Uncasville, Conn. – Abril 10, 2021 - Rising welterweight star Jaron "Botes" Ennis aced the toughest test of his professional career with a sensational sixth-round knockout win over former world champion Sergey Lipinets in the main event on Saturday night’s SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast, live on SHOWTIME from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., in a Premier Boxing Champions event.

The win puts Philadelphia’s Ennis (27-0, 25 KOs) one step closer to his first world title opportunity as he dismantled the former 140-pound world champion over six rounds of their welterweight battle. As he has done often throughout his career, the 23-year-old switched effortlessly between an orthodox and southpaw stance and exhibited tremendous power from both sides. Ennis finished the fight with an eye-popping 53% connect rate on his power punches and out-landed Lipinets 91 a 48.

“I’ll always be hard on myself when I look back at my performance,” said Ennis. “My goal is to keep getting better, sharper, faster and stronger so I can become world champion. The ringside judges scored the fight 115-112, 116-111 i 117-110 for Ancajas, while unofficial ringside scorer Steve Farhood tallied the fight at 114-113. Farhood agreed with the three official judges in giving the final three rounds to Rodriguez. Representing the fighting city of Philadelphia, Ennis has used sublime boxing skills and power in both hands to make his claim as the city’s next great champion.

Ennis put together a 16-fight knockout streak that included becoming the first person to stop Juan Carlos Abreu when he blasted out the longtime challenger in the sixth round in August 2020. Ennis was unable to extend that streak in December 2020, when his fight against Chris van Heerden was declared a no-contest after round one due to a clash of heads causing a severe cut on Van Heerden’s forehead.

Trained by his father Bozy Ennis, Ennis shared his thoughts on training camp, Lipinets and more below:

On headlining his first Showtime Championship Boxing card:

“It has made my schedule a little crazier. Being in the main event on SHOWTIME brings more attention, but I like it. I like being in the spotlight. I like to shine, so it’s nothing new to me. Now it’s fight time. I am locked in and ready to rock and roll.”

“We always do four-minute rounds in camp. I’ve been doing that since I was a baby. That’s another reason why I don’t sit down when I fight, because I am so used to the four-minute rounds. The three-minute rounds go by real fast on fight night. One thing we added this camp was the underwater treadmill work.”

On his final preparations:

On how he views his knockout streak:

Ennis (26-0, 24 KOs) is the latest in the pantheon of outstanding Philadelphia fighters, combining sublime boxing skills with natural power in both hands. After numerous appearances on ShoBox: La Nova Generació, the 23-year-old Ennis has graduated to headlining his first SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast. Heading into his last bout against Chris van Heerden, Ennis was riding a streak of 16 consecutive knockouts. That streak ended when the fight was stopped after the first round due to an accidental clash of heads that opened a severe cut on the forehead of Van Heerden.

“I’m excited to be back April 10,” said Ennis. “This is the type of fight I’ve been waiting for. I can’t wait to perform and put on a beautiful show. Y’all will see something special out of me come fight night. I’m excited to be the main event. It’s time for me to shine!"

The 31-year-old Lipinets (16-1-1, 12 KOs) established himself as a force at 140 pounds when he won the IBF world title with a victory over Akihiro Kondo in 2017. He lost the title to four-division world champion Mikey Garcia in 2018 and then moved up to welterweight in 2019. He served notice that he would be a contender at welterweight when he scored an impressive stoppage victory over two-division champion Lamont Peterson in 2019. Born in Kazakhstan and representing Russia, Lipinets now lives in Woodland Hills, California and is trained by renowned trainer Joe Goossen. Lipinets is coming off a hard-fought majority draw against undefeated Custio Clayton in October 2020.

“Training is grueling and I’m working hard with Joe Goossen to be at my best on fight night,” said Lipinets. “We have a tough, young fighter in Ennis who thinks I’m a stepping stone for him. But sometimes stepping stones trip you up, and I’ll be doing my best to trip him up on April 10. I’m just doing my best to get prepared for what I expect to be a dog fight. Every fan that knows boxing knows that this is going to be a real war and worth tuning in for. I expect we’ll be fighting in a phone booth at times, but I also expect him to try to use his reach and fight me at a distance at times. But no matter what he does, I’ll be ready for him.”

