Confident Lenin Castillo About Taking on Marcus Browne and His Undefeated Record

Fighting in the paid ranks for just one-year, Rankin defeated then undefeated Sanna Turunen over ten rounds in June to capture the vacant WBC Silver Women’s Middleweight Title and her third straight victory headed into August 4.

 

 

 

A professional musician outside of the ring, the 27-year-old Rankin plays the bassoon and has traveled the world in recent years playing with numerous orchestras while also training and furthering her career in the squared circle.

Nova York, Nova York (Juny 22, 2018)-Raquel Miller kept her prefect record intact with a six-round unanimous decision over Szilvia Szabados in a middleweight bout at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, Nova York.

 

 

 

Miller stunned and hurt Szabados throughout the contest. Molinero, who was making her New York City debut showed her versatility by featuring a diverse arsenal of punches with both hands.

 

 

 

Miller handled the former world-title challenger with ease as she won by shutout scores of 60-54 en totes les targetes.

Veteran Reporter Joins Former Play-By-Play Announcer Steve Albert As Sixth From SHOWTIME Sports® Des 2012 To Be Presented With Boxing’s Highest Honor

NOVA YORK (Juny 11, 2018) – SHOWTIME Sports® veteran reporter Jim Gray was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame on Sunday in Canastota, N.Y., joining former colleague and longtime SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING play-by-play announcer Steve Albert in receiving boxing’s most prestigious honor.

 

 

 

Gray and Albert became the fifth and sixth SHOWTIME Sports talent enshrined in the Hall of Fame since 2012. They join boxing analyst Al Bernstein (2012), ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. (2013), analyst and historian Steve Farhood (2017) and play-by-play announcer Barry Tompkins (2017).

 

 

 

In front of a large crowd that included close friends Mike Tyson, Don King, Deontay Wilder, Julius Irving, Jerry Richardson, Stedman Graham, Bob Costas and many others, the 59-year-old Southern California resident Gray reflected on 40-plus years of covering the sport of boxing. “My journey today has been an unlikely one,” Gray said during his induction speech. “The Boxing Hall of Fame immortalized all of these great fighters. So this magnificent honor comes with tremendous humility. How could this happen? I never took a punch.

 

 

 

Grisa, who started with SHOWTIME in 1994, was honored with a Special Individual Achievement Emmy Award – he currently has 12 Emmy’s in total – in 1997 for his interview of Mike Tyson following the heavyweight’s second loss to Evander Holyfield, the infamous “bite fight.” The National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association also named that interview theSports Broadcast Story of the Year.” Més, the American Sportscasters Association has voted GraySportscaster of the Year” a 1998 and ‘99.

 

 

 

Gray chose Tyson to introduce him on Sunday during the induction ceremony. “It’s ironic,” said Gray. “The man who threatened to kill me in public is now inducting me into the Hall of Fame.

 

 

 

This award is way, way overdue,” an emotional Tyson said of his good friend. “I’m very proud of you. Well-deserved.

 

 

 

With this past weekend’s induction ceremony, SHOWTIME Sports now boasts five current Hall of Famers featured on the network: Grisa, Bernstein, Llunyà, Tompkins and Lennon Jr.

Undefeated Toledo Fireman DeAndre Ware defeats Enrique Collazo in battle of undefeated Super Middleweights

Nova York, Nova York (Juny 11, 2018)-DeAndre Ware scored the biggest win of his young career as he won an eight-round majority decision over 2012 Olympian and previously undefeated Enrique Collazo in a super middleweight bout at King’s Theatre in Brooklyn, Nova York.

 

 

 

After a tactical first three rounds, Ware took over the fight with relentless pressure while landing powerful shots to the head and body that forced Collazo to wilt.

Mrkanovic now eyeing rematch with UBF champ Josh Himes

Queens, Nova York (Maig 22, 2018)–ArminThe Bosnian PrinceMrkanovic returned to the ring after an 11-month absence to win a win six-round unanimous decision over Nicholas Lavin in a cruiserweight bout that took place this past Friday night at Amazura Concert Hall in the Jamaica section of Mrkanovic’s hometown of Queens, Nova York.

 

 

 

Mrkanovic controlled the action, and won by shutout scores of 60-54 on all cards to up his record to 8-3.

 

 

 

The bout was the 1st ring appearance for Mrkanovic since his highly controversial defeat against Josh Himes that took place last June 24th in West Virginia.

