The co-main event will see the WBO NABO Jr. Welterweight Title on the line as Santiago, who hails from the Dominican Republic, meets fellow countrymanJavier Fortuna(39-5, 28 KO). Santiago, 30, returns to the ring on the heels of a statement first-round TKO victory over Mexico’s Pedro Campa in November 2024. Currently on the strength of three straight victories, Santiago captured the WBO NABO Jr. Welterweight Title last June when he defeated Angel Fierro via unanimous decision, e il marzo 1, Santiago will attempt to defend his title for the third time. A promising heavyweight prospect, Taylor signed with Salita Promotions in November 2024, and has since gone 2-0 under the banner, both victories coming by way of knockout. Standing at 6-foot-4, Taylor is a former collegiate basketball player and has won two New York Golden Gloves title.

Bayamón, Puerto Rico – Competitive fights are what the company Fresh Productions Boxing will offer by way of the “Taínos vs. Aztecas” card, happening this Saturday, November 9th in the Rubén Rodríguez Coliseum in Bayamón.

Every fight of this event will be Puerto Ricans against Mexicans as a tribute to the legendary, relevant, and exciting rivalry of the sport.

As if that were not enough, the recent WBO NABO champion at 140 libbre, and ranked #8 by the organization, Alfredo ‘Ojo’ Santiago (15-2, 6 KO), from Fajardo, will defend his title against Mexican Pedro ‘La Roca’ Campa (36-3-1, 24 KO), from Sonora, Mexico in a 10-round fight.

Anche, in a battle that promises plenty of action, Cidra’s Abimael “Manos de Piedra” Ortiz (10-1, 5 KO) will face Mexican world contender Kevin “El Chacal” González (27-1-1, 14 KO) of Sinaloa in the 122-pound division, slated for 10 round.

To open the broadcast, former Puerto Rican national champion Luis Rodríguez (13-0, 11 KO) of Toa Alta, will battle Mexican Marcos “Zurdo” Vázquez (20-1-1, 10 KO) in the super middleweight division.

Los Angeles – March 12, 2021 – Ring City USA, the new sports media startup that debuted its Thursday night boxing series in November 2020, announced a stacked undercard today for its March 18 evento, the next fight night of the boxing outfit’s three-event residency in Puerto Rico. The three-fight main card will begin at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Network in the United States and Puerto Rico, and on Twitch for fans outside of the U.S, live from Albergue Olimpico (Olympic Center) in Salinas.

The six-fight event is headlined by another chapter in the iconic Puerto Rico vs. Mexico ring rivalry asAlberto Machado (22-2, 18 KO) di Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, battaglieAngel ‘Tashiro’ Fierro (17-1-1, 13 KO) di Tijuana, Messico, in a ten-round lightweight bout. Machado was previously slated to fight undefeated prospect Hector Tanajara who was forced to withdraw due to illness.

In the evening’s co-main event from Puerto Rico, Jose ‘Chiquro’ Martinez, (21-1-2, 14 KO), of Las Marias, Puerto Rico, clashes with three-time world title challengerIsrael ‘Jiga’ Gonzalez (26-4, 11 KO) of Los Cabos, Messico, in a ten-round bantamweight bout.

The 28-year-old Martinez looks to stay in the win column following a second-round knockout of Yeison Vargas in February 2020 in San Juan, P.R. His last four victories have come by knockout.

Following a hard-fought twelve-round decision loss to pound-for-pound great Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez in October 2020, the 24-year-old Gonzalez defeated Samuel Gutierrez just two months later in December 2020 in San Lucas, Messico. Martinez has also challenged world champions Khalid Yafai and Jerwin Ancajas for their title belts in the last three years.

Boxing saved the life of Two-Division World Champion “El Gallo” Jose Antonio Rivera

COLORADO SPRINGS, Giro. (Giugno 4, 2020) – Like many boxers, campione del mondo due divisioni "Il Gallo" Jose Antonio Rivera credits boxing for saving his life.

“Absolutely,” Rivera agreed. “After my mom passed away when I was 10 anni, I gave up on life and my decision-making reflected that: hanging around with the wrong crowd including gang members, consuming alcohol between the ages of 10 and 15. I was definitely going in the wrong direction.

