L'excampió interí de pes mosca lleuger de l'AMB Jose Alfredo “toro petit” Rodríguez diu que està decebut que una espatlla luxada hagi acabat amb el seu recent repte del títol mundial, però promet tornar tan aviat com hagi acabat la seva rehabilitació.

Caribe Promotions loses rights to Shumenov-Dorticos WBA cruiserweight title fight; TGB Promotions awarded rights

LAS VEGAS (Gener 31, 2017) – The World Boxing Association (AMB) has notified WBA cruiserweight world champion Shumenov Beibu and WBA Interim cruiserweight title-holder Yunier Dorticós, as well as their representatives, that Caribe Promotions has lost its rights to promote the WBA mandated Shumenov vs. Dorticos title fight.
Dorticós’ promotor, Caribe Promotions, originally won the Shumenov vs. Dorticos title fight rights last November with a winning purse bid of $350,001, which required a fight date dins 90 dia. Although rumored to be held in mid-February in either Miami or Las Vegas, Caribe’s ability and willingness to actually promote the fight came into question in January, 2017. The WBA demanded that Caribe confirm its intentions and even granted Caribe additional time to respond, but Caribe failed to file confirmation of a fight date with the WBA. Because Caribe was unable to confirm its intentions, the WBA had little choice but to award rights to the second-highest purse bidder, Tom Brown’s TGB Promotions.
“I last fought 21 de de maig de and I have been in the gym since June because I was supposed to fight Lebedev in September,” said a terribly frustrated Shumenov. “But he backed out of the fight with me once again and I have been ready to fight since then. I signed a bout agreement to fight Dorticos on 11 de febrera Miami, but Dorticos and his promoter disappeared after I signed. They’re full of it; all they do is talk. I can’t wait to knock him out. I am waiting on my manager to call me right now to tell me the new fight date with TGB.”
Caribe Promotions has been forced to also forfeit its $35,000 purse bid deposit with 10-percent off the top going to the WBA and remainder ($31,500) distributed to Shumenov and Dorticos, respectivament, on a 75-25 percent basis due to its failure to promote the fight.
Shumenov (17-2, 11 KOs), fighting out of Las Vegas by way of Kazakhstan, fought last Maig 21, quan es va aturar 15-1-1 Júnior Wright al 10º round of their Las Vegas fight for the vacant WBA World cruiserweight title. Dorticos has made false claims in the media that Shumenov, who had been waiting for the WBA to rule on his petitions to force Lebedev to fight him without further delay, had been avoiding him. It is ironic now that Dorticos’ own promoter first sought to delay and has now defaulted on the long-awaited confrontation by failing to promote the Shumenov-Dorticos title fight within the WBA deadline.
A former WBA Super light heavyweight world champion, the 33-year-old Shumenov is the first two-division world champion from a Soviet-bloc country.

Team Rodriguez Setting Sights on ‘Chocolatito’
Josep A. Acevedo of Free Agent Boxing Management wishes to congratulate his fighter, Jose Alfredo “toro petit” Rodríguez, for winning both the UBF All-Americas and Latino Super Flyweight Championships in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield, Virginia, en dissabte (Desembre 10).
A former interim WBA Light Flyweight and WBC Youth World Light Flyweight Champion, Rodríguez, now ranked #15 per la Federació Internacional de Boxa, scored an eight-round decision over Puerto Rico’s former WBA Fedecentro Super Flyweight Champion, Edwin “Puto” Rodríguez (8-3, 5 KOs), no relation.
The victory marked the first time Sinaloa, Mexico’s Rodriguez had ever competed in the United States.
Although the Puerto Rican was able to get inside a few times, Rodriguez used his jab to keep him outside and controlled the action for most of the fight.
“Torito got some good rounds in against Rodriguez,” said manager Acevedo. “This will help him brush off that ring rust. I am very happy with his performance. Lee Baxter Promotions Card Postponed; McGuinness and Miljas to fight October 28

Toronto, Ontario, Canadà (Octubre 25, 2016) – Due to unforeseen circumstances, Lee Baxter Promotions’ card scheduled for Dijous evening at the Powerade Center in Brampton, Ontario has been postponed until further notice.

Two of Baxter’s fighters scheduled to appear on that card, 130 pound contender Logan “Cotton” McGuinness and heavyweight prospect Mladen “Monster” Miljas, will now fight Octubre 28 at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary, Alberta, Canadà.

A former NABA champion at 126, 130 i 135 lliura, McGuinness signed with Lee Baxter Promotions in July. McGuinness, 23-0-1 (10 Nocauts), is fighting for the first since May 2015 and meets Noel Rincon, 18-9-1 (10 Nocauts), of Mexico over eight rounds. Josep A. Acevedo of Free Agent Boxing Management proudly announces the signing of former world champion Jose Alfredo “toro petit” Rodriguez to a managerial agreement.
27-anys d'edat, Rodríguez (31-4-0, 19 KOs) de Sinaloa, Mèxic, won the Interim WBA World Light Flyweight Championship on November 19, 2011, by upsetting then 27-1 Nethra Sasiprapa of Thailand. He also won the WBC Youth Intercontinental Light Flyweight Championship in 2009 and made four successful defenses. He is also a former sparring partner of Nicaraguan four-division and current WBC World Super Flyweight Champion Roman “Chocolatito” González.
Currently looking for the third fight of his comeback after nearly two years off, 27-year-old Rodriguez plans to compete in the flyweight and super flyweight divisions.
“I am happy to sign with Free Agent Boxing,” va dir Rodríguez. “My career was on hold for a while, but I am back now and eager for my team to find me big fights. Taking some time off did me good. I have never felt this strong and healthy. I’m looking forward to getting a few more wins and then winning back my championship.”

Fortuna Returns with Impressive KO over Formerly Undefeated Cabrera

En dissabte night in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the Sambil Commercial Center in Santo Domingo, República Dominicana, former world super featherweight champion Javier “El Abejón” Fortuna returned to action with an impressive two-round blowout of fellow Dominican Marlyn Cabrera.
In his first fight since a surprise defeat last June to Jason Sosa that cost him his WBA World Super Featherweight Championship, Sort (30-1-1, 22 KOs) dropped Cabrera twice in the second round, eliciting the stoppage. It was Cabrera’s first loss as a professional.
Fortuna’s victory was one of three Sampson Boxing fighters to win Dissabtenit.
Undefeated 21-year-old Dominican super welterweight Jeison “Banana” Rosario (12-0, 9 KOs) destroyed formerly undefeated Carlos Jairo Cruz (ara 17-1, 11 KOs) in two rounds and 22-year-old super featherweight Abraham “Súper” Nova moved his record to 3-0, 2 KOs with a fourth-round knockout over Willy Morillo.
Fortuna looked sharp in his comeback bout, putting the explosive power and speed that makes him one of the most exciting fighters in all of boxing. With the victory over Cabrera in the books, the southpaw former champion will now be looking to regain his championship status.
Fortuna’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, says his fighter has two options to consider for his next fight.
“Next we will either look for an elimination bout for the IBF mandatory contender to fight Jose Pedraza or we will look to face the winner of Jason Sosa vs. Stephen Smith in Monaco on Novembre 12,” va dir Lewkowicz. “Javier wants to be champion again and he’ll fight anyone to get there.”
Rosario, a recent Sampson Boxing signee to a long-term promotional agreement, is a former amateur standout with a wealth of boxing talent. Cruz stood no chance against the Santo Domingo-based slugger.
“Jeison is a future star and I’m happy to have him in my stable,” seguit Lewkowicz. “I will get him a visa to fight in the USA and pay his IRS taxes, which I do for all my fighters.”
