QUINCY, Missa. (Març 26, 2024) – Promocions Granite Chin (GCP) ha anunciat el llançament del seu innovador torneig d'una nit, "Caixa de barbeta de granit apagada,” dissabte a la nit, Maig 11, amb un quartet de lluitadors de pes súper mitjà de Nova Anglaterra encapçalants “Targeta de boxa professional Rumble at the Rink, al Quincy Youth Arena de Quincy, Massachusetts.

James "Pitbull" Perkins (13-1-1, 9 KOs), Lynn, Massachusetts

Perkins és el favorit abans del torneig segons el seu palmarès professional i la seva qualitat d'oposició. Un enterrador durant el dia, Perkins va patir la seva única derrota l'agost passat davant Steve Sumpter (9-0, 7 KOs), perdent una decisió majoritària de vuit rondes pel vacant IBA America Supermidweight Championship.

"Tinc moltes ganes d'aquest esdeveniment. Sempre he volgut lluitar en un torneig perquè mai no vaig lluitar als Guants d'Or ni a cap torneig d'aficionats.. Vaig decidir convertir-me en professional després de la meva sisena lluita amateur. Encara és millor que l'esdeveniment se celebri en una pista d'hoquei perquè vaig créixer tota la vida jugant a hoquei.. Vaig començar a patinar als dos anys i vaig jugar fins a l'institut (St. Mary de Lynn).

"Estic preparat per fer front a qualsevol cosa que se m'arribi. Sé qui són tots els lluitadors, però conec a Clark molt més que els altres lluitadors. Jo i Clark hem lluitat amb la mateixa carta diverses vegades. M'agrada Clark i és un noi dur, però si acabem junts al ring, tot serà negoci. No serem amics quan estiguem allà dins. Al final de la nit, Estic molt segur que seré el guanyador del torneig".

Anthony "The Gentle Savage" Andreozzi (5-3, 2 KOs), Swansea, Massachusetts

Un antic campió de pes mitjà de Massachusetts, Andreozzi s'ha recuperat d'una brutal lesió a la cama/turmell patida fa més d'un any, tornant el passat mes de febrer 24º dins d'un nocaut a la segona ronda d'Igor Pessoa.

"És (torneig) trencant els límits segur. És el tipus de torneig on el control emocional serà important. No pots volar la teva càrrega a la primera ronda de la primera lluita i encara esperar tenir èxit. Tinc uns quants centenars de partits de lluita lliure i més d'una dotzena de partits de karate. Estic acostumat al control emocional necessari per fer efectiva la violència dues vegades en una nit. No puc esperar!

"Ryan Clark és un gran noi. Hem fet rondes abans de la meva lluita amb Kyle Cusick (Abril 22, 2022). Perkins va fer sis rondes dures amb un antic company meu. Bernard sembla un bon noi, així que res personal contra ell".

Bernat Josep (6-1, 4 KOs), Dorchester, Massachusetts

Joseph ha guanyat els seus dos últims combats i ha estat actiu amb quatre baralles 2023 i aquest serà el segon del 2024. El jugador de 33 anys també tindrà un avantatge de ciutat natal lluitant a Quincy, propera..

“És diferent (format de torneig), però depèn de la manera com entrenem. Faig molt sparring i això em anirà bé. Es tracta d'entrenar i acostumar el meu cos al descans com a sparring. Podria estar lluitant quatre rondes i després sis.

"Ara sóc un professional, lluitant contra sis rodons, però no amb una llarga pausa entre baralles com en aquest torneig. Em donarà temps per rehidratar-me i preparar-me per al segon combat de la nit. He vist vídeos de tots els altres lluitadors i no estic parlant malament de ningú, però no puc sentir que sóc el favorit per guanyar-ho tot”.

Ryan Clark (4-5, 2 KOs), Barrington, Maine

Un pes mitjà natural, Clark està pujant més pes al torneig, una cosa que és ben conscient però que no li preocupa massa. Un altre lluitador ple d'acció, El registre de Clark és enganyós perquè és tan dur com ells i capaç de derrotar a qualsevol dels altres tres rivals..

"És (torneig) és una gran idea. Chris (Traietti) és un noi intel·ligent, i aquest torneig oferirà entreteniment als aficionats, i serà un repte per als lluitadors. Aplaudeixo la seva idea. Normalment lluito a 160 i aquest torneig em fa lluitar en una classe de pes una mica més gran. M'agrada el repte.

"Conec Tony i Perkins i els respecto. Tenen talent. Aquest (torneig) és semblant al sparring. Faig cinc o sis rondes, quedar-se parlant, participar en una altra formació, i després tornar al ring per entrenar de nou. Això no és massa diferent".

Mexican Quartet announced for World Cup Boxing Series “4-Man Lightweight Tournament” February 24th in Mexico

LAS VEGAS (Gener 12, 2022) — World Cup Boxing Series (WCBS) has finalized plans for its inaugural “4-Man Lightweight Tournament,” presented by Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boxing Promotions, with the semifinals on February 24º at Palenque De La Expo in Ciudad Obregon, sonora, Mèxic.

At its 59º annual World Boxing Council (CMB) Convention in Mexico City this past November, the WBC committee approved to sanction the WCBS’ “4-Man lightweight Tournament,” created by CEO Terry Hollan and matchmaker Guy Taylor.

“We are extremely grateful for the WBC to sanction our upcoming ‘4-Man Lightweight Tournament,’” Taylor said. “The semifinals will be held February 24º, the championship final June 2nd. The World Boxing Council will crown the winner of the ‘4-Man Tournament’ as its new WBC Latino Lightweight Champion.”