“I never thought I had a future until I started boxing. It’s hard to say what I’d be doing if I had never boxed, but by the way I was living, I’d probably be in jail or dead by now.”

Born in Philadelphia, Rivera lived in Puerto Rico and Springfield, MA, prior to him moving to Worcester, MA, where he met a man who helped change his life, Carlos Garcia, who was in charge of a special boxing program at the Worcester Boys & girls Club.

Rivera had started boxing at the age of 14 ½ in a basement with his friend, Felix Lopez.  He had fallen in love with boxing after watchingRoberto Duran rovesciato"Zucchero" Ray Leonard in their first fight. The young Puerto Rican-American specifically used his amateur boxing experience to prepare for the professional ranks. Garcia, who is in the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame, put him in a novice match after only one amateur fight in order to put Rivera on the fast track, because he understood that Rivera dreamed of becoming a world champion as a professional. Rivera finished with a 35-15 registrare amatoriale, highlighted by a bronze medal performance at the PAL Nationals.

“I never had big amateur aspirations but, naturalmente, I wanted to win every fight I competed in,” Rivera said. “Once I didn’t qualify for the Olympic Trials, my plan was to turn pro. I didn’t know how much the amateurs would groom me to be a successful professional boxer. I’m glad I listened to my coaches, otherwise I would have turned pro earlier, because I would get frustrated with the politics of the amateurs. I hated losing, but I hated losing even more when I knew that I should have won. After three years together (with Garcia) in the amateurs and gaining a great wealth of experience traveling all over New England, the country and even fighting in Canada, I saw all types of styles and talented boxers that helped me as a pro. Carlos is like a father figure to me and during all of our training and travels, he was always in my head, building me up to become a good boxer, but also to help me become a better man.”

Novembre 7, 1992, Rivera made his pro debut, buttando giùFrancisco Mercedes in the second round. He went on to win his first 23 pro bouts, including the Massachusetts State welterweight title in 1995. His first pro loss was to veteran Philadelphia fighterWillie Wise (20-3-4), who won a controversial 10-round split decision at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. Showing the same resiliency that stayed with Rivera his entire career, two fights later Rivera stoppedGilberto Flores in two rounds to capture the International Boxing Organization (IBO) world welterweight championship. Rivera extended his new win streak to seven, before losing back to back fights. Four fights later, anche se, Rivera registered his first statement victory in 2001, buttando giùFrankie Randall (55-10-1) nel 10th round to retain his North American Boxing Association (Anche) crown in his first defense.

Now promoted by legendary Don King, Rivera traveled across the Atlantic Ocean in September 2003 to Germany, where few Americans were able to win. Rivera retired in 2008 only to make a comeback in 2001, after which he retired again until returning for two fights in Worcester to complete his pro career with 50 combattimenti, the last coming at the age of 46.

Rivera was a true working world champion. Few world champions also had full-time jobs during their title reigns. Rivera used vacation time, as well as personal and sick days, when he went to training camp for some of his major fights.

“I always had a good work ethic growing up,” he explained. “When I moved to Worcester at 16 anni, I lived by myself: school, work, and then to the Boys & Girls Club to train. I kept the same work ethic I had at 19 when I turned pro. I became a father at 20, so providing for my family was essential. Although it was hard, I knew boxing wasn’t going to last forever, and I was lucky enough to find a good job working for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Trial Courts. It made for long days when I was training, especially when I was fighting for or defending my world championships. In the end, anche se, keeping my job was the best decision I could have made for me and my family.”

Rivera. who was an Associate Court Officer for years and promoted last year to Assistant Chief Court Officer, is still involved in boxing. He and his oldest son, A.J. Rivera, own and operate a boxing promotional company, Rivera Promozioni Intrattenimento, to give young fighters in his area opportunities to fight more often and at home. Jose occasionally drops by the Boys & Girls Club to visit his former coaches, Garcia andRocky Gonzalez, to support their young talent. He also goes to his friendKendrick Ball’s gym, Camp Be Right, to give young fighters there a few tips and to keep in shape (not for another comeback).

Jose Antonio Rivera will be best known for his toughness and determination, which led him into a different life, including three world championships and a wonderful life he never would have enjoyed.