I demand a rematch with Himes. The UBF told me that they would make this happen, and to this point they have been silent. Everyone who saw the fight knows that I got screwed, so it is only right that we do this rematch. Himes knows what happened. He has not even fought since our fight. I am ready now, so hopefully the UBF and Himes do the right thing and make this happen.

Burroughs, Oliver win Super Matches and USA takes nine wins at Beat the Streets Benefit in Pier 17

 

NOVA YORK, N.Y. – It rained all week, until this afternoon, and the weather was perfect for the Beat the Streets Benefit at Pier 17 in the Seaport District of Lower Manhattan tonight. The United States showed up with an impressive effort, claiming nine of the 11 international matches in front of the amazing New York skyline.

In the Main Event “Super Match,” Olympic champion and four-time World champion Jordan Burroughs of the USA powered back from trailing 4-0 with a strong second period to defeat two-time Frank Chamizo of Italy, 8-5.

In the other Super Match, American star Jordan Oliver won a 3-3 criteria victory over 2012 Olympic champion Toghrul Asgarov of Azerbaijan.

Other U.S. winners were Tamyra Stock (Femení 68 kg), James Green (Men’s 70 kg), Kyle Dake (Men’s 79 kg), J’den Cox (Men’s 92 kg), Kyle Snyder (Men’s 97 kg), Nick Gwiazdowski (Men’s 125 kg) and Helen Maroulis (Femení 57 kg).

Alemanya, Els Estats Units i Letònia són els amfitrions dels combats de l'OMB

 

 

 

L'Organització Mundial de Boxa (OMB), presidit per Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel, celebrarà cinc interessants lluites pel títol; dos dels quals són per als campionats del món. Els enfrontaments tindran lloc aquest dissabte, Maig 12.

 

 

 

Saddam "World Kid" Ali, natiu de Brooklyn (26-1, 14 Nocauts), arribant a la victòria més important de la seva carrera davant el mític boxejador porto-riqueny Miguel Cotto, fa la primera defensa del seu títol mundial de pes mitjà júnior de l'OMB, quan s'enfronta al perillós mexicà Jaime Munguía (28-0, 24 Nocauts). La lluita tindrà lloc al Turning Stone Resort & Casino de Verona, Nova York. La lluita es retransmetrà en directe per HBO a 10:00 p.m. I.

 

 

 

“Aquest dissabte tindrem molta activitat des de l'OMB. Cal prestar molta atenció a l'actuació de l'enorme punxador Jaime Munguía, que s'enfrontarà a un bon atacant com l'Ali. Serà una lluita clàssica de punxador contra un boxejador. Si guanya Munguía, el col·locaria en una selecta llista de grans boxejadors mexicans que han estat campions del món en o abans 21 anys d'edat", va dir Valcárcel.

 

 

 

A Augsburg, Alemanya, la boxa femenina puja a l'escenari quan la popular excampiona del món Nikki Adler (16-1, 9 Nocauts) d'Alemanya i la competidora mundial Femke Hermans (6-1, 3 Nocauts) de Bèlgica, enfrontar-se per al cinturó mundial vacant de l'OMB de la divisió de pes súper mitjà. La lluita serà a l'Eisstadion d'Augsburg.

 

 

 

“Continuem compromesos i recolzant la boxa femenina. Alemanya no és una excepció. Aquesta gran lluita té la comunitat mirant perquè hi ha un títol mundial en joc i la lluita agradarà al públic”, va dir Valcárcel.

 

A Letònia, tres títols internacionals de l'OMB estaran en joc en duels de 12 rondes en una nit al Riga Arena. Per al cinturó vacant de pes mitjà júnior internacional, el 13è classificat Ismail Iliev (10-0-1, 3 Nocauts) de Nazran, Rússia s'enfrontarà a Konstantin Ponomarev (33-0, 13 Nocauts) de Miass, Rússia.

 

 

 

També, la campiona internacional de pes lleuger de l'OMB i la cinquena classificada Isa Chaniev (12-1, 6 Nocauts) de Nazran, Rússia, defensarà el seu títol davant el fort punxador veneçolà, Ismael Barroso (20-1-2, 19 Nocauts).

 

 

 

Per al cinturó vacant de pes mitjà WBO International, Artur Akavov (18-2, 12 Nocauts) de Rússia, s'enfrontarà a l'argentí Gonzalo Coria (12-1, 5 Nocauts).

 

 

 

“Estem fent presència a l'est d'Europa. Aquesta vegada, va ser el torn a Letònia de comptar amb boxejadors que ja estan classificats a les primeres posicions de l'OMB i durant la resta de l'any, podria estar lluitant pels títols mundials", va expressar Varcárcel.