Stanionis (12-0, 9 KOs) has put together a string of impressive victories as he has climbed up the ranks from prospect to contender. He enters the match against Dulorme with four consecutive knockout victories. The 26-year-old from Lithuania, who now lives and trains in California, looked impressive as he picked up three solid victories in 2019, beating Samuel Figueroa via unanimous decision and scoring early stoppages against Julio Cesar Sanchez and Evincii Dixon. The undefeated welterweight has put the division on notice with back-to-back dominating main event performances in November and December 2020, when he notched ninth-round knockouts over Justin DeLoach and Janer Gonzalez respectively.

“This is my first time fighting on SHOWTIME and it feels like a dream come true,” said Stanionis. “Dulorme is experienced and has been a good fighter for a long time. He’s young and strong, but I have a lot more experience and I will show it in the ring and it will lead me to victory.”

Representing the Philippines, Ancajas (32-1-2, 22 KOs) was only 15 years old when he was spotted by boxing legend Manny Pacquiao. The young fighter blossomed with Pacquiao’s guidance, becoming the first world champion under Pacquiao’s promotional banner when he outpointed McJoe Arroyo for the IBF World Junior Bantamweight title in September 2016. The 29-year-old southpaw hasn’t lost since and will be making the ninth defense of his title when he faces Rodríguez. In his most recent outing in December, Ancajas stopped Miguel Gonzalez in six rounds.

“I am really looking forward to returning to the ring on April 10 for my first fight on SHOWTIME,” said Ancajas. “Everybody knows the great rivalry between the Philippines and Mexico, and I look forward to adding another explosive fight to that history. Fight fans know where all the action fights are right now, and that’s the 115-pound division. I’m thankful for this opportunity and I plan to make the most of it.”

Mexico’s Rodríguez (22-1, 16 KOs) was given the nickname “Titan” because of his prodigious power. Since suffering a disputed split-decision loss to Jose Martin Estrada Garcia in March 2018, the 25-year-old has won six straight, including a first-round knockout victory over Julian Yedras last December. He will be making his U.S. debut against Ancajas.

The 36-year-old, who was born in Chicago and now lives in Brooklyn, won the middleweight world title against Hassan N’Dam in 2012. He successfully defended it three times. He is coming off a no-decision against former super middleweight champion Caleb Truax on April 13 in an FS1 PBC Fight Night main event. He had taken the first two rounds on all three judges’ scorecards before the action was halted when a deep cut over Truax’s right eye, caused by an accidental head butt, brought an end to the fight and resulted in a no-decision.

“It looks like the Caleb Truax fight wasn’t meant to be, but this fight against Angulo is an important fight for me to establish myself in this division,” Said Quillin, who was originally scheduled to rematch Truax on August 31, before Truax withdrew due to an Achilles injury. “I’m ready to go 12 rounds right now. I just have to stay ready and stay in shape because we’ve had a great camp where we were able to build on certain things. This is what was meant to be and I’m going to make the most of it with a great performance on September 21.”

Angulo (25-7, 21 KOs) enters the match against Quillin after a knockout victory over Evert Bravo on April 20. The 37-year-old veteran, who was born in Mexicali, Mexico and now lives in Coachella, Califòrnia, has been in with some of the top boxers and sluggers during a career that has seen him in numerous exciting bouts against the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara amongst others.

A longtime contender, Dulorme (24-3-1, 16 KOs) earned a majority draw in his last fight against former world champion Jessie Vargas last October. The 29-year-old had previously dropped a narrow decision to top contender Yordenis Ugas in August 2017. That defeat came after a streak where the Puerto Rican fighter won eight of nine fights, with his only loss during that stretch coming in a title fight against Terrence Crawford.