HARTFORD, Conn. Il WBO bambini Drug Free Program continua a incidere portoricano bambini

In un ambiente familiare di festa, la World Boxing Organization (WBO), attraverso il suo programma di successo WBO bambini Drug Free, biciclette consegnate, materiale scolastico e articoli sportivi per i bambini del Cubuy nella città di Canóvanas, Puerto Rico.

L'evento è stato guidato dal presidente WBO Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel, Esq, Chuito allenatore di Gesù’ Ayala, e arbitrare José H. Rivera.

“Ogni giorno lavoriamo con i bambini per essere campioni del mondo sul ring o, ma ancora più importante, nella vita. Lavoriamo per essere disciplinato per la vita. Ringraziamo la WBO per aiutare in questo processo con la loro attività per i bambini, che sono il futuro”, ha dichiarato il tecnico Ayala.

WBO Presidente Valcárcel tutti detto presente che “il lavoro ognuno sta facendo qui è enorme. Grazie a alla gente piace ‘Chuito’, che lavorano molto duro e disinteressatamente per il bene della bambini, che sono la nostra priorità. Qui diamo loro dei regali possono prendere a casa perché si sono comportati bene. Se rispettano i loro anziani, comportati bene, e rispettare i loro genitori, i Re Magi arriveranno”.

Partecipare alla manifestazione sono stati interim Latino campione WBO dei pesi massimi Víctor Bisbal, WBO Latino Jr.. welter campione Jean Carlos “Lobo” Torres, WBO / NABO Jr.. Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico – Con il suo impegno sociale coerente, la World Boxing Organization (WBO), presieduto da Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel, Esq, e attraverso il programma WBO bambini Drug Free, portato gioia e regali per i bambini del ‘Centro Educativo: Giocare, Esplorare & Learn’e‘Hacienda Don Antonio’. Entrambi i centri sono situati nella città di Aguas Buenas.

Durante l'evento occupato che si è svolta nella palestra comunale di pugilato di Aguas Buenas, i bambini zaini ricevuti con materiale scolastico e articoli sportivi. Anche, motivazionale discorsi sono stati dati, biciclette stati sorteggiati, e il pranzo è stato servito per loro.

“Non abbiamo parole per quello che ha fatto la WBO per la nostra città. E 'stata la seconda volta quest'anno il nostro bambini ha visto la WBO in visita e ci aiuta. PONCE, Puerto Rico – In un'attività emotiva e occupato di Natale, la World Boxing Organization (WBO) e il suo presidente Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel, accompagnati da ex campioni del mondo, prospettive, Del mondo WBO Jr.. Mosca Campione Angelo Acosta, campioni regionali, e altre figure dello sport sono stati consegnando doni ai bambini presso il Sor Isolina Ferré Center di Ponce, come parte del mondo di successo del programma ‘WBO bambini Drug Free’.

Un emotivo sorella Mildred Vázquez, Direttore Spirituale dei centri di Porto Rico, suddetto: “Il WBO e Paco Valcárcel sono stati commessi a noi per circa 20 years.There sono molti doni che verranno distribuiti agli altri centri che abbiamo a Puerto Rico. Dal primo giorno, che era molto tempo fa, Ricordo che Paco ci ha detto che la WBO non avrebbe mai dimenticarci. La sua azione è molto importante per tutti noi. Non dimenticheremo mai il grande aiuto che ci ha dato poi l'uragano Maria ci ha colpito duro; siamo molto grati”.

“Il rispetto per la scuola, rispetto per la Chiesa, il rispetto per i loro padri e le madri, rispetto per gli anziani e il rispetto per i loro coetanei. Il rispetto è il più importante la priorità nella vita, ha detto il nostro Salvatore”, Valcárcel ha espresso il grande numero dei bambini presenti. “Suor Isolina Sor sapeva sempre come moltiplicare il pesce e pane. È stata mandata da Dio. Essi possono contare su di noi ogni anno, il impegno continuerà, e li amiamo molto”.

Il campione del mondo Ángel “Tito” Acosta ha detto: “Molti bambini hanno lasciato felici con i loro doni e biciclette. Ho sempre dire ai giovani che devono allontanarsi dalle strade di concentrarsi sui loro studi”.
