Veteran Houston super featherweight Pablo “The Lethal Mosquito” Cruz (22-4, 6 KOs) out-boxed his Mexican opponent, Jonathan “Zorro” Lecona Ramos (18-32-5, 6 KOs) en route to a 6-round unanimous decision.

LAS VEGAS (Setembre 16, 2019) – The next wave of Reno boxers will continue its rich boxing tradition October 25 a “RJJ Boxing on UFC FIGHT PASS®,” co-promoted by Joey Gilbert Promotions in association with Silver Legacy Resort Casino at THE ROW in Reno, Nevada.

Local boxers such as featherweight Ricardo Lucio Galvan (2-0, 2 KOs) i súper lleuger Wilfred Mariano (1-0, 1 KO) are all slated to fight on the Oct. 25º card against opponents to be determined.

Organized boxing was held during the early 1880’s in small mining towns in the Northwest section of Nevada, professional boxing matches were conducted there later that century.

Saló de la Fama del promotor Tex Richard and legendary heavyweight Jack Johnson first put Reno on the boxing map on July 4, 1910, when World heavyweight champion successfully defending his title against James J. Jeffries, stopping him in the 15º round at what was reportedly the only venue ever built for a single boxing event. Quan President William Taft declined Richard’s offer to referee, Richards became the third man in the ring. Boxing stars including Jake Kilrain, Tommy Burns, i Abe Attell were introduced to the reported crowd of 16,528.

Richard first brought another Hall of Fame heavyweight champion, Jack Dempsey, to Reno in 1915 for his ninth pro fight, when Dempsey stopped Emmanuel Campbell in the fourth round at Airdrome Arena. To fight, Dempsey had to “ride the rails” from Utah to Reno, stored away on a train with hobos. Dempsey returned three years later to knockoutJack Moran in the opening round at Moana Spring Arena.

Dempsey may have been involved in unsanctioned fights in Reno as well. Desperate for money during the early part of his boxing career, Dempsey is infamous for walking into saloons and saying, “I can’t sing, and I can’t dance, but I can lick any SOB in the house.”

En 1982 en HBO, future Hall of Famer “Sucre” Ray Leonard successfully defended his World Boxing Council (CMB) i l'Associació Mundial de Boxa (AMB) welterweight World titles at Centennial Coliseum, noquejar Bruce Finch in round three.

Reno-based Gilbert’s first three (2001-2003) and last three (2010) pro fights were held in Reno, where he had a 7-2 (6 KOs) registre professional.

Àrbitre del Saló de la Fama Mills Lane was an adopted son of Reno, arguably the No. 1 referee in the world of boxing, during his high-profile stretch of activity.

Reno has also hosted major amateur boxing events like the 2016 NCBA (college) Western Regional Championships at the Eldorado Hotel and USA Boxing’s 2018 Western Elite Qualifier and Regional Open. Reno will host the 2020 Western Elite Qualificador & Regional Open, Març 21-28, 2020.

Undefeated super lightweight prospect Kendo “Tremendo” Castañeda (16-0, 7 KOs), fighting out of San Antonio, faces Estonia-native Stan Martyniouk (20-2, 6 KOs), who lives in Belmont, Califòrnia, in the eight-round main event on Oct. 25º.

The co-featured event pits undefeated Sacramento cruiserweight Blake McKernan (10-0, 2 KOs) contra Francisco Rivas (15-2, 5 KOs), de Mèxic, en una baralla de vuit assalts.

LAS VEGAS (Març 14, 2015) – Ahir a la nit de 50 anys d'edat del CMB #16 contendent de pes pesat, “Bronco” Billy Wright (47-4, 38 KOs), aniquilat Gilberto Matheus Diumenges (22-3, 20 KOs), aturar el brasiler amb un dur cop devastador a la1:15 marca d'una ronda. L'acte principal de 10 rondes va tenir lloc el Promocions JJR boxa al We Ko Pa Casino de Fort McDowell, Arizona.

 

Amb la victòria, “Bronco” Billy va retenir el seu CMB LLATINOAMERICÀ iFECARBOX títols mentre ampliava la seva ratxa de victòries a 18, 14 dels quals van arribar per la via del nocaut en baralles consecutives .

 

 

“Estic molt agraït per l'oportunitat de defensar els meus cinturons CMB aquí als Estats Units, ja que ha passat molt temps des que vaig combatre aquí.” dir Bronco Billy Wright. “Maurici Sulaimán ha estat un home de paraula, fent-me pujar a la classificació mentre continuo guanyant baralles. Ara mateix sóc un #16, mirant per trencar la part superior 15 amb aquesta victòria. Contra Domingos, Volia fer una declaració i acabar la baralla aviat amb un nocaut. El pla era entrar i aconseguir tants cops de cos poderosos com fos possible. Va funcionar i vaig sortir al capdavant. Continuaré pujant al rànquing del CMB amb l'objectiu d'aconseguir una gran lluita contra qualsevol dels principals contendents.. El problema és, cap d'aquests nois volen lluitar amb mi. Estic preparat per enfrontar-me a tots els que m'arriben.”

 

Addicionalment, Bronco Billy va gravar el seu 29a vuitens de final. Un dels seus objectius és batre el rècord de pes pesat de nocauts a la 1a ronda de Shannon Briggs que es troba en 35.

“Sé Diumenges es va a buscar el nocaut com I am, així veurem qui aterra la primera bomba. Com en totes les meves baralles, Miraré d'acabar la baralla abans d'hora. Si necessito fer algunes rondes addicionals, Estic bé amb això, ja que estic en bona forma boxa. Ell va a provar una mica del meu poder, això és segur.

 

Bronco Billy comenta a defensar el seu títol del CMB….

“Defensar la meva CMB LLATINOAMERICÀ i FECARBOX els títols són molt importants per a mi. És la meva influència per competir al màxim nivell mentre intento superar els deu primers del WBC. Ara mateix estic a #17, però tinc la intenció d'ascendir en cada baralla aquest any.

 

Bronco Billy discuteix ser un contendent de pes pesat de 50 anys d'edat….

“A aquesta edat em sento més fort que quan era petit. És la força d'aquell vell, suposo que la podeu anomenar. Sóc més intel·ligent, més savi i disciplinat en aquesta etapa de la meva carrera. Tinc l'objectiu de convertir-me en el campió mundial de pes pesat i la motivació és més gran que mai. Molts d'aquests principals contendents s'estan defugint de lluitar amb mi. Només vull guanyar-me la meva oportunitat i lluitar contra el millor.