At just 18-years-old, Ramos (10-0, 9 KOs) scored knockouts in his first nine fights since turning pro last May. The Casa Grande, Arizona-native most recently went the distance for the first time in his pro career, winning a shutout unanimous decision over Kevin Shacks in June on FOX.

Fighting out of Paterson, Nova Jersey, Edwards (12-3, 3 KOs) won his first 11 pro fights including victories over then unbeaten fighters Azriel Paez and John Delperdang. The 29-year-old most recently lost a decision to undefeated Mykquan Williams in May.

The 24-year-old Rosario (19-1-1, 13 KOs) has won his last five fights and is unbeaten in eight bouts since his only pro loss to Nathaniel Gallimore in 2017. The Dominican-born fighter residing in Florida has taken down a slew of contenders and top prospects including Jamontay Clark, Justin DeLoach, Marcos Hernandez and most recently, Jorge Cota on FS1 in April.

Russia’s Murtazaliev(16-0, 13 KOs), who now resides in Oxnard, California and is unbeaten since turning pro in 2014. The 26-year-old has delivered knockout victories over Elvin Ayala and Bruno Leonardo Romay in 2019.

LAS VEGAS (Agost. 27, 2017) – Futur membre del Saló de la Fama de la Boxa Floyd “Diners” Mayweather va acabar amb estil la seva històrica carrera en dissabte nit amb una contundent victòria per nocaut tècnic a la 10a ronda sobre la megaestrella de l'UFC Conor McGregor a l'esdeveniment principal d'un esdeveniment PPV SHOWTIME de quatre baralles del T-Mobile Arena de Las Vegas.
La Mayweather, de 40 anys, lluitant per primera vegada a 714 dia, va anunciar després de la lluita que mai més lluitarà, acabant els seus 21 anys de carrera amb estil controlant una lluita de tota acció que va emocionar els 14,623 fans presents i mirant arreu del món. Juan Heráldez es recupera de la derrota per guanyar la decisió Jose Miguel Borrego a Battle of Unbeaten Prospects

