and Ringstar Sports prospect, Geld Powell, IV vs. Gadzhimurad Ibragimov in a Super Middleweight bout.

Tampa, FL (Maart 7, 2018) – Welterweight up and comer Mark Reyes will face veteran Larry Yanez in the main event of Fight Night Promotions’ “Vrijdag Night Fights” Vrijdag, Maart 9 at the Florida State Fairgrounds Entertainment Center in Tampa, FL.

Living and fighting out of Tampa, Reyes started boxing at the age of 6, becoming a multi-time National Champion. His dream was to represent the US in the 2016 Olympics but his path to Rio was derailed by an injury. As a pro, the talented Reyes has a perfect 5-0 record met 3 wins by knockout and many industry insiders consider the 21-year-old to be one of Florida’s blue chip prospects.
Originally from Cuba and now residing in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Yanez is a fearless fighter who never turns down a challenge. He’s faced the likes of Gary Antuanne Russell, Samuel Seah, Rickey Edwards, Ivan Najera and Yoelvis Gamboa. In Novemebr 2012, Yanez upset previously unbeaten Jairo Martinez via unanimous decision.
The Reyes-Yanez fight is slated for 6 rondes.

“I want to take on these big opportunities because I want to challenge myself. This is another chance to prove to all the fans what kind of fighter I am.
“Everything depends on my opponent. If I find there’s an opportunity to go for a knockout, I’m definitely going to take it. If it goes 12 rondes, then he’s a very tough fighter and I expect Lipinets to be tough. I’m just going to do whatever it takes to win the fight. If the opportunity is there, I’m definitely going to go for the knockout because that’s what we’re here to do. I’m here to make the fight as easy as possible.
“Ik voel me goed. I’m fighting a bigger man naturally, so that’s something I have to get adjusted to but I still feel that my ability and my skills are enough to compete at the highest level with these men and that’s why I’m comfortable fighting at 140. I still feel that 135 might be a better fit for me because I’m a little bit of a naturally bigger, stronger man at 135, but at 140 I feel just as good as far as my speed, my footwork and my reflexes.
“It would be very nice to win a fourth division title. That would obviously be a big accomplishment in my career and it would be the second time I won the title here in the state of Texas. I have a lot of appreciation and love for San Antonio boxing fans.
“Some critics aren’t giving Lipinets much credit because he’s only had 13 gevechten, but that tells you how good of a fighter he is. It took me 30 fights to be a world champion. “My hand injury took place over the course of sparring. We were changing sparring partners two rounds at a time. I hit one of them at some point and the next morning [the injury] blew up. I didn’t really feel it at the time when I hurt it.
“It’s completely cured; there is no problem with the hand and you’ll see it in action op zaterdag nacht – no problem at all.”

“I studied [Relikh] a lot so I expect the same type of performance that I’ve studied, based off what he’s done in his past fights and what he did with me in our last fight. I know he’s strong, he’s a hard-hitter, and he always looks for that punch. I expect that this time around as well. He likes to exchange; that’s another thing I’m looking for. I know he’s going to come with all those tools in to the ring so I expect that and my team has prepared exactly for that.

(Maart 7, 2018) — USA Boxing heeft vandaag de voorlopige selecties voor de drie-steden USA vs. IRL Northeast Boxing Tour die van start gaatMaart 12 Royale Entertainment Complex Boston. Het toernooi gaat deze week verder op donderdag nacht, Maart 8, vanaf 7:30 PM bij Main Street Boxing, 156 Gramatan Avenue in Mount Vernon, met de 178 (licht zwaargewicht) Gewichtsklasse voor beginners. Op Vrijdag nacht, Maart 9, de 165 (middengewicht) De gewichtsklasse voor beginners zal deelnemen aan Work Train Fight, 636 Broadway in Manhattan, ook vanaf 7:30 PM.
