BELFAST (Augustus 18, 2018) – Former two-division world champion Carl Frampton knocked out Luke Jackson to retain his interim featherweight title Saturday at Windsor Park in Belfast in a doubleheader that streamed live on SHOWTIME Sports social platforms.

 

 

 

In the opening bout of SHOWTIME BOXING INTERNATIONAL, lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury shut out Francesco Pianeta to line up a 2018 showdown with WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder.

 

 

 

An encore presentation will air in primetime tonight at 10 p.m. ET / PT op SHOWTIME EXTREME®.

 

 

 

Frampton (26-1, 15 KO) turned in an impressive performance and scored his first knockout as a featherweight in what was a “dream” homecoming fight at the home of Northern Irish football. The former 126 and 122-pound champion now has his sights set at becoming a champion yet again in one of boxing’s deepest divisions.

 

 

 

After a dominant seven rounds, Frampton scored a knockdown via a body shot with 30 seconden te gaan in de achtste. Jackson (16-1, 7 KO) survived the eighth but was clearly hurt. With Jackson absorbing continued punishment in the ninth, and down big on the scorecards, Jackson’s corner threw in the towel at 1:21.

 

 

 

“This was unreal,” Frampton said. “The atmosphere was special, the crowd was fantastic and they made my dream come true. It was unbelievable from start to finish.”

 

 

 

Woede (27-0, 19 KO) established his jab against Pianeta (35-5-1, 21 KO) and displayed the movement, hand speed and footwork that a prime “Gypsy King” utilized to dethrone Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to become the unified and lineal heavyweight champion.

 

 

 

“I think it was a calculated boxing performance, as promised,” said Fury, who was fighting for just the second time in nearly three years. “We were able to get 10 good rounds in with a tough man. I was working on my boxing, trying to slip and slide, use the jab and get the rounds in. I was very happy with the performance.

 

 

 

“It’s no secret I need the rounds. I need to prove that I can go 10 rounds and have plenty left in the tank, and I did that tonight.”

 

 

 

Na het gevecht, Wilder entered the ring to announce that the two undefeated heavyweights have agreed to a 2018 showdown for Wilder’s WBC title. A date and venue for the event, which will be produced and distributed by SHOWTIME PPV, wordt binnenkort bekend gemaakt.

An expected 25,000 fans in Frampton’s hometown will witness the first boxing event at the home of Northern Irish football. The former IBF, WBA and WBO champion Fury (26-0, 19 KO) returned to the ring in June and will fight for the second time in less than 75 days following a nearly three-year layoff. Prior to his extended hiatus, the 6-foot-9 Fury established himself as the premier heavyweight boxer in the world by becoming the first man to defeat Wladimir Klitschko in more than 11 jaar.

 

 

 

Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 KO), a 6-foot-5 southpaw who fights out of Germany, has twice challenged for the heavyweight world title. Pianeta faced then-unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2013 and lost in a bid for a secondary title against Ruslan Chagaev in 2015.

“The old Tyson Fury is gone. The Tyson Fury from three years ago and beyond is finished. “I study my heavyweights and I know Francesco has fought some very good men. He had a very good winning spree, he was 28-0 when he fought Klitschko. I’m not underestimating Francesco. “In heavyweight boxing, if you take your eye off the goal for ten seconds you’re out of there. “Southpaws are a lot more awkward because there’s less of them in the division. You don’t get too much work with southpaws other than when you’re fighting with them. It’s hard to get southpaws to spar in training because there aren’t many heavyweight southpaws around the world. But I do have one interesting fact, every southpaw amateur or professional I’ve ever faced I’ve knocked out. That’s not good for Francesco.

 

 

 

“To be a two-time heavyweight champion is all right. It’s not great because there’s been plenty. To be a three-time heavyweight champion, it’s been done before. So I think I want to set a precedent of being a five-time heavyweight champion without losing a fight. That’s my goal. I always aim for the stars and set big targets.

 

 

 

“If I can beat Francesco Pianeta on Saturday night, I’ve beaten another boxer. Big deal. But if he beats me, he’s going on to something very big. It would be life-changing for him. It I can’t beat Francesco, then I’m going nowhere.

 

 

 

“I think I’m the greatest heavyweight that’s ever been born, so I should handle Francesco Pianeta. And whoever else is out there, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, all the bums out there.

 

 

 

“It’s very easy to win all the belts back. I’ve only got to beat two bums, in principe. Wilder and Joshua and that’s it. They both haven’t got a brain cell between them so it shouldn’t be too hard for a great boxer like myself.”