LAS VEGAS (Agost 26, 2017) – Contendent de pes welter Yordenis Ugas (20-3, 9 KOs) es va endur una victòria per decisió unànime Thomas Dulorme (24-3, 16 KOs) tot i haver estat enderrocat a Mayweather vs. Acció preliminar de McGregor presentada per Mayweather Promotions a FOX i FOX Deportes dissabte a la nit des del T-Mobile Arena de Las Vegas.
Els dos homes van intentar establir el seu jab a la primera ronda, però a la segona ronda Ugas va aconseguir un gran uppercut que va sorprendre Dulorme i el va obligar a agenollar-se.. Dulorme es va aixecar i va intentar disparar, però va ser colpejat amb una mà dreta que el va fer caure per segona vegada a la ronda..
“Va ser una gran baralla,” va dir l'Ugas. “Sabia que Dulorme tenia un gran campament preparant-se per a Shawn Porter, així que quan el vaig derrocar vaig pensar que s'aixecava.. Només tenia nou dies per preparar aquesta lluita, així que vaig haver de ser intel·ligent i no malgastar res.”
“Va ser una bona baralla,” Said Dulorme. “Va ser una lluita molt dura. Vaig venir a lluitar i el vaig prendre seriosament. Vaig seguir treballant. Va anar amunt i avall però vaig seguir treballant.
El combat es va definir per una bona acció d'anada i tornada amb els dos homes controlant els seus moments. Dulorme es va comprometre a atacar el cos per frenar Ugas, però va rebre un avís per cops baixos a la cinquena ronda.. Tanmateix, Dulorme va continuar provant el cos i es va desviar massa a principis de la setena ronda, obligant l'àrbitre Vic Drakulich a restar un punt.
La deducció semblava encendre foc sota Dulorme que va avançar i va començar a trencar la defensa d'Ugas. Un uppercut va sorprendre temporalment a Ugas a la meitat de la ronda i Dulorme va seguir poc després amb un ganxo d'esquerra que va posar Ugas a la lona..
“Quan em van enderrocar vaig saber que m'havia d'aixecar i mostrar cor i coratge,” va dir l'Ugas. “Aquesta era l'única manera de fer-ho.”
L'impuls de la lluita va continuar canviant de cara a l'última ronda quan Dulorme va tornar a llançar un cop baix que va obligar l'àrbitre a restar un punt al principi del marc.. Els dos homes van avançar els últims minuts de la lluita buscant un altre cop decisiu però després 10 rondes, la lluita va quedar en mans dels jutges.
“Vaig pensar que l'àrbitre va perdre la lluita per mi,” Said Dulorme. “No estava d'acord amb ell. No pensava que estigués llançant cops baixos. Vaig pensar que estava net. Vaig pensar que estava cansat al final de la lluita, així que vaig intentar augmentar la pressió. Però va ser dur perquè l'àrbitre no em va deixar treballar per dins com jo volia.”
“Em vaig cansar una mica al final i hauria d'haver tancat l'espectacle,” va dir l'Ugas. “Però això passa amb baralles de poca antelació. Només he de seguir millorant.”
Els tres jutges van veure l'enfrontament a favor d'Ugas per unes quantes 94-91 i 93-92 dues vegades.
“Tornaré al campament i seguiré aprenent,” Said Dulorme. “No estic content, però vaig a seguir aprenent. Avui he baixat del terra i he seguit lluitant i ho seguiré fent durant la meva carrera.”
Va veure l'inici de la transmissió Juan HERALDEZ (13-0, 8 KOs) encaixa el camí cap a una decisió unànime José Miguel Borrego (12-1, 11 KOs) en la seva lluita de 10 aspeses de pes welter.
“Estava molt preparat i vaig aprofitar aquesta oportunitat,” va dir Heráldez. “Vaig executar el meu pla i vaig sortir amb una clara victòria. A part de la caiguda, Vaig pensar que l'he sortit a la caixa cada dos torns. “El jab va ser realment la clau d'aquesta nit. Vaig dictar tot el jab i vaig intentar utilitzar els meus angles, el meu treball de peus i el meu moviment. Vaig fer el que volia fer.”
Heráldez va controlar l'anell durant gran part de la lluita amb el seu jab i moviment a l'exterior, mentre que Borrego semblava concentrat a llançar cops de potència i un nocaut. Heráldez va controlar el ritme a les primeres rondes, aterrant combinacions de puntuació abans de llançar-se fora del camí i evitar el foc de retorn de Borrego.
“Heráldez va dirigir tota la lluita,” va dir en Borrego. “Estic content que els aficionats hagin esbroncat la decisió perquè saben que va córrer. Vaig venir a entretenir els aficionats i això és el que vaig fer.”
El jove Borrego, de 19 anys, es va conformar amb cobrir-se i abaixar-se mentre intentava navegar pel jab d'Heráldez., però no va poder aterrar prou ganxos esquerres per guanyar les primeres rondes de la lluita. Va tenir el seu primer moment al final del sisè quan un ganxo esquerre en bucle va connectar amb Heraldez i va semblar atordir-lo just abans que la campana acabés la ronda..
Borrego va continuar atacant de manera agressiva mentre perseguia Heráldez amb cops de gran poder. A la novena ronda, Borrego va connectar net amb un ganxo d'esquerra que va posar Heráldez a l'estora a mitja ronda..
“Em vaig deixar distreure i per això em vaig assolar,” va dir Heráldez. Em vaig avançar una mica. Sóc l'única persona que em pot aturar.
Tot i la contínua agressió de Borrego, Heráldez va poder aguantar i sobreviure a la ronda sense més danys.
“He de tallar millor l'anell,” va dir en Borrego. “També he de deixar anar més les mans i llançar tres o quatre combinacions de cops en lloc de només una o dues alhora.”
L'última ronda va veure que Heráldez va tornar a utilitzar el seu moviment, ja que va poder evitar la càrrega de Borrego durant els últims tres minuts.. Després 10 rondes, els tres jutges van anotar el combat a favor d'Heráldez per dotzes de 96-93 i 97-92 dues vegades.
“Em sento genial estar en aquest escenari i són moments com aquests on puc sortir i competir i puc demostrar la raó a tots els que m'han donat aquesta oportunitat.,” va dir Heráldez. “Aquesta va ser una lluita amb perspectiva i ara estic en coses més grans i millors. LAS VEGAS (Agost 24, 2017) – Els combatents que competeixen al Mayweather vs. McGregor undercard va parlar amb els mitjans de comunicació i es va enfrontar cara a cara Dijous, un dia abans que pesin per davant dels seus Dissabte, Agost. 26 enfrontaments al T-Mobile Arena de Las Vegas.
L'esdeveniment PPV SHOWTIME de quatre baralles, començant en directe a 9 p.m. I/6 p.m. PT, comptarà amb una estrella emergent invicta Gervonta “Tanc” Davis fent la segona defensa del seu títol de 130 lliures contra un rival invicte Francisco Fonseca més campió de pes semipesat Nathan Cleverly defensant el seu cinturó contra l'antic campió de pes súper mitjà Badou Jack. La retransmissió comença amb invicte Andrew Tabiti i l'ex campió del món Steve Cunningham trobada en una batalla de 10 rondes.
La cobertura comença a FOX i FOX Deportes amb un programa de prefight d'una hora a les 6 p.m. I/3 p.m. PT. Les preliminars de FOX i FOX Deportes comencen a les 7 p.m. I/4 p.m. PT i veurà una batalla entre els contendents de pes welter Thomas Dulorme i Yordenis Ugasmés un enfrontament de perspectives invictes com Juan HERALDEZ es reuneix José Miguel Borrego en un combat a 10 assalts.
L'acció addicional dins de l'arena es veurà invicte Kevin Newman (7-0-1, 3 KOs) en acció de pes súper mitjà i el debut professional de 2016 Savannah Marshall de Londres.

