SAN GIOVANNI, Porto Rico – ottobre 18, 2024 – Joshua Pagan del Michigan ha battuto il cauto veterano Haskell Rhodes nel “Fight of the Night” e nell’evento principale di Salita Promotions“Grande boxe a Porto Rico” evento di venerdì con vittoria unanime della Coca-Cola Music Hall e su DAZN.

Detto “Doppio J”,  Pagano, il cui padre è cresciuto a Porto Rico e successivamente si è trasferito negli Stati Uniti stabilendosi a Grand Rapids dove è nato Pagan, ha avuto una legione di fan chiassosi nel suo angolo tutta la notte mentre spostava il suo disco 11-0 (4 KO) nella vittoria leggera di 10 round su Rhodes (31-7, 16 KO). In una rissa più ravvicinata di quanto indicato dai punteggi dei giudici, La mano di Pagan è stata alzata in segno di vittoria dall'arbitro con il punteggio di 100-90 e 99-91 due volte.

“È stato fantastico stasera, e l'intera folla era piena di tanta energia,", ha detto Pagano. “Volevo ottenere il ko, ma era così esperto. Gli do molto merito”.

I giudici ha segnato la lotta 98-92, 99-91, 100-90. Due giudici hanno assegnato a Castillo l'ottavo round mentre il terzo ha fatto vincere a Carrillo il round avanti e indietro e lanciare uno shutout.

Nel secondo incontro televisivo, il preferito locale di San Juan Kiria Tapia (5-0, 0 KO) ha vinto per la quinta volta senza sconfitte registrando una decisione unanime dominante su sei round Beata Dudek (4-5, 4 KO) in una lotta che ha visto lampi della grande campionessa portoricana Amanda Serrano. I tre giudici erano tutti d'accordo con le loro scorecard dandole a Tapia 60-53. Tapia, che ha messo al tappeto Dudek al primo turno, ha lanciato a piacimento il suo sinistro largo dominando la surclassata ungherese.

In apertura l'attesissima main card DAZN, “Motor City” DetroitDi Velle Smith(10-0, 8 KO) ha segnato un ko tecnico al primo turnoGilberto Santos(16-16, 12 KO) dal Brasile. Non è mai stata una gara in quanto Smith si è rivelato l'aggressore e ha sbattuto Smith a terra due volte prima che l'arbitro avesse visto abbastanza dopo un violento overhand destro e chiamasse l'incontro a 2:28 del primo turno.

Victory Sport & Divertimento is pleased to announce that undefeated middleweight prospect, Luis “Cuba” Arias will make the first in what we hope, are many headlining appearances when he takes on power punching Gilberto Santos of Brazil in a bout scheduled for ten rounds under the direction of world class trainer, John David Jackson.

Arias of Milwaukee, Wisconsin has a perfect record of 13-0 con sei fori.

“Camp has been excellent. Things have been coming together nicely and on time. I get better and stronger every camp,” Said Arias. “I am not overlooking Santos as he’s a strong fighter who’s coming to win but this is my time and I want to make a statement in my first headliner.”

“Training with John David Jackson has been a great. Having someone with his level of experience has helped me develop as a fighter. He has helped take my game to another level. Him and Derik Santos have been a great fit for me. I feel I have the best training team in boxing.”

Il 25 year-old came into the pro ranks with high aspirations after a stellar amateur career that saw him win two US National Championships and a National PAL title, in addition to numerous medals on the international level.
In Jackson, he has a trainer who has trained many world champions and is currently one of the hot cornermen in boxing due to his work with current Light Heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev.

“Luis has had a great camp he’s strong and on weight. He’s ready for his first headlining bout and wants to showcase his talent and show people that he’s the real deal,”said Jackson of his prized pupil,” ha detto Jackson.

“For this camp we are stressing the body attack. Luis is a good boxer with excellent skills and power. We are trying to develop his all-around game so we are focusing more on working the body for this fight.”

Jackson does not feel Cuba Arias is just any boxer. He sees major things in the future for him.
“Luis has the potential to become a World Champion. He was a tremendous amateur, lui è difficile, determined with excellent power and great all around skills. 2016 should be his breakout year.