Three-time Irish Olympian Paddy “The Leprechaun” Barnes challenges World Boxing Council (WBC) flyweight world champion Cristofer “El Latigo” Rosales in the 12-round co-featured event. In a Special Heavyweight Attraction, undefeated former unified world heavyweight champion Tyson “Gypsy King” Fury continues his comeback in a 10-round match against veteran Francisco Pianeta.

The reigning WBO Intercontinental flyweight champion, Barnes (5-0, 1 KO) will also be fighting at home in Belfast in front of his passionate fan base. One of the greatest Irish amateur boxers of all time, Barnes will be fighting for a world title in only his sixth professional fight. He won two bronze medals (2008 & 2012) in his three trips to the Olympics, as well as gold in the 2019 European Championships.

 

 

 

“This is the fight that defines my boxing career,” Barnes claimed. “There were great achievements as an amateur including Olympic bronze medals, but that is only third place in the world, dat is geweldig. To be the best in the world at your weight, the WBC world championship is definitely the one to win. I did great as an amateur and people will remember me for what I’ve achieved, but a world professional title is what I really want. EDMONTON, Canada (Juli 30, 2018) – Resilient Canadian boxer Steve “De draak” Claggett (27-5-1, 17 KO) pulled off another impressive road victory last Saturday night, when he edged previously unbeaten defending champion Petros Ananyan (13-1-2, 6 KO) to capture the International Boxing Federation (IBF) International super lightweight title.

 

 

 

Presented by Lee Baxter Promotions, Claggett vs. Ananyan headlined the second installment of “SUPERBOX LIVE: – “Rise Up” – that aired across Canada exclusively on Super Channel, live from Powerade Centre in Brampton, Canada. Claggett, who overcame a flash opening-round knockdown, won a close 10-round unanimous decision by the three judges’ scores van 95-94.

 

 

 

A true road warrior, Claggett has now won four of his last five fights, highlighted by upsets of three previously unbeaten opponents, all on the road by way of 10-riound decisions, starting in 2016 tegen Emmanuel berooft (15-0-1) in Las Vegas for the North American Boxing Association (Ook) USA junior middleweight title, followed last October in Montreal versus highly-touted prospect Yves Ylyssee, Jr. (14-0) for the IBF North American crown, and the latest being Ananyan.

EDMONTON, Canada (Juli 17, 2018) – Canadese boksfans kunnen de langverwachte World Boxing Super Series bekijken (WBSS) cruiserweight kampioenschap finale zaterdagmiddag, zoals ze hebben gedaan tijdens de enorm vermakelijke halve finales en kwartfinales, exclusief op Super Channel.

 

 

 

Alle vier de belangrijkste sanctionerende riemen van de wereldtitel, meer De Ring riem van het tijdschrift, zal aan de lijn zijn in het Olympic Sport Complex in Moskou, wanneer WBC / WBO-kampioen Oleksandr “De kat” Usyk (14-0, 11 KO) en IBF / WBA-titelhouder Murat Gassiev (26-0, 19 KO) vierkant af voor de inaugurele Muhammad Ali Trophy, naast het bepalen van de eerste volledig verenigde cruiserweight-kampioen ter wereld in wat een legitieme Fight of the Year-kandidaat is.

Maar, daarnaast is er niets veranderd.

 

 

 

“Ik heb evenveel hardgelopen, fysieke training en sparring. Ik denk niet aan wat hij doet. Ik moet Murat Gassiev zijn en mijn best doen… Ik denk alleen aan mezelf, mijn vaardigheden en mijn conditie. Dat is het.

In de 10-ronde co-functie, voormalig wereldkampioen Briedis gezichten Brandon Deslaurier (11-1-1, 10 KO). De onbetwiste koningin van het boksen, ongeslagen Colombiaan Cecelia “Presidentsvrouw” Braekhus (33-0, 9 KO), die uit Finland vecht, verdedigt haar verenigde wereldtitels weltergewicht tegen de Russische uitdager Anders “Ijskoningin” Sagaydakovskaya (7-0, 3 KO) in een wedstrijd van 10 ronden. WBA International super middengewicht kampioen Fedor Chudinov(17-2, 12 KO) verdedigt thuis tegen Nadjib “IJzeren Djib” Mohammedi (40-5, 23 KO), van Frankrijk, in een gevecht van 12 ronden,