LAS VEGAS (Agost 23, 2017) – La setmana de lluita per l'esdeveniment més gran de la història dels esports de combat va continuar dimecres Floyd Mayweather i Conor McGregor es va enfrontar a la roda de premsa final abans del partit de SHOWTIME PPV aquest Dissabte, Agost. 26 del T-Mobile Arena de Las Vegas.

“Tothom sap que puc lluitar. Puc donar-ho i puc agafar. Però per arribar-hi 49-0, és evident que no el rebo, Ho dono molt més sovint.
“Conor McGregor és un lluitador infernal. És un competidor dur. Serà suor de sang i llàgrimes Dissabte nit. Això és el que volem donar a la gent de tot el món. Ara es tracta de sortir tots dos i mostrar les nostres habilitats.

“Ens preparem per a això cada dia al Mayweather Boxing Club. Estem fets per a aquesta etapa. Tenim molts lluitadors joves i nois amb més experiència cada dia. Sempre parlem escombraries i ens quedem a l'orella.
“Això és fantàstic per a la ciutat de Las Vegas. Es tracta de tornar i jo estic donant a la meva casa de Las Vegas. Aquesta ciutat m'ha rebut amb els braços oberts des del primer dia. Estem fent grans números. És la lluita més gran de la història. No és només una baralla, és un esdeveniment. Es tracta de batre els meus propis rècords.

“Quan estigui tot dit i fet, em sentiré una mica trist. Hauries d'haver mantingut la boca tancada i m'hauries deixat on era. Aquest home no està al meu nivell. No és una quarta part de l'home que sóc. Tothom es menjarà les seves paraules en dissabte.
“És un home apallissat. No podrà suportar la ferocitat amb què vinc. Tinc molta confiança. Tinc més habilitats en moltes àrees i com un veritable artista marcial, Puc adaptar-me a qualsevol situació.
“Mai he perdut pes a la meva vida i aquesta vegada no passarà. He tingut el meu nutricionista pràcticament vivint amb mi durant tot el campament. Estem preparats i ens sentim molt bé amb el pes ara mateix. El pes s'ha pres seriosament i Floyd pot seguir desitjant que em perdi el pes.