“The WBC hopes to be able to sanction more World Cup Boxing Series tournaments and create great regional champions to enter our world rankings and achieve their goals with the WBC,” WBC Latino President Alberto Guerra commented.


The WCBS “4-Man Tournament” semifinals matchups have been announced: Luis “Koreano” Torres (14-0, 9 KOs) vs. Rodolfo “Rudy” Flores (14-5, 6 KOs), Alberto “El Alacan” Ruiz (11-4, 8 KOs) vs. Isai “Gaga” Hernandez (11-2-2, 7 KOs).


Semifinal’s action will be contested in 8-round bouts, 10 rounds for the championship final. The WCBS will also feature one “overtime” round, si és necessari, to declare a winner in the event of a draw upon the conclusion of the scheduled distance.


WCBS will also be offering a “Fight of the Night” and “Knockout” bonuses to each contestant through the duration of its “4-Man Lightweight Tournament.”

His last fight was an impressive 10-round decision over Guillermo Avila Godinez (19-11) this past December in Ciudad Obregon.


Flors, 26, has won two of his last three fights. His most notable wins have been by decision versus Jesus Acosta Zazueta (16-5-2) and Jairo Lopez (18-5).
A l'agost passat, Ruiz upset 15-0 WBC Latino Lightweight Champion Jair Valtierra by way of a fifth-round knockout to capture the crown.
Hernandez has won five of his last six matches, excluding a “no-contest” in his last fight against 13-0-1 Francisco Lopez, in which Hernandez was holding his own until the fight was stopped due to an accidental headbutt.


“To have undefeated Luis Torres, Mexico’s top-rated lightweight prospect, and the last one to be WBC Latino champion, Alberto Ruiz, in this tournament should show everyone the quality fighters we are providing,” Taylor concluded. “Any man can be defeated on any given night and that’s the beauty of a tournament model.”

ERICK GONZALEZ VS. ANDRES QUINTANA

Hailing from West Linn, Hores., Sonnen is fresh off his first-round victory over "Rampage" Jackson a Bellator 192 in the opening round of the Bellator Heavyweight World Grand Prix earlier this year. With other notable wins over the likes of Wanderlei Silva, Michael Bisping and “Shogun” Rua already under his belt, Sonnen now hopes to add the legendary Fedor to his brilliant resume of renowned victories. After jumping up in weight class to compete in the biggest tournament in the promotion’s history, the former University of Oregon wrestler doesn’t seem to have lost a step. Sonnen will look to join the select few who have ever been able to dethrone Emelianenko when he enters the cage on Oct. 13 at NYCB LIVE.

The first three star names have signed up for the inaugural season of the World Boxing Super Series. IBF Cruiserweight World Champion Murat Gassiev (24-0, 17 KOs), WBC World Champion Mairis Briedis (22-0, 18 KOs) as well as former IBF / WBC champion & IBF top-ranked challenger Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (53-3-1, 37 KOs) will all participate in the revolutionary global knock-out tournament, with five more elite fighters to be confirmed shortly. The winner will receive the GREATEST prize in boxing, the Muhammad Ali Trophy.
Boasting a combined record of 99 victòries i 3 losses along with 72 KOs, Gassiev, Briedis and Wlodarczyk can´t wait to get in on and write history.
“It is an honor to be in the World Boxing Super Series,” said Gassiev, who holds the IBF title. “This is the best fighting the best. I have never lost a fight, I am the IBF champion and I look forward to winning the other belts as well to cement my position as the best fighter in the division!”

With three high-profile signings confirmed and many more to come, the stage is set for an exciting tournament. “The quest for the Muhammad Ali Trophy has officially begun and we are thrilled to welcome two unbeaten world champions and a top-ranked challenger, who is a former champion, to the World Boxing Super Series,” Dalmiglio said. “They have accepted the ultimate challenge to determine the best cruiserweight in the world.”
Season 1 of the World Boxing Super Series will feature the cruiserweights and super-middleweight divisions. In each weight class, eight top fighters will battle out a bracket-style elimination tournament. There will be four quarter-finals (Setembre / Octubre 2017), two semi-finals (early 2018) and one final (Maig 2018), which makes for a total of 14 high-class fights. “We have received a massive amount of applications for both divisions,” said Kalle Sauerland, Comosa`s Chief Boxing Officer. “The best fighters are lining up to be in the tournament. Just like the fans, they love the format and the fact that there will only be one man standing at the end.”

The quarter-final pairings will be determined during the Draft Gala in Monaco in early July. In each weight class, the four top-seeded boxers (which will be determined by the Comosa Board) will select their quarter-final opponents from the four unseeded boxers. Once the pairings are set, the exact fight dates and venues will be announced. Details about the participants in the super-middleweight division will be revealed shortly.

“The GREAT EIGHT–140 pound Tournament” will gain exposure to those young fighters who are willing to take a chance to catapult their career’s to the next level.
Applicants for the tournament must have double-digit wins and no more than two losses.
Besides the fight purses, there will be a prize of $15,000 for the winner, $10,000 for the runner-up and $5,000 for third place.
“We are looking for the next contenders and champions in the junior welterweight division,” dit Promocions del Rei CEO Marshall Kauffman.
“We already have several quality fighters that have expressed a big interest in entering. We feel that there are a lot of fighters out there in this weight class that fit the criteria for what we are looking for and I am eager to hear from some of them.”
